0:08 this is the Kronos Deluxe SSD from
0:11 mushkin it is a SATA 3 2 and 1/2 in SSD
0:14 and it comes in a box that's so big that it could be a 3 and 1/2 in SSD cuz
0:19 remember the bigger the box it comes in the more performance it has right guys
0:23 all right the Kronos SSD series is a Great Leap Forward using the SATA 3
0:27 protocol to provide 6 gbit per second super high for data coupled with the
0:31 solid state drives Kronos ssds will redefine the word fast yes I know I
0:34 skipped every other line but you guys pretty much know what they were going to
0:37 say anyway this one in particular is the 120 gig Drive although it is available
0:41 in other capacities including a 240 gig
0:44 drive and what is special about this
0:47 particular Drive well I would love to tell you that but why don't we start with the unboxing portion first so we
0:53 have a 2 and A2 to 3 and 1/2 in adapter and I've seen this particular adapter a
0:57 number of times with a number of different logos on it pretty standard
1:01 adapter you got your screw holes your other more different screw holes and
1:04 then you plug it into the thing all right we've got the SSD itself we've got
1:09 some mounting hardware so you got a couple screws that'll screw into the
1:13 adapter and then you've got a whole lot of foam so mushkin is not taking any
1:18 chances they're they're making it so you could you could put your SSD in here you
1:22 could wrap it up in here and you could like throw it at the wall and you could
1:26 you could be like the worst the worst Courier in the world then you could kind
1:30 of go like this and try to play you know hacky sack with the SSD and you're going
1:35 to pull it out of this box and there's going to be no damage to your safe SSD
1:39 with an inch of foam on every side whatsoever all right so let's pull out
1:45 the SSD itself and let's talk specs for a little bit here so this is a San Force
1:50 2281 Drive which is pretty much the same
1:54 controller that is being used in any sandforce SATA 3 SSD at this time but
1:59 there is is a difference in terms of the quality of the Nan chips that are used
2:03 from one drive to another not to say that some are more reliable than others
2:07 but in terms of the speed especially with random reads and writes you do get
2:11 better performance out of the deluxe Drive which uses toggle nand versus the
2:15 regular Kronos which does not so here we
2:19 go you can see the SSD itself is uh
2:22 labeled www.king.com Kronos SATA 3 Sal
2:27 state drive on the other side we find some more information such as oh look at
2:31 that they give you a firmware revision right on the right on the drive itself
2:34 most guys don't call out which firmware revision they're using but uh looks like
2:38 they do so this is a 120 gig SATA 6 gbit
2:41 per second as I mentioned it's available in other capacities you're going to find
2:45 a very standard interface on the back here there's your SATA 3 data there's
2:48 your SATA power you're going to have all your standard mounting holes so a lot of
2:52 people have asked me to do roundups of SATA 3 drives and I will tell you guys
2:57 it's kind of unnecessary because I can pretty much tell you what everything is
3:00 so the Kronos Deluxe I'll tell you guys what it is equivalent to it's equivalent
3:05 to the Max iops from ocz and it is equivalent to the Wildfire from Patriot
3:09 in terms of performance yes it will perform identically to either of those
3:13 drives so if you see a Kronos that's a good deal then go ahead and snap it up
3:18 you'll know what to compare it to in terms of pricing thank you for checking
