0:07 now this is something that I've actually been curious about for the longest time
0:11 this is steel series gaming eyewear
0:14 developed with Gunner Optics so the claim and there are many claims
0:20 about these glasses is that they will reduce the overall eye fatigue and eye
0:25 strain associated with using a computer
0:28 monitor for prolonged periods of time so I don't know if you guys know this but
0:32 probably on a daily basis I use a computer monitor for anywhere from about
0:37 8 to 12 hours so it's a very very long time and that causes some fatigue on my
0:44 eyes especially at work where I've got three 24in monitors and then a fourth
0:48 17-in monitor it's a lot of eye gouging
0:53 brightness and light that is uh that is making me feel tired so one of the
0:57 things that I did do recently is even though I have a very mild prescription I
1:00 tried getting some glasses to see if that would make my eyes feel overall
1:03 less tired all the time so far it hasn't really made a difference I've had them
1:07 for a couple weeks the next thing I wanted to try was using the steel series
1:12 scope so that's the particular one we're looking at here glasses
1:17 now I'm going to make the overall approach to this video fairly simple and
1:23 I'm just going to outline all of the claims that steel series and Gunner
1:26 Optics make in addition to just unboxing
1:30 looking at the product then what I'm going to do is I'm going to wear these
1:34 glasses every time I'm in front of a screen for at least a week maybe let's
1:39 why don't we say two weeks let's say two weeks to get a feel for whether my eyes
1:44 actually experience any difference in
1:48 their fatigue level so I'm actually cheating because there's a lot of
1:51 different stuff that they have to say about it I got my iPad there but why don't we start with uh some of the
1:58 included okay what is this the digital performance eyewear something okay is
2:02 excellent out of the box non-prescription Gunner eyewear is highly recommended as a solution for
2:07 contact wearers or post corrective surgery parent patients crystalline and
2:11 Amber lenses are precisely tuned with Plus point2 diopters for digital screen
2:16 viewing distance okay cool yeah limited
2:19 warranty okay uses and care instructions so probably just basically yeah be
2:24 careful with them and use the cleaning solution compatible with the okay y got
2:28 it and and that's like um billion
2:31 different languages okay inside the Box we also find nice little
2:35 sleeve little Gunner thing on it okay we
2:39 find a separate box for the glasses
2:43 themselves and we will have to figure out how those come
2:49 off so what does steel series or and
2:52 Gunner okay so this is a collaborative project here what do they have to say
2:56 about them so I've already outlined what the overall effect is supposed to be but
3:01 let's talk a little bit about how they say they work so number one is the tint
3:06 of the glasses so this is Amber but they capitalize some of the letters and not
3:10 some of the other letters but these are Amber lenses and they're supposed to reduce the amount of harsh bright blue
3:16 light and make everything appear with more of a of a warm color so that is
3:21 supposed to reduce fatigue okay so
3:25 that's the Y yellow him the shape so the
3:29 wrapped curved lens is supposed to retain eye moisture so rather than
3:34 having moisture evaporate away from your eyes much more readily when you're not
3:38 wearing these glasses it is supposed to allow them to retain some of it which
3:44 means that when you're not blinking for a prolong period of time let's say when you're very very focused whether it's on
3:48 a spreadsheet or whether it's on a game uh they are not supposed to dry out as
3:53 easily so that's one of the things that my optometrist actually mentioned when I
3:56 first went in complaining about eye fatigue was make sure you're blinking
3:59 enough because eye dryness can be one of the leading causes of eye tiredness so
4:04 there's that uh the proprietary lens material offers the clearest image
4:08 possible and comprised of lightweight materials for Long Haul ergonomics I can
4:12 tell you guys right now it's very very light the overall glasses including the
4:16 uh including the frames extremely light the coating so they're designed to
4:21 reduce glare and protect the lens okay anti-reflective coating I guess you guys
4:25 can be the judges of how anti-reflective it is when I go like this okay the fit
4:30 ergonomically designed the lens and frame solution are constructed Advanced lightweight so okay once again
4:34 lightweight yet durable so let's have a look at how they're
4:38 made so those are the hinges right there
4:41 I'd say you still have to be careful with them they're still glasses they got
4:44 kind of a neat carbon fiber
4:59 ears are crooked so whenever I wear
5:02 glasses that are just kind of off the uh off the rack so to speak the only way
5:06 that they fit me properly and evenly is if they grip the head a little bit and
5:10 these ones do grip they do hold on just like my uh just like my uh my sunglasses
5:15 but they don't grip too much they're not uncomfortable so that's that's a good
5:19 thing as well okay the benefits for gamers so improves visual efficiency
5:23 with the change in the tint coating focusing power and curvature okay
5:28 improve visual endurance improve visual recovery keep your eyes fresh and
5:31 relaxed okay minimizes eye strain so you
5:35 can get them with a prescription although the ones that are available to
5:38 just like buy online are going to be the non-prescription ones so if you already
5:42 have corrective lenses such as contacts these are going to be ideal for you and
5:46 uh but yeah if you go to Gunner Optics you can actually get them directly from
5:49 them with prescription lenses and oh this is neat so headset
5:54 compatible that's a really good point because most glasses whether they're 3D
5:58 Vision glasses for example Le or whether they are prescription glasses are often
6:02 a bit of a pain with a headset and I wish I had a headset on me but you can
6:05 see how flat to my head these sit so I
6:09 can't imagine there'd be any difficulty with a headset but when I do my Impressions video I will definitely try
6:13 a headset between now and then so I can let you guys know so yeah expect an
6:18 update from me anywhere from sort of let's say 2 weeks to a month from now
6:21 I'll give them a really Lo prolonged trial to see how they go and I will let
6:26 you guys know sort of once and for all from someone who gets very very bad eye
6:31 fatigue just from using a computer so much whether these things are actually
6:35 worth the Fairly Hefty ticket price so thank you for checking out this unboxing
6:39 and first look because we're going to need a much longer look and don't forget
