0:08 so it's time for another Voyage of Discovery edition of my lonus tech tips
0:12 video blog and this is a pretty interesting one I unboxed this recently
0:16 this is an 8 gig dim from Patriot and as
0:19 I mentioned when they uh sent me the
0:23 this 8 gig dim they actually sent me six of them and I told them that my
0:27 intention was to test it out
0:31 in ah here we are a 48 gig configuration
0:35 so my test bench here I'm just going to go ahead and boot this up let's find out if this is going to work now this is an
0:39 old BIOS on this board this is a G1 assassin xlx motherboard I'm running a
0:45 990x extreme Edition CPU I'm running
0:48 dual GTX 590s in this particular config
0:52 and I've got an SSD I've got a 1250 W
0:55 power supply this is a pretty badass machine I haven't done any overclocking
0:59 or anything cuz I want to find out if it's going to work we posted now bear in
1:03 mind this is an old BIOS so this is actually a launch BIOS on this board I
1:07 have never updated the BIOS on it so I don't know if it's going to properly
1:12 recognize the 48 gab of memory that it
1:17 has installed in it so let's uh just bear with me guys here while the system
1:21 boots up let's see if there's anything else I can say about it well this memory
1:25 is 1333 memory it runs at timings of
1:28 99924 4 it's designed for the Intel 6
1:32 series platform so really Patriots intention here in terms of what they've
1:36 tested is for you to be running this in
1:40 uh at most a 4X 8 gig configuration for
1:44 32 gigs looks like we're in Windows let's see if it's all recognized here
1:48 you guys I haven't done any configuration at the BIOS level so I
1:52 don't know what timings it's going to be running at it might auto check this out
1:55 physical memory uh no AMD Graphics installed that's fine physical memory
2:00 49 gigs so this is so much memory it's
2:03 actually like gone over the 48 and some OD Mark it's 49 gigs of memory and uh
2:10 let's see what kind of let's see what kind of timings we're running at here
2:15 let's open up Prime 95 here's what I'm going to do you guys I'm going to run
2:18 Prime 95 over the weekend using 48 gigs
2:21 of memory and I'm going to see if it's still running when I get back so this is
2:26 running at 1333 99924 just like that without any
2:30 configuration whatsoever and I will post a video for you guys when I'm back on
2:35 back in the office on Monday letting you know if this passed a weekend stability
2:40 test running with 48 gigs of RAM in an
2:44 x58 system pretty cool
