well I've got a GTX 480 on my test bench here with a core i7 975 extreme Edition
0:06
EVGA classified some uh highspeed
0:09
mushkin memory I got the ocz vertex Le
0:13
200 gig SSD so this is a pretty uh pretty cool system anyway um I'm just
0:19
installing crisis Warhead right now and I've also just gotten evga's Precision
0:24
Tool installed and I've had quite a few people ask me about the acoustics of the
0:30
um of the GTX 480 okay so here we go I'm going to set
0:34
the fan speed to 100% now I want to give
0:38
you some idea of what it's like when you're running a game and when you're
0:41
not running a game but this is just to show you what it will sound like when
0:45
it's running at 100% so the fan speed is 45 until I hit apply 45% and the GPU
0:51
temperature is 40° at idle now I'm going to go ahead and click apply over there
0:57
and remember this system has an optical drive running full boore in the
1:00
background so I'm going to get close to that so you can hear the noise
1:05
level and that's most of what you're hearing right now now just also for
1:09
context I'm going to go ahead and turn the Intel stock cooler onto performance
1:18
mode okay so that's what that sounds like it doesn't make much of a
1:21
difference so here we go I'm going to kick the uh GTX 480 here into high
1:28
gear yeah yeah that's pretty loud now
1:32
I'm not sure that it'll actually run at
1:36
that speed while you're gaming but like
1:39
I can feel the air blowing out the back of the card here it's um it's pretty
1:45
incredible anyway so uh there you
1:48
go here I'll turn it back down to 45
1:52
before uh before I sto filming here and it won't actually the EVGA Precision
1:56
Tool is funny it even if you set the fans speed not to Auto so
2:02
there we're back to 45 even if you set
2:05
the fan speed not to Auto okay so you take Auto off and you try and turn it
2:09
down it won't let you turn it down any lower than 34 I believe yeah 34 is the
2:16
lowest you can go and when you're at 34 wow you can see the GPU temperature went
2:20
down 3° just from having it 100% for a little while now it's creeping its way
2:24
back up but yeah here's what it sounds like at 34 so thank you for checking out
