today we'll be doing a quick unboxing of the third member of the GTX 400 series
0:06
family so up here on top for comparison we'll get more on this later is a GTX
0:10
480 but the one we're actually looking at today is the GTX 465 this is a PNY
0:16
accelerate XLR8 performance Edition card
0:20
it is okay they have a couple of extra things that are included with their
0:24
cards that aren't included with others you get two bonus movie downloads and
0:27
they have a few examples of what you can download uh Muppets space uh The Da
0:31
Vinci Code SWAT uh some movie I think it's about counting cards and Rudy so
0:36
you can get two bonus movie downloads and then you get a 3-month subscription
0:39
to uh Esa all right let's go around to
0:43
the back and we'll find the basic specs while I start to open the packaging so
0:48
it is SLI ready it has physics support it has 3D Vision support just like the
0:53
GTX 470 and the 480 the biggest
0:56
difference with the 465 is actually probably on the front
1:00
uh yes here only 1 gig of ddr5 RAM so
1:05
that means that compared to its bigger Brothers you're going to have a little
1:09
bit less RAM and you're also going to have a little bit less performance
1:13
because it does have fewer processing cores so we'll have a quick look at
1:17
what's included here we've got the quick start guide okay it's a pretty much a standard
1:22
quick start guide shows you how to install a video card then we have the
1:25
installation disc make sure you download the latest drivers off the NVIDIA
1:29
website they're latest beta is actually really good then you've got a dual Molex
1:33
to one PCIe 6X connector you have a mini
1:36
HDMI to HDMI adapter and then you have a
1:40
DVI to VGA adapter you so you can plug in pretty much every conceivable
1:44
connector here so the way it's packed is just in little Foams here and it's sort
1:49
of sturdy enough although it's not uh this was a a quick to Market card so you
1:54
don't expect full custom packaging for it and let's have a look so far it looks
2:00
just like a GTX uh 470 one big
2:04
difference that it uh that it doesn't have especially okay here why don't we
2:07
compare it to the 480 instead okay so the big first thing we notice compared
2:11
to the 480 is that it doesn't have the the heat sink surface on the actual
2:15
front of the card so it doesn't have these heat pipes that as you can see
2:20
come out of the top of the card leading to more ventilation space as well as
2:25
this heat sink surface here it does still use a fan blower design so you can
2:30
see the whole second slot is designed for air flow to be vented by this fan
2:34
out the front of the case and this fan is completely shrouded in so that it's
2:38
not going to exhaust any air back this way this takes all the warm air from
2:42
inside your case cools your card and then blows it out the back of the case
2:46
up on the top we find two six pin PCI Express power connectors as well as a 1
2:51
in shorter length compared to the six pin and eight pin on the 480 as well as
2:56
a 1in longer length the sticker is ALS
2:59
so rather shoddily applied on this one but I'm sure that's just a sample and
3:03
not representative of all of them the back of them both look the same okay and
3:09
then let's have a look so this is a standard PCIe 16x card you're going to
3:13
find your your standard 16x PCI Express
3:16
connector along the bottom that's uh fairly normal and one thing that you
3:21
will notice about the 465 um especially on these first cards
3:26
is that it actually has all of the memory chip spots 4 5 6 7 8 oh no maybe
3:31
hold on maybe it doesn't 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
3:37
you know what I can't tell how many that is it might have eight it might have 10
3:40
um it's probably using a GTX 470 PCB but
3:44
actually with two fer RAM chips soldered on because it was uh it was up to the
3:48
addin partners to design the boards for the 465 it uses a very similar design
3:53
where the fan has access both at the back and the front of the PCB to Fresh
3:58
Air you've got got two SLI connectors up on the top so if you're going to be
4:02
running SLI either two-way or three-way SLI or if you're going to be running 3D
4:07
Vision surround which you need to run SLI in order to use you're going to need
4:11
those moving around to the back of the card we've got two DVI ports and One
4:16
Mini HDMI although you can't run three
4:20
monitors off the card at the same time so that was pretty much all I wanted to
4:25
say about the PTX PTX PNY GTX X 465 1
4:31
gig graphics card
