0:00 well I'm at it again up to my old tricks I am unboxing an oem hard drive but I
0:05 have a good reason for it this time I promise you I do so I'm going to zoom in
0:09 and tell you a little bit about this particular Drive first of all it is a
0:14 Western Digital 1 tbte drive and you know I can I can see you right now
0:19 saying whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa back up we've seen this before but no this is
0:23 something new okay so I'm going to zoom back in give you a closer look okay so
0:26 this is part of their black series and I okay seen this before but the special
0:31 thing about this particular Drive is that it is SATA 3 or SATA 6 gabit per
0:37 second compatible so that means that if you have one of the newer boards
0:41 particularly ASUS and Gigabyte have released a lot of SATA 3 ready boards
0:46 then you can actually hook this up to your SATA 3 controller now whether or
0:51 not you're going to see a huge performance Impact versus the older
0:54 Western Digital one TB black drives is
0:57 um not as clear but you should see higher burst speeds okay and you will
1:03 also be able to run it on that
1:06 controller now something else that they've added with this particular Drive
1:10 is that it has a 64 Meg cache now I'm not sure if you're going to be able to read that but right about there it says
1:14 it has a 64 Meg cache and most of the other blacks have a 32 Meg cache so I
1:20 have unbagged this drive I'm going to dump out the do not eat do not eat this
1:27 wow it's even in a bunch of different languages on this one that's very um
1:31 health conscious of Western Digital to
1:34 take care of that okay so why don't we start with the front of the drive this
1:38 is the front of the drive this is a standard 3 and 1/2 in OEM drive it
1:41 doesn't include any mounting screws or cables but what it does have is holes to
1:45 put mounting screws so you can put 1 2 3 here 1 two 3 here and that is how you
1:49 will Mount the drive or you can mount it with 1 2 3 4 at the bottom at the back
1:55 of the drive you will find oh it seems my cats want to help me unbox here look
2:00 do you like this yeah it's a hard drive okay why
2:05 don't you go on the floor thank you okay so at the back you will find and I would
2:10 normally say SATA power and SATA 2 Data
2:13 but today I will say SATA 3 data so there you go that is the biggest
2:18 difference between this and every other one tab Drive released by Western
2:21 Digital to date thank you for checking out my unboxing of the WD 1 tab black
