0:00 so we've only just peeled our protective plastic off the new GTX 1080s and
0:04 revealed the fact that we had the baddest graphics card on the Block when
0:08 bam NVIDIA hits us upside the freaking head with its new flagship the Pascal
0:13 based Titan X like a salmon that suddenly flies out of the river and just
0:17 smacks you right in the face indeed the
0:21 timing of the release was so soon after that 1080 that so many of us were
0:25 surprised but we were able to get our hands on one just before it could swim
0:30 away so let's put it through its paces and see just what kind of a beast we're
0:34 dealing
0:44 with Intel skull Canyon Nook features a
0:47 sixth generation core i7 processor and Thunderbolt 3 learn more at the link in
0:52 the video description so the tit NP is loaded with awesome new features
0:55 including USB 2.0 support the ability to burn things onto a CD and full Y2K
1:01 compliance wait what okay well not really but many people have decided to
1:06 call the new Titan X the XP with P standing for Pascal to distinguish it
1:11 from the older Titan X which was based on the Maxwell architecture I'm not
1:16 exactly sure why NVIDIA recycled the name maybe they decided that the letter
1:21 X was just too good of a hype train for them to get off of I mean I understand
1:25 that that's not the only similarity to the Maxwell Titan X as the two cards
1:30 look quite alike with their black cooler shroud however the Titan XP does have a
1:35 bit of an updated aesthetic carrying over the angular look from the rest of
1:39 the GeForce 10 series as well as a smoother plastic finish and the full
1:43 titan X name proudly displayed on the
1:46 left side you also get a metal finish on both the heat sink fins and the center
1:52 of the blower style fan instead of black
1:55 as well as a back plate which was absent on the original overall I think the card
2:00 has a slightly more premium look than its predecessor but of course that's a
2:04 matter of taste for connectivity you get one HDMI 2.0b port one dual link dvii
2:11 three DisplayPort 1.4 connectors meaning you can output an 8K 60 HZ
2:17 signal if you've got something like a multi 4K setup then there's also an SLI
2:22 connector which supports the new high bandwidth s Bridges you'll need one 8
2:27 Pin and one six pin power connector to power said Titan XP as well but let's
2:33 talk about the heart of this monster the gp102 GPU which continues with the
2:38 GeForce 10 theme of lower numbered gpus
2:41 being more powerful although the Titan X's GP 102 runs at a slightly lower
2:47 boost clock than a 1080 it makes up for this with a whopping 3584 Cuda course
2:53 over a th000 more than the 1080 perhaps
2:57 a little surprisingly this still isn't even the final form for the gp102 as the
3:02 Titan XP has some of the GP 102's Cuda
3:05 cor disabled you'll need to pick up the new Quadro
3:09 p6000 if you want the full fat gp102
3:13 experience but of course that isn't going to matter much unless you're doing
3:16 something like rendering the sequel to James Cameron's Avatar as the Titan XP
3:22 is an insanely powerful card in its own
3:25 right like the Maxwell Titan X you get 12 GB of vram but this is the faster
3:31 gddr5x with a bandwidth of 480 GB per
3:35 second we still don't have hbm2 but this vram configuration makes this card
3:40 firmly aimed at GPU Computing more specifically NVIDIA is marketing the
3:45 Titan XP as a deep learning card in case
3:49 you're unaware deep learning is somewhat of a recent buzzword for using
3:54 artificial neural networks to solve complex problems using lots of virtual
3:59 nodes that perform calculations in layers Loosely modeled on how our brains
4:04 work kind of sort of Highly parallelized chips like the gp102 that contain tons
4:10 of compute cores are quite good for this type of work which has applications and
4:15 everything from language and facial recognition to the life sciences to
4:20 helping driverless cars learn how to deal with obstacles and Hazards on the
4:24 road which NVIDIA perhaps not coincidentally also are working on now I
4:30 know most of you aren't developing bioinformatics algorithms at home so
4:35 let's talk about game performance instead the Titan XP Beats out the GTX
4:40 1080 by about 10 FPS or even more in
4:44 every game that we tested firmly establishing it as the new heavyweight
4:48 champ but with a couple of caveats this
4:52 still can't get always 60fps in 4k in
4:56 every scenario with the settings completely cranked so if you've got a
4:59 bunch of money burning a hole in your pocket for no apparent reason and you
5:03 want to push that many frames to your 4k monitor at those unnecessary settings
5:08 you might be better off with two GTX 1080s and SLI especially as $1,200 us
5:14 the Titan xp's new retail price is exactly about twice the price of a 1080
5:20 now that's going to be give or take depending on your region but still it
5:23 isn't the best bang for the buck card in terms of frame rates and I don't think
5:27 anyone expected it to be with the name of Titan that isn't to say that the Titan XP
5:31 doesn't have its place if you're more of a prosumer who does GP GPU stuff at home
5:37 or you want the extra vram for your ridiculous monitor setup that would
5:41 require that the Titan XP is definitely worth a look but if you just want extra
5:46 gaming performance you'll almost certainly be better off waiting for the
5:50 potential GTX 1080 TI in the previous
5:54 generation the 980ti offered frame rates
5:57 very close to the original Titan X for a
6:00 much lower price so if NVIDIA does roll out a 1080 TI somewhat soon it will
6:06 likely be the green team's top-end card
6:09 of choice for nearly all PC Gamers that want to spend a whack ton of money but
6:14 if you have the money in your budget the Titan XP would be an incredible addition
6:18 to Your Arsenal and would look even more impressive in your battle station than
6:23 that Bliss wallpaper that came with Windows XP if you like this video like
6:28 it and get subs subscribed and if you dislike it stomp the everliving crap out
6:33 of the dislike button just like repeatedly press it a lot until you get
6:37 really tired and then I think your point will probably get across by then if you
6:42 want to buy some stuff that you saw in this video go to Amazon and do that if
6:46 you want to get a shirt you can also click a link in the video description down below like the Amazon one that is
6:51 down there somewhere and you can buy one of those if you want to talk about
6:54 things you can go on the Forum and dock your heart away instead of clicking the
6:58 dislike button for like hours you could ratat Tata Tata about your feelings as
7:02 well also if you want to see another video check out this one it's our GTX
7:05 1080 review a card that is probably much more value than the GTX or the Titan X
7:12 even though it's still really expensive so if you just got to spend a bunch of
7:17 money you can pick one of these
