0:03 well hello hello everyone thank you for joining me here on the W show it's going
0:09 to be just me this week that is to say
0:12 unless uh twitch pulls a Dennis or Riot
0:16 which seems pretty likely although I think he is busy editing a video right
0:21 now so I'm really not sure if it's going to be an option but I've actually got a
0:27 fair number of good topics this week
0:30 asterisk because some of the good topics that I'll be discussing this week are
0:34 actually ones that took place um more last week than this week but I didn't
0:40 get a chance to uh talk about them last week because Luke got all distracting
0:45 with his dreamy blue eyes and all that stuff so Luke and Brandon are actually
0:49 on an embargoed trip right now they are in Switzerland of all places pretty
0:54 freaking cool which means that I am on my own except that yes twitch chat is
1:00 completely exploding thank you for that twit chat I'll tell you what I will ask
1:03 Dennis to join me for a few minutes here but I really don't know how much time
1:07 he's going to have
1:11 um you guys are
1:14 merciless just for a few
1:17 minutes that's always how my requests start hey uh can we do that thing I want
1:23 to do it'll only take a few
1:27 minutes um so I've got a pretty good show for for you guys today though some
1:31 some of the topics are actually left over from last week like I said but there is some pretty interesting stuff
1:35 from this week so in spite of my inability to order one the HTC Vive
1:39 managed to sell 15,000 units in 10 minutes talking about the implications
1:44 of that uh Samsung has a 15 terabyte SSD
1:48 I'm I'm waving but my body language I'll
1:51 try I'll try you oh
1:55 Jesus hi Dennis welcome to the show um hold on I'm just going to tell people
1:59 about some of topics we got this week so John McAfee revealed on National
2:03 Television how to uh hack into the San
2:07 Bernardino Killer's iPhone which uh the
2:11 method he outlined I mean I'm no iPhone security expert but uh caused me to
2:16 raise an eyebrow and I'm not the only one uh Far Cry primals Map same map as
2:22 Far Cry 4 more on this at 11 and joining me for the show is Dennis with one of
2:27 the gigantic food of his people around his neck would you say that
2:32 shrimp is a food of the Taiwanese people yeah yeah this is fresh big shrimp I got
2:38 from Taiwan okay excellent I'll roll the intro
2:42 now
2:45 oh thank you Ed made
2:48 it it see it's me and Luke yeah with shirts that we no longer wear but that
2:53 we used to wear those used to be like our trademark
2:56 shirts
3:00 y we don't have that couch no we do not have that couch anymore I do still have
3:05 that shirt somewhere and Luke may still have that I think it's like a Team
3:09 Liquid hoodie he may still have it somewhere but I'm I'm genuinely
3:13 uncertain if if any we definitely don't have the red cushions anymore those are
3:17 gone yeah yeah I actually gave that couch to uh to a friend of mine who runs
3:21 the Badminton Center now so uh badminton you're Asian what do you know about
3:26 Badminton you like badminton I play taiwan's PE class we
3:32 play a lot of bingum but I'm not
3:35 professional I don't think I'm as good as you but I think you don't have to say
3:39 that just cuz like I'm you know better
3:42 than the other people here I think okay
3:46 okay we should play sometime we should play sometime maybe we'll uh maybe we'll
3:49 get an opportunity to engage in some kind of fun exciting uh sports sports
3:54 thing in sometime in the next little bit we'll see how your uh your physical
3:58 sporting prowess is um so let's jump
4:01 into our first topic for the day this was posted by Sam fiser on the Forum I
4:05 have not wh I forgot to test if my screen capture was working so uh it
4:11 helps if you plug in the HDMI cable and
4:15 whoa look at that the stream computer
4:18 worked for the first time ever the HTC
4:22 Vive sold over 15,000 units in 10 minutes that's the
4:28 Taiwanese people made that's my people yep so uh well they I mean they make
4:33 pretty much everything that's not made in that's not made in China so it's like
4:38 it's it's like Taiwan and Japan if you want something that's sort of A step
4:42 above China then that's where you're going to want to go so HTC has been
4:45 hanging on for dear life they can't make a phone that anyone wants so they
4:50 partnered up with valve they introduced the HTC Vive the initial concept looked
4:54 really interesting for those of you who need a bit of a primer on it where they
4:58 had this idea where instead of having a Tracker right in front of the user they
5:02 were going to have these Lighthouse towers for extremely low latency um
5:07 motion excuse me motion um position
5:10 detection and the initial units were frankly not very impressive SS did you
5:15 try the Vive at CES this year okay no I didn't get to see that at CES this year
5:19 the Vive grew up the Vive put on its big boy pants and started to look like a
5:24 legitimate competitor for the Oculus
5:27 Rift now I to my knowledge Oculus has
5:31 not released any of the sales figures for the rift but the Vive was priced at
5:37 if I recall correctly it was uh
5:40 $7.99 us uh let me just let me just yeah
5:44 so the Vive was priced at $800 leading many myself included to believe that
5:50 that combined with the cost associated with running VR on a computer that's
5:55 powerful enough to run VR would really hurt initial adoption
6:01 I mean 15 can you believe 15,000 people
6:05 bought a pair of goggles that goes on their head that runs with like a handful
6:08 of programs and they have to have a computer starting at probably around
6:12 $1,000 to $1300 to even use that's kind
6:16 a lot have you tried VR at all I I
6:21 try I didn't I didn't try entire thing I have a I tried a glasses thing in CES
6:27 didn't have much time but I I would love to try that the Vive thanks Dennis
6:33 you're a great co-host here you're help helping me out a lot here is amazing
6:38 really you guys you guys all have tried it uh a few people tried it yes I didn't
6:43 even see it you don't have to be so shy man like if someone's if like me or Luke
6:48 is like trying something at CS you can be like can I try it did L's I don't
6:52 think we saw that CS um yeah I'm pretty
6:55 sure yeah yeah I'm pretty sure and we went to the HTC booth but we saw the
7:00 this a scale thing that's all we saw oh
7:04 not CS the the thing before CS the first
7:08 day so I didn't see so the implications of this are pretty huge from my
7:13 perspective I mean I I am willing to bet money based on that HTC has never uh you
7:19 know come out and said yeah we sold 15,000 of our new flagship phone in 10
7:23 minutes that it has been a long time since HTC has had a product fly off the
7:29 shelf like this and for them to get
7:32 their foot in the door in a real way whether it's the partnership with valve
7:36 whether it's the fact that the the Vive is just a really impressive piece of
7:40 Hardware this could be a breath of fresh
7:43 air into the lungs of HTC and I personally have been kind of rooting for
7:47 them all this time CU they were that they were that kind of upstart from
7:52 nowhere I mean people forget this but they were kind of like a OnePlus many
7:56 years ago when Android was just kind of
7:59 starting to to chip away at the market share of the other phone makers and they
8:04 were kind of a big deal they made a lot of really important phones over the
8:08 years and as much as phones have kind of
8:11 lost their their glamour um with anyone
8:14 but Apple Samsung or actually LG to a certain extent lately unable to really
8:20 Dazzle people with their new phone releases um if HTC is the one out of all
8:25 those guys that figured out okay we're going to jump into this then I'm I'm
8:30 proud of them I'm proud of them great job guys and to be clear I do recognize
8:33 that Samsung has the whole gear VR thing going on but you guys need to recognize
8:38 that the Vive and the Oculus Rift are
8:41 completely different pieces of Hardware compared to something like gear VR it is
8:47 not the same thing at all so um yeah I
8:52 guess that's I am blown you know here I
8:55 want to hear from you guys and this is this is important this is important you
8:59 guys I want you to answer as honestly as possible did you pre-order a
9:06 Vive um or you know what did you pre-order a gaming VR headset and I'm
9:11 going to I'm going to put all the options on here so Vive and and I'm
9:16 really serious I'm leaving out the turnup option okay so Vive Rift both
9:22 none let's get that poll created here and I want to hear from you guys by the
9:26 way I did eventually manage to get
9:29 everyone stop answering in the twitch chat for crying out loud that's not how
9:32 we do things I can't even read that can they even see your your thing because is
9:37 oh gone I know and they make it impossible for me to post my links look
9:42 at the link click the bitly you guys the LTT bot bitly so uh let's have a look so
9:47 guys to be clear I did eventually manage to get a Vive pre-order in it took me a
9:52 little while it took me about 40 minutes so I'm deeply concerned that I'm not
9:55 going to be getting a particularly early unit which is going to set back our
9:59 coverage for it but whatever there's nothing I can do about that at this
10:02 point um so I did get one so we definitely have an order in for a rift
10:06 and we definitely have an order in for aive and we're going to be really looking into
10:11 um how how video cards perform with
10:15 these what the experiences are like um I'd love to even maybe Branch out and I
10:19 haven't talked to Luke about this so don't quote me on this but I'd love to
10:22 even do some game and app reviews specific specifically for these products
10:26 because while I recognize especially now seeing the results of this poll that
10:31 very few of you are actually interested
10:34 enough in gaming grade VR to plunk down
10:38 you know I think it ended up costing me about 1,200 Canadian rubles for just one
10:44 of them to plunk down that kind of money on on a gaming headset um I think it is
10:50 super important for the future and it's important for us to get familiar with
10:55 these devices so we can continue to provide you guys with context relevant
11:00 information about the new devices that will be coming in the future and it's
11:04 also important for us to have these devices here in the office so poor
11:07 Dennis can try them yeah where do you have needle what oh uh
11:14 okay these that that is that is an interesting question and I'm glad you
11:17 asked so I have these um these needle
11:21 capped syringes uh here on the table and the
11:26 finger yeah uh it's called nail nail
11:29 polish yep nail polish um which ironically does not polish your nail so
11:35 much as cover your nail with paint nail
11:39 polish is actually a bit of a misnomer oh a misnomer is is a is a name for
11:44 something that not right it's not it doesn't accurately describe it yeah see
11:50 this this is this is how the arrangement works we don't actually pay him um but
11:54 he teaches us about Taiwanese culture and uh and edits videos and then you
11:59 know we we teach him English we're not doing a very good job of our end of the
12:03 bargain though sorry
12:07 Den um car what's that for okay so
12:10 actually this I'm going to be doing a live experiment with the here I'll
12:15 actually I'll switch to the camera angle that I'm planning to use for no no it's
12:19 not a big deal so I'll be doing a live experiment where I had a lot of people
12:24 comment on my painting video of This gtx980 Ti that the the text here the
12:30 gtx980 ti really needs to be a different
12:33 color to make it pop CU this used to be black so my theory is that I can do a
12:39 poor man's like epoxy resin fill
12:43 technique to color this with a syringe
12:46 and some nail polish that is an actual technique that's used to make things
12:50 like um high-end case badges um and
12:54 emblems so where they'll actually have a um a metal stamped or or cast sticker
13:01 and then they fill in with different colors um so I'm hoping that I can do
13:05 that for sort of under $10 kind of thing
13:09 but I don't know if it's going to work but I was if I ran out of topics on my
13:12 it easy to get a needles yeah it's just
13:16 a it's just a needle you just tell the pharmacy you're diabetic what is that
13:21 diabetic oh um yeah that means you have like a brain disorder that makes it so
13:26 when no no I'm just kidding diabetes yes diabet I know diabetes yes you can also
13:31 get them at safe injection sites they're very nice the ones that have at the safe
13:36 injection sites are better well the people are very nice all the people are
13:39 nice they don't judge you oh oh how did
13:43 you know um so posted by Nona hexa on
13:47 the Forum the original article here is from Computer World Samsung ships the
13:52 world's highest capacity SSD with 15
13:55 terab of storage now 15 terab of storage
13:59 so so Dennis do you know how much overall storage capacity we have in our
14:04 entire server room um two 200 terab um
14:10 actually that is that is very very close
14:13 yep we are somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 terabytes of storage now that 200
14:19 terabytes of storage takes up um one
14:23 entire 4u rack that's all magnetic
14:27 storage and another Ur rack with the
14:30 necessary um uh host bus adapters and
14:33 and trays and 2 and 1 half in ssds it's not a very efficiently laid out case
14:37 it's only got 24 ssds in it but so far we've taken up eight years worth of
14:40 racks and then we've got another machine that's just got like a like a temporary
14:45 like a Dumping Ground for um for offloaded footage that makes up the rest
14:49 of it with a mere what 12 of these
14:55 ssds we would be cuz we've actually got about 185 terab so we would be we would
15:00 have the same capacity of storage that we have in our entire server room in
15:07 like what I could fit in my two hands just like this this thing looks freaking
15:12 bananas now it is still I believe it is
15:15 SATA I don't even think it no no it is
15:18 SAS so this is a SAS Drive uh they're calling it The pm
15:23 1633a and it is the highest capacity solid state drive um it's Peak
15:29 So Random read and write speeds of up to, 3200 iOS per second so to be clear
15:36 those read ey Ops are pretty darn good
15:39 those right ey Ops are not particularly impressive so what Samsung's going after
15:44 here is uh write infrequently read very
15:50 very frequently and with very very high
15:53 data storage density applications and there is definitely a place for this
15:59 like for example um while it doesn't
16:02 have the same kind of performance that a PCI Express based um preferably NVMe SSD
16:08 would have because it uses a SAS interface it's a you can connect a lot
16:14 more of them to a system just with host bus adapters or Raid cards so you can
16:19 connect like whack loads of them you're not limit limited by how many PCI
16:22 Express slots you have and in addition to that uh it is hot swappable so you
16:28 don't have to power down the system take it out and swap a card if you have a
16:32 drive failure or something along those
16:36 lines this is freaking incredible 15.36%
16:59 over its 5year warranty holy freaking
17:04 crap so let me tell you there are some data center Architects that are drooling
17:11 over this and I I'm personally drooling too because I can think of all kinds of
17:15 things that I would love to use a 15 tab SSD
17:19 for wow so there they're saying that the
17:23 random read iops performance is about a thousand times that of a SAS type hard
17:27 disk drive and the sequential read and WR speeds are more than twice the speed
17:31 of a typical SATA SSD because this is not just SAS it is SAS 12 gbit so that
17:36 is the because of I believe it's due to
17:40 the controller complexity and the power consumption that is the next step for
17:46 the for what remember guys SAS and SATA are very closely related and have and
17:51 have evolved with each other so that would be the next step for SATA if they
17:54 could figure out how to solve those problems and if there was really a need
17:59 for a desktop system to have so many drives connected to it anymore with
18:02 between the cloud and Nas storage I can't think of a reason why most
18:06 personal computers really need more than one or maybe two drives so the so the
18:13 desire for this you know 12 gabit
18:16 interface that you can connect you know anywhere between six or 12 or however
18:20 many SATA ports you would have on a motherboard drives is is really not very
18:24 high and and the cost of implementing it is very high I've learned some turning
18:29 fap Bess inste we don't really refer to
18:33 it as fap externally we call it fast as possible take a key yeah but uh that's
18:42 good they know what I'm talking about yes they call you that word too yeah
18:47 they they Pro they probably do um so
18:51 what was I going to say all right so the way that Samsung is achieving all this
18:54 capacity is with their stackable vertical nand they are right now Far and
18:59 Away the industry leader in that technology with guys like Intel very
19:04 much playing catchup so let's let's see there's actually a lot of really great
19:08 technical details this is a really good article from Computer World here so
19:12 they're using the same blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah what are
19:15 we looking at so how many 256 gbit dies are on
19:19 here wow 256 GB on a chip that is larger
19:24 than the tip of a finger so they're stacked in 16 layers to form a single
19:29 512 Gigabyte package so there's a total
19:33 of 32 of those flash packages in the 1536 terab Drive um this is actually a
19:39 question that a lot of people have asked
19:42 whether it's directly to me or just I've seen this this question on forums and
19:46 stuff over the years and here I I will pose it to you Dennis I'll see if you
19:50 can I'll see if you can answer the question I'll see if I I can't understand question so you know how a
19:54 hard drive is like this big yeah okay and an SSD is so small like they're like
20:00 this big or in the cases of laptops remember the one you probably edited the
20:04 one on m.2 right yeah like they're tiny they're just a little like they
20:08 basically are like a thicker SD card like crazy so a lot of people have asked
20:14 over the years why don't they just pack
20:18 as many flash chips as they can into something the size of a hard drive for
20:22 desktops then we could have had high capacity I mean theoretically if Samsung
20:27 can make a 15 2 and2 in SSD today why
20:30 can't they make a 60 Tab 3 and2 in SSD
20:36 today I don't know why but that's s
20:42 doable and in theory it does and I'll explain why just because a lot of people
20:46 have brought this up over the years the reason is actually due to a couple of
20:50 things number one is cost and number two is actually very closely related to
20:54 number one and it is complexity so the cost of the nand chip
20:59 it it doesn't get cheaper if you make them bigger in fact the the the
21:05 manufacturing process for Nan chips is
21:08 refined to the point where down to down to micrometers they've determined what
21:14 the optimal size is for op the optimal
21:17 interconnect speed and all that nonsense that goes on inside of a chip there
21:21 there is no point there's no benefit to making it physically larger and putting
21:26 it into a larger package because you might actually end up with a latency
21:30 penalty for example that would hurt performance so there's the cost so just
21:35 because you can put you know 3,000 flash
21:39 chips into something the size of a like a 5 and a quar inch optical drive like
21:44 yeah why don't we just have 5 and a qu inch ssds and we'll put them in our Optical Baye uh doesn't mean that we
21:49 could afford it and then number two is complexity also related to cost so
21:54 building a controller that supports more
21:57 communication Channel out to all of these chips and can handle
22:01 things like uh load balancing and and the the leveling of the wearing out of
22:06 all the different Nan chips uh in the drive building that controller is
22:11 extremely difficult and the more the more CH the more communication it needs
22:15 to do the more calculation it needs to do the more expensive and the more
22:19 complex it needs to be and unless you can sell over a certain threshold of
22:24 these controllers you're not going to make back what you spent in R&D no
22:29 matter how much you end up charging for it so you have to wait until the
22:34 economies of scale make enough sense that you can build a complex enough
22:37 controller that you can attach enough Nan chips Nan chips that you can afford
22:41 in order to make an SSD of a higher capacity so the solution that we've been
22:44 left with is you just have small ssds and big metal adapters if you really
22:49 really really want to put them into a 3 and 1 half in
22:53 Bay I'm so lost I'm so lost sorry guys that's okay
23:00 hopefully you guys aren't lost this is great retro capes says
23:04 you're having a Vietnam flashback I just trying to process all
23:10 the words you say this yeah sorry I talk pretty fast although I read a really
23:15 interesting article uh once Ed actually linked it to me I would love to be able
23:20 to find it by the way we've got the final results for our straw pool here
23:23 91% of you did not pre-order a gaming VR headset with a whopping 8% that doesn't
23:29 add up what the hell okay uh anyway rounding error 91%
23:37 of you did not pre-order a gaming VR headset with 8% of you saying that you
23:42 did and only 1% of you saying that you pre-ordered both so uh very Niche very
23:49 expensive but apparently around the world you know beyond our audience uh
23:53 where we've got you know about 150 people saying they bit the bullet and
23:56 went for it there are apparent ly thousands and thousands of people
24:00 revealing a much a much uh healthier appetite for this stuff than I would
24:04 have necessarily expected especially given how few people have actually had
24:10 an opportunity to try it when's um
24:13 when's the VR thing coming out is like coming on these couple five years couple
24:18 years or um well one of the headsets is shipping in April so we'll have one here
24:24 like very soon um however if you're a
24:27 Mac User you may not be able to enjoy that same privilege so this was
24:32 originally posted by Master disaster on the Forum original article here is from
24:37 PC Gamer Oculus founder Rift will come
24:41 to Mac if Apple quote ever release a
24:44 good computer wow burn and to be clear to be clear um
24:54 and this is this is right in the article very sensationalist headline I don't blame them um when your entire business
24:59 is whether or not people click on your article or not I don't I don't NE as
25:03 long as you're not being deceptive I don't actually blame you for for trying
25:06 to attract people to click on it but um
25:10 it does say he did clarify saying that
25:13 he was referring to Apple's lack of high-end GPU support even in its
25:19 high-end systems that the rift is dependent on so he went on to say you
25:23 can buy a $6,000 Mac Pro with a top-of-the-line AMD firepro d700 and it
25:28 still doesn't match Oculus is recommended specs I mean remember guys
25:32 Oculus is asking for what r9290 or a
25:35 gtx970 graphics card I mean we're talking a current gen Enthusiast grade
25:40 graphics card whereas Apple over the
25:43 last little while unless you look at their mobile lineup has really
25:47 deemphasized the importance of GPU and to be clear I don't mean mobile laptops
25:51 their laptops some of them I think still have decent gpus in them but nothing
25:55 high-end I mean a lot of people say you know one is why did you why do you use
25:59 the Razer Blade 14 it's just a MacBook with a better
26:04 GPU why do I have to explain why I use it because the MacBook is a great piece
26:10 of Hardware is MacBook Pro to be clear uh the MacBook Pro is a great piece of
26:14 Hardware but it has a freaking freaking
26:17 crabtastic GPU for what it is and for how much it costs that's why the Razer
26:21 Blade 14 makes a lot of sense to me um
26:25 so I I I guess that's pretty much all there is to to really say about that I
26:30 was kind of I was going to Riff on this with Luke if he was here this week a
26:33 little bit more but um maybe Dennis I'll get your thoughts uh
26:43 what speechless what I don't
26:46 know do you think Apple makes good
26:49 enough computers for gaming I never seen
26:52 people playing games on Mac mostly they
26:56 do media things like Photoshop or illustrator or video editing but serly I
27:01 never seen people play games on Mac Oh
27:05 Nick he he has a Mac yeah get wrecked
27:08 Berle he always he played like stupid little game when he was in college in
27:13 class every class yeah got in class how
27:16 did he pass did he get did he get better grades than you yes in every class but
27:21 no my grammar is better than his your grammar is better than his yes but like
27:29 good yeah no no no they has a grammar
27:32 test I got 100% go wait you guys are in BCIT
27:37 why are you doing grammar tests Communications cuz we have communications diplomas Communications
27:43 that's what our education what do you mean Communications is what you do you never even graduated yeah well that's
27:49 why my communication is okay there was a law class that we had and I never
27:53 studied and I always just played Age of Empires in it and I would just
27:56 subconsciously listen and I got it and failed you sucking hm Empire yeah
28:03 so so you work hard on H Empire but you
28:06 suck I work on law I'm I pass still I
28:09 think we can all agree that Age of Empires is much more important to his current line of work than
28:18 law all right so um moving moving on
28:22 with actually the show this is a big
28:26 deal and hopefully we can get to weigh in on this one this was posted by Mech
28:30 777 on the Forum original article here is from Tech PowerUp let's go ahead and
28:35 pull that up oh you know what I just realized I've been totally derping and I
28:40 haven't been posting the articles in the twitch chat normally Luke does that for
28:43 me I'm sorry guys there you go there's the article from tech power up there um
28:48 and now I'm going to try and find my way back to it for crying out loud okay
28:51 there we go Windows store games are
28:55 going to be limited in some pretty fre freaking crappy ways I mean Microsoft
29:02 the more times they commit to the PC Gamer the more times they turn around
29:08 and take a steaming dump on the PC Gamer
29:12 especially the Enthusiast PC Gamer and I understand I understand that if all you
29:17 play is like what what's it called like Zuma or like you know uh uh uh what's
29:23 that stupid game that my sister played with the Cafe Diner Dash or you know
29:29 whatever if that's all you if that's all you play on your PC you are technically
29:35 still a PC Gamer and I'm not going to be down on that like yeah you're not like
29:38 OG enough you're not hardcore enough you don't have a five-digit steam ID yo you
29:43 know I'm not I'm not going to be like that or anything
29:48 but why take a crap on the Enthusiast
29:51 Gamers who do invest in Hardware that runs your operating system and not let
29:57 them take full advantage of it so word on the street right now the way that
30:01 it's looking right now is that Windows store games may not have proper support
30:07 for um adaptive vsync SLI and Crossfire
30:12 modding or even proper full screen game
30:16 support because while it is so it what
30:20 it appears that they are going to be doing is running these games as window
30:28 apps so technically that's going to run
30:31 in window full screen so I do know and I
30:34 haven't I apologize in advance because I haven't it's it's not 100% clear um how
30:40 many of these limitations will affect how many games and with which video
30:43 cards what I do know is that NVIDIA
30:47 supports g-sync for example in window
30:50 full screen AMD on the other hand does
30:53 not appear at this time to have a solution for AMD free sync in Windows
30:58 full screen so while news breaking
31:02 originally that there might be exclusive titles uh I believe the upcoming Gears
31:07 of War release is going to be exclusive to the Windows store and I was like sure
31:14 okay I get it I mean hey look everyone else is doing it you know whether you're
31:18 Ubisoft or valve or EA or or whatever everyone else is doing it so fine I get
31:23 it you want to to drive the adoption of your platform but if you are going to
31:27 stunt your platform by killing things
31:30 like SLI and Crossfire support I mean killing it even worse than the game
31:35 developers implementing it poorly then what's your
31:42 problem like I get I get I I get the
31:46 economics I get the business strategy of
31:49 not wanting to give up a cut of the game
31:52 that you are selling to some third party distribution service like steam if you
31:57 just want to that money fine I understand that you know everybody's got
32:01 to make money but if you your game at
32:05 the same time um then that becomes just that just
32:14 becomes it's just rubbing salt in the wound and I've got some people asking
32:19 about Tim Sweeney's comments unfortunately that situation we were
32:23 looking into it before W show is a whole lot of he said she said right now maybe
32:27 we can talk about it a little bit once the dust settles next week but right now
32:31 that whole situation between epic games and Microsoft right now is something
32:35 that I that I don't really want to want to touch so Dennis let's get your
32:39 thoughts on this about the the window thing yeah
32:43 yeah so they don't support full screen and some V things so they do support
32:48 full screen it's but it's like borderless full screen so you don't
32:52 actually it's it's a borderless window so it's technically running in windowed
32:56 mode like you can alt Tab out of it yeah and into other appliations it doely take
33:01 the experience but you don't see the borders around it but what that means
33:05 because of some complications in the video card driver is that certain
33:10 Advanced features that require the video card driver to fully take control of the
33:15 application are not able to function and these are these are these are functions
33:20 that so someone might buy one of these and they will get sort of The Full
33:24 Experience um in this situation missing
33:28 some stuff potentially um but some people will go as far as to buy two of
33:31 these so they'll spend an entire additional like $800 on their gaming
33:35 system in order to theoretically double their performance in SLI so Microsoft is
33:39 taking a big poo on that oh so like the Windows have full contr up the entire
33:44 thing yeah oh I don't like that I like I
33:49 like everything you can just come true and you don't have to buy something for
33:54 that brand like to be clear Microsoft
33:58 isn't offering an alternative Microsoft video card they're just completely
34:02 kneecapping the functionality and not giving you any recourse whatsoever I
34:05 don't like that so there you go guys you
34:08 heard it here first Dennis doesn't like that and I don't like it either so
34:14 Microsoft if you guys are
34:19 watching yeah thank you Dennis all right
34:22 so uh let's move on to our next topic here uh actually oh we should we should
34:27 probably do oh no this one's this one's too this one's too good to pass up I was
34:31 going to do sponsors no I'll do I'll do sponsors first I'll do sponsors first
34:34 we'll jump into that that other topic after so first sponsor is linda.com
34:39 Dennis what do you know about linda.com you can watch videos and learn and you
34:43 can go through all the script and you can go along you can download it to your
34:47 app on your iOS or Android to your iPad
34:52 you can watch it on the go you can watch on the bus or when you are doing
34:56 exercise EX size right that's actually surprisingly
35:02 good he's doing it off memory too I'm adding so many okay so whether you're
35:07 looking to supercharge your hobby or you want to uh you know Kickstart a new
35:11 career path linda.com has more than 3,000 courses available in topics like
35:16 web development photography visual design Excel WordPress Photoshop video
35:21 editing and what's great about linda.com courses is that while they're not
35:25 necessarily going to be like the way to
35:28 master cinematography what they will do is they
35:32 will give you the fundamentals to be
35:35 selftaught in the future so you can learn a lot of tips and tricks that if
35:40 you have if you've taken classes or if you've taught yourself a lot of things
35:44 they'll they'll they'll give you that that broad Foundation that will fill in
35:49 the gaps that you missed and help you to continue your journey plan started only
35:54 $25 a month and you can get a 10day free trial which gives access to every course
35:58 on linda.com by heading over to linda.com wow which I pointed down below
36:04 which will have Linked In the video description which would be true on the
36:08 uh the VOD but in the meantime I guess I could just post it in the twitch chat
36:12 here what are you doing here oh oh yeah
36:16 right oh good work see this is what this
36:20 for those of you wondering why Dennis is joining me on the show today right there
36:25 right there guys and also for his gorgeous smooth face Dollar Shave Club
36:31 wait what did I click the did wait
36:34 what dang it Nick all right well we'll
36:38 do Squarespace first so Squarespace the
36:42 way to build your simple powerful beautiful website using oh you know what
36:46 Dennis I want you to do it you should if you are looking for if you're looking
36:50 for a good tool they have million
36:54 templates no no they have they okay they don't have a million
36:58 couple they have a lot of templates yes
37:01 and you can build your web page profile
37:05 or for commercial or for your um
37:09 portfolio or whatever you it's easy to
37:13 build make it beautiful
37:16 and what's what's good
37:19 um it it it looks good even we use the
37:23 we use Squarespace for our Forum no no
37:26 no not for our forum no no okay that's the other one no we use it for Linus
37:30 Medi group.com squ Squarespace doesn't have for functionality that's my fa
37:35 um.com um so it's really easy to use even I can
37:41 use it really have you updated things on the Squarespace site no you just always
37:46 hear me say that yeah I saw your ly but yes yes you could use it so it looks
37:52 really easy yeah all of squarespace's tools are web based so all you got to do
37:55 is go in it's very visual you don't have to be a programmer although there are
37:59 more tweaks you can make if you do have some coding experience and you just go
38:02 in you make your edits you click save and Bippity Bop the whole thing is
38:05 handled by them the page is hosted by them and if you sign up for a year they
38:09 will even throw in a free domain so for plan starting at only $8 a month you get
38:15 all that stuff taken care of so you can focus on just building a beautiful
38:18 website rather than focusing on like figuring out how to get that freaking
38:23 image to write a line just can't do it
38:28 which can be very frustrating so there you go guys Squarespace you should build
38:33 it simple powerful beautiful I think I'm just going to start stringing together
38:37 every slogan they've ever done at a certain point uh until we until we have
38:41 literally all of them it'll be like like poke Pokemon style all right so I'm
38:46 going to go ahead and drop my uh seriously seriously is that is that not
38:50 going to work is that is that not going to work for me you've got to be freaking
38:54 kidding me all right I will find this I am
39:01 freaking out here come on come on no not
39:05 that one well okay fine there you
39:08 go Dollar Shave Club all right Dennis
39:12 you're up tell me about Dollar Shave Club so you can order all the not just
39:19 your um what's that razor and some
39:23 bathroom supply deliver to your house
39:26 your every month and can I help you I got they have
39:32 they have sure Char Charlie what's that
39:36 Charlie one white Charlie thanks Nick they
39:40 have Shi moist and cream what did you just say
39:44 shave moisture thing ah yes y shaving
39:47 cream they don't have some nonsense razor y it's all six blade yep and easy
39:55 to use deliver to your house so easy Dennis can use it yeah I don't have beer
40:00 at all okay so so Dollar Shave Club uh
40:04 whether you want highquality razors and other bathroom supplies like their butt
40:08 wipes or their aftershave or their Dr
40:11 Carver shave butter which is not technically a shaving cream cuz there
40:15 they have travel size too and they have travel sizes thank you Dennis if you're
40:18 in the US Canada and Australia for just a few bucks a month without having to go
40:22 out to the store and spend way too much on replacement blades you guys can join
40:26 the club save money save time and head
40:30 over to dollarshaveclub.com Linus to start doing
40:34 it I like they I like people send stuff to my house and cuz when you receive the
40:38 package it's like someone send you gift but it's actually you send
40:42 yourself that's an hour happiness you can buy
40:49 from that that is a good point um thank
40:53 you thank you thank you Dennis okay so moving into our next
40:57 uh next actual topic um if you have work
41:01 to do you can you can leave I I actually only meant to drag you here for a few
41:04 minutes okay sorry sorry Dennis I know you're trying to edit as fast as
41:08 possible right now thank you for joining me yeah thank thanks Dennis Stay Stay
41:13 Stay Stay no they stay yeah they they'll
41:16 stay don't worry it's okay um so this is
41:20 posted by no nerg whatever that is on
41:24 the Forum I'm gonna go ahead and drop the link here in the twitch chat
41:28 um boom there you go John McAfee
41:31 according to the RS Technica headline better prepare to eat a shoe because he
41:37 doesn't know how iPhones work okay so we're going to fire up this
41:43 video um at risk of at risk of me
41:46 getting like a like a an infringement strike here from uh who is this I don't
41:53 know some some United States can I just
41:57 see this on YouTube please thank you all right so um so some some news network I
42:01 don't know I'm not American um so basically to be clear he did say and
42:07 it's the it's the top comment on the video I hope everyone knows that the
42:11 Apple explanation was vastly dumbed down for the Press I know the A7 system chip
42:16 well including it secure Enclave with separate co-processor that stores the
42:20 encrypted fingerprint the feral key generated by the co-processor that Apple
42:23 doesn't even know the secure Enclave memory isolated from the rest of the processes on the Etc doesn't matter the
42:29 main ARM processor has its own memory and that's what I'm interested
42:32 in etc etc etc um however ours put together a very
42:40 strong because I was kind of looking at it going like the way he was explaining
42:44 this it was like it was like a four-year-old could break into an iPhone
42:49 so like he says okay so this is a summary from John McAfee you only need
42:54 two people a hardware and a software engineer okay well that sets the bar
43:00 somewhat somewhat High the hardware engineer takes the phone apart that
43:03 doesn't even sound like a hardware engineering task to be perfectly honest
43:07 I mean I can think of there's probably a thousand people on YouTube alone who
43:10 could take apart an iPhone with their eyes closed copies the instruction
43:15 set which I I it sounds like um he sort
43:20 of loosely using the term instruction
43:23 set to mean which which is is actually a
43:28 way that that that a processor takes software uh takes what software tells it
43:33 and turns that into something that that transistors can understand like it it
43:37 translates it into like like machine code um so so that's that's an
43:40 instruction set so so you actually wouldn't you wouldn't even want the
43:44 instruction set um so I think what he
43:48 sort of means is is like the the the the software like the actual operating
43:52 system or something not sure then you run a disassembler which takes the ones
43:57 and zeros and gives you readable information okay then the coder sits
44:02 down reads and finds the first access to the keypad reads the instructions for
44:06 where In memory the secret code is stored and he says it'll take half an
44:10 hour however our Technica summary which my
44:15 understanding of it is and I am not a software engineer I want that to be very
44:19 clear I am neither a software engineer nor a hardware engineer but from my
44:24 understanding of the way that Apple's encryption works
44:28 apple is being honest and being very
44:32 upfront about the fact that even day
44:35 cannot break into an iPhone unless they
44:40 were to push a software update so they were to install a new version of iOS
44:45 onto the phone that defeated the
44:48 safeguards that they have put into place to prevent even Apple from breaking the
44:53 encryption so to imagine for a second
44:56 that apple apple is storing plain text
44:59 versions of the entries of a passcode
45:03 which by the way the passcode itself is not what unlocks an iPhone it actually
45:07 generates a key that unlocks the iPhone
45:11 so for for to imagine that apple is storing this in PL Tex somewhere is
45:18 just is just baffling baffling to me
45:22 that um that he would think that it's
45:25 that simple
45:28 and I mean so so here ours ours explains it better than I possibly could because
45:33 they're really smart over there and I'm only a little bit smart so the pin is
45:37 not stored on the flash storage at all because there's no need if the wrong PIN is entered the encryption key that's
45:41 gets generated by combining the pin with the hardware ID won't work there that's in a sentence a way better explanation
45:46 than I could have possibly given you guys it will not unlock any encrypted
45:49 files so that's how the iPhone can verify if the pin is correct or not it
45:55 verifies simp on the basis of did it work in the key
46:00 or not it doesn't actually know what the
46:03 or did it work in the lock or not it doesn't actually know what the right key
46:07 is for the lock it's basically like like the way that it works is as if people
46:13 just walk up and try any key in a lock and the only way the lock even knows
46:17 what its own what its own what its own Tumblr setup was was whether the key
46:23 works or not that's the only way it could have possibly known so to imagine
46:28 that it is easy to pull that information
46:32 out of an iPhone is is asinine as far as
46:36 my understanding and the RS author's understanding goes which isn't to say
46:40 that it's impossible if they were to
46:43 actually disassemble the the chip itself
46:47 so they would actually have to inspect the handset's processor so this is back
46:51 to the article again which I believe I Linked In twitch chat but just in case I will do it again because really good
46:55 read uh you guys should definitely be checking this
46:58 out if they inspect the handset's processor using acid and lasers it is
47:04 possible that they could get the device's unique Hardware ID and then
47:08 with that ID they could combine it with each pin every pin in turn until they
47:13 hit upon the exact right one although the cost and complexity of the technique
47:17 would be extremely high and the risk of destroying the device permanently making
47:22 it completely unrecoverable would also be very high
47:27 so I don't know if he's actually
47:31 planning to eat a shoe I don't know if he actually thinks he could open it in a
47:35 couple weeks because if he could like it's pretty easy to do that demo with
47:39 some other iPhone just be like hey just to prove that I really can here we go we
47:43 did it um or if he's just in his own
47:49 eccentric way trying
47:52 to just just undermine the FBI's efforts to
47:58 get apple to agree to build in a back door if he is like I can't I can't
48:05 believe that I like he's kind of a he's
48:08 kind of an eccentric character but I haven't seen anything about him to make
48:13 me believe that he's stupid so
48:18 um maybe he's just playing a game that
48:22 most of us have not picked up on here I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt where he's just trying to to put
48:28 up barricades for the FBI for the
48:31 government's requests to have apple build in this
48:37 functionality I'd like to believe that's what's going on here but I'm I'm
48:42 definitely not sure um so there there
48:47 you have it
48:50 um yeah so I'm actually going to take a
48:55 break from our regularly scheduled land show programming to bring you guys my
48:59 live yes my friends live Voyage of
49:03 Discovery here with this gtx980 TI I'm actually not out of topics I actually
49:07 have a fair number of them remaining but I really want to do this I'm I'm
49:11 actually like kind of amped on it and so uh I I want to bring you guys along for
49:15 the ride because I have to go home after work today I'm not going to have a
49:18 chance to uh to stick around and try this oh oh that that's not what I meant
49:22 to do sorry I was just trying to uh see if I can get the color right oh wow
49:27 that's weird okay so my hands are now pink which they're not but that card
49:31 looks a lot closer to what it looks like in real life so I think uh I think we've
49:35 got our our color good enough here so what I will be trying to do is like an
49:39 epoxy okay the table's not dirty it's actually um it was painted it is chipped
49:44 paint the the table is actually not dirty see look I'll I'll look my finger
49:48 that tastes fine um so what I'm going to be trying to do
49:53 is use nail polish to be like a poor
49:57 man's epoxy resin fill technique I don't
50:01 know how to open these um for coloring a
50:06 recessed a recessed logo or emblem or something along those lines so my wife
50:11 went to the pharmacy and uh obtained
50:14 these uh needle syringes for me so I was
50:18 hoping to use this as an applicator I'm actually thinking I might try to suck up
50:24 the nail polish without the needle tip because I don't want to get nail polish
50:28 all over it I'm going to have to be very careful about the way that I apply it um
50:33 because a lot of people had critiqued this already um even though I haven't
50:37 even released the video about it this painted gtx980ti saying that it would really be
50:42 a lot better if I took the extra step
50:46 to uh to color the gtx980 ti text so oh
50:52 hold on all right now you'll have to pardon me I've never done this before
50:56 I've I've never put nail polish into uh into a
51:01 syringe okay I realize I'm not actually
51:04 showing you guys what's going on
51:08 here uh okay that is super duper not
51:12 working very well okay okay that's fine not an obstacle got everyone being all
51:17 like shooting nail polish that is not what happens on this show not what
51:22 happens on this show oh wow wow that is
51:28 uh that is some slow
51:32 slow slow suction that we got going on here
51:38 hopefully you guys can see I am managing to draw up some nail polish though so
51:44 that that bodess well for our chances of success here if we can at least get the
51:47 nail polish into the syringe boy is that ever slow though
51:52 holy crap we've got a near vacuum in the thing at this point
51:57 okay okay that's fine that's fine I can make do with this
52:01 okay so there are professional ways to do this but as you guys know I tend to
52:07 uh shy away from those for reasons that are really not very clear to anyone so
52:11 let's start on the let's start on the easiest the easiest thing
52:15 here um let's start with let's start with the T that seems like the least
52:20 complex the least complex of the letters
52:23 got everyone asking me why I don't put it in the oven I think you all know the answer to
52:29 that okay oh wow okay so here I learned
52:34 something new about uh needles today the hole is not actually right in the
52:40 end H okay so that that just put a bead that
52:46 is not spreading out at all into the T
52:49 which is fine I can work with this we're going to try and uh going to try and
52:53 spread it out I sure hope I haven't like
52:57 permanently wrecked this
53:03 thing
53:07 okay wow this is stressful I mean there's a lot of stuff
53:12 that I do that's like kind of stressful but I mean for
53:17 me the cost of a component is less of a
53:22 factor because you know for us the components
53:27 are just sort of cost to doing business
53:30 um we we need them we can't make videos about this stuff unless we have them so
53:35 ruing a component is is really really
53:39 crappy and I and I hate doing it but ruining a bunch of time that I've
53:44 already invested in a video is is much more
53:48 harmful um so I'm really hoping not to destroy
53:53 this video card that I have already done uh most of the work for oh sorry I
53:58 realized I moved that away from you so what I'm kind of hoping for is that I
54:02 can use some kind of a of like a a cloth
54:08 or something oh oh oh oh it's coming out
54:12 really fast okay don't come out so fast
54:16 you
54:21 okay wow this is some this is some
54:24 touchy touchy work here so so what I'm hoping is I can use some kind of a wipe
54:28 over the top of it
54:32 to you know if it came out the end of the needle I would be in much better
54:37 shape right now um to get the excess off around the
54:42 edges and hopefully get a nice clean line that is what I am sincerely
54:50 hoping okay
54:53 so the G the T and the
54:57 x or the G the T and the X the T only
55:00 the t is sort of done but it looks a little
55:05 overfilled so I am at a bit of a loss
55:09 for how to fix that right now
55:13 because I don't think I even have any nail polish
55:17 remover well there you have it guys I
55:21 got sad on Wow today okay you know what
55:25 here I I actually have an idea I have an idea people are like can we talk news is
55:29 wow there's only a 60% chance we're even going to talk about news on low you guys
55:34 knew that coming into this you knew what this
55:39 was um okay you know what no I want like uh
55:45 okay what if I use I need uh what do I need I need
55:50 something I need like a flat Edge I need a flat Edge oh people are suggesting to
55:55 suck up the excess with the needle there's not that much excess though I
55:59 might not have fine enough control okay I'm going to try this I'm going to
56:03 try scraping the extra
56:07 off actually that could work that could
56:11 work I might need to take another couple runs at this here but as long as I can
56:17 sufficiently clean
56:22 off oh oh oh oh we're in trouble now
56:27 we're in trouble now uhoh uhoh okay um
56:32 uhoh now I'm in trouble time to uh time to bring in the
56:37 Cavalry Cavalry here
56:41 um uh I might need our resident nail
56:45 polish expert can you just clean it with
56:48 saliva oh the answer is no I don't know what oh oh oh I got a bunch on the top
56:53 cuz there's nail polish on my fingers uh uhoh oh well I sure hope I didn't
56:59 completely ruin it we shall find out very very
57:04 soon Cavalry is coming
57:09 yvon um I may have ruined my painted
57:13 video card by spreading the nail polish
57:16 out a bunch and and and ruining it um do you know how to get that
57:21 off yep yep I'm live so um and I and I
57:25 got some there too the back do you know how to do you know how to remove that
57:28 yeah you need CL remover uh I was even
57:32 going to buy some cuz I was like I know you're going to screw this up and then I
57:37 didn't because I was like you're using a syringe it'll be okay in my defense
57:41 these syringes are not quite what I was expecting uh apparently isopropyl will
57:45 work uh I don't think so but I will I actually also don't think so you need
57:50 acetone same thing yeah well um yep so there you go I will
57:58 do a news topic now thank you for thank you for coming along with me for that
58:02 wild ride oh this is sort of this is sort of
58:06 a big deal I mean it's only it's only sort of tech related but I guarantee you
58:12 that this will is it coming off actually yeah cuz it's not dry yet oh really oh
58:16 can I see oh why because I I want to see
58:19 if it could maybe be removed a little bit yeah I'm oh well yeah you just rub
58:24 harder and then it comes off more oh really well cuz it's not dry yet it's
58:27 not cured yet oh can I okay can I can I can I can I can I have that whoever said
58:31 that I'm sorry you were right okay good job with the isopropyl uh normally I
58:36 think once it cures it doesn't work though I mean have you ever tried to use
58:41 alcohol on your fingers yeah I have um but I think it could be because of the
58:44 paint finish too like maybe that's why maybe it makes
58:48 it easier to to same I think you should
58:52 let me do that I think you're ruining it I look you're taking the paint off or
58:57 what is that I don't think so no I think that's just um I think that's just nail
59:01 polish junk cuz if there's a way to if there's
59:05 a way to fill it
59:08 without oh yeah it's no it's okay that's the problem the alcohol is not taking it
59:13 off fully it's just kind of spreading it
59:16 around well that's why you should have let me do it cuz I was doing fine okay
59:20 go away
59:28 we also have that Goof Off stuff that may work but will that take your paint
59:31 off I'm not sure we're better off taking the paint off than having that stuck on
59:35 though just ring that out
59:38 there all right thank you um I don't
59:43 know if I posted this in the twitch chat yet so I'm going to go ahead and post it
59:48 here but uh yeah Dow chemicals and
59:52 Dupont are merging this is only peripherally related to Tech um because
59:58 like for example Corning uh falls under falls under this merger um they make a
60:03 an awful lot of glass that goes on Tak it's taking the paint off yeah that's
60:07 why it's sticky see it's orange oh no
60:11 that means it's all the way through the clear coat I think that's
60:16 why oh that's
60:20 terrible um I don't know it might be in the cleaning supplies um under the sink
60:26 in the kitchen oh if I have to repaint that
60:30 that's like actually kind of a disaster I don't even know if I have enough
60:33 primer
60:37 left I always push the
60:40 limits all always push the
60:43 limits so the deal is valued at
60:46 130 billion making it the 18th largest
60:49 corporate deal ever this company looks to challenge uh monsanto's seed
60:55 dominance so it'll create three separate entities in India with agriculture
60:59 products Material Science and specialy products as main businesses so dupon and
61:04 dowo chemicals have long been criticized for their track records regarding
61:08 environmental stewardship uh Dupont refused to take responsibility for toxic
61:13 pollutants spilled into the Ohio River the company has also received scrutiny
61:17 for its release of per floro Octan ploro octanoic acid uh which is
61:23 used to make non-stick products like Teflon and da was responsible for
61:28 producing Napalm used by the US military to devastate populations in Vietnam um
61:33 it subsidary Union Carbide was responsible for the deaths of thousands
61:37 in Bal India in 1984 following a massive leak of a chemical used to make
61:41 pesticide and DOW continues to refuse to clean the site or fund medical
61:45 initiatives to address the Bill's ongoing aftermath say critics of the
61:50 companies um so this is bound basically to affect pretty much uh everyone like
61:56 if you buy if you go into a grocery store or like a store and buy pretty
62:02 much anything I can guarantee you that you are buying something that lines the
62:07 pockets of DuPont or Dow chemicals um so
62:12 3M for example is owned by Dupont and will now be owned by this by this merged
62:17 company um in other news the uh Dow CEO
62:21 Andrew Lis gets nearly $53 million in a
62:26 golden parachute deal after the dupon merger um so that's 53 million in
62:30 Severance compensation um according to the Securities and Exchange Commission
62:35 filing so I think between the two of them it was something to the tune of
62:39 like 80 or hundred million and and a golden parachute is effectively an
62:44 executive um an executive like you know
62:49 Assurance package so that if the company were to ever merge or get bought out for
62:54 example uh they would would and then they were to lose their job as a result
62:58 they would definitely still be financially secure and um yeah my $53
63:03 million I I would I would consider that financially
63:07 secure uh in other news this was originally posted on the Forum by oh
63:11 that last one was posted on the Forum by oh no one okay so this one was
63:15 originally posted on the Forum by implosive Tech let's go ahead and Link
63:18 you guys to the original article here
63:22 Apple patents magnetically detachable wireless earbuds for the iPhone so is it
63:28 true that the iPhone 7 will have no 3
63:33 and a half millimeter Jack
63:36 possibly possibly and again possibly not so uh
63:42 Yep this would be a hybrid headphone design that is capable of both corded
63:48 and wireless operation so I I love I love the
63:54 illustrations in like applications it's like it's like they're determined to
63:59 make people look as weird and creepy as possible like who who has eyes like that
64:05 and it's like she's it's like she's so smug it's like she's like a it's like
64:10 she's an Apple user oh I guess that's why no no I'm
64:14 just kidding the smug look on her face could be for any reason so actually
64:17 there's better there's better drawings right here so it would allow um here you
64:22 go so it would have a magnetically detachable point right oh sorry I had
64:25 the the wrong Mouse here right around here and then you could well attach or
64:30 detach it and then power would come in here and you know stuff is very
64:35 fascinating um good for them I
64:39 guess yeah relies on two cables one connecting the stereo headphones
64:43 together to form a listening subsystem and then one tethering that subsystem to the host device and it would be for blah
64:49 blah blah so you could connect the listening device to the host cord for
64:53 battery recharging and for Wired audio signal transmission
64:56 uh direct X2 explicit multi-GPU mode
64:59 bringing radon and gForce together know we talked about that last week dang it Colton hi can I help you yeah you is it
65:05 completely ruined can I see yeah oh that
65:09 sucks yep so there you go my wonderful paint
65:15 job that I was super proud of is completely ruined and I will need to
65:20 completely sand this back down to metal
65:24 um reime it repaint it Rec clear coat it
65:27 and reassemble the card the good news there is some good news here is that
65:32 this piece is if I recall correctly the
65:36 easiest one to remove so I will not need
65:39 to fully disassemble the card that is a very very small Silver
65:45 Lining um but I will not be reattempting
65:48 my Cheapo um epoxy resin fill attempt
65:52 it's already ruined can I try since it's ruined yes you can try but really don't
65:56 think it's going to be worth the risk of trying it once it's painted again and you can't do it until after I paint it
66:00 again so um it was a good idea in theory
66:04 I think it could actually still work but I believe what you would have to do is
66:07 dilute the nail polish cu the problem I was having was that it wasn't spreading
66:12 so it couldn't overcome the surface tension that was making it bead I had to
66:16 try to spread it out by hand and of course when you try and spread it out by hand you might as well paint it by
66:23 hand in other news happy goggles here's
66:27 how to upd the world's most there we go a virtual reality headset made from a
66:32 Happy Meal box and this is on uh this is
66:36 actually pretty cool so they show you the whole
66:39 instructions for how to basically Google cardboard it up with your with your
66:44 Happy Meal box you get to wear that smile on your
66:47 face too so you look like a real winner love it very
66:53 cool that's pretty much all that I have to say about that it's pretty uh pretty
66:58 self pretty self-explanatory um it's a limited
67:01 edition Happy Meal box that can fold into VR goggles special boxes are being
67:06 issued to Mark the 30th anniversary of the Happy Meal in Sweden and only select
67:11 McDonald's restaurants in Sweden will be selling the boxes for now to accompany
67:15 the goggles McDonald's is including a special VR game called slope Stars which
67:20 will be available to download off McDonald's Sweden's website starting on
67:23 March the 4th it's it's essentially uh ski free no I'm just kidding it has
67:27 nothing to do with ski free although if you guys get the reference then one internet point for you uh the company
67:32 says the game will offer the player 36 a 360° ski experience and teach them how
67:37 to stay safe on the slopes uh the reaction to the goggles on McDonald's
67:42 Facebook page was mixed which to me is kind of bizarre like what's to not like
67:46 about it it's it's it's it's at least repurposing a box as opposed to
67:52 um you know just throwing it away like why not
67:57 Quantum breaks cutcenes this was originally posted by Sam fiser on the
68:00 Forum will require the liveaction
68:04 cutcenes will require an internet
68:08 connection that is some you know what I I think this was actually added after I
68:12 started the show here so I don't I have not I have not reviewed this I did not
68:16 know that this was posted a few days ago though will require an internet
68:19 connection so wow that is that is really
68:23 that is a really weird thing so it's a Time War shooter that employs a Blanda
68:26 video game cut scenes and a liveaction TV show attempting to tell a story in a
68:31 new cross media way okay very cool so the liveaction cutcenes will not be on
68:36 the disc but will actually be streamed to your PC the developer says that there
68:40 wouldn't have been enough room to get it all on dis because there's actually 40
68:44 different variations of the show Xbox One players will have the option of
68:48 downloading episodes but PC players will not the game is set to release April 5th
68:54 so I kind of get it okay there's no room on the disc so we have to have it streamed but well hold on a second if
68:59 you can stream it to me then you can give it to me as a download and if
69:03 you're going to give it to Xbox players then why aren't you going to give it to PC players that is a whole lot of
69:08 nonsense that really doesn't make any sense to me at all I mean
69:14 to yeah I yeah that's very frustrating
69:20 well I I wish that hadn't been added to the dock now because now now I'm just
69:24 upset uh
69:27 um this is cool so this was originally posted on the Forum by cloaked and the
69:31 original article here is from RS Technica with the next update on the
69:36 PlayStation 4 you will be able to stream games to your PC or to your Mac oops
69:42 sorry it's hard when I'm running this whole thing myself there's like a
69:45 touchpad and there's two mice in front of me um it's a feature
69:51 that to my knowledge I I've actually yet
69:54 to encounter someone who extensively uses steam in home streaming like I kind
69:58 of get it on the handheld side whether it's a PSVita um or whether it's
70:03 something like an NVIDIA Shield which didn't take off I mean they never even
70:06 refreshed it we never even got a new Shield portable that should tell you
70:10 that should give you some idea how popular the feature was um the whole
70:13 streaming from your gaming system to another device thing really hasn't taken
70:17 off yet um so I don't know how many people are really going to leverage this
70:22 but it's cool to see more options being
70:25 offered um I'm very interested to see how they handle PC inputs so things like
70:32 um can you actually play the game with the keyboard and mouse will PlayStation
70:35 game developers be expected to add that kind of a support or will you basically
70:39 be expected to just play PlayStation 4
70:43 with a PS4 controller on a screen that's connected to your PC not 100% sure
70:51 um y yeah oh I am so I am so sad I am so
70:59 sad right now that that graphics card is
71:04 broken now I'm just now I just can't now I just can't
71:08 focus um All Right Far Cry Primal map
71:12 this was originally posted by Trick star on The Forum original article here is
71:16 from gamer pressure.com and Ubisoft
71:20 recycled Far Cry 4's map in Far Cry Primal apparently so if you have a look
71:24 here the similarities are actually are
71:28 actually pretty striking um I guess that's pretty much
71:33 all there is to say about that so thank you guys very much for tuning in to the
71:37 WAN Show thank you to our very special guest Dennis for joining us today and we
71:42 will see you again next week same bat Time same bat Channel Luke should be
71:47 back next week I believe so uh expect a more normal W show thanks again for
71:52 watching and I'll see you guys next time
72:21 sorry guys no after party I've got some work to do been really bus lately
