0:00 today i'll be unboxing a product that i had to buy i've needed a printer for a
0:05 while i don't live at home anymore so i can't use my parents printer and
0:10 i can only print out so much stuff at work before i get in trouble so i needed
0:14 just like a value printer i don't believe in inkjet
0:18 to be honest unless you must print out photos at home i can't think of a good
0:22 reason to buy an inkjet printer the nozzles dry up if you don't use them in
0:27 you know a couple months and then you go and replace them i mean you can refill
0:30 them but that's a pain so i got myself a cheap color laser
0:34 printer this color laser printer is under 200 it's a samsung clp 310n it is
0:41 network ready so that means that you don't actually have to plug it directly
0:44 into a computer you can just plug it into your uh into your switch or your
0:48 router okay i actually don't know much about it
0:53 beyond the fact that it is a cheap color laser printer so what i
0:58 can probably do once i get it set up is share with you the results
1:03 um in terms of printing i mean i guess we
1:08 can look at the specs although i'm not a printer expert so it
1:12 does up to 2400 dpi that's dots per inch
1:15 it is ultra compact and it operates quietly all of these are very good
1:20 things for home use that side is not in
1:23 english this side appears to be in english okay so it's high speed
1:29 no it uses high speed usb 2.0 rather it's not high speed at all it does up to
1:34 17 pages per minute in black four pages per minute in color that's letter size
1:39 and wow that's all it really says okay well
1:43 since we're not really going to get any more information about this printer from
1:46 the box why don't we open it up the reason i
1:50 like lasers because compared to ink toner is
1:54 well similar in price and compared to ink toner lasts a lot
1:59 longer so yeah you're not going to get this printer for free with your you know
2:04 digital camera that you buy or whatever you do actually have to pay for a
2:08 printer but the usable lifespan of it will be
2:11 much much longer because you'll probably
2:15 get through years with maybe one or two toner refills
2:19 assuming you don't do a ton of printing at home all right included cables we
2:23 have i'm just going to sort of do this
2:26 because it's easier one power cable so that's your standard
2:31 computer power cable
2:34 okay that was it and then we have a little um thing in french
2:39 it actually has no english on it okay so something about registering your
2:43 products i can read french okay uh then we have a quick start guide
2:47 that'll be useful because i will want to get started quickly
2:51 and i have a box open so naturally there are
2:54 um investigators who would like to see what's in the box
2:58 okay stop before returning this product to the store please contact support okay
3:02 you know what other documentation there is a disc with the driver on it don't
3:07 install that download the latest from the samsung website
3:10 here is a random piece of foam
3:13 okay so let's go ahead and flip this right over
3:18 and have a look at the printer itself
3:24 you know what's a rating i'd like to see on the outside of printer boxes
3:28 how many pages per um card uh toner cartridge
3:34 i think that would be a good thing to know because i would actually buy like
3:38 a different printer i buy one printer over another one based on more
3:43 more pages with one cartridge of toner that would be useful
3:49 so this printer actually uses four separate cards cartridges it uses one
3:54 for black one for yellow one for blue and one for
3:57 pink i think it's magenta cyan and
4:02 something else it fails me like i said i'm more of a
4:06 motherboard and RAM and CPU expert than
4:10 a printer expert i just kind of press
4:13 the button and i hope that something comes out of it that's the extent of what i know
4:18 uh the reason i went with a samsung printer i don't know if i mentioned this
4:21 already but this is something that i did have to buy so uh many of my unboxings
4:26 are not products that i paid my own hard-earned dollars for but
4:30 this is one of them is because i do use a samsung black and white one at work i
4:34 think it's an ml1610 it's been incredibly reliable i've done a
4:37 ridiculous amount of printing on it and i've never actually replaced the
4:41 cartridge so in here we find i guess if you need to
4:46 unjam something you would lift this up
4:50 okay so that's where the paper comes out presumably there you have a little flap
4:54 so the paper can come out on there
4:58 in here we will find all of our toner cartridges
5:02 so you can see that the black one is clearly larger than the colored ones
5:06 because they're going to assume that you do a lot more black printing than color
5:10 printing they have a little instructional thing on how to replace
5:13 your cartridges right here and uh let's see if we can figure it out
5:18 really quick okay so you pull on it
5:22 oh that was easy okay so there's the black toner cartridge remember that when
5:26 you buy a laser printer or an inkjet printer
5:29 they usually come with starter cartridges so um
5:34 yeah they're usually not actually fall
5:38 oh what's this oh weird so this has like some yellow gunk in it
5:44 i have no idea what that's for so i'm gonna actually have to read the
5:48 user manual if you can tell me what this is for then please do anyway i'm gonna go ahead
5:52 and put my toner card back in all right let's see if we can find some
5:56 other features of this here network printer so this
6:00 appears to be the paper loading tray there we go
6:05 so we load in our a4 letter paper it looks like it takes a variety of
6:09 different sizes depending how you want to adjust it and then you just go ahead
6:13 fold it over and
6:17 chuck that in there hopefully it goes in a little bit more
6:21 easily than it seems like yeah there we go all right
6:27 and wow what is this i don't know
6:32 okay well here's more access to the inside of guts of the printer
6:37 just in case you need it here's our interfaces so there's your power button
6:41 power input uh 100 Ethernet like you
6:44 need gigabit on a printer and then you've got a usb b connector for data if
6:49 you do want to hook it up directly to your computer
6:53 here you have that button that's basically the something went wrong but i
6:57 fixed it button so if you run out of paper it'll probably flash some kind of
7:01 light you put in more paper press the button and it should resume printing if
7:04 it works like my printer at work does it says oh here it has a lift handle
7:09 because it is quite heavy so if you are going to lift this printer you should
7:13 lift it by the lift handle so i'm going to go install it now thank you for watching my unboxing of the clp
7:19 310 color 310n rather color laser
7:22 printer from samsung
