0:00 okay so today I'm going to be having a quick look at the ASUS p7p 55 de Pro so
0:06 this is an updated version of The Old p7p 55d Pro and by old I mean new but
0:14 not quite old enough to include or too old to include Okay blah blah blah true
0:20 USB 3.0 and true SATA 6 gbit per second
0:24 bam that is your big selling point for this and a lot of the other new p-55
0:28 boards that have been coming out I mean I know the P5 5 launch wasn't that long
0:31 ago but because these two new technologies are so important many of
0:35 the motherboard manufacturers are releasing new boards so they can get on
0:39 board with those Technologies right away so let's go through what is special
0:43 about this board hybrid technology includes their easy tune overclocking
0:47 Express gate uh Linux operating system blippy bloopy whatever okay hybrid
0:52 processor turbo V Evo okay OC blah blah okay okay here we go thermal probe so
0:57 they have temperature probes in all of the regulator modules that will adjust
1:02 for the power load as well as the temperature to ensure that you're always
1:06 getting the best performance possible out of them okay next one is the true
1:10 USB 3.0 and true SATA 6 gbit per second performance that is very cool obviously
1:15 and then next is any memories AOK so it's their memo technology that allows
1:19 you to post even with overclocked sort of memory modules now I'm going to use
1:24 this chair as a substitute for a real cameraman here and adjust it so we can
1:28 have a look at the motherboard while we box okay so there is the board box
1:32 itself let's get this open okay so the first thing we have here is the io
1:37 Shield it's say one of those new stylish black aisle Shields and you can see
1:40 they've clearly marked the two USB 3.0
1:44 ports with a white box around them that's kind of handy because if you're looking for those it's nice to have them
1:49 well marked okay then we have a USB and esap there that is awesome I am so tired
1:55 of seeing like USB fire wire combo ports I mean who uses fire wire anyway USB
2:00 eada ASUS has it figured out all right there is an IDE cable so they've got it
2:05 less figured out there's still IDE but what can you do and we have an SLI
2:08 Bridge so you can assume that this is an SLI supporting board okay we've got
2:13 their Q connector technology and then we have four SATA cables they are black and
2:18 they are straight and right angled there's two of each okay then we have
2:22 the users guide as well as a driver DVD
2:26 do not use this download the latest drivers and
2:30 well sorry about that my memory card actually filled up while I was in the
2:34 middle of my unboxing so here is the user guide as well as the driver DVD
2:37 don't use that etc etc and then we have the ASUS Q design and DIY features where
2:42 they're basically giving you a quick rundown of all of the cool features that
2:47 it has so it has a CPU socket wow okay
2:51 it has memo K we already talked about that so there's no need to go into that
2:54 any further qm is an outof boox idea for
2:58 easy installation basically that means that when you're installing memory
3:01 modules in this board there's only a connector on one side very cool I'll
3:06 show you more about that in a moment Q slot is the new retaining mechanism that
3:10 ASUS has designed to make removing board um
3:14 removing video cards very very easy you can use the pencil eraser okay qled H
3:21 that's not really very cool okay overvolt switches this is neat so there's a Hardware switch to actually
3:25 enable overvolting features and vertical SATA ports have been around for a
3:29 million year so we're not too concerned about that and easy RAM overclocking
3:33 modes okay well those have been around for a while too so you're like two for
3:37 six anyway good job ASUS okay so let's get the board itself
3:42 out here so here is the p7p
3:46 55d Das e Pro there we go so why don't
3:51 we do a quick rundown of the overall feature set of this particular
3:55 motherboard I'm going to move my camera back a little bit and adjust it so that
3:58 you can have a look here so first of all here's your LGA 1156 socket that you'll
4:02 find on all p55 boards here is your dual Channel DDR3 memory and this is the Q
4:08 dim thing they were talking about you can see that on this side these aren't
4:11 actually Clips like here have a look from the side uh if I can get that in
4:14 there yeah these are not Clips so you basically just slide the module in from
4:18 this side and then open up the clip put it in and then clip it in very cool
4:22 feature actually okay so here is their uh 16 phase Hybrid Power which is
4:28 actually 12 plus 2 phases okay and then you've got your 24 pin power connector
4:33 as well as your eight pin power connector in their optimal locations at
4:36 the edge and top of the board respectively let's have a look at the
4:39 PCI Express layout so if you were going to use Crossfire or SLI on this
4:43 motherboard which you could you would be left with an additional PCIe a PCI and
4:48 another PCIe 1X so that's a pretty ideal
4:51 layout given that most of the expansion cards these days are moving towards PCI
4:55 Express this isn't a premium premium board so you're not going to find any on
4:59 board power buttons or uh four pin CPU
5:02 or sorry not CPU four pin fan headers or any of that kind of fancy stuff but it
5:07 is still fairly featur Rich As far as the overclocking features go so actually
5:12 you know what let's have a look okay let's have a quick look these are our
5:16 SATA 6 gabit per second ports so all of
5:20 the blue ones are SATA 2 or SATA 3.0 gbit per second and then these gray ones
5:25 down here are SATA 3 gbit per second I think we've covered most of the featur
5:30 on the front of the board oh yeah here's the memo K button in case you were
5:33 wondering and here's your little dip switch to overvolt the RAM that's also
5:37 pretty cool wow that's really hard to press they don't want you pressing that by accident that's for sure here's a
5:42 quick look at the vrm cooling solution I kind of like these it kind of like
5:45 they're kind of ice Fortress for lack of a better word anyway here is the back of
5:50 the board the moment you've all been waiting for you got PS2 ports and
5:54 they're back to two PS2 ports on this board then we have six SATA or six SATA
6:00 six USB ports 2.0 and then we have two
6:03 digital audio ports we've got a fire wire and an eat and then we have gigabit
6:08 Ethernet and 7.1 Audio Oh wait there's more USB 3.0 there they are so USB 3.0
6:14 is up to 5 gabit per second so you're looking at maxing out any hard drive
6:18 with a USB 3.0 connection which makes it actually faster than e SAT 2 which is
6:24 very very cool so thank you for checking out my unboxing of the ASUS p7p 55 5d- e
6:31 Deluxe or something like that 55d e pro thank you
