0:06 today we are here in the lenovo suite where they are showing off their latest
0:11 thinkpad x1 carbon it's got some pretty
0:14 significant spec upgrades first and foremost of which is an 8th gen core
0:20 processor yes my friends we are talking quad core in a tiny lightweight laptop
0:26 like this it can be equipped with up to 16 gigs of RAM up to a one terabyte m.2
0:32 drive and it's got a ton of other great features built into it as well it's
0:36 available with Windows hello facial recognition as well as
0:41 you know fingerprint sensors for plebs it's got a shutter to hide the webcam
0:46 sort of maybe we'll get to that later it's available with up to a 500 peak
0:51 brightness 1440p display and there's another option with
0:55 touch and this premium display option
0:58 has a hundred percent adobe RGB coverage and it is factory calibrated they've
1:04 actually tuned the display for dolby vision and in terms of the performance
1:08 it is somewhere near the HDR 400 spec
1:12 which is kind of like it's like sort of related to HDR 10 but that would be like
1:16 a thousand so it's like HDR 1000 is a thousand nits peak brightness and then
1:20 there's like 600 and 400 the actual value of it is sort of debatable but
1:24 it'll understand an HDR signal let's put it that way it's got support for dolby
1:28 atmos and the keyboard is characteristic of lenovo pretty darn solid with
1:34 everything you could want in terms of inputs you got the nipple you got the
1:38 buttons and you've got the touchpad
1:41 i o is not disappointing actually
1:44 you can't say that about a lot of modern devices so we've got a three and a half
1:47 millimeter jack we've got a usb-a on that side we've got another usb-a we've
1:51 got an HDMI output we've got two
1:55 Thunderbolt ports with four PCIe lanes
1:58 each and an Ethernet jack but it's like this
2:02 weird proprietary form factor for it i had to ask i was like why do you need an
2:06 Ethernet jack why isn't it just a type c if it's got to plug into your dock which
2:10 has a bunch of other io on it and the answer was actually really smart it's so
2:14 that your Mac Address doesn't change that's great for corporate clients when
2:18 you plug into your dock and you want to access your vpn or whatever it's got
2:22 integrated 4g lte and uh
2:26 57 watt hour battery cortana support now
2:29 let's get into the things that i'm like super disappointed about
2:34 so the premium 1440p panel
2:37 not available with touch thank you panel makers
2:42 the ir camera is not compatible with the cover
2:47 and the ir camera version is not available with the premium panel
2:52 so it's like man it's like so close to being like
2:56 basically perfect maybe next year
3:00 maybe next year i feel like i say that a lot it's going to start at 1709. that is
3:04 that is a weird weird price point
3:07 but you know what's not at a weird price point lastpass lastpass is a great value
