0:00 well that was fun I think we're actually live for real this time and uh you know
0:05 third time's a charm right so let's go
0:08 through our topics extremely quickly we're going to do the million subscriber
0:12 giveaway this week on The W show live here in front of all of you we're going
0:16 to talk about Apple's bendgate Fiasco with the iPhone 6 plus he's lost his
0:21 topic introduction privileges I've covered this before but for those of you
0:24 who are freshly watching this and didn't watch the first two fall starts of the
0:27 show I got to make sure I throw that in there Paul and Kyle have both left
0:33 Newegg and we're going to have them on the show to talk a little bit about
0:36 what's going on maybe we'll do some Twitter blitzing and Intel spent a
0:40 metric bucket ton of money on their new
0:44 10 nanometer process manufacturing
0:47 facility in Israel or will rather it's
0:50 not like done yet we can't have 10 nanometer processors yet but soon we
0:57 hope see if this works
1:01 yeah I don't hear any sound
1:08 whatever I just died in a
1:12 SW wait for it wait for it wait for it wait for
1:17 it and you think that's
1:22 funny okay so anyway uh Squarespace is one of our sponsors for the show today
1:26 create your own beautiful functional website it's affordable it's scalable
1:30 and it's 10% off with offer code Linus also we have ah linda.com also a sponsor
1:36 of the show today learn expand your mind make your brain more smarter linda.com
1:41 and that is exactly how they asked me to say that here's a hint it's not so we've
1:49 got a lot of great topics for this week can I help you nope
1:54 okay a lot of great topics for this week there's a rumor that is on wccf Tech
2:00 although don't freak out it's actually originally posted by PC tuning that
2:05 NVIDIA's Maxwell gm200 GPU could be
2:08 coming as soon as Q4 of this year so
2:13 it's rumored to have a die size of 551 mm squar making it the big core in the
2:18 Maxwell family with over 2500 Cuda core
2:22 so anywhere from 2560 to 2816 and
2:27 Okay so we decided to troll you a little
2:31 bit if you notice your shirt is slightly
2:34 different than my shirt my shirt's better my shirt has three people and so
2:39 do all of theirs hello so there's a whole bunch of shirts that have three
2:43 people and if you pay a lot of attention
2:46 who design logo on the back and if you
2:50 pay a lot of attention to what's on the shirt there's fractal Josh in the middle
2:54 cuz he's super tall and he's bro like bro fisting me and then throwing a pie
2:59 in your face yeah that's a pretty lame
3:05 shirt well I told him I wouldn't tell
3:09 you but Brandon might have leaked the SEC you're so lame it was a complete
3:17 accident how did you do that I unzipped my hoodie and then he saw it I was like
3:21 he oh well actually initially he's like oh nice shirt and then and then I turned
3:25 around I'm thinking that he didn't realize you a tape over mine so I have I
3:29 have prepared in advance my
3:35 rebuttal which is that you are fired you are no longer allowed to be on
3:41 my like ARM and legs are still there no don't worry I'm going to deal with
3:44 it God Brandon you're horrible I'm sorry
3:48 it was an accident you could have at least told me well I told him I wouldn't tell you
3:53 guys but then I did but then you wow I
3:57 want I want that smash back
4:00 oh get wrecked Josh says if people want
4:03 these shirts blow up his Twitter handle I don't know if you guys heard that but
4:07 apparently if people want the shirt self bro fist we only need one bro that's
4:13 just depressing no we only need one bro from kind sad I feel bad for you feel
4:19 bad for you you just lost your job yeah
4:22 get wrecked you still here
4:27 yes anyways so so I guess we should talk about the graphics card or whatever yeah
4:32 so back to that graphics card that we've talked about sort of one and a half
4:36 times already um this rumor actually
4:40 kind of makes sense so it's they're saying it's going to have a 384-bit
4:43 memory bus approximately 50% boost in performance over the GTX Titan black and
4:48 that it'll have double the performance per watt of the GK 110 which powered the
4:52 780 780 Ti Titan and Titan black so this
4:56 all actually makes a great deal of sense and is in line with NVIDIA's usual
5:00 strategy of one big core a mediumsized core which we can tell just by looking
5:05 at GM 204 that's what that is that's
5:08 that's not the top top tier card and uh
5:11 or at least the eventual top tier Maxwell card and then the the trickle
5:14 down keeps on going from there so um I
5:17 don't know I the one thing that we're
5:21 both not entirely sure about is the Q4 2014 launch date or or they're saying
5:26 should be within 2 months that sounds a little bit extreme maybe yeah and I mean
5:30 if that happens it'll be a compute card like a Tesla or a um or maybe even a
5:36 Quadro maybe not a consumer grade card
5:39 um although I mean who knows maybe I Maybe I'm Wrong maybe it'll be Titan 2
5:43 or something like that yeah could be possible all right moving on to our next
5:47 also NVIDIA related news Kingpin oh sorry that first one was originally
5:52 posted on the Forum by big stuns thank
5:55 you for that I don't know if it's stuns or like stro
6:00 no one's really sure that's the thing about online handles yeah is like are
6:03 capitals emphasis or how can you ever
6:07 really get a handle on something that's just Digital
6:12 Data well could grabbing a hard drive be
6:15 getting a handle on Digital Data or an
6:20 SSD because you're technically holding
6:24 it I think this might be the longest silence we've ever had on the W show I
6:29 basically talk constantly don't I didn't we have it no cuz I think we had like a
6:33 a one minute silence for something did we I think there was yeah whatever it
6:38 was it was probably something inappropriate and not something that actually deserved one minute silence
6:42 100% I don't I think so I don't remember what it was but it like didn't make a
6:45 ton of sense but we had a we had a minute silence for you seems like the
6:48 kind of thing I would do um all right so Mech 777 posted on the Forum that quote
6:54 unquote Maxwell is an overclocking monster Kingpin and Tin have cracked 2
6:59 GHz plus this was on L2 yeah I mean to be
7:03 clear you won't be cracking 2 gz plus unless you cool with liquid nitrogen but
7:09 uh got any more details while I they're running their core at 2103 MHz and their
7:13 memory at 1753 so all of that is just generally
7:17 insane um again though ln2 liquid
7:21 nitrogen they ran fire they got a fire strike score of
7:25 1940 and they got a fire strike 19,40 yeah my bad and they got a fire
7:30 strike extreme score of 9191 absolutely
7:35 ridiculous apparently the overclock was attributed to low power consumption yeah
7:40 low power consumption I mean also any of the other optimizations that NVIDIA's
7:43 made in Maxwell there's a lot of stuff that's still under the hood with Maxwell
7:47 that I think they're either waiting for the bigger core to reveal I mean that's
7:52 what that's what they do they tend to kind of pace the releases of their news
7:56 um speaking of that's why competition's good because if there isn't a ton of
8:01 competition that pace can go at whatever speed they want and if they're like well
8:05 if we develop slower then we don't have to spend as much on R&D and they just
8:09 slow the pace down well I don't think they're doing that because me neither
8:12 I'm saying just in general that's why competition's good I think it's just the
8:16 way that the way that the um the way that the R&D is being directed these
8:20 days where they still have to continue to develop and stay competitive in um
8:26 HPC for example so they're they still want to pump better GPU cores as fast as
8:31 possible we just might end up with ones that are more compute optimized and this
8:35 has been happening over the last few years that also happened to be fantastic
8:39 for gaming as well yeah okay now that's
8:42 a lot of good NVIDIA news but I have some very unfortunate NVIDIA news as
8:47 well this is something that's not actually on the dock and I I noticed and
8:51 I had someone assure me that it wasn't a big deal but I was pretty sure it was a
8:54 big deal I noticed at their editor's day that the PCS were running with Shield
8:59 controllers plugged into them I was like oh yeah I thought that wasn't PC
9:03 compatible at least not yet and so it has been confirmed by NVIDIA that it
9:07 wasn't and the version of GeForce experience and the latest driver that
9:12 came out with GTX 780 980 rather now
9:15 supports Shield as a controller on your PC which is or Shield controller not
9:21 Shield scary when someone says that there's bad news and then proceeds to
9:24 only give you good news oh yeah the bad news is coming so the unfortunate thing
9:29 and this is only moderately bad news is that it doesn't work wirelessly on your
9:34 computer and that makes sense cuz it's Wi-Fi direct and to my knowledge nothing
9:38 Wi-Fi Direct connects directly to your computer yet not as far as I know the
9:42 even the much worse news is uh where is
9:45 it compatibility uh okay Android devices
9:50 Etc okay it only works on their own Android devices which I kind of get
9:54 again Wi-Fi Direct whatever games
9:57 controllers can I use the shield wireless controller with a PC yes the
10:02 shield wireless controller is compatible as a wired controller with Windows 7 or
10:07 Windows 8 running GeForce
10:12 experience wow so just for just for
10:17 Giggles I tried to install GeForce experience on a computer that wasn't
10:21 running a GeForce graphics card it goes no supported hardware and boots you out
10:25 so the only way to install the driver for NVIDIA's like game controller is to
10:30 have an NVIDIA graphics card in your system this is extremely offensive to me
10:34 and I think if you install um just judging from over uh graphics card
10:39 overclocking and testing if you install GeForce experience with an NVIDIA card
10:42 plugged in and then swap it just won't run that's right so this is this is
10:47 incredibly disappointing to me I don't understand why NVIDIA wouldn't want
10:51 anyone to enjoy the experience of using
10:54 their controller I don't to I reached out to them for comment two days ago I
10:58 gave them 2 days to reply to my message about this and I was like what's going
11:04 on yeah I was going to say they might have just overlooked it they might have just bundled it into the GeForce
11:07 experience driver so we will update you guys next week on wo if we hear back
11:12 anything else or I'll try to I'll try to tweet it out when I hear back about it but for now you can't just install a
11:18 driver and to my knowledge there's nothing about the controller that would make it not work like maybe the touchpad
11:23 might not work or something if uh if you didn't have GeForce experience it should
11:27 just work as a standard controller would gForce experience affect the touchpad
11:30 well I I don't know like it might be some kind of emulated Mouse something
11:34 like but then that should be able to just be in a driver you would think that
11:38 but I can see why that might take longer to implement for example cuz the rest of
11:42 the way the controller works is exactly like a standard Xbox controller yeah I
11:46 just don't see what gForce experience does that would have anything to affect
11:49 the touchpad so it would be implenting the driver through GeForce experience or
11:52 implementing the driver through stand alone or or not because they do some
11:56 funny stuff with things like Mouse control over shield and stuff like that
12:00 like it depends how it was implemented so I don't know I'm just saying I don't
12:05 know I'm not saying that definitely it wouldn't work whatever the point is that
12:09 it should at least work as a controller that's it and the fact that
12:14 they're not allowing it to do that is just super crappy I mean think about
12:19 think imagine this for a second let's say uh someone who wants to use oh I
12:23 don't know steam in home streaming on an Ultrabook and happens to have a G4
12:29 powered gaming machine elsewhere in their house and thinks oh great I'll
12:33 just use my controller I'll plug it into my to my notebook and then I'll stream
12:36 to myself from my freaking GeForce PC
12:39 that will not work and that is a huge oversight from NVIDIA I'm extremely
12:43 upset about it I just think this is locking things away for the sake of
12:47 locking them away as opposed to for the sake of maintaining the end user's
12:52 experience which is what I do believe they do do a lot of the time
12:57 unfortunately this is is evidence that not everything that they do is
13:01 necessarily for the sake of making sure the user has a good experience because
13:06 this is not a good experience and there's no reason for it again they
13:10 could have possibly just there could possibly be a reason we will update you
13:13 if there's a reason I haven't heard back yet I more thought of it as an
13:17 oversight but we will see so there you
13:22 go okay uh we said we would pull them in at around five did we all right so let's
13:27 bring in our guests shall we we have Paul formerly of New Egg TV and
13:32 Kyle formerly of New Egg TV now of
13:36 Paul's Hardware and awesome sauce news
13:39 boy are they ever ugly hey I think they're extremely that's awesome sauce
13:44 Network for you sir so what you do more
13:47 than news now is that your thing yes exactly it's a bit more all-encompassing
13:51 than uh than the news tagline all encompassing you say what do you
13:55 Encompass by the way okay so for those of you who aren't familiar with these
13:58 Joker we've got Kyle right here and Paul right
14:02 here and they will be living between us I swear
14:08 I'll I don't know why I signed up this really and they'll be completely
14:12 replacing Luke who did you notice the shirts uh we joined
14:17 in I actually been wearing this all day I didn't even know that anything was
14:21 going on with your team trolling you this is just pure coincidence so it must
14:25 be it must be uh be and then he got here right as you guys were feeling the the
14:30 that you all had the shirts on and I was like oh I've got one too this is this is
14:33 how Paul answered the door five minutes ago and I rolled to his house he opens the door he like he looks me he's like I
14:37 have to change my clothes what's happening over
14:41 there that's very very important thank you guys for having us out yes thank you
14:45 thank you very much fantastic oh apparently you guys are pretty loud hold
14:49 on a second I'm going to turn you all down a little bit maybe I'll just turn you down all the way you guys are so
14:53 influential he just said y'all all right uh let's uh doesn't dislike you guys
14:57 that much let's let's hear from people let's see if that uh see if that sounds
15:01 okay uh you guys are also peeking a little bit so I'm not sure if that's a
15:05 microphone setting or whatever else but hopefully we're all good apparently the
15:09 stream died so I don't know what's up with that it doesn't look like it's dead
15:13 on our side so we're going to we're going to continue sort of along here
15:17 sound ugly for a second what if you push the mic a little further away yeah that
15:21 could help too yeah we dropped a few frames but it looks like we are we are
15:24 definitely back here so all right what the heck is going on over
15:30 there oh you know this a little of that
15:35 uh hash Newegg
15:38 gate so yeah I guess um if you guys
15:41 aren't familiar with like New Egg TV uh
15:45 that's what Kyle and I have been doing for for quite a few years now uh kind of
15:48 regular presenters on on the new egg tv YouTube channel um Kyle does a little
15:53 bit more behind the scenes than I do but uh kind of similar to what lonus you
15:57 used to do with uh with NC right and we
16:01 have just recently um both sort of independently and then we both kind of
16:05 found out that we were both kind of on the same page uh made made the decision
16:09 that we were GNA go our separate ways and leave New Egg um we still have a a a
16:15 setup there so we are still we're not going to be gone completely we're still
16:18 going to be participating a little bit over there Kyle was just over there
16:22 today and he did the alt tab live show uh that is also on Twitch great that was
16:28 good times yes yes it's um so you guys
16:31 are going independent do you feel a little bit like um oh I don't know
16:36 copycats copycats I was I was gonna say
16:40 uh was it Logan didn't Lan just gonna say because I've seen a lot of people
16:45 say hey everyone's they've been say we're pulling like a Jerry like like
16:49 because Jerry was the most recent person to leave his job and to some degree uh
16:55 but I I I gota I gotta go back to Logan I feel like Logan kind of set the bar
17:00 for for all of us on that one yeah exactly we're all at the end of the day
17:03 we're all copying someone it might as well be Logan right exactly but um it's
17:08 it's just kind of interesting how this this huge transition for both Paul and I
17:11 kind of started at the same time and uh I think it was kind of for the best uh
17:16 that it happened at the same time as opposed to spreading it out you know
17:19 like having one big announcement at the company and then a month later somebody
17:23 else is leaving um so we kind of just talked about it I was like Hey so Paul
17:27 I'm planning this and he's like really I'm I'm kind of planning this we're like oh wow it's kind of funny why don't we
17:31 do it together or whatever so kind of worked out that way and um you know but
17:36 but still still much love to Newegg they've they've helped me a lot that
17:39 that was literally my first job straight out of college they're the only people
17:42 who would take me um shame on them them
17:46 oh but we had a few other
17:50 uh choices um yes but
17:53 they it didn't work
17:56 out that was so ominous
17:59 looks off into the distance I wasn't sure choices but discretion isn't really
18:03 Paul specialty out but yeah at the end of the
18:06 day uh going going independent is I think a good decision for both of us um
18:11 I I know I'm really excited uh this last week I've just been you know waking up
18:15 at at 9: as opposed to 7 which is always awesome working hard and the ability
18:20 straight up the ability because before I would work 40 hours a week at new EG I
18:24 would come home around 5:30 6: p.m. have dinner take a shower by the time I'm
18:28 ready to actually start a video for my personal channel it's like 9:00 and I'm
18:32 up till 3:00 a.m. and got to wake up at 7:30 the next morning it's just it it's
18:36 a it's a a mind worldl so being able to
18:39 wake up write a script and conceptualize a video and shoot and edit that video
18:43 and post it all on the same day is amazing H it's it's probably it's a
18:49 great feeling to have which I'm sure you guys are in that sort of same workflow
18:53 um for your channel So speaking of you
18:56 know waking up and conceptualizing a video and then uh you know producing it
19:01 and all that stuff have you guys actually have you guys made much content
19:06 since you've gone independent and how is this going to affect the the type of
19:09 content that you're creating uh Kyle has I I have not yet I
19:15 so I was trying to get a to finish off a
19:18 video last night and I didn't so uh that's still I'm gonna post there be a
19:23 new video on my channel this evening I promise 95% of the way how are you guys
19:29 planning to support yourselves I mean I think that you don't have to explain to
19:32 me that um you know Google AdSense is
19:36 not necessarily the the White Knight and savior that uh that people who watch but
19:41 don't necessarily create the content might believe it is what's that is very true uh we're
19:47 nowhere near neither of us are anywhere near being able to support ourselves on
19:50 just the AdSense Revenue um I think part
19:53 of as you probably know part of the nature of kind of the content that we do
19:57 since we cover technology we cover products that are brought to Market and
20:02 sold to people and that companies make profit from uh so as a result of that we
20:06 have the possibility to um do things like pre-roll type ads those things that
20:11 you've done um I mean obviously there's there's you got to kind of especially
20:16 when it's for your own Channel versus working for a separate company you got
20:19 to kind of take a step back and think okay if I'm going to do something like
20:23 this how am I going to do it how am I going to make it as non-intrusive for
20:26 anyone who's watching my channel as possible also give give companies a chance to you know promote their
20:31 products if they want to um so I I think uh I might be doing some basic simple
20:36 you know like five five to 10 second pre-roll ads uh for in in the near
20:40 future um and then uh I might I might
20:44 actually be doing some some writing uh for for some websites that uh do do
20:49 content of of the technical nature I
20:54 guess more information I know none of this stuff is is set in stone yet so I
20:58 don't want to say like yes I'm going to be doing this until I I know for sure's
21:02 like one big strip teas wanting more at the end that's it
21:06 our seduction but you guys are also still going to be doing some stuff with
21:09 new egg correct yes yeah uh So the plan
21:12 right now is that we're each going to go in one day a week and uh help out with
21:17 whatever the regular content is and we might be doing some additional videos
21:20 here and there as well uh so the the Yol show which is kind of tech news and US
21:25 messing around uh which is kind of fun the alt tab live show
21:29 are the main ones right now and then um you know the obviously the team over
21:33 there is going through some trans transition right now at the same time so
21:37 uh we need to sort of also wait and see and say okay we've taken a step back
21:41 from from any kind of leadership role that we might have played before so what
21:45 do they want to do next and how can we play a part in that um so yeah that's
21:49 and that's the main thing I think that we wanted to communicate to people while
21:52 this is a pretty huge change for both of us personally and possibly I guess also
21:57 a decent change for the the new egg Channel as well this was not
22:01 done out of animosity towards new egg or
22:04 anything anything to that effect we we still I'm still going to be ordering
22:07 stuff there all the time because I can drive right over to will call and uh and
22:12 yeah so there's no like major problems or anything like that it was just uh
22:17 something both of us kind of kind of came to realize I think Kyle had some some other personal family reasons and
22:21 then for me I mean you if you work for somewhere for an extended period of time
22:26 as great as it might be at some point you just need to decide okay I need to I
22:30 need to stretch myself and and reach out and try to do something uh that's a
22:34 little bit more different or that allows me to uh I don't know like Kyle was
22:38 saying earlier the creativity Fly Fly Away Little Bird I was stretching myself
22:43 and putting my ARM around you and then you just abandoned me gosh is that tape
22:48 that you use to cover that that's a a giant massive waste of electrical tape
22:52 you got to let that bad boy shine actually much more expensive Gaff tape
22:57 oh God that's a sin so I hate to do this to you guys but
23:00 skype's using up about 20% of our CPU right now and our stream is lagging to
23:05 crap because we're at 100% CPU usage so I'm actually webcam I'm gonna have to
23:10 say thank you guys so much for coming on but it's kind of not it's not working
23:15 for us unfortunately right now this relationship isn't going to be a for
23:18 effort so we'll we'll we'll come on hopefully in a future episode or
23:22 something like that we're going to upgrade our CPU and we'll have you guys
23:25 on again to just kind of be regular guests I think it's great that you came
23:28 on for the announcement but I think I have to I have to let you go so thank
23:33 you guys again I'm very sorry nothing personal except that I hate you no
23:37 worries of course we love you guys's trying to to direct people to his Amazon
23:42 link instead of yours no actually wow
23:45 not watch my last video go to my channel and watch it I specifically say if you
23:50 don't already have Linus's bookmark don't and now he's like desperately
23:56 trying to plead for views he wants me to go watch his video don't watch my vide
24:00 please watch my videos I need that one more incremental count all right we'll
24:04 see you guys later see hopefully that fixes it yeah I
24:09 certainly hope it does so let's go ahead and move that screen region see what
24:13 happens to our CPU usage now computer is not stoked yeah no super unhappy okay so
24:19 look at that we are weighed down and hopefully we are actually encoding
24:24 frames instead of dropping them now welcome back to the show actually
24:29 functioning like I said guys there wasn't really anything that I could do
24:34 about it um we had about Skype was claiming 20% CPU load it looks like it
24:39 was actually closer to around 35% so we
24:42 went from 60% CPU to no CPU left at all
24:49 and we were pinned at 100% that was brutal so I'm really sorry about that
24:53 you guys we will bring Paul and Kyle back on sometime in the near future
24:57 hopefully in the next few weeks here and we will we will dive into some topics
25:01 together and have that tech chat that I know you guys want to hear and I'm
25:04 really sorry about that but we got to just move forward with the show we can't
25:07 have it running like that forever looks like we're not dropping frames anymore
25:10 so I think we're good I think we're good I think that fixed it all right so
25:14 moving on to bendgate this was originally posted on the lonus tech tips
25:18 Forum by Lars reviews and there's actually a fairly excellent thread if
25:22 you're not already a member of Linus tips.com then you should probably go
25:26 there because if we don't have enough members he'll lose his job again oh my
25:31 wow yeah yeah that's right we don't have enough members I think we have enough
25:34 members okay I have the one most important
25:39 member that's not on the Forum though no that's if it was I think I'd probably
25:43 have to remove it but I wouldn't delete that thread I would just hide it yeah
25:48 excellent excellent thread on the Forum about it but basically um there's a some
25:53 videos allegedly breaking phones in half
25:57 made by one of our one of our good friends Lou over at unbox therapy where
26:03 because break it in half well when
26:06 something is okay not at the halfway point I
26:10 guess yes so the point is there were some reports of people having iPhone 6
26:15 pluses bending from carrying them in their front pockets uh these kind of
26:21 started to circulate on the internet and Lou from unbox therapy made a video
26:25 demonstrating how easily the phone could be significantly bent and then how the
26:31 screen would crack and it would basically become useless once you bent
26:35 it back to its original flat form this
26:38 has been the most viral video I think on
26:42 any Tech YouTuber's Channel ever and um
26:46 Lou posted a posted a screenshot from his YouTube creators app of it at 10
26:51 million views I think the morning after he originally posted it this thing went
26:56 super crazy viral but I think it's like 30 million now or
27:00 something just for that one video and he's released three on the topic which
27:03 are all above a million views way more and he's been doing B tests of other
27:07 things other people are jumping on the the benest wagon I think I saw NC post
27:12 on their Facebook today a motherboard bent over I recognized the board too
27:16 it's an x58 board that was a sample that we got like ages ago when I when I used
27:23 to work there oh man uh people are
27:26 saying banded 980 get more views I really don't think that would happen I
27:29 think people would just call us idiots yeah and and that would be really hard to do yeah we'd have to put it in a vice
27:34 and stuff i' just rather not B the 980
27:38 I'd rather people someone at some point game on that 980 because that's I don't
27:43 believe in Breaking Hardware on purpose I do think particularly the original
27:48 Bend demonstration video was very important Justified just to make people
27:52 aware of the issue but along those lines
27:56 apple is claiming now that it is n actually an issue so they're saying that
28:01 out of all the you know hype surrounding Bend gate only nine users have actually
28:08 come forward to Apple about having
28:11 broken their or bent their phone through regular use and they are saying that any
28:15 of the phones that were able to be bent so easily in this manner
28:21 um just must be suffering from some kind of materials defect and it's not a
28:26 problem with the design of the phone uh there's a lot of other stuff kind of
28:29 floating around so this is just kind of a funny Apple uh threw up a job posting
28:34 for a Q&A sort of position that one of
28:39 the things listed in the job description was was bending testing was it Ashley
28:43 yeah but I but again this think it was a joke this is this is stuff that that
28:49 could have just been a regular job posting anyway I don't think it
28:52 necessarily has anything to do with bendgate I think really the proof will
28:56 be in the pudding are we going to see more people coming forward with bent
29:00 phones um one thing that I've seen Apple Fanboys kind of running around saying is
29:05 oh well it's aluminum so you know yeah
29:09 it was going to bend anyway you know what the one I made is aluminum and um I
29:15 I can't I can't bend it I can turn it
29:18 on like change the volume but I can't bend the phone which it did perfectly
29:23 fine while he was trying to bend it for that matter the 5S has an aluminum back
29:27 it's by Apple also doesn't B so um I
29:31 think I think that's pretty much it there's honestly not that much to say
29:36 it's a massively overe exhausted topic yep I don't want to even give it that
29:41 much more attention one new other thing Apple says that the new phones feature
29:45 steel and titanium inserts to reinforce stress locations and they use the
29:49 strongest glass in the industry so okay
29:53 they didn't use Sapphire which we all thought they were going to use yeah that
29:57 was interesting that could have been interesting because I wonder if that would have helped
30:01 resist bending I kind of I mean Marcus's
30:04 video where he has the sapphire crystal glass um oh that's a good point he he
30:08 kind of in his first video in particular I think he unfortunately hadn't seen
30:14 Corning Gorilla Glass 3 off of a phone before so he was kind of marveling at
30:18 how clear it was and how it flexed and all that but Gorilla Glass 3 behaves in
30:21 pretty much exactly the same man so aside from the scratch resistance I
30:25 don't think yeah which wouldn't have actually helped rigidity in any way so
30:29 yeah never mind moot point so okay I
30:33 hadn't heard anything about this what's going on with the cooler the EVGA ACX
30:38 970 cooler ah yes originally posted on the Forum by devil Z thank you Sean um X
30:46 EVGA this is this is this is Sean's headline here EVGA could lose out on
30:50 quite a bit of money due to trying to cut costs on their GTX 970 980 cards and
30:56 the the original article is from E Technics and it's that EVGA may have
31:01 used a cooler from a bigger card to save on manufacturing cost so there's a
31:07 picture of a cooler taken off an EVGA uh
31:10 900 series card here and I'm going to go ahead I'm going to load that page
31:15 eventually if I can but in the meantime why don't we just switch to the No guest
31:19 view so you guys don't have to wait for it but basically what happened was the
31:23 bottom sorry it started working which did there oh no no no it didn't
31:28 what this page is still not loading yeah I just switched back to a page that
31:31 works like lusch tips.com oops hey
31:35 that's right get wrecked um so basically I'll just have to help you guys
31:38 visualize this there's three heat pipes there we go you need help with your
31:42 demonstration should I be the heat pipes uh yeah you can be the heat pipes okay
31:46 so there's three heat pipes and then the you can tell from the thermal paste
31:50 pattern that the GPU core itself is actually only contacting two of them and
31:56 one of them is not making contact with the GPU core now this has led to some
32:01 speculation that evga's direct touch
32:04 cooler will not work very well and could perform significantly worse than if all
32:08 three heat pipes were making contact there is some truth to this direct heat
32:13 pipe touch technology does make a difference and having them all touching
32:17 the core would probably help but I think people are overestimating how much of a
32:23 difference that's going to make remember the problem with a copper base plate on
32:29 anything let's say a heat sink or yeah let's say a heat sink because that would
32:33 be fairly related yeah so the problem with having a copper base on a heat on a
32:38 heat sink the reason that we use heat pipes and Vapor Chambers instead of just
32:42 using a flat slab of copper is that copper can't conduct heat away quickly
32:48 enough in order to provide the best possible cooling once you build a heat
32:51 sink that's large enough over short distances this is not an issue so with
32:58 the dye right next to it right there and those heat pipes being the hottest part
33:03 of that cooler and that next Heat pipe being right next to those other heat
33:07 pipes that are the hottest part of the cooler it's going to be working it's
33:11 going to be doing something might not be as effective but we're talking I'd be
33:15 surprised if the difference is more than a degree or two and in the grand scheme
33:20 of things that's not going to be a huge deal these car are already running
33:24 pretty cool they are already running pretty cool that said you know is two de
33:29 the difference between one boost State versus another boost State on cards that
33:33 overclock themselves maybe um but I'd also suspect
33:38 that having another person sitting in the room watching you game would make as
33:42 much of a difference because just the heat from their body and we're already
33:45 getting like low temps of around 70 on average as far as I've been able to tell
33:49 with our cards yeah with non- reference cards
33:52 yeah so there you go that's pretty much
33:56 I guess all I really have to say about that I don't think it's as big of a deal
33:59 as other people are EVGA did respond they said that though and I hadn't
34:03 actually seen their response yet this has been added to the doc since last time I looked at it the way the gtx970
34:09 ACX heat sink was designed is based on the gtx970 wattage plus an additional
34:15 40% cooling head room on top of it so they're saying about a total of 200
34:20 Watts uh also we would like to mention that the cooler passed NVIDIA's green
34:24 light specifications due to the small
34:27 contact area of that GPU because it has a small die size we intended for the GPU
34:33 to contact two major heat pipes with direct touch to make to get the best
34:38 heat dissipation out of it without any other material in between them um blah
34:42 blah blah etc etc etc regarding fan noise this is not a fan noise issue is
34:47 more oh okay regarding fan noise we understood that some had expressed concerns over the fan noise of evg
34:51 gtx970 cards this is not a fan noise issue but more of an aggressive fan
34:55 curve set by the default BIOS regardless we have heard your concerns we are going
34:59 to provide a BIOS update that keeps the cards quieter and ramps up less
35:04 aggressively with that said you can control GPU fan speeds and software so
35:08 if you don't want to wait for the BIOS update then I would say fairly simple to
35:11 do go for it especially with their I
35:14 can't remember name right now youing have you forgotten you're dead to me
35:18 what's the name of their software again Precision Precision Precision X has
35:22 pretty good fan fan curve stuff in it so if you want to change it use their own
35:25 software not too hard The Verge wrote a pretty hilarious I
35:30 guess I made it about two-thirds of the way through and then I got kind of bored but it was pretty funny while I be that
35:35 hilarious no it was pretty funny they wrote a pretty hilarious piece on the
35:39 fact that the next or well the okay apparently uh the fact that the next
35:44 Nexus tablet will be made by HTC and the
35:48 verg article was full of you know lovers quarrels and all this kind of stuff the
35:52 the main characters are of course Google HTC Tam Tung like a triangle no yeah
35:58 just just kind of the the industry the Android ecosystem all all the different
36:02 players it was pretty funny but basically that's it this was posted by
36:05 eth nood on the Forum and the original Source here is rutters.com and
36:10 apparently Google has selected HTC For an upcoming 9in Nexus tablet so it looks
36:17 like they're splitting they're using HTC for their tablet and I believe they're using uh Moto Motorola still for their
36:22 phone is that confirmed or are we speculating based on that looks like the
36:26 Moto xul right but it it it has like the circular
36:31 Flash and it has all the stuff which is very similar to the it does look very
36:35 similar again it's still speculation but it's it's I don't know it'll be
36:39 interesting using two different manufacturers so Google has been mulling
36:43 HTC is a potential partner for since last year HTC hasn't made a tablet since
36:49 2011 um so this was announced at Google IO in June it's expected Q3 2014 and it
36:56 will apparently be power by the Tegra K1 which is
37:00 extremely good news because something
37:03 that I noticed I don't know if other people noticed but a NCH had a great
37:07 article on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus's performance and of all the
37:13 Android devices that were in the performance charts the one that really
37:19 hung with the iPhone 6 and the 6 Plus was the NVIDIA Shield tablet which is
37:24 based on the Tegra K1 with and that's
37:27 that's in terms of CPU in terms of GPU the K1 blew away everything yeah just
37:32 absolutely demolished everything else NVIDIA so I'm I'm excited about that the
37:37 problem with the K1 the big like I I
37:40 wonder if NVIDIA had hoped that K1 would be suitable for phone use but the
37:45 problem with the K1 is that The Thermals are just not really suitable for that
37:50 and they're more optimal for tablet use
37:53 at this time so at least we can have fast Android tablets as fast as the
37:56 fastest Apple device um just not smartphones yet I'm also not
38:01 surprised that the K1 is heavily focused on
38:04 GPU I am why NVIDIA yeah I mean they're
38:08 all a boat stop trolling you were so genuine with that I am I was like did I
38:14 miss something what did I do holy crap I
38:17 said something stupid no no you didn't say anything stupid you just wore
38:20 something stupid so that's why you're dead to me no dead to me speaking of
38:26 dead to me uh Watch Dogs is turning into a franchise they are not dead at
38:32 all oh that's a terrible segue I know I
38:35 could have said a lot of different things about I could I could have tied
38:38 dead to me into Watch Dogs and Ubisoft in a lot of different ways that's yeah
38:42 that's yeah let's say took the hard way rather than saying that you know I
38:47 missed an opportunity why don't we say I had restraint there there we go you know
38:50 what I'm down with that all right because usually we do the digging thing
38:54 at any rate uh this was originally posted by
38:57 D dlf on the Forum I couldn't tell if it was diff diff or dlf and the original
39:03 articles from computer and video games and Ubisoft Montreal's well we're just
39:08 staring at the dock right now Vice President of creative of creative yes
39:12 that's a thing is it maybe not uh anyway
39:16 uh has said that although the game has its flaws he feels it succeeds in
39:20 establishing a brand and promise for the
39:23 future that's an awkward way to do that
39:28 flaw I'll I'll let you talk now I'm I'm taking off the dead to me thing a yay so
39:33 so it's flawed but you know we believe in it it'll be okay hopefully we won't
39:38 completely screw it up next time and then you guys will hopefully like it or
39:41 we'll just say this and you'll buy it and then we'll just keep moving on anyways cuz we're ubis Stu they did make
39:45 a good point they brought up that Assassin's Creed 1 had a lot of
39:49 complaints about it and was hardly a perfect game that's cuz they gave it like no budget and cut it off early so
39:55 they didn't have time to develop missions for the rest of the game so they just reused missions from previous
39:58 parts of the game but the point was that Assassin's Creed 2 sold just fine in
40:03 spite of the complaints about Assassin's Creed 1
40:07 sold it was a great game I loved Assassin's Creed 2 it was really good
40:11 but yeah and there was the very valid complaints about Assassin's Creed 1
40:16 which I also liked because you you did like the first three missions and you
40:19 just basically repeated that for the entire rest of the game um so I don't
40:23 know if they do the same thing that would be fantastic cuz that means the
40:26 next Watch Dogs will be really good Assassin's Creed 2 was great but I don't
40:30 know because it did look like Watch Dogs got a much larger budget than Assassin's
40:34 Creed 1 oh yeah it did and that was the main problem with Assassin's Creed 1 it
40:37 was it was the fact that they ran out of budget but I mean the way that the
40:41 statement was phrased I think is I think is is pretty good where basically he
40:46 says okay there are flaw flaws which is good you know we want to tackle those
40:50 flaws and surprise players uh we need to be careful not to change the things
40:55 people liked and address things that
40:58 they didn't like and hopefully you know
41:01 particularly from a PC Gamers perspective that's going to happen right
41:05 starting at the beginning of the development process when the PC gets
41:08 treated like a priority as opposed to not even an afterthought you can't even
41:11 call it an afterthought that's what's terrible about it is it was with
41:15 forethought and Malice allegedly that
41:18 they nerfed it um so hopefully we won't see that happen again and Watch Dogs 2
41:22 will be the only thing that scares me about this is that we've had Ubisoft
41:27 tote rah rah we're g to make it better in front of us before and then just
41:31 completely ignore it when the time for Action came to be I know so so this is
41:36 great I hope it happens but I'm not I wouldn't throw any beds things can
41:41 change though I mean I think I brought this up on W show before so I won't talk
41:45 about it for too long but talking to the direct X lead at Microsoft when he
41:50 showed up at the uh at the NVIDIA event he was like yeah we have a different
41:54 culture now you know like I'm encouraged to be out here talking to journalists
41:58 and and engaging with the community about the direction of direct 3D when
42:02 before it was it was very close n much
42:05 more cloistered yeah and so I I don't
42:09 know I I basically CU I I kind of grilled him a little bit actually some
42:12 things that I knew he wouldn't know but I just wanted to kind of someone who
42:17 might have some influence there let's just beat him up while he's down and I
42:20 kind of went man why didn't Halo 1 get
42:24 multiplayer Co-op and he was like legitimately don't know that and I'm
42:28 like man why do they keep recommitting to us and then doing this master chief
42:33 Edition not coming to PC what the hell is that so I basically just went man
42:37 does Microsoft even care and all he could really say was Microsoft is
42:42 changing and he he he spoke very earnestly about it he seems like a great
42:47 guy Mr nadell has been making a crazy amount of changes he's not a PR guy he's
42:51 a technical guy he's a programmer always cool so I don't expect him to give me a
42:56 PR response but he seemed genuinely convinced that Microsoft is on a great
43:00 track and cares about Gamers and the other thing he said is that his team has
43:05 always cared and has watching the very
43:09 few amount of DX like announcements and demos that you're able to watch where
43:13 those guys are up on stage allowed to talk they do seem like they care a lot
43:17 yeah and he was telling me like there's guys on his team amount of those you know $4,000 $5,000 gaming rigs at home
43:23 like these are PC gaming enthusiasts at
43:27 least some of them and he kind of went you know yeah we're we're optimistic you
43:32 know we we believe in the future so so who knows maybe Ubisoft who hasn't
43:37 gotten a new CEO or really changed at
43:45 all hopefully they do those things so
43:48 speaking of changes oh D
43:52 cair changed The Branding on their
43:55 gaming peripheral and we might have all collectively
43:59 freaked out a little bit too much probably but let's just let's just go
44:02 through the Saga here so uh here's this
44:05 video they made with like some soldiers this is I think just the outro for it
44:09 like have you watched the video no actually it's pretty over the top the production values are like pretty good
44:14 like I have no idea how much that cost um just looking at that animation yeah
44:20 so they released a new a new brand for their gaming products oh I'm not logged
44:25 in so that's not working winner everything is broken everything is
44:29 broken something something something something something everything is broken
44:35 all right so they um they redid their
44:38 Vengeance branding the old sort of yellow Vengeance logo that we would find
44:42 on older Corsair gaming products I used to have a keyboard in here but I took it
44:46 out of here for a b-roll or something so I don't have it at the moment um and
44:49 then they redid it so instead of having the Corsair sales and then Vengeance as
44:53 kind of a separate sub brand they created this um kind of two cross blade
44:58 thing that ends up looking kind of like a tribal tattoo that would belong on the
45:02 small of your back or like a cling on bat lith uh with a little heart in the
45:07 middle of it like it there isn't there aren't really many great ways to to look
45:12 at it I saw a crazy crab holding swords with a heart on his head yeah yeah
45:16 that's that's another that's another way I've had people suggest that it's kind
45:19 of like a crabber rang yeah so it's a batter ring but but it's a crab that's
45:25 funny there should be there should be crabman
45:30 um that would actually make a great one extremely strong ARM and one really not
45:36 strong one that would make a tremendous like Cartoon Network show it's like
45:39 crabman and he's just always like an ass to
45:43 everyone I'll save you but I won't like it yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah anyway so
45:48 they they took away the sales they they took away Corsair Vengeance sub Brandon
45:52 now it's all unified under Corsair gaming they made a big habab this which
45:57 I actually wonder if ended up working against them they had press releases PR
46:02 statements they redid all their packaging they took new products like
46:06 the uh RGB series keyboards and packaged them with this new cor Corsair gaming
46:10 brand they took existing products like their 1500 headset and 1300 headset we
46:15 actually have a bunch of them in the hallway and they repackaged them under the new branding redid the industrial
46:19 design on the products like this was not a cheap Initiative for Corsair to
46:25 undergo this rebranding process and then the community freaked
46:31 out there was a change.org petition which I really feel like was a little
46:35 over the top I mean change.org most change.org petitions are a little bit
46:39 over the top okay fair enough um PC Master race the the subreddit was
46:44 explosive uh the threads online as Tech tips are many many many posts long
46:50 discussing this and I think
46:54 that basically all there really is to say about it is I don't really like the
46:58 logo either me neither I released a video about it last night I don't think it's great um but something that I
47:03 actually didn't realize until I was talking to someone at Corsair about the
47:06 video we made last night where it's kind of a troll video we show how to mod your
47:10 keyboard and take the logo off and put something else on I was talking to
47:13 someone from Corsair and I kind of went yeah realistically I think everyone's
47:16 going to forget because it only it takes
47:19 this conversation we're having now for me to remember how much I hated the
47:23 Vengeance logo when I first saw it and I still hate it I think it's horrible
47:27 I think that font I think the bright yellow was never good and that's
47:30 something people are forting as well they're upset about the yellow in the
47:33 gaming logo vengance was already yellow branding yeah that said they didn't put
47:38 Vengeance on the product it was mostly on the box yeah
47:43 that's true which helps a lot but I'm just saying I think that people will kind of forget about it eventually and
47:48 who knows maybe I mean Vengeance was only with us if few few years who knows
47:51 maybe they'll Rebrand it again at some point but I think that this was very
47:56 much an over reaction um I think corsera responded to it in the best way that
48:00 they possibly could with yellow Beard's post Yellow Beard's post so k70 RGB
48:06 keyboards with red switches Cherry MX red switches that already had the
48:10 original logo will continue to exist for some time so people who really want the
48:15 original logo on their keyboard can get it and then the other ones will have the
48:19 course their gaming logo so if you want blue or brown switches a K65 or a k95
48:24 the 10 keyless and the one with macro keys then you'll be you'll have to have
48:27 the new logo and honestly if you do really hate it the guide line has posted
48:32 is actually not even that bad just get a flat head screwdriver and take it off
48:35 like you can get rid of that glue residue pretty easily you can put like a cool Deco there or something yeah put a
48:40 cool Deco fill it up with Plasti Dip do something like it's it's not that hard
48:43 to fix yeah so I I'm actually I'm amazed
48:46 they got over 7,000 signatures on the keep the old logo
48:51 petition oh man yeah so what do we want
48:55 to do like interesting topic or like
48:58 let's go with interesting topic all right so we just got 14 nanometer so
49:04 Intel is is just now releasing products what is it core core M or whatever it is
49:10 yeah the the the mobile one yeah broad y yeah yeah so these like super super low
49:15 power we're talking Core i5 dual core
49:19 class processors with beefy dedicated graphics in like fanless tablets like
49:25 pretty cool stuff we just got those and now in the news Intel is planning to
49:30 spend another 6 billion this time on a
49:34 10 nanometer Fab every single time they
49:37 go down in manufacturing process everyone's like oh this is it they can't
49:41 go any further there's no way technology can advance we've hit the end boys this
49:45 is this is as far as we can go and then couple months later dead yeah yeah
49:49 couple months later new manufacturing plant billions of dollars have been
49:52 spent and they're going to make smaller ones it's like Okay cool so this was
49:56 posted by Jer on the jerich on the Forum
49:59 um you know it's funny along the lines of what you were just saying I remember
50:03 my my um my SSD fome campus tour y when
50:07 I got to visit Intel that one time and
50:10 um I remember walking into a room where they basically said don't take any
50:14 pictures or film anything in here and I kind of went why and it turned out that
50:19 the Whiteboard and like the drawings on it
50:22 were and I think it's late enough now yeah 3D 3D n is here 3D transistors are
50:28 here but that was like the plan for for 3D and know I was like really that's
50:35 cool it's like internal like drawings on a whiteboard I was like that is so cool
50:39 I'm geeking out right now I don't understand any of it but it's still
50:43 awesome but it's still freaking cool and I remember asking them questions in my
50:48 interviews you know we keep hearing about the end of Mor's law we keep
50:52 hearing about how flash isn't going to continue to get higher density or
50:55 whatever else and and I think if you look at sort of a a shortterm past sort
51:02 of if you take a short-term past chunk it might look that way I mean the
51:07 iPhone 6 if you look at devices if you
51:10 look at still comes in 16 gig if you look at Solid State Storage on its own
51:15 though it is getting massively larger it is um but looking at phones and devices
51:21 and stuff like that no but to to to go back to the kind of growth we were
51:25 seeing before I think we're have to wait a little bit because that's about to
51:28 happen again you we look at what they're capable of doing with ddr4 for example
51:33 with some of the new uh the new die stacking Technologies you look at what
51:37 Samsung is doing with their new 3D nand where they're taking instead of having
51:42 you know 20 nmet class nand that's spread out horizontally they're stacking
51:48 40 nanometer class n to get the same capacities and better reliability and
51:53 better speeds with about the same raw material so they take that technology
51:58 they shrink that down who capacities are not done yet every time that we feel
52:03 like we hit some sort of wall someone goes oh hey if we climb it in this
52:07 really weird way we can keep going that happens like every single time it'll
52:11 make no sense then someone will come up with an alternative it will make tons of
52:14 sense and we will keep on going and it's Intel almost every time it's funny cuz I
52:18 got called out on our fastest possible about process Technologies manufacturing
52:23 processes for like um favoring Intel or
52:27 like fanboying over Intel because I brought up uh basically I alluded to
52:31 their Tik Tok um their Tik Tok development process and I also I don't
52:37 know what's going on with my computer and I also brought up the core M as my
52:41 example of 14 nmet processor but I went
52:44 back and looked into it Intel has been first to every process node over like
52:50 the last 20 years and they hit a new one like every two
52:54 years yeah that's not a real point debate yeah it's it's just a thing
52:59 different like processors that different price skes and all that kind different
53:02 architectures different architectures optimize for gaming optimized for tablet
53:06 yeah you can definitely debate all that kind of stuff but manufacturing they
53:10 developed this thing at this date and then that's what happened there's I
53:13 don't know there's facts posted by red
53:17 round 2 on The Forum the original article from Anon we actually um alluded
53:22 to this just just a moment ago but the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus are Benchmark
53:29 monsters so there you go there's the iPhone 6 iPhone 6 plus the 5S Shield
53:37 tablet Windows Phone are we going to find an Android device that doesn't have
53:41 a tiger K1 in it here we go oh oh boy so
53:45 they are they are wrecking machines and they don't do that well in every single
53:49 Benchmark but they are at or near the top of the charts pretty much across the
53:54 board so yay the newest phone does the best things yeah I was going to say as
54:00 exciting as this might be and as great as it is that we're getting faster and
54:04 faster mobile devices I think that the
54:07 people who are disappointed in the iPhone 6 are the same people who were
54:12 disappointed in the Galaxy 5S but just
54:16 that happened to carry something with an Apple logo in their pocket versus
54:19 something with a Samsung logo in their pocket I think we're all getting
54:23 disenchanted with smartphones all at the same time
54:27 I am like hardcore that's that's a thing I
54:31 I think we've talked about how phones are going through the same thing PC's
54:35 did um but they're going through the same thing PCS did over like an
54:39 extremely long period of time and they're like surpassing where PCS are at
54:43 but then not getting that thing where PCS kind of dwindled for a little while
54:47 and now we're awesome again I don't think they're really getting that and I
54:50 don't know if they are going to no no the future for phones is definitely
54:54 going to be in interface design and not in Hardware at least over over the next
54:58 little while software usability HCI which is called uh human computer
55:02 interaction so just like how you use your phone uh like natural paper thing
55:07 that Android's trying to do all that kind of stuff is going to be a really big deal y wearable devices I'm really
55:12 disappointed in the Moto 360 now that the reviews are out um I I actually
55:17 walked into a Best Buy the morning of the launch kind of not really thinking
55:21 about it I'd been napping in the car that was driving me from the airport to
55:25 the NVIDIA event and I walked in I was like holy crap it's a Moto
55:28 360 interesting do you have any and the guy at the till said yes so I I just
55:33 about bought one right there just so I could review it if nothing else and now
55:37 I'm kind of glad I didn't because the thing that I was expecting it to
55:42 disappoint me with is exactly what it's disappointing everybody with battery
55:46 life yeah but it didn't need to it just
55:50 did what was the size of the processor 40 nanom yeah it was like ancient chip
55:55 what are you doing um I mean the the the issue though and
56:00 there there could be a hundred reasons why they would have gone with that
56:03 processor there's also 100 reasons not to there's 100 reasons not to but
56:07 there's there there's 100 reasons why they might have had to yeah but the the
56:11 cold hard truth is until we get
56:15 dramatically better batteries the only smart watches that will matter to me
56:20 will be the ones with e in or Mirasol displays I don't want to charge my
56:24 SmartWatch every single day yep I charge this every four days or so that's
56:29 probably fine I would like seven I would like it to be a week some people get a
56:33 week out of the pebble I don't because I'm a heavy user um but the main thing
56:37 for me is when you're at that awkward dinner and you just want to know how
56:41 much longer you have to sit there across from that weird family member who you
56:46 only have to see once a quarter or so and you want to glance at your wrist
56:49 just freaking know what time it is that's important to me it's not a Time
56:54 piece unless it does time well well
56:57 first it's true it's very true um Luke
57:00 pointed out to me a smartwatch that's coming that has a transparent display
57:04 over an analog watch face and this is something if you go back a whole bunch of wos like quite a few I was like they
57:10 need to make an OLED panel that goes on top of a normal freaking watch and can
57:14 just turn on and give you notifications every once in a while so it can completely go off and you can just see
57:18 the normal watch face under it because that's what a lot of people are going to watch are going to want because that is
57:23 going to look super super classy and a lot of people want their high-end
57:27 looking very nice mechanical watches and
57:30 apparently it has happened speaking of wanting watches to look super super
57:35 classy um kind of kind of funny story uh
57:38 there are a lot of people who seem upset that Apple's I watch or whatever they
57:42 end up calling it Apple watch I guess so that Apple's watch is going to be
57:48 expensive it's like yeah how did you not see that
57:54 coming how did you not see that coming watch
57:57 that literally have no justification for
58:00 being expensive are expensive watches are a fashion
58:04 statement fashion statements are expensive yep watch Apple turned the
58:09 phone into a fashion statement in a big way I mean they weren't they weren't the
58:14 pioneer of it I mean Motorola did a great job with the razor but Apple
58:17 turned the smartphone into the ultimate
58:21 phone fashion statement but watches they don't even have to do any work people
58:25 will all already spend a thousand like normal people who work normal jobs will
58:31 spend a th000 2,000 $3,000 on a watch
58:34 that happens I know that technophiles
58:37 who expect every thing that they own to be broken down in terms of the bomb cost
58:43 like the cost of the raw materials that went into it I know that we don't
58:46 necessarily accept that and if you look at me it's not like I'm I'm someone who
58:51 wears a, watch I expect things to be
58:54 practical I expect them to have an ual value and an actual cost associated with
58:58 making them but a lot of the world doesn't work that way no and apple would
59:02 be foolish not to leverage that and that's why I've been saying we need
59:06 those mechanical OLED panel watches because those are going to be crazy
59:09 expensive and that's what a lot of people are going to want to buy I don't
59:12 want one way too expensive but that's what a lot of people are going to want
59:16 I'd like to do a review of one even if we can just get a loner one for a little
59:19 while but yeah speaking of a review uh I
59:22 had a few people questioning my Instagram post earlier today where I
59:28 showed off my new $300 usb3
59:33 cable I bought that thing what well I guess it'll be a
59:39 review it'll be a review um but there's
59:42 a justification for it it's the coolest usb3 cable that has ever existed the
59:48 highest Tech usb3 cable that has ever existed and it is a fiber optic usb3
59:54 cable oh yeah that one in fact it doesn't even adhere to the USB 3.0
59:59 standard n there is no standard for a fiber optic USB 3 cable so the packaging
60:05 is hilarious it says USB 3point
60:10 Optical so it's a 30 m so it's literally
60:14 3.0 get it get it get it so this is a
60:19 100 foot usb3 cable and I actually have
60:22 a plan for something really cool that I'm going to do with it I'll that I'll
60:26 show off to you guys and that I think will make some sense at least to people
60:31 who appreciate minimalistic design so so
60:35 stay tuned for that there is a reason for it I haven't just completely lost my
60:39 Noggin all right uh AMD India do you
60:43 want to do you want to go through this one while I figure out what's going on with my internet connection here sure uh
60:47 so that big announcement that everyone was talking about that was going to happen on September 25th that was like
60:52 super exciting from AMD and like oh my God it's probably going to be a 390 or
60:56 390x nope nope nope they're bringing
61:00 some graphics cards to India um so I
61:03 don't actually know what ones it looks like mainly workstation cards so they're
61:06 bringing a AMD firepro
61:10 w8100 and AMD firepro W 99,100 and gcn
61:15 powered Radeon R9 285 so they are bringing a 285 and then two workstation
61:19 cards so yeah that was that super
61:22 exciting announcement that was going to happen on September the 9100 does have
61:26 16 gigs of RAM that's pretty fraking cool speaking of RAM capacities
61:29 continuing to grow yeah but it's weird when they're blasting a big announcement
61:33 to North Americans and Europeans about like if they if they blasted this in
61:37 India that makes tons of sense yeah because that is a big announcement in
61:41 India I think it was it seems a little unintentional to me it looks a little
61:44 bit like a miscommunication at AMD where someone posted big announcement maybe
61:49 even in India and then it got pushed everywhere yeah some in some the the the
61:52 Press got a hold of the Indian announcement I think some individuals at
61:56 didn't really know what to do or what to say about it felt like they had to say something and uh ended up um they could
62:03 have specifically said it's a big announcement for India because it's
62:07 pretty cool for India right but it's it's it's a very tied
62:12 down announcement which makes sense but it's still a very tied down announcement
62:15 so they could have clarified right I don't think that would have been a
62:19 problem everyone started freaking out and then they could have been like you don't want to downplay it either and
62:23 like make it seem like yeah announcements lame so but it's not lame
62:28 no it is it's just location tied I mean okay okay what they say about the 16 gig
62:32 GPU is that it allows users and I mean this is pretty cool to multitask
62:35 efficiently across six 4K displays that's pretty sick is that not cool that
62:40 is pretty sick six DisplayPort 1.2 I mean the number of
62:44 megapixels the sheer data rate is involved with this it's very cool yeah
62:48 it's just Gamers and sort of the internet in general aren't really going
62:52 to care about it yeah so I think they should have they should have checked
62:55 their checked their announcement a little bit
62:58 it was a little bit overthrown all right DisplayPort will
63:03 work through USB type c that is
63:06 incredibly good news I'm actually pretty excited about that USB type c is looking
63:12 like it's going to be badass I'm just really hoping that connector is solid I
63:17 know it's the only thing I'm worried about I was talking to uh to Ryan Smith
63:21 from an onch we were in the uh the shuttle on the way back to the airport
63:24 together and uh I we were talking about usb type c and and cuz they had an
63:29 article about it they were hands on with it and I was like did you did you see it
63:32 did you touch it he's like no no but I want to what oh so he specifically was
63:37 okay I got it yeah yeah no someone else and one of their other writers so I was
63:43 we were we were just kind of speculating and talking about it a little bit we both agreed that the lightning connector
63:47 is probably about as elegant as it gets for a double-sided connector in terms of
63:52 durability but we both maintain hope
63:55 that USB 3 type-c will be freaking awesome hopefully so just as a recap for
64:00 you guys if you haven't already watched our fastest possible on USB type-c which
64:04 is now outdated because it includes DisplayPort
64:08 connectivity it is validated at up to super speed USB 3.1 so that's 10 gbit
64:13 per second bringing it back within sort of one Leap of
64:18 Thunderbolt it can deliver up to 100 watts of power over a single cable so
64:22 we're talking being able to co charge your laptop over us you can charge your
64:27 laptop run a display off your laptop at the same time it go either direction
64:31 pretty awesome y Bal it can it has alternate modes that support uh the use
64:36 of existing uh HDMI DVI and VGA adapters
64:40 now that DisplayPort can be transmitted over it uh the DisplayPort over USBC
64:44 carries up to 8.1 GB per second per
64:48 Lane this looks so awesome so when using all four lanes of the DisplayPort alt
64:53 mode you could drive a monitor at up to 5K resolution or up to and up to 4K uh
64:59 excuse me so with existing DisplayPort one blah blah blah Etc support up to 4K
65:04 desktop resolutions with 60 frame rates set up to 30 bit color yeah so 4K USB 3
65:10 type-c is a thing freaking awesome that's pretty
65:13 sweet pretty stoked um we are almost out of time and
65:20 we need to do the giveaway and we need to do sponsor spots and we need to do
65:25 build block and we probably need to do some other articles okay well let's do
65:28 our sponsors first huge thanks to Squarespace for sponsoring the W show uh
65:34 yeah they're taking a little while because they're looking for network resources and then grabbing the local
65:38 one that's why the scene switching is taking a while that makes way more sense
65:42 but if you had a Squarespace website it wouldn't need to take a long time to
65:45 load because Squarespace ensures that your website will be functional it will
65:50 be beautiful it will be affordable and it will be scalable we use Squarespace
65:54 for Linus Medi group.com and I don't think we've ever maintained
65:59 it ever no it's actually kind of a
66:02 problem yeah we need to go back and like update some of the it still looks
66:06 beautiful and is still entirely functional but it doesn't have all of our employees there's no head shot it
66:11 doesn't include all of our shows I don't think there's a lot of missing
66:15 information because I never even think about it it just works all the like
66:19 screenshots from our like most bestest videos ever are like the ones we made in
66:24 the first couple months of being a company I know so guys that's what Squarespace
66:28 does it means that you can focus on maintaining your business in other ways
66:33 that don't involve micromanaging your freaking website whether it's a Blog
66:38 whether you have an online business where you sell something that some craft
66:42 that you make or a service whether it's a portfolio promoting uh you know if
66:47 you're a wedding photographer or whatever else Squarespace sites work on
66:51 desktop they work on mobile and they make sure that you put your best foot
66:54 forward they've also got other great tools like their 247 tech support as
66:59 well as their logo creator so instead of you know hiring a graphic design firm
67:03 just to try to get started you can at least create something that looks good
67:07 that you can use temporarily and get on your site and get up and running without
67:11 hassle also if you visit squarespace.com Linus and use offer code Linus you can
67:16 save 10% and uh of course everyone who uses
67:20 Squarespace gets a free trial a free
67:23 twoe trial I actually don't remember
67:27 what uh what Nick said about whether we are giving away a squar space I don't
67:32 have internet okay Nick uh no it's okay
67:35 well if we don't then we'll do two next time we have a Squarespace sponsorship
67:39 but every month we give a Squarespace site away to someone who has signed up
67:44 for a trial so they win their site for a year so that's squarespace's little way
67:49 of uh being cool dudes this is pretty awesome actually thanks to Squarespace
67:53 they've actually been I think our second long sponsor um after audible yeah
67:59 they've been great supporters of if you don't include how long we left Razer at
68:02 the bottom of the stream for yeah no no I don't mean long in terms of time
68:07 period I mean going back the furthest they were one of they were one of our
68:10 first non-tech sponsors yeah yeah um also linda.com a relatively new sponsor
68:15 but actually a fantastic one as well you can get a free trial by going to
68:19 linda.com wow right now and you've used linda.com so yes I have used linda.com
68:24 for quite a while to learn just random stuff uh more specifically targeted
68:29 things if I'm like I need to know this thing about programming so I can do
68:32 something with it I usually go to linda.com for that my mom has used it
68:36 for various things Taran one of our editors has used it to learn how to edit
68:39 which is probably a good thing if he has to edit I wonder if he's using it right
68:43 now while he's not working I don't know I would think so I
68:48 mean his wrist is hurt that doesn't mean your eyes are broken so you can you can
68:51 still learn things on Linda cuz not everything on linda.com is just programming stuff that they have tips
68:56 for digital photography um so so there's
68:59 and they're all taught by experts so there's tons of different things that you can learn on linda.com uh it's plan
69:04 start at 25 bucks a month I don't think there's that much more to say about it
69:08 other than that there's no real commitment guys you can try it for seven
69:12 days for free if you like it if you feel like you're learning something useful
69:16 then keep on going and if you don't like it then you don't have to but we've seen
69:20 here at Linus Media Group alone that for at least two people linda.com has
69:24 provided some foundation for some skills that have turned into real employment
69:29 opportunities which is I think one of the strongest things that we can say
69:33 about any sponsor that we have one thing that I always say about it is if you're
69:37 planning on going to post secondary for programming start working on linda.com
69:41 right now and teach yourself before you go because your grades will be much
69:44 higher you'll find it a lot easier I find a lot of people the first semester
69:47 that they go to university for is kind of a mess because they're getting used
69:50 to no longer possibly being at home uh how School Works in different ways now
69:55 and possibly certain electives that are pretty difficult or weird that you haven't done before so if you can make
69:59 your your core courses easier which will be your programming courses if you're
70:03 getting into programming that's that's invaluable so all right so thanks
70:07 linda.com and Squarespace for sponsoring the W show we appreciate your
70:11 sponsorship I think our viewers appreciate your service and let's move
70:15 on to our next topic then shall we blizzard cancels its nextg MMO Titan
70:19 after 7 years of development can you imagine having enough money as a company
70:24 that you can work on something for seven years and then just go ah it's not
70:27 turning out the way we liked it well valve trashed TF2 TF2 was like almost
70:32 done and then they're like h no and toss the whole thing away and then now they
70:36 have what we have now which everyone kind of seems to love so they probably
70:40 did the right thing and hopefully that's the same story with blizzard hopefully
70:44 they just decided maybe this isn't the right direction after all and kind of
70:48 pitched it or maybe they're just refocusing on wow that wouldn't even be
70:52 too surprising uh world Warcraft is getting a massive graphic upgrade uh
70:56 update with Warlords of dra or and a whole bunch of other stuff is happening
71:00 so could be just I try it again I haven't played since
71:04 vanilla uh you could we're probably
71:07 we're probably going to have to actually yeah seeing as how you did that maybe
71:11 not um we're probably going to have to Benchmark it when it comes out right
71:15 because it'll be the biggest change in performance that that game has ever had
71:18 since release that big it's they've done
71:22 significant updates before but I don't think they've had one nearly this
71:25 interesting it's a pretty big graphical upgrade they have definitely had graphical updates and one thing that
71:29 they've done is they've just included more stuff right so there's more things
71:33 to load in general especially with the new zones that came in with especially
71:36 if you have longer longer draw distances long draw distances uh so they they've
71:40 done a lot with it but I think this is the most in terms of uh actual texture
71:44 files because like the characters are being upgraded a lot someone could
71:47 correct me on that I could be wrong but I believe it is the biggest one they've
71:51 had so far so they um they're they're talking about it actually pretty openly
71:56 for blizzard which is surprising uh but they went back to the drawing board last
72:00 year and now they're basically just saying well we made wow and we figured
72:04 we knew how to make an MMO but here we are we're looking at this and we're not
72:07 finding the fun and if it's not fun then what's the bloody Point basically it's
72:11 not the first time they've cancelled a significant project that had a lot of
72:14 hype around it yeah Starcraft ghost was supposed to be an FPS about ghosts I was
72:20 pretty stoked for that actually different ghost that was one of the most
72:23 games that I was most hyped about and they just ripped it from reality that
72:28 was unfortunate I mean they had all that artwork of carrian and like was going to
72:32 be cool Nova so much for that um all right so we'll do a few rapid fire
72:36 topics before we before we get into we have build blogs and the giveaway to
72:40 yeah I know uh the 12 in MacBook Air is rumored to maybe have a USB type-c port
72:45 that would be very cool very unexpected I would expect Apple to continue to
72:49 support Thunderbolt exclusively mind you with how many of the rumors about the
72:52 iPhone 6 were just completely out in la la
72:56 um I'd be surprised if this one's true Sleeping Dog sequel Triad Wars is going
73:00 to be PC exclusive hopefully not as many bugs as there was in the console Port uh
73:04 LED SLI Bridges have now been released
73:08 so the ones used in the mod 24 rigs that modding competition that we checked out
73:12 and that have been seen before in like NVIDIA showcase builds for quite some
73:17 time the uh here we've got a we've got a shot of them here so those sexy metal
73:23 SLI bridges that match the the cards really well and they're also releasing
73:26 two different spacings for a dual card yes I saw that so they're releasing like
73:32 side byid so especially if you have something like an matx board you might want to have that and they're releasing
73:36 the the like empty space between the Cards on I love it they're only 30 bucks
73:40 for a two-way and uh 40 bucks for a three-way model which isn't that cheap
73:45 but when you consider how much You' just already spent on your graphics cards I
73:49 don't think it's that much of an Adder yeah um yeah fantastic yep uh nintend
73:55 nintend quasi qu Centennial what the
73:59 heck oh okay whatever so they turned 125 on
74:02 Tuesday um for most of Nintendo's life they produced cards toys and other
74:07 random stuff and didn't transition to video games until actually the
74:11 1970s so uh pretty cool way to go Nintendo happy birthday and they've been
74:15 doing a lot of great stuff lately actually they've totally turned around in the last little while uh even looking
74:20 at stuff like their their DLC for Mario Kart that they're coming out with Y
74:23 absolutely fantastic they're going to double the amount of uh tracks that
74:26 there is or no they're they're 150% the current amount so
74:31 adding 50% the amount of tracks whole bunch of more Racers whole bunch of new
74:35 cars and they're they're continuing down that line with DLC and they come out with Smash and all you you know what I
74:39 like about what they did with Mario Kart because there's the usual argument where
74:43 oh well it's DLC so you shouldn't have made us pay for it in the first place it
74:47 should have been in the game they included exactly as many tracks y as
74:52 they normally do in a Mario Kart game so that PL can just and that's a philosophy
74:56 that's carrying into other games as well and they've publicly said that they're not going to change that their golf game
75:01 I've never played any of their golf games but apparently they have a minimum for the amount of courses and holes that
75:06 will be in a golf game so every golf game Nintendo has released has had a
75:10 minimum amount and in the new one I think you get 100% more or uh sorry I
75:16 think it will be 50% more or 100% more I don't remember how many but there's a
75:20 massive amount of holes and uh courses in the golf game again not really into
75:24 that but people were freaking out about the DLC for that so I read up on it a
75:27 little bit pretty interesting I'm down
75:31 with DLC which is an actual expansion
75:35 yeah I DLC because that's what DLC should be DLC is not new you know War
75:40 Warcraft 2 beyond the dark portal would
75:43 have been DLC if it was possible if it was possible and and I'm totally okay
75:48 with expansion packs I love expansion Age of Empires had DLC Frozen Throne was
75:52 an amazing expansion pack for Warcraft 3 that's right super good and if and if
75:57 DLC legitimately Builds on what was already a freestanding game adds more
76:01 units adds new campaign tweaks uh actually I'm not sure if I how I feel
76:06 about tweaking balance unless you're adding new units but but just if it
76:10 enhances the game and gives War gives
76:13 what originally had its own you know I feel like I got my money's worth out of
76:18 it gives it a whole another set of that then I feel pretty good about it I'm
76:22 okay with that if it's like horse armor then
76:25 yeah I don't know well I they okay you
76:28 could say that and they took a lot of flack for that but hasn't the entire
76:33 DLC industry turned into horse armor
76:36 yeah and that's stupid but that's kind of our fault because people buy it I
76:39 don't buy it but people buy it just stop and then it'll go away
76:45 because it won't be worth creating art assets that people don't buy all
76:50 right it's time to do the million
76:55 subscriber giveaway I don't even know if I can help you cuz my computer doesn't
76:59 seem to be really getting internet oh hey it's working I'm on the uh I'm on
77:03 the other rouer I can help you all right
77:06 so we doing that random.org or how is this how's this happening y we're going
77:10 to random.org this shiz so basically we
77:13 are drawing the winners for the custombuilt gaming PC which I haven't
77:17 gotten around to building yet but I will the custombuilt gaming PC isn't it
77:20 mostly built already no I haven't even touched it the video card on your bench
77:25 I thought that was the razor one no oh no that's been torn apart Oh I thought
77:29 you just like rebuilding that up and then we can't ship that case it's like got scratches and crap on it oh yeah
77:34 it's yeah it's an engineering sample yeah yeah okay uh no no well we'll find
77:37 a case we'll find a good one we have a garage full of cases um so okay so
77:42 custom gaming rig Microsoft Surface Pro 3 the one that I bought to do my review
77:47 and because I thought I might end up using it but I didn't really like it that much but you might and whatever our
77:53 last what was our last prize I don't even remember ah yes we're redrawing the
77:56 G550 J from Highlander because the
78:00 person who won it never responded so the third time I think bummer for them all
78:05 right so we're going to the thread we're going to draw it live uh 1 million
78:09 subscribers thank you all oh hold on a second I gotta sign
78:16 out back to here signing
78:19 out scrolling down contrl F searching
78:23 wow clicking you are the most helpful person ever today viewing random Forum
78:28 thread you're back to being dead to taking you back off my
78:34 shirt all right so the first two are
78:38 going to go to the first two people who are randomly drawn the third one we are
78:43 going to keep drawing until we find someone who is a positively contributing
78:48 member to The Forum how are we judging that uh we're just going to kind of look
78:53 at them and if we know who they are then they win this might be awkward I we'll
78:58 figure it out maybe let's not say positively contributing let's just say
79:01 contributing okay an actual member of the of the lonus tech chps Forum that
79:06 participates participatory member of The Forum why don't we say just for the sake
79:11 of making life a little bit easier for ourselves why don't we say kind of um
79:16 post count is sketchy no no I don't want to use post count but post count doesn't
79:19 matter at all but we'll we'll we'll we'll kind of do a quick glance at their
79:23 last few posts and make sure that they're actually trying to participate
79:28 okay and I'm not going to be looking at anyone who started participating right
79:32 when the 1 million subscriber giveaway started because I said that that was
79:36 going to be a requirement and that I wanted it to be for people who have
79:39 already participated without me offering them uh a laptop yeah yeah okay all
79:44 right so let's do the first draw random.org
79:48 1,119 oh my goodness Min one
79:53 1,119 generous great so now we are going
79:56 to go to page 742 in the thread click on
80:00 that which this click on page one you can do that yeah and then oh no way that
80:06 is amazing all right did you click go I mostly clicked
80:11 go okay I think it I think it worked all right this is kind of a big thread I
80:16 think everyone's looking at the Forum yeah and everyone's probably looking at
80:20 the Forum right now because that will somehow affect their chances of winning
80:24 I guess or something they will be there with
80:29 us oh derped refresh it yeah oh okay what
80:36 page was it 742 let's make sure I got that right yes
80:43 whoops yes I don't have a very good memory especially when I'm sleep
80:48 deprived did you already have the thread loaded up yeah or did you load this
80:53 okay everyone went to the Forum The
80:57 Forum isn't hosted on Squarespace yeah I know right okay so I really wanted to do
81:02 this live but it looks like that is not going to happen I'm sorry we do like to
81:07 do these draws live just so that you guys can can trust us that we we can do
81:12 a recorded video of it while the camera doesn't stop and we draw it there
81:17 because that would be way too much production time where are we even going to release that I guess we can put it
81:22 unlisted on the channel and like link it in the wow do here or something it would
81:25 be a fun video oh I don't want to do a full video for
81:29 that okay we'll we'll talk about it offline but um okay so in that case are
81:34 you even able to do build logs then yes I sent you an email all right sweet like
81:38 right when the show started so it should be pretty recent do your
81:42 LMG thing there we go all right here we
81:46 go feature build log there's four things but you only need really two of them but
81:49 if you download it you because you probably won't be able to view it in your browser you can try but I expect no
81:56 so there was one choice by the community and there's one choice by the staff I
81:59 don't know why that happened cuz I told them considering there were so many
82:03 entries there should be like way more than one from each but apparently
82:06 there's one from each so we're doing one from each for now because I didn't
82:10 notice until today I probably should have checked so that was my
82:14 fault at least you owned your mistake yep all right so uh slideshow so the
82:20 first one is by Sage C and this is Project N64 I believe this one was the
82:24 one chosen by the mods why is that the
82:28 slideshow what the heck is this
82:31 what y PowerPoint why you
82:36 do why you why you do this power that is
82:39 super derp that better not be the was it like review slideshow from beginning it
82:44 should be what are you doing display settings
82:49 maybe here we go what oh that's like presenter View
82:55 okay I get
82:58 it
83:04 um it's not it's not a
83:08 what oh hold on a second uh wait where did where did we
83:13 get that hold on one sec we're learning how to use PowerPoint we'll be back
83:16 except we're not going anywhere no I think they had the right one already no
83:21 they don't it should it shouldn't be anre yeah it's a duplicated screen is it
83:26 is it Frozen no I don't think so try to open
83:30 your start menu maybe Frozen not
83:37 frozen oh it's an extended display why
83:41 is it an extended display why is it extended we're supposed to do duplicate
83:45 displays what is it doing I don't know what is it high this is really weird so
83:49 we're looking at a presenter view that is
83:53 not oh oh my goodness all right so let's
83:57 just let's just try previewing it from here this is why we don't make videos
84:01 about Microsoft software well what were they thinking about PowerPoint I guess
84:06 who does make videos about someone should make a video about PowerPoint cuz this is ridiculous boring video they
84:10 should present the video from PowerPoint they should just record their screen and
84:13 have a PowerPoint presentation running I'm sure that I'm sure that people who
84:17 use PowerPoint all the time technically I use PowerPoint all the time I just
84:22 realized that but I don't use this version so that's my defense I'm sure someone's
84:27 laughing at us and I'm sure that they're right and we're we're idiots or in the
84:30 version that I use it's like super duper
84:34 easy okay yay all right l a screen nope
84:40 what are we looking at I have no idea not a
84:47 clue what is it's not showing your screen though because you just had a
84:50 photo viewer up yeah it's not updating
84:53 or something oh that's why I said open your start menu like it's not updating
84:57 properly there's something else going on because it's yeah when you open your
85:02 start menu it should have shown the start menu on yeah it's not working oh
85:06 okay well that explains a lot now then so let's see if uh did you try
85:11 unplugging it and plugging it back in no no not yet um let's just see if this
85:18 does a thing a well okay okay okay new
85:22 plan new plan don't worry you guys we're
85:25 going to find a way to do this oh there you go that'll work I want to do build
85:29 Guides of the week dang it month oh hold on a
85:33 second oh oh oh okay okay we heard back
85:38 from NVIDIA just in time well actually
85:41 right around the time we were talking about it on the show called it that's
85:44 all I have to say it is not NVIDIA's intention to restrict support to GeForce
85:49 PCS the reality is that the quickest path to releasing PC support was to
85:54 release it through our existing GeForce experience software we are working on a
85:58 plan to support non- GeForce PCS but currently cannot commit to a time frame
86:02 for support all right Faith restored it
86:06 made no sense like I didn't want to like go over it too hard but it made no sense
86:11 there nothing in but you were saying that there's something in in GeForce
86:14 experience that it would have to be tied to well no what I what I was saying was
86:17 that maybe like I could understand why GeForce experience might be
86:22 easier we can go back and you can watch the archive if you want I never said
86:26 that I said that the touchpad might not work or something yeah but that makes no
86:30 sense why not who knows what ises GeForce experience do that would have
86:34 anything to do with that who knows the point is that as a controller I couldn't
86:38 see any reason why it wouldn't work so anyway the point is completely valid
86:42 none of that happened they just rolled it out through gForce experience because
86:46 of convenient way for them to roll driver updates out to people and it was
86:49 really painless to get it working I just plugged it in and it worked which is nice all right yay faith St NVIDIA good
86:55 job you guys um let's go ahead and go
86:59 back to Luke's email here which hopefully I can find I can't even see it
87:04 I get too many emails top one top one top one top one
87:08 there we go build LGS um blue ones why are there four BL
87:15 okay my brain is exploding all right let's why it
87:19 download oh did you click both of them so what we'll have to do screen region
87:24 capture is yeah we'll just do screen region capture and then we will oh I
87:31 don't know let's pick this scene or something oh add screen
87:37 region all right stream seion for a little bit here
87:41 guys and slideshow from beginning so now
87:46 we're just hoping that it's working yeah cool it's probably working project and
87:51 okay do you want to give the background for this uh project N64 well let's just
87:56 got that so far by Sage C let's go with them let's go with them so this is all
87:59 the included components um which is not super important in my opinion you can
88:04 check out all the included components and all that kind of stuff if you go are you hating on his inclusion of a broken
88:08 N64 no I think that's pretty cool because that was my actually this this
88:12 is an interesting discussion that was my favorite part about listing the system
88:15 specs of my mineral oil PC was when they asked for case right I was always like
88:20 fish tank yeah so that's yeah yeah I
88:24 know that's pretty cool but the the point of the build doogs isn't necessarily like oh he used AMD instead
88:29 of Intel like that's not really the point so I don't really want to spend
88:32 too much time on this this is the point
88:36 the awesomeness that is this computer so yeah he shows in the
88:41 beginning where he just kind of tore apart the N64 and started removing
88:45 things then putting in his motherboard and whatnot and then if we move on
88:48 forward you can see the end shots which
88:52 are amazing wow that's
88:56 ridiculous that's fantastic pretty freaking cool I've seen
89:01 some like old console buildup computer
89:04 into it builds but this one is kind of
89:07 incredible even having seen those in the past that's really clean yeah it is
89:11 extremely clean usually you see some sort of breakage and this is extremely
89:16 well done all right super awesome so I
89:19 believe that one was voted for by he
89:22 stole my idea yeah no um I believe that one was voted for by the mods someone in
89:27 the chat was like B he stole my idea like yeah it's also been done before
89:32 yeah the idea of building a computer in a in an old console is not really new no
89:36 it's awesome and you did an extremely good job but it it probably wasn't your
89:40 original idea and it yeah more people will do it in the future all right sorry
89:44 I'm just trying to be careful not to leak anyone's personal information here
89:48 so would be happy about that was it guest here we go all right so we've got
89:53 our second one here here so just in case you didn't know water cooled PC desk mod
89:57 with car sound system this one's got some pretty nice
90:02 specs two 780 Ti and SLI lots of storage
90:06 holy crap seven terabytes of storage plus the
90:12 ssds although I don't think he te no he didn't make it into the 10 tab thread
90:17 unfortunately close enough and from what I've heard you're allowed to be a
90:22 heathen and posting the 10 tab thread evening if you don't have 10 tabes oh
90:26 just to like hang out with everyone if you want I guess I should I should post
90:29 our uh our server when we get our new uh Seagate drives we're getting some super
90:34 high cap Seagate drives for our for our server that are going to make us maybe
90:38 near the top of the 10 tab plus nice will we not be in red anymore because
90:42 that would be nice I'm sorry we've been riding the red line for like months uh
90:46 it's been relatively okay lately I expanded it to 21 terabytes and we
90:50 offloaded four terabytes the other day there you go nice all right wow so it
90:55 looks extremely similar to the NVIDIA
90:58 desk that we went to go see yeah that's true not exactly the same at all Y no
91:02 but the uh the horizontal reservoirs the
91:05 NVIDIA one had two completely separate pcs one on either side which which kind
91:09 of nuts didn't make a ton of sense to me but
91:13 whatever they're NVIDIA they do what they want I guess dual power supplies in
91:17 there pretty sick looking system oh yeah that is super cool gets a
91:23 lot more more sick than we had originally thought I'm face roll love
91:28 all this got a couple Optical drives in because you can like in dash console
91:36 stuff in here because you can fan controller because you can pretty much
91:40 everything about this build is because
91:43 you can sick build very very
91:48 cool so awesome I think that pretty much
91:51 wraps it up for the W show you guys thank you than you for tuning in all
91:56 over 5,000 of you I think we had around 5500 Peak you guys are fantastic we
92:01 appreciate it sorry about the problems at the beginning um we're sorry one
92:05 thing to note is that our folding team and our boink teams are super awesome so
92:09 you should go join them if you want to contribute your compute power to a good
92:12 cause uh they're both doing extremely well I don't have numbers off hand here
92:15 which wher's probably going to stab me for but join your boink team did you you
92:20 haven't no I haven't there's a few mods that are on it and I'm on it
92:24 I'm doing pretty good but I'm not at the top I think my dad might still be at the
92:28 top or someone's finally passed him that's awesome I'm not sure we got to
92:31 get him some more Hardware so he can stay there which we will be doing soon his dad helped us with the whole room
92:35 liquid cooling thing so yeah and yes we will make videos about it and no they're
92:40 not ready yet they're not even probably not coming soon yeah Ed's on vacation
92:45 for at least another week and then when he gets back if he has time then he will
92:50 start working on that project start he hasn't started yet not really like he's
92:54 done some but not it's not and there's quite a bit of footage to go through
92:58 people are yelling about the giveaway again I think we already tried um I
93:02 don't think the Forum is back up but I could
93:06 check looks like no looks like not I'm
93:09 sorry guys we'll have to we'll have to post the giveaway shortly yep all right
93:14 thanks again for watching and as always don't forget to subscribe Li's TPS yay
93:18 that was a different ending to the van show that we don't normally do uh yes it
93:23 was I I couldn't think of anything
93:26 else Forum does seem to be back oh no there it goes never
93:31 mind cuz the thing is it came back up and then everyone was like give away and
93:35 went back and then it went back down right it's like
93:39 oh oh there's no there's no audio for the outro and also I didn't even have
93:43 the thing on well yay we carried a couch and went through a swamp it happened
93:47 you'll have to trust us
