0:01 yeah and welcome to the W show we uh
0:06 have a great great topic for you guys
0:10 today yes and a bunch of crap oh we have
0:13 one great topic do we have a lot of great topics I haven't looked at the doc so I have no idea what the topics are
0:18 today it's going to be a wonderful show it will be a wonderful show I'm looking
0:21 forward news yes leaked specs for an
0:26 upcoming AMD graphics card is it Vega
0:31 no no it isn't um we have Intel news
0:34 yeah we have more AMD news more ryzen news I mean would it be the wo without
0:38 weekly risen news I I I made that joke in the fake pre-roll thing that I filmed
0:44 being like it's 2017 and it's the W show therefore AMD news and also RGB news yes
0:49 my friends behind me on my other side we've got RGB
0:54 workstations all of our editors are going they're upgrading for 2017 and you
0:59 know having more colors in the computer helps with color correction 10 core
1:04 processors double the memory better graphics cards
1:09 ddr4 RGB and tempered glass oh jeez
1:13 tempered glass my friend uh what else we
1:16 got here oh Intel rumors too we have we
1:19 have rumors from everybody um but we'll tell you more about that later
1:24 first the pre-recorded intro
1:33 what wow Colton isn't job anymore does he even
1:39 have a job here anymore no well not now you just screwed that up yeah actually
1:43 you know what do you want to fire him or should I C you're fired wow that's uh I
1:48 mean you were you were so quick on the trigger there you couldn't even you
1:52 couldn't even like respond to me that
1:55 you wanted to be the one to fire him you were just going straight for the fire
1:59 but I still need you to do stuff so if you could like show up on Monday
2:03 yeah that would be great thanks that
2:07 would be SW that would be really good um
2:10 so yeah we actually actually you know what there is legitimately a lot of
2:14 interesting news this week so I guess speaking of people who don't have to be
2:17 fired James as well um yeah big big
2:23 leaks make it in big leaks big leaks oh
2:27 big leag leaks Big League leaks big leak
2:31 be the most annoying name for I'm going to like start gleeking if I say say that
2:35 long enough remember gleeking I remember the kids in my high school that would
2:39 like they'd run around and be like and they'd like so weird and I'm
2:43 just like wow like I have spit on me but
2:47 you're the one you're the one who should feel gross
2:51 yeah AMD radon RX 500 series official
2:56 presentation allegedly leaked gaming
2:59 benchmarks and specs allegedly confirmed
3:03 and the source here is uh well the article we have is wccf Tech but I we
3:08 should just start calling them Tech don't you get a kick out of like uh
3:15 websites that exist based on leaking
3:18 confidential information from other websites that are like we better
3:23 Watermark these images yeah so that other websites don't don't steal this
3:29 content legitimately like and the my favorite
3:32 part too fry me a river is when someone will steal like content like like say
3:38 this was an accidental launch like what Happ I'm not going to call out the
3:41 website name but what like what happened around the 1080 TI sure like where they
3:45 screw up the time zones and they accident oh no and then they pull their
3:49 own article down but someone else has cashed it so they take the images steal
3:53 those images and then Watermark them
3:57 themselves that's how you get Jack
4:00 that is how you get jacked all right speaking of jacked
4:05 according to the rumors Polaris uh is
4:10 it's going to be called okay I have to make sure that I am only saying things
4:14 that are in the leak so uh they're calling it Polaris refresh and uh
4:20 suggesting that it's going to be kind of Polaris but jacked so they're showcasing
4:27 specifications gaming performance and it looks like the series will be uh
4:32 utilizing a a refreshed sort of cooling system and power configuration all cards
4:39 except the radon rx550 will use dual fan
4:42 cooling solutions as standard
4:46 um AMD the the alleged leak of the
4:50 alleged slides alleges that AMD also
4:54 will be offering higher stable operation underload higher frequency stable
4:58 operation underload with better overclocking and that they will
5:02 allegedly be available on April
5:05 18th so there you have it now you know
5:11 what allegedly may or may not be true so
5:14 here are some alleged slides um so this
5:18 if true for the RX 580 so this would be
5:21 AMD's Flagship until Vega because as
5:26 much as I would love to be talking about Vega right now I'm not
5:30 so 8 GS of RAM I guess it looks looks
5:35 like maybe that would be standard I'm I'm actually not sure oh
5:40 no allegedly rx580 will have both eight
5:43 and 4 gig variants okay so that's that's same as before then so yeah okay and it
5:50 will outperform the R9 38x which is good I
5:56 guess where's the zero I don't like when
5:59 they don't label graphs cuz like you see you see the like chunk difference this
6:03 is zero I think we're good yeah I think we're good we're good cuz 50 versus 69
6:07 okay that's fair at 69 always wins yep
6:10 uh so here's an RX whatever that's supposed to be wow yeah great slide good
6:16 job you know if you're going to leak and steal slides you might as well take a
6:20 better photo yeah get on it okay and uh
6:24 take responsibility for your photo quality man you know here's the thing
6:27 how are you expecting not to get CAU like aren't they going to just like look
6:31 back and be like who was sitting there yeah at this time yeah I was even
6:36 thinking cuz like you don't want to do phone confiscation at these events cuz
6:39 that's sketchy you never want to give your phone away yeah so maybe they should give like people little boxes and
6:45 they like have to put the phone in the box and it's on like a timed release and
6:49 it could be like a cool souvenir box yeah like it could it could like make oh
6:54 it could be a music box so no one could open it cuz it'd be
6:58 like
7:05 that would be so awesome decorative
7:09 commemorative music boxes for their events
7:13 okay that idea is is W show wow like
7:20 like copyright okay which means you can use it we just want how much do we ask
7:26 we usually say 10% we say 10% so we want
7:29 10 % of the money you'll make on giving away boxes to journalists at
7:34 events yeah which isn't to say that we're going to pay you yeah 10% of the
7:39 cost yeah we don't we don't do that part that's what that sounds like but that's not what's going on yes um so there's a
7:44 so all right so the 570 is apparently much faster than a 370 which is also
7:49 fortunate because it's sort of been a while yes um 5 560 is apparently much
7:55 faster than a 360 and a 750 Ti like I we
8:00 we both do same why are we comparing to the 750 Ti I think the reason why they do this
8:05 where they jump back a couple Generations is cuz that's the upgrade
8:08 cycle I get it but like that's just step
8:13 into radon RX with a 550 how much is
8:17 this going to cost uh doesn't say 4K
8:21 home theater PC ready you know that it is not a gaming card when they start
8:26 talking about the home theater and photo
8:30 oh boy and Photoshop and Adobe Premiere with that said like from uh my testing
8:36 having just like a graphics card is
8:39 legitimately way better and then stepping up to higher end graphics cards
8:44 legitimately doesn't make much of a difference my like housemate person does
8:49 photo editing stuff and like has to have a GPU y not even super important which
8:55 one it is just has to have a GPU got to have a GPU yeah so here they're
8:59 comparing to Intel HD 530 graphics and the Radeon
9:04 r7250 and I mean that it's it's not much
9:07 of a competition so there's that I me you know I'd be wondering if this card
9:12 so I don't know pricing uh there's no leaked pricing here but I would be
9:16 wondering if this card could Merit a
9:21 revisiting of low-end graphics cards do
9:25 they suck oh my God that would actually
9:28 be kind of cool cuz we've made okay we've made two of these lonus hosted one of them I hosted another one we both
9:32 agree by the way yes very much so and they pointless I was just addressing
9:36 comments on his video to be completely honest and doing it with an a newer card
9:40 I that's probably the closest thing to a mean comments video that we've ever
9:45 done yeah pretty close yeah like addressing mean comments except instead
9:50 of most people just like reading it and then looking sad at the camera we were
9:53 like Get
9:56 Wrecked here's why you're wrong and here are four more reasons why you're wrong
10:02 also here's me putting them like this so yeah so maybe we do mean
10:08 comments videos a little bit differently all right speaking of mean
10:13 comments uh yeah that's actually a pretty good idea yeah it's probably it's
10:17 probably worth revisiting if it's any good yeah o
10:21 aholic has ryzen 5 the 1600 X breaking
10:27 lay records at 5.9 GHz on the Crosshair
10:33 6 hero motherboard this is the same motherboard
10:36 like people are upset at me for using in our video because whatever people oh
10:42 people can get upset about anything so there's a CPU at the bottom of a
10:47 Frozen doad and you know it's extreme overclocking I I know it's called a pot
10:53 um it's extreme overclocking so there's like six people watching who are
10:56 interested and for everyone else we'll move on pretty quickly here don't worry
10:59 but um German overclocker Roman hardung
11:03 I mean I'm sure it's pronounced differently than that in German but uh pushed it to 5.9 using some gskill ddr4
11:09 memory set to work at ddr4 3000 cost 12 bus speed of 130 MHz liquid
11:16 nitrogen all cores and threads were enabled and he ran cine
11:20 bench um GPU Pi GPU pi and geek bench in these
11:26 four benchmarks he achieved Global firsts overtaking all Intel hex core
11:30 processors none of which matters because you know it's funny I
11:36 think everyone has gone through this maybe I mean you might be about to make
11:40 me feel stupid which I wouldn't like um but I'm going to put myself out there
11:45 anyway cuz I'm all about putting out um
11:48 okay didn't we did we all go through a
11:52 time when we first heard of liquid nitrogen overclocking where we went I'm
11:57 going to have a liquid nitrogen cool computer one day and we start
12:01 researching it no I literally looked at
12:04 it and was like that's really stupid cuz that's going to be a
12:08 consumable how old were you not that
12:12 old maybe grade seven at the
12:17 max so I thought that there might be some way to
12:22 like use it it like phase change it and
12:25 like I don't know maybe you would pressurize it back down into a liquid
12:29 and then you would something something okay so maybe but then at that point my
12:34 brain would have gone way too expensive
12:37 and I would never do that yeah so anyway and like super volatile anyway liquid
12:42 nitrogen is irrelevant the most you can do for actual 247 operation and even
12:47 This is Not Practical is phase change so
12:50 we're talking like minus 40 or so real like really loud and
12:58 really big noxious and it's bulky and
13:01 it's basically like this guy and would
13:04 you invite this guy into your computer room maybe maybe they would how's it
13:11 going I'd like to check out your computer room may I
13:15 enter straw pole 99% yes one
13:20 troll that sounds very much like the old uh LT intro yeah it's not that far
13:25 off the porn intro terrible
13:29 um what else do we have today I mean do we do we even have topics oh yeah
13:34 actually this is pretty cool so the
13:39 rumors that were circulating that Intel
13:42 was slashing prices on their CPUs in
13:45 advance of AMD's ryzen 7 launch those turned out to be more to do with
13:51 Microcenter being Microcenter and selling Intel processors
13:56 at a loss for no apparent reason
14:00 I nor anyone outside of Microcenter seems to have able been able to crack
14:05 the the mystery as to how they're able to sell CPUs at like 50 plus dollars
14:10 below cost and still be in business all these years later
14:15 um but if you thought for a second that
14:20 Intel wasn't going to respond in any way
14:24 then you were definitely wrong or at least rumored wrong we actually don't
14:28 have confirmation on this one way or the other so I can kind of say whatever I
14:32 want right now Intel's Skylake X so this is from techspot.com and kbl Lake X
14:38 processors rumored to arrive earlier than initially anticipated so this is a
14:45 clear direct response to ryzen 7 because
14:50 both Sky Lake X and kbl Lake X are the
14:55 legging behind um sort of enter surprise Zeon
15:00 version that then gets adapted into this
15:04 this Middle Ground so at the entry level you've got
15:07 115x 1156 1155 1150 1151 is that all of
15:12 them can they just change the socket count the pin count to something other
15:16 than 115 something yes it's rather annoying at this point I feel like
15:20 they're just toying with me they're just trying to make it hard to
15:24 remember so that's at the low end and the and the mid-range and sort of
15:29 5556 I think you got it okay yeah awesome so there's that then at the very
15:36 high end there's your LGA 20113 or 2011 and the previously 1366
15:43 and I think there was a there was actually 25 something can't remember
15:46 there there's there's a different one there's like a and there's like nights landing and stuff I forget how many pins
15:51 that bloody thing has it's a huge anyway
15:54 so that's your server right there then they take those same server
15:59 architecture chips those same those same designs and they kind of trickle them
16:04 down into the the pro suer workstation
16:08 like professional is and also very very
16:12 high-end Enthusiast and that's going to be your 20113 based on your x99 chipset
16:18 or like your your X something 999
16:21 chipset so what's happened is that for
16:24 the last I don't know how long's it been 5 years ever since I think lynfield so
16:30 lynfield launched after Bloomfield if I
16:35 recall correctly I feel like it's been launch so the Enthusiast platform got
16:39 the high end back in the 1366 days so
16:43 this was um yeah got the high-end first I believe
16:47 and then lynfield 1156 came later you
16:50 thought it was five years since lynfield yeah when was Linfield eight oh
16:55 crap why am I so old okay but lynfield
16:58 came after Bloomfield right let's hope
17:01 anyway so I'm going to tell the story My Way regardless so then what happened
17:05 after that was we went from the Enthusiast platform getting the new
17:09 architecture first cuz lynfield was basically Bloomfield but like crappier
17:14 um because it was like dual cores and stuff and then we went from well okay
17:19 they did have a quad okay look the point is don't stress about it we went from
17:23 the Enthusiast getting the update first and then the mainstream getting it to
17:28 the main stream getting the new architecture first and then Enthusiast
17:32 getting it later because we were waiting for the Enterprise to adopt it and then
17:36 we were waiting for that to to trickle down to the the highend and like the the
17:42 workstation and the Enthusiast market so was it right did I have it uh yeah okay
17:46 also there was 5,000 people sitting on the twitch from that uh little thing we
17:51 did but anyways um so sorry to all of
17:55 those people who are there and we are um
17:58 recording this actually the next day
18:02 um so anyway so what it so what happened
18:06 then was you would get mainstream
18:10 processors that benefited from the even if it's just five or or 10% Improvement
18:15 in IPC you'd get mainstream processors that seriously
18:20 outperformed much more expensive ones
18:23 that were supposedly workstation or that were Enthusiast class and that has
18:29 remained true basically since that time
18:33 so what this article means finally full
18:37 circle back to this article where the rumor is that both Sky Lake X so that's
18:44 the bigger Sky lake with more course and KB Lake X the fact that both of these
18:49 are apparently on an accelerated timetable means that it looks like Intel
18:53 is trying to kind of get caught up so they're not fighting ryzen 7
18:59 with not even current generation chips
19:04 because the normal Cadence would have Intel launching a a followup to K Lake
19:11 in June at computex and then launching
19:15 what would finally then be uh Sky Lake e
19:20 months later at around the packs time frame no no which is super weird so now
19:26 Sky l x is moving mov up from sometime
19:29 in Q3 to June so that's around computex
19:33 time frame and will apparently include six and 10 core CPUs support for Quad
19:38 Channel ddr4 2667 uh memory and
19:44 44 PCI E
19:47 Lanes um I am a little confused
19:52 about the what this particular hold on a
19:57 second um so we're going to get an x299
20:01 chipset to accompany that apparently and I don't understand um
20:08 what part what what these kbl Lake X
20:12 notes mean so a KB Lake X apparently
20:20 is also going to be on the 2066 socket
20:26 but with just four cores dual Channel memory and far fewer PCI elanes well
20:31 then why would you put it on that socket instead of just putting it on an
20:35 11 um my only guess for that I would be
20:40 if you want a box with huge amounts of RAM and don't actually care about
20:44 compute speed yeah but if you only have two channels you wouldn't be able to do
20:47 that oh is it actually so what does this even what does this even
20:53 mean two channels yeah huh this like the old only
20:58 benefit of the higher-end platform is more cores more PCI lanes and more
21:04 memory channels so if you took all that stuff off then you'd be
21:10 dumb um well I don't know it's a rumor
21:14 so the fact that it makes no sense
21:17 whatsoever um might be fine in might be fine and apparently they'll lack an
21:22 integrated GPU so that's one difference but uh stay tuned so there's
21:28 that okay so here's another rumor this one I
21:32 hadn't even heard of new Intel KB Lake G KB lake g g
21:37 Edition uh the original article here is from Tech PowerUp what G you know like
21:44 cuz that's what isn't that what rappers do they like hug themselves yeah just
21:48 like you know
21:52 yo oh jez um so rumored Intel kbl Lake G
21:57 Series modular
22:01 multi- hbm2 and this is a big question mark
22:05 here and you can't see it CU it's cut off AMD Graphics intellectual property
22:11 whoa can you imagine that can you
22:15 imagine an Intel CPU with AMD graphics
22:20 on board okay if this happens we have to make a system with this processor and an
22:24 NVIDIA graphics card just for pure laws
22:28 yeah so we could have all three married
22:31 for the first time ever since I did my Intel CPU SLI and Crossfire system that
22:37 thing was epic that thing was stupid epic so stupid hey you should go back to
22:43 that and use um
22:46 unraid to have an SLI and Crossfire
22:49 system properly running both on the same box no SLI or Crossfire in
22:54 virtualization yet but if they get it working that would be sick I guarantee
22:59 you it will happen cuz then you could be like Optimal situation for whichever
23:02 game you want to run I actually have a new unraid plan one that I don't think
23:07 you've heard about yet um we'll get back to KB lake g in a minute talking about
23:10 it on it's all good yeah actually no I'll tell you about it after KB Lake G
23:14 um it it I think you're going to like it I think you're going to be like yeah that's pretty cool so KB Lake G uh the
23:20 company has already played with such a design before with its Clarkdale family
23:23 of processors uh so this would be like a heterogeneous modular approach to the
23:28 CPU that allows them to integrate external graphic Solutions like that
23:34 could be produced in other factories and they could just like fit them on the
23:37 package so instead of having it on die so uh back to back to Clarkdale if I
23:44 recall correctly had the CPU cores and
23:47 then like the igpu and they were both on the same package but they didn't share a
23:51 die so they didn't have to be actually manufacture at the same time so this
23:54 would allow them to put them together on the package and potentially like mix and
23:59 match them so they could save die space on their 10 nanometer dies for actual
24:03 cores increase yields and
24:07 uh potentially you know work with a
24:11 potential partner like AMD on putting
24:15 very different Graphics technology on the package with the
24:19 CPU now one of the things that's been
24:22 speculated and I I'm not the only one who has who has brought this up is that
24:27 this is part of the Reas that AMD split into AMD and Radeon Technology
24:33 Group okay because if Intel had to put
24:38 AMD Radeon graphics on their box that
24:42 would be a big no no but if they do radon technology if it was Radeon
24:45 Technologies Group um then it's probably
24:48 fine Graphics I think that might be quite a bit more palatable yeah and then
24:53 Ron Technology Group Graphics which is also work with AMD that's right which is
24:58 fine which is fine yeah and it could be owned by AMD but like there's there's so
25:02 much of that where like the the distinction between um you know Lexus
25:07 and Toyota is is purely in name but that
25:11 doesn't change that there's a consumer perception and that other brands have to
25:16 be aware of a different consumer perception that's towards radon
25:20 Technologies Group and AMD right
25:24 interesting yeah um so anyway back to that unraid project um um I'm planning
25:30 to do the the like the best streaming PC
25:34 and you know how every streamer that's worth their salt is running two boxes
25:40 right rude uh yes it's it it goes back
25:44 and forth a little bit but a lot of the like bigger time ones do yep because
25:48 it's just it's more flexible in a lot of ways yes it increases cost but by the
25:53 time you've got you know a box and you upgrade your machine you kind of go oh
25:57 well that now that's my streaming box I can see how it's a natural upgrade path
26:01 that many streamers would go through as they grow their following and are
26:06 starting to invest more into what they're doing so I think with
26:10 virtualization I could run my two boxes in one
26:14 box okay with enough processing course that I could do x264 CPU software
26:20 encoding on one of them with a separate monitor keyboard mouse like battle
26:24 station command station style and
26:28 without giving up gaming performance on the main gaming box that'd be pretty
26:31 cool so that's the goal uh have you thought about a Hackintosh and Windows
26:36 PC in one PC built um yes but it's uh it's a
26:42 sensitive topic you know working with
26:45 unraid around Hackintosh where they're like oh we don't want to touch that with
26:50 a 10-ft pole so they're not going to support me on it and
26:56 um yeah it's it's a it's such a gray area I mean it's not even gray it's
27:01 illegal is it yeah cuz you have not paid
27:05 for the software because the software is provided with the purchase of a
27:09 Macintosh but you used to be able to buy the software you I don't believe you can
27:14 anymore okay but you used to be able to then I think it was more gray okay yeah
27:19 that makes sense um actually speaking of Apple news we've got something that we
27:23 missed last week and we will get to that as soon as we are done with our sponsor
27:27 Spa I fix it I fix it you fix it I'm making
27:35 a new jingle for I fix it no one knows
27:40 what's going on we're going to do a
27:43 shanty song and maybe we'll go a little
27:46 faster now talking about I fix them I'm sorry for subjecting everyone to that
27:51 I'm gonna go get a k but thank you that was fun so I fix it is your One-Stop
27:56 shop for DIY electronics repair they've
28:00 got over 19,000 free step-by-step repair guides
28:04 and a huge inventory of replacement parts and tools with lifetime warranty
28:10 and they've got many many different products this one is our personal
28:14 favorite this is the Protech toolkit it's got 64 different bits it's got an
28:18 electrostat electrostatic um it's got an
28:22 ESD strap it's got um you know spudgers
28:25 and pokers and prying tools and guitar picks and ESD safe tweezers and the
28:31 butter knife and it's got all this great stuff and I'm not I'm not going to say
28:35 that that you can do this I'm not going to say it's approved to do this or any
28:38 of that kind of stuff but now twice this
28:41 exact kit well okay this exact type of Kit one with pella's name on it one with
28:46 my name on it don't do it I know no no
28:50 we can't advertise that as a feature it's pretty cool because all the tools
28:54 are under the restricted length
28:58 which is the thing took this through the airport yep I mean here give give me
29:04 this I didn't even get through the airport with my screwdriver once yeah
29:09 was it too long though look at this thing yeah I
29:12 mean they really didn't like this one
29:15 even though it's not sharp even though it's not sharp you guys can see that U
29:19 because it looks like a little teeny knife so what I did was I was like what
29:23 could I see it for a second asked Polly stuff the guy handed it to me and I was
29:26 like it's fine and like started stabbing
29:29 myself with it and I was like it's not a knife it's for getting between
29:33 components and then started like just talking way too much about like computer
29:38 repair and like what all the different things do and stuff and then they just
29:42 like shut up go away a little bit and like they didn't like these either cuz
29:45 they're basically little Spears those are that that's dangerous yeah um so
29:51 they took them away and they brought them to like a measuring device and
29:54 stuff and they were under a certain length and if they're under certain
29:58 length it then becomes instead of it being a hard and fast rule it becomes
30:03 discretion of the agents and they were like okay I think
30:07 you're good just like don't do anything with it and don't
30:13 like pull it out on the plane and I was like 100% yeah unless United's trying to
30:17 drag you off the plane then maybe you could defend yourself a little bit with
30:21 it get away from me um oh jeez so
30:25 meanwhile they've they've confiscated like four of my Spyderco ladybugs which
30:30 are like this big yeah yeah of course
30:34 brilliant freaking brilliant um anyway that that was a very
30:39 long not an official thing but it's it's happened at all it's happened twice not
30:43 even a thing no no uh but basically um
30:47 yeah you can go buy an iix IT kit today
30:51 and not travel on the plane with it put it in your checked and if you use offer
30:55 code wow at ifixit.com SL Linus then you can save five bucks on
31:01 a purchase of $10 or
31:05 more terrible speaking of things that are not
31:09 terrible fresh books fresh books is super easy to use it's the invoicing and
31:14 accounting tool that lets Freelancers and small business owners stay organized
31:20 manage their time better and well ultimately make more money because when
31:26 you spend your time working on a client's job whether it's a computer or
31:31 painting a house or or Plumbing or electrical work or whatever whatever
31:36 building bird feeders who cares whatever it is that you do when you spend your
31:40 time on that instead of mucking around with accounting software you're going to
31:45 be happier your clients are going to be happier your business is going to grow
31:49 and that is what life is all about because capitalism and you can possibly
31:54 even get more clients because they'll spend less time around on computer software exactly you can scale
31:59 better and your life gets to be less stressful because when you don't have
32:03 people breathing down your neck about why something isn't done or you know
32:08 where your where your bill is or whatever not that anyone breathes down
32:11 your neck about where the bill is where your bill is but you don't have to spend
32:15 time breathing down their necks because they have a system built in where you
32:18 can check and see if they've opened it or not yeah you can send your invoice in
32:21 like 30 seconds and then you actually can know if they looked at it yeah and
32:26 they'll be like oh yeah so sorry I know I haven't paid for little Sally's dance
32:30 classes but uh I didn't see it can you send me another copy no I will not send
32:35 you another copy you got it you saw it
32:38 pay up and that's the freshbooks way
32:41 yeah Sally's mom so visit freshbooks.com when and get a free trial today for so
32:47 where you can where you can try it and then uh enter W show in the how you
32:51 heard about s section they also have a Mobile card reader so you can even take
32:55 payment directly through fresh books nice uh um what else do we got here
33:01 oh this is like I read the future read
33:05 the future read the past I participated in the past and influenced the
33:10 future um apparently Microsoft seems to
33:14 think that variable refresh rate is
33:17 coming to a TV near
33:22 you so this would be uh technology like
33:25 gsync and freesync so the idea being that well okay you
33:31 guys probably know what variable refresh rate is but basically project Scorpio apparently
33:37 supports freesync with Microsoft working with TV manufacturers to try and push
33:42 them to support it as well the latest HDMI 2.1 specification also supports
33:48 variable refresh rate so there you have it Apple
33:53 announces a completely rethought Mac Pro
33:57 uh there are some great quotes in here uh I don't actually have that in uh in
34:03 my notes here but man there's like some great quotes it so it didn't work out
34:07 the the expansion didn't work out as well as we thought it would didn't they
34:11 never expand well no you could expand using
34:15 Thunderbolt too Oh I thought you meant like expansion of the yeah okay never
34:18 mind and I was just like really you thought it would work out
34:24 like immediately like nobody had Apple clued into this but like immediately
34:28 remember that picture that someone posted of 36 Thunderbolt devices plugged
34:34 into a Mac Pro was like really you
34:38 thought this was a good idea why how and they're like yeah it
34:44 was hard to upgrade it was hard to keep it honestly I don't think it was that
34:49 hard to keep it current I think what was
34:52 hard was justifying the expense of
34:56 re-engineering the motherboard for newer standards re-engineering the uh gpus for
35:04 newer products and justifying that cost
35:09 based on how few of the things you were selling that's what happened especially
35:13 when you could just make a tower which is what everyone wants anyways Apple's complaining about thermal constraints no
35:17 they mean refreshing that product no I know but like like if you someone posted
35:21 a picture comparing the Old Tower systems to the trash can systems and
35:27 there's the objectively better trash can systems selling for the same amount as
35:31 the old Tower systems oh like on eBay and stuff yeah because people just want
35:35 the old Power Systems anyway but Apple's complaining they couldn't refresh it
35:39 because of thermal constraints and I'm looking at that going gpus have gotten
35:42 way more efficient so there's that so CPUs and CPUs well at that class Zeon
35:47 class okay they're the same yeah cuz you could go up to whatever was the highest
35:51 end like I think it was 8 core back then that was a big deal um yeah there no no
35:56 no no this had every everything to do with not wanting to reinvest back into
36:00 it um but either way basically Phil
36:03 Schiller said Apple wants to architect it so we can keep it fresh with regular
36:07 improvements creating a Mac Pro modular system they're also apparently making a
36:12 high-end dis I think it's called PCI
36:19 Express they're also making a high-end display to go with it I will be happy to
36:23 see a return to Apple displays cuz they've done a great job of that
36:28 um although there's way more competition now that's true like way more and
36:33 honestly this is like apple pulling down their pants and taking a big dump on
36:36 Partners like LG who have worked on exclusive like mac only products like
36:41 the 5K ultra fine which by the way is fixed now I don't know if you were on
36:45 the W show where we heard about putting a router too close to it glitching it
36:48 out yeah yeah they're fixed now I don't if I was I don't know if I was on that W
36:51 show but I heard about yeah our unit is fixed that's that's good um oh yeah
36:55 video to come very soon uh you see anything this year but in the meantime
36:59 they're actually releasing a slightly upgraded Mac Pro so the
37:03 $3,000 quad core with dual firepro d300s
37:07 has morphed into a six core with dual d500s still $3,000 uh both models have
37:13 16 gigs of RAM neither has USB type-c or Thunderbolt 3 16 gigs of RAM so this was
37:18 basically a price drop on like some preexisting some existing
37:23 Tech flow plane right do you want to cover a topic while I get while I get it
37:28 fired up so we can show you guys some of the crazy stuff on Flo plane right now
37:31 it's crazy W should I should I cover the video that's coming out tomorrow um or
37:36 just wait for that video to happen let's wait for that video to happen there's
37:41 going to be a big Floatplane related video um
37:45 tomorrow or not or not tomorrow we're
37:49 getting a look from Ed it's filmed oh okay yeah yeah I don't
37:55 I don't know um it doesn't happen it's cool do you want to do something else
37:59 then while I uh uh yeah so scrapyard
38:03 Wars prison Edition not really an actual thing don't worry about that what are
38:06 you talking um inmates in Ohio were in
38:10 this system where they were disassembling it it was like a a a work
38:14 system within the prison I don't know what they're properly called but the the
38:17 idea was that they would disassemble PCS as like a job and inmates in the Ohio
38:22 prison built computers from the PCS that they were supposed to be dismantling for
38:25 recycling the unsupervised inmates later hid these PCS in the ceiling of a
38:31 training room and it's I don't think it's actually uh in here but they
38:35 networked them together investigators found software
38:39 pornography and articles about making drugs and explosives on the machines
38:44 they were caught when it staff flagged unusual levels of internet activity on a
38:49 contractor's account which
38:53 like that's sort of epic
38:58 they built computers into the ceiling a rogue PC on the network was connected to
39:04 port 16
39:11 wow um
39:15 wow okay so they don't they don't do
39:19 white listing they don't do any that kind of stuff he just he just plugged it
39:23 in one of the inmates who set it up described how he had used components
39:26 from other people PCS he plugged the machine into an internet connection
39:30 device in the prison and Bam I'm on the network he told
39:36 investigators bam indeed that that it
39:39 guys just like oh bam where was this
39:43 that's one thing I'm interested in where was this switch I don't know that he just plugged
39:48 into I don't know man here here's all
39:52 the components for some computers and apparently like cables and stuff we're
39:56 going to supervise you and leave exposed switches brilliant freaking brilliant um
40:02 so I'm ready to talk about what's on float playing this week uh Channel super
40:06 fun go cing Burl with drunk goggles oh
40:10 jeez versus Dennis with not drunk goggles wow I sort of still think Burl
40:16 might win Burl's ridiculously good at go-karts and like specifically that
40:21 track he's done a lot so like the fact that he has drunk goggles still up but
40:26 did you win they're gonna have to wait no no yeah yeah no spoilers but I did
40:30 almost throw up like had the dry he he almost threw up and he was dry heing
40:35 that's worth watching it right there but it's but it's all in the name of your
40:38 craft right yeah it's all in the name of fun all in the name of fun uh we've got
40:43 a Techquickie on laser projectors how
40:46 the math those work we've got the much
40:51 anticipated red weapon unboxing that has already generated um
40:58 167 replies wow which on Floatplane is
41:02 like actually a lot check out that speed
41:05 did you see how fast that started playing I did I oh okay good oh God I
41:10 get so much anxiety every single time
41:13 you do anything with flow plane on the stream it looks good and it's working
41:18 though yeah looks looks crisp AF man see
41:22 see these buffer chunks coming in y that is how it works uh do you have the load
41:26 balance stuff going on right now or no no I don't think so okay cool well
41:32 anyway look at that look at that look at that scrubbing working use a saw isn't
41:35 that beautiful is that a saw well that's
41:38 awesome I don't know man I'm just I'm just I got I got to be me
41:43 man um do it for the memes yeah it's all
41:46 for the memes so you opened up a red weapon with a weapon oh my God that's
41:50 right I get it so red weapon uh the ryzen 5 review was simultaneous release
41:55 because of the Embargo uh um MSI gt83 VR
41:59 Titan laptop uh we've got uh warranty
42:02 sticker removal guide just went up oh yeah oh oh this honest answer is what's
42:07 up with the thumbnails that is a really how many replies are on that one uh lot
42:12 251 yeah this one actually I think is getting pushed another week due to the
42:17 ryzen 5 embargo so that's going to be on floow plane for that'll be on FL that's
42:22 a really good video um and then the last one that I'm super stoked on our
42:28 smallest most compact desk PC yet so
42:32 that's actually really really small we need like a pop can for scale or
42:36 something like banana banana for scale Absol
42:39 B um so yeah Floatplane Floatplane Club is going great in case you guys
42:44 were wondering and there's going to be a huge update on the LTT Channel and I
42:47 guess we'll also upload it to Floatplane soon T um soon TM yeah all right
42:53 hoping tomorrow but it might not happen I don't know the original article
42:57 appears from n Gadget this is terrible Uber Uber's hell program
43:04 tracked and targeted lift drivers
43:08 apparently it ran for two years two
43:12 years they called it hell so they placed
43:16 fake LIF Rider accounts around cities in order to map the distribution of lift
43:21 drivers as each Rider can see up to
43:24 eight nearby drivers monitor monitoring the lift driver habits Uber noticed that
43:29 some drivers were double apping driving for lift and Uber so I actually got
43:34 picked up by an Uber driver that had a lift sticker on the back of his car Uber
43:39 then sent more rides and offered incentives to those drivers to keep them
43:44 too busy to drive for Lift wow uh the
43:48 program was discontinued after Uber paid tens of millions per week in bonuses
43:58 oh my goodness so basically the idea was
44:01 if you signed up for a Lyft account you
44:04 just made more money from Uber that's ridiculous unbelievable and they're kind
44:08 of uh Nintendo this is um the
44:12 original article is from RS Technica and I love their headline Nintendo hates
44:18 money discontinues The Nest classic did we ever get one no so that's it
44:23 ridiculously difficult to buy it's officially limited edition now yeah
44:27 ignoring continued demand Nintendo will stop producing the system this month
44:31 this is probably more to do with Nintendo making far more manufacturing
44:36 switches like they might actually maybe they're off the same line like maybe
44:40 they're converting the line to produce more switches maybe there is a reason um
44:45 but that is kind of a bummer they sold
44:48 1.5 million units from its November 11th
44:51 launch until New Year's so to put that in perspective Wii U sold 14 million in
44:56 its lifetime our representative said that the nest classic wasn't intended to be an ongoing
45:00 long-term product however due to high demand we did add extra shipments to our
45:04 original plans The Nest Classic Controller will also be
45:09 discontinued I feel like it's a wrong move I feel like Nintendo CU like if if
45:15 they can sell like I feel like it doesn't matter because it's Nintendo but
45:19 I feel like if they can sell another 1.5 million units maybe it's worth like
45:23 extending that building a little bit adding another line just DED it to
45:28 Classics you know it's not like Nintendo has a lot of products yeah exactly I
45:34 mean unless you count like amiibos and like trash like that I mean like actual
45:39 Entertainment Systems yeah and the accessories for the entertainment
45:43 systems are often built by Third parties ex are officially licensed by Nintendo
45:47 exactly so
45:50 like um it's Nintendo and they will always succeed it's just it just seems
45:55 like a very silly thing to do all right what else we got
46:00 here American colleges to offer scholarships to play video games so the
46:05 original article here is from Bloomberg hooray and it's making its way
46:10 onto my screen slowly but surely um at least it was trying to it's
46:15 not trying anymore the growth of Esports has colleges and universities developing
46:18 teams to compete as prizes are growing and sponsors are taking notice and I you
46:24 know it's uh far be it from universities
46:28 and colleges to uh to not notice money
46:32 to be made off of students that they don't have to
46:37 pay yeah um coaches say that Esports
46:41 requires the same discipline and decision-making as other activities and
46:44 all those same life skills go into gaming this is a developmental tool some
46:49 of the teams practice 20 hours a week on top of studying game film and team
46:52 building projects and about 20 to 30 matches or tournaments are played
46:56 annually University of Utah is the first school in the power five the five
47:01 richest athletic conferences in college sports to offer scholarships for video
47:05 gaming the team will start off playing League of Legends University of
47:08 California Irving Irvine Irving Irvine
47:11 recently built an orts specific Arena on its campus and the Big 10 conference's
47:16 television network earlier this year began broadcasting competitions between
47:19 Club teams and its member schools interesting W it's really
47:24 happening it is really
47:27 happening phone accelerometers this was originally uh posted by Tech
47:33 crunch oh man researchers demonstrate how pins and other info can be gathered
47:39 through phone movement holy so researchers were able to successfully
47:44 guess your PIN based on movement of the
47:47 phone you know what that's really impressive that's crazy even just the
47:51 thought that like hey you notice how people's hands move in similar ways when
47:55 they go to type but like that's so they analyzed the data from rotation sensors
48:00 gyroscopes and accelerometers and they were able to crack four-digit pins with
48:05 70% accuracy on the first try and 100%
48:10 accuracy by the fifth try I wonder I
48:13 would love to like make a video about this meet these
48:18 guys and then find how they're doing it cuz like if if you try to do it
48:21 one-handed like yeah that's actually probably pretty easy but if you lay it
48:24 down and then use one of those like with the tips on it and lightly press the
48:29 buttons is that enough of an impact you know I mean like find where
48:33 the line they are sensitive yeah they are like if you ever just like fired it
48:37 up so you can see the raw data from the sensors and like moved like they're
48:41 they're very sensitive they're really sensitive it' be that would I would find
48:44 that very interesting unlike your camera and GPS mobile apps and websites don't
48:49 need to ask permission to access information from these sensors so a site
48:54 accessed with malicious code via your mobile browser could activate
48:57 sensor-based monitoring in the background when browser Tabs are left
49:00 open Crazy hey and if you're like me with 50 browser tabs open at any given
49:05 moment then on your mobile device this is a yeah seriously I I just don't close
49:12 them the unfortunate thing about that is that means that will be me
49:16 eventually cuz I held out I do you
49:19 remember do you remember desktop browser tabs when we first started working together I couldn't even handle it it
49:23 maxed out at like five now who I think I have like before I I just reformatted
49:28 but like before that I think I had like eight or nine Windows of Chrome open all
49:33 with lots of tabs it's the only way to be man it's
49:38 the only way to be yeah and you know what the other only way to be is done
49:43 the W show yeah so I think that's pretty much it you guys we'll see you again
49:47 next week same bat Time same bat
49:53 Channel that's really not song a copywritten thing
50:00 no I'm
50:03 dead I forgot I I was mentioning you know how we like bring the coach in yeah
50:09 it would be way to with the outro us
50:12 taking the
50:15 co bring the I'll ask if he want to extra
50:20 animation that was clear
