0:07 all right last one guys this is the Arctic hobby land Rider 507 this is an
0:12 excavator it is ready to run it has all
0:15 kinds of different cool features but the first feature we're going to show you is
0:20 how the Box opens because
0:24 that is what we do on this channel
0:30 so I've been asked a number of times why am I unboxing fire trucks and tanks and
0:35 excavators and the answer is because Arctic hobby is related to Arctic
0:40 cooling which is a company that focuses
0:43 on PC hardware and has a partnership with NC where I work and ncx sells these
0:53 and I think they're bous as well so that
0:56 those are all the reasons I think that should be fairly uh self-explanatory at
1:01 this point I can't figure out how to get that uh controller out well we'll figure
1:05 it out after okay here we go so we've got included batteries both 9vt and
1:11 battery pack uh we've got a charged battery pack ready to go already down on
1:15 the floor over there so you can get um there's an Arctic charging station and
1:20 you can use that to charge the batteries um comes with the cable for that which
1:24 is somewhere and then you can also get the uh the other charger so that's the
1:29 one that we have which is just a wall wart and plugs into the wall okay we've
1:34 also got an antenna for the remote so I'm going to go ahead and now I'm going
1:38 to go ahead and not do anything because it's stuck and then finally we have one
1:43 of those little straws for the antenna that goes onto the excavator itself to
1:47 hold it up so that we get better
1:50 reception so this is all pretty much your standard fair not a bad idea for a
1:55 Christmas gift if there's uh you know someone you know who you don't like very
2:00 much and their kids around the age that they would enjoy a fire engine or a tank
2:03 or an excavator and you want to you want to give their parents something really
2:07 noisy and obnoxious here's all the different ways that the ARM is able to
2:12 be actuated not actually sure if I used that word correctly but I don't really
2:17 care it's very late I'm very tired and I
2:20 would like to go home but here I am in the tech tips room you know how it
2:25 is okay so let's pull this guy out and
2:28 see what we've got
2:32 here I mean we've got an excavator I know that much but let's see exactly
2:39 what we've got here how does this ah there this comes out that'll
2:46 help this this one is secured quite
2:51 differently from the other two so that
2:54 was what I needed to do to get it
2:58 out hopefully I'm not breaking it too badly here there we go we have our
3:02 excavator so why don't I let uh slick
3:06 who thinks it's hilarious when I break things apparently why don't I let slick
3:10 go ahead and take a closer look at the land Rider here while I go ahead and
3:16 start getting uh start getting it set up
3:20 and take the uh controller out and all that kind of good stuff let's get this
3:24 off so this is our antenna so in order to get this bad boy set up we're going
3:28 to have to go ahead and and uh hold on
3:31 there we go run this through the little straw
3:35 thingamajiggy you don't have to look closely at what I'm doing over here
3:38 that's fine just um show them the straw when it's done so you feed that through
3:42 there this thing actually looks pretty good actually all of these I'm surprised
3:47 given the price point and given the lack of context that I have for toys that are
3:52 available to kids these days and all that I mean you could not buy something
3:56 like this for hundred bucks when I was a kid so or like you could probably get
4:00 something like this but it certainly wouldn't be remote control like it would
4:04 look kind of like this I mean one thing that the that the toys that sort of we
4:08 had were were better for was the overall
4:12 construction quality like they tended to be made of of metal rather than being
4:17 made of plastic um although in terms of durability I'd say all these land Rider
4:22 devices are not bad at all because they're fairly solidly built although
4:26 what I haven't tried is you know doing extent Ive uh you know crash testing
4:32 with them or anything like that so it's hard to say how they're going to hold
4:36 out in the long term and I have no idea how you are
4:42 expected to remove this oh it's another
4:46 removable piece look at that okay there we go yeah there we go so I got to
4:50 remove that screw which means I'm going to have to go off camera give me a sec and I'm going to get this all assembled
4:55 here and we are going to test out this land Rider 507
5:00 like crazy Tech tip style okay guys so I'm just going to
5:05 take a closer look cuz I haven't even checked out the land Rider 507 much
5:08 myself yet so we've got rubber Treads this is something we've come to expect
5:12 from Arctic hobby products we've also got some pretty cool compensation going
5:17 on here you see that Flex there so it should be able to go over things fairly
5:22 easily uh what else we got here we got little sort of rubber hosing things
5:28 running around we've got sort of realistic looking Hydraulics with shiny
5:32 chromed silver pieces uh that's comes
5:36 off and then goes back on cool okay look at that look at that driver's seat it's
5:40 too bad that oh wait hold on yeah it's
5:43 too bad the door doesn't open otherwise you could totally put like a little action figure dude in there that'd be
5:48 kind of neat like a little Lego guy or something okay we got like a light here
5:53 I wonder if that light actually turns on I wouldn't be that surprised at this
5:56 point because so much of their stuff is uh like has light and sirens and whatnot
6:01 so here's the bucket so you can see here check this out so that's how the
6:04 hydraulics look when they work pretty good pretty good all right
6:09 let's uh let's go ahead and get started I'll show you guys the control up close
6:12 first Okay so we've got your left tread front and back your uh right tread
6:17 forward and backwards and then the bucket goes left and right up and down
6:21 and up and down in the various different places so let's try this out first thing
6:24 we're going to do is uh lift the lift the bucket up
6:30 hey look how fast that goes whoa there
6:34 we go okay let's try the other
6:40 one all right okay so let's try moving
6:44 this bad boy forward a little bit okay and then let's
6:50 go down down
6:55 okay huh I wonder what kind of weight it can
6:59 handle like here not much was the answer okay so you
7:05 can swing it around and swing it around the other way
7:09 oh oh check this out though guys I yep I was right so when you're doing
7:14 something this light does turn on oops sorry I'll give you better there you go
7:20 so you can see what you're doing in the dark now what kind of speed can we
7:24 expect out of the uh the land Rider 507 here let's let's uh move it around on
7:29 the tech tips floor
7:38 here there's that off-roading that I was
7:41 talking about there before we can spin in
7:44 place whack the Tex's whiteboard
7:48 again bam and then they all like here we
7:51 come slowly so it's I don't think it's
7:54 as fast as the fire track or the tank but it's got some you know it's got some
7:58 go to it it's him
8:26 go not a bad gift for kids or child like
8:30 adults although you could confuse someone by buying this for them and
8:34 putting it this way before you give it to them oh no look at that okay so oh
8:39 that's a little bit disappointing so you got to bring it all the way back around
8:43 in order to turn it the other way cuz I was going to say you could put it right
8:46 backwards and then people be all like oh yeah I think I'm going to go forward and
8:52 then the uh the thing would actually go backwards but see now you can see it
8:55 does go the correct
8:58 direction
9:03 wo look at this guy look at him go
9:49 okay I think we're done
