0:00 now I know it's been a while but I did promise you guys some follow-up videos
0:03 about the GX 660r from MSI so this is my
0:07 first series of follow-up videos and I'm
0:10 just going to show you guys the touch sensitive buttons here at the top of the
0:15 laptop and what a couple of my favorite ones do I mean first of all there's the
0:20 one that I hate which is the wireless button which because it's only a visual
0:24 indicator a light whether it's on or off I turn off my wireless on a fairly
0:28 regular basis we got one of those for Bluetooth we got one of those for eco
0:31 mode as well so you can see that's going to change from eco mode to movie mode to
0:37 gaming mode to presentation mode to office mode to Turbo battery mode and
0:43 off so that's a pretty neat little thing I actually don't know what this one does
0:46 what happens if I press that okay well I don't know what that one does yet uh
0:51 okay this one don't remember what that does either
0:54 these are my favorites though these are the ones I actually care about so check this out okay so our core speed is 931
0:59 GHz I'm going to turn on Prime 95 and
1:03 you're going to see the core speed is going to jump up to uh 1.86 2 gahz okay
1:09 now check this out check this out I'm going to press the turbo button bam
1:15 turbo on okay so first it went
1:19 down and now it goes up 1. n55 GHz so it
1:24 actually overclocked the bus speed not the multiplier so this is a OneTouch
1:29 overclocking button that actually doesn't affect Intel speed step it
1:32 doesn't affect turbo boost so here watch this if I take my Prime 95 and I stop it
1:40 and then I do for example a single threaded small fft single thread so if I
1:47 stress a single core you're going to see that my clock
1:51 speed is going to be bam 2652 GHz
1:55 whereas if I turn turbo off so I'm going to press the turbo button again and it's
1:59 going to go back back down until speed step is enabled
2:04 and wait is that the same no that's not
2:07 the same that's less excellent so that was what I was trying to demonstrate now
2:11 here's another cool feature this is the
2:15 OMG the laptop is noisy button
2:25 listen slowly ramps up but basically
2:29 this is like a turbo cooling mode for the laptop that allows you to if you're
2:34 if you know you're going to be doing something intensive you don't have uh
2:38 like a laptop cooling pad available you
2:41 want to make sure that everything's going to stay running nice and cool well
2:45 that's one way that you can make sure that it is going to be running as cool
2:50 as possible regardless of what you are doing with it if you're running a game
2:55 if you're running uh anything else doesn't really matter so here we got
2:58 Prime 95 on I'm going to open up my I actually don't
3:02 know if my copy of real temp is going to work on this CPU so I guess we'll find
3:09 out and it does so even running quad
3:15 instances of prime 95 on this quad core 8 thread processor we're not getting
3:19 above 70° which is pretty darn respectable for a notebook that is
3:28 overclocked cool beans thanks for checking out Linus techtips don't forget
3:32 to subscribe and that would make me happy
