0:01 so this is the ZBOX which I looked at a ZBOX a little while ago this is a
0:05 different one so this is the ZBOX Blu-ray it includes a copy of CyberLink
0:09 power DVD full version Blu-ray player
0:12 and this is a customizable barebones
0:16 Mini PC that features as you may or may not be able to figure out Blu-Ray so
0:21 it's powered by NVIDIA ion which means you also have Intel atom going on inside
0:26 and it has a Blu-ray disc player which I have mentioned a couple of times already
0:30 and why don't we start getting this thing open because most of the other
0:33 stuff on the outside of the box is all stuff that we can see by opening the
0:39 box so what do you need to make a
0:43 barebones mini PC into a complete Mini
0:46 PC well first you'll need a 2 and 1/2 in
0:49 drive and I would say hard drive but you don't necessarily have to use a hard
0:52 drive you could use an SSD drive if you wanted a nice silent Blu-ray capable
0:58 media PC H you'll also need some sodium
1:02 memory and I'll find out once we get a little bit further into this whether
1:05 that is ddr2 or DDR3 looks like it is
1:08 ddr2 up to a maximum of 4 gigs so that would be two sockets okay and then last
1:14 but not least you will need an operating system such as Windows 7 okay so here we
1:20 have instruction oh what is this this is
1:24 a quick start guide which gives you the full specifications of the unit so why
1:27 don't we have a look at what that is so you got an Intel atom dual core you've
1:32 got the nm10 express chipset we talked about memory already Next Generation
1:36 NVIDIA ion GPU so that is the second gen one we have one USB 2 one combo e satus
1:42 / USB 2 and then we have two USB 3 ports
1:45 that's a pretty cool feature okay we talked about this gigabit
1:49 Len uh Wi-Fi
1:52 n two channel highdef audio although you're going to have support for uh 7.1
1:58 over HDMI at least I'm assuming you will you
2:02 better you do otherwise it wouldn't be a
2:05 very good Blu-ray player would it okay
2:08 let's open this up a little bit front view I'm just trying wow this thing's
2:13 like a it's a poster look at this okay so front view system installation
2:18 connecting usb3 devices connecting a bunch of different devices they give you
2:21 a color guide for installing your memory module installing a hard disk and
2:25 installing a mini PCI Express card oh so
2:29 I see okay so it doesn't come with Wi-Fi
2:32 necessarily it says it is 802.11 BGN
2:36 compatible and enhanced wireless security compatible so it looks like you
2:41 will need to install a mini PCIe Wi-Fi
2:45 card should you desire Wi-Fi all right next we
2:51 have this which includes some stuff you
2:54 have some warranty terms so you have a one-year warranty in the Americas there
2:59 there's your CyberLink Blu-ray disc solution and hopefully the serial number
3:04 isn't on there anywhere where you guys are going to like see that okay there's
3:08 your support CD which includes drivers which you should download the latest
3:12 from the Zotac website here's your users manual which also includes a lot of the
3:16 stuff that's on that poster that we found and let's have a look at the unit
3:21 itself so the first thing oh actually no we're going to get to the unit in a
3:24 minute we've got a vis amount here I'm not going to bother taking that out cuz
3:28 it looks pretty firmly and entrenched in there but it's the same as the uh one
3:32 you have on the normal ZBOX by a look at things and we have a power brick which
3:36 is quite a bit larger than some of the uh atom based PC power bricks that I've
3:41 seen but I guess part of that is cuz we are powering an optical drive we do have
3:45 some mounting screws for the Visa Mount as well as a DVI to VGA adapter also in
3:52 here it's quite a bit heavier too I mean I guess it doesn't really matter for a
3:55 PC uh versus for like a netbook then I
3:58 would actually care how heavy the power adapter
4:02 is because you have to move around a netbook whereas with a PC you don't
4:06 really all right there we go it actually
4:10 kind of looks like a notebook doesn't it like from the bottom I I would I would
4:15 guess that that's a notebook and that there would be like a screen on the other side that flips up like this so
4:19 anyway let's have a look at the front it's a very slick looking little unit I
4:22 like it you got like a brushed silver on the top along with a shiny glossy black
4:27 here with a glowing blue ring all right then and on the very front you've got
4:31 your Blu-ray Drive which is included by the way you've got an SD reader your USB
4:36 2.0 Port USB 3.0 super speed Port
4:40 headphones microphone and a power switch
4:43 moving along to this side you've got a little Zotac logo there which is quite
4:47 classy hopefully you can see that in the camera moving along to the back we've
4:51 got our power in a Kensington lock cuz you might want to lock this baby up
4:55 you've got optical audio out HDMI out DVI out so you got all the options you
5:00 need remember you have VGA via this one with an adapter if you want this is a
5:04 USB 2/ eeta port gigabit Lan and another
5:08 USB 3.0 Port remember USB 3.0 ports are
5:12 backwards compatible so you can easily plug USB 2.0 devices into them so here
5:18 we can see we've got easy access via six
5:22 nice large size screws just standard phillips head so you can take that whole
5:26 thing off install your drive install your memory should use to desire and
5:31 surprisingly that's all there pretty much is to say about it so thank you for
5:34 checking out my unboxing of the you know what I wish I told you guys the product
5:39 model at some point the HD ID
5:42 33br so the BR is for Blu-ray and don't forget to subscribe to Linus Tech tips
