0:00 I didn't expect Aus to change much from the g750 that we reviewed way back when
0:05 dinosaurs roamed the earth I mean okay it was only 6 months ago but in the tech
0:08 world that's like an eternity because frankly the powerful brick-like desktop
0:14 replacement gaming machine Paradigm is fairly mature at this point but the g751
0:20 is kind of like the Cat in the Hat came back same animal some new tricks watch
0:25 on to learn more oh and make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss any of our

0:50 first up the Core specs get a shot in the ARM with the top tier models
0:54 available with the core i7 4860 HQ which
0:58 on paper doesn't look that much faster but seems to Turbo better than the older
1:01 4710 HQ and GTX 970m and 980m graphics
1:06 cards to replace the older 870m and 88m
1:10 with the same 5% over clock available through isusa GPU tweak utility thanks
1:15 to some non-standard power delivery componentry for the GPU which leads us
1:19 into the physical tour the overall size shape and weight didn't really get
1:24 altered so yeah I still really wouldn't want to carry its 4.8 kg bulk around
1:28 with me all day at school or anything but the finishing touches got some nice
1:33 little upgrades on our much better IMO
1:37 compared to its predecessor instead of a plain black back we get a nice metal
1:41 shield around the assus logo and sweet red accents on the rear vent covers that
1:46 hide an otherwise very similar dual fan cooling system which is a good thing by
1:51 the way because it's quiet underload near silent at idle and the entire
1:55 outside of the notebook stays super cool to boot on the bottom we find vents a
2:00 subwoofer and a doorway to another
2:03 dimension no just kidding it's a 2 and 1
2:06 half in hard drive bay and a PCI m.2
2:09 slot that can be removed if you wanted to add another 2 and 1 half in drive for
2:12 a raid or something not bad storage options but I feel like ASUS could have
2:16 done better with a little bit more effort here moving back up to the I/O on
2:21 the right side we got a standard Jack for the 230 W brick of a power supply
2:25 that feeds the 6,000 mAh battery
2:28 Ethernet with a say game first packet prioritization and bandwidth control
2:33 HDMI 1.4 Thunderbolt this is a great
2:36 feature for a creative Pro who wants to use this as a mobile workstation by the
2:39 way USB 3 and audio then on the left we
2:43 get USB 3 a Blu-ray Drive and an SD card reader well hold on a second there lonus
2:48 why would we want a Blu-ray drive on a gaming laptop do you expect me to watch
2:51 my movies on a groy TN panel no I don't
2:55 and neither does a seus apparently the 17.3 in matte finish screen is where the
2:59 the g750 series got upgraded in its
3:03 biggest most significant way other than the GPU moving to the
3:09 g751 the g751 Now features a 1080p IPS
3:14 panel that looks just great very even
3:17 backlight great viewing angles just fantastic no overly blurry motion
3:23 nothing like that yay which leads us to
3:27 the keyboard which still has correct laid out arrow keys and nice long travel
3:32 distances on the keys for a laptop but has actually changed a lot in other ways
3:36 some good stuff and some not so good stuff first The Good the white LED
3:41 backlight is now Rog red the space bar
3:44 is wider on the left now for a more relaxed WD posture speaking of WD the W
3:50 key now has a little tactile bump on it so you can find it without looking and
3:55 now for the bad stuff the number lock key has been replaced by an ASUS
4:00 gaming center launcher key that opens up a mostly useless Rog Metro UI thing I
4:08 don't mind the inclusion of the app because it does at least let you see
4:11 some system info and configure a couple different gaming profiles with different
4:15 settings for LCD appearance audio EQ and GPU overclocking and other than McAfee
4:20 and wild tangent games and some CyberLink slideshow maker thing the
4:24 system doesn't come with much bloatware but it didn't need a dedicated key and
4:30 it definitely didn't need to go where the number lock key should go and on top
4:35 of that ASUS seems to already know that we don't need some random game launcher
4:38 because they went and included a dedicated steam button that launches Big
4:43 Picture Mode for some reason because everyone likes Big Picture Mode on their
4:46 laptop and doesn't have steam set to open automatically when their system boots
4:49 up we also get a couple macro Keys up here though I prefer them on the left
4:54 but your mileage may vary having them on the top might be perfect for you and we
4:59 get a Shadow play button whose position
5:02 I actually hate worst of all I fired up GeForce experience quite a few times
5:06 reaching for escape and I'm sure that the last thing any streamer wants to do
5:10 is reach for escape to close a menu and terminate his Stream So this button
5:15 should really be somewhere really far away from the gaming Zone on the
5:19 keyboard but uh yeah I mean other than that the keyboard's fine and all this
5:23 stuff feels really well intentioned it's just it's kind of a little bit Half
5:27 Baked maybe next time they'll get the layout of that stuff just right speaking
5:31 of baking though now we get to move on to the best thing about the keyboard
5:35 there's no baking at all it's so cool
5:39 the Palm rest is only a couple degrees above the temperature of the table next
5:43 to the laptop the gaming Zone doesn't get much hotter and even the hottest
5:47 part of the top of the laptop stayed in the 40° CSUS and change range during my
5:54 stare at the flare and Crisis 3 test holy crap and the bottom of the laptop
5:58 was very similar to too I mean I guess there's something to be said for thick
6:02 gaming notebooks because cool and quiet is good for your ears and good for your
6:06 Hardware performance is a strong point of the notebook too we did a dedicated
6:10 video on this already which you can watch here but I'll throw the graphs
6:14 into this video anyway for your convenience the 98m handily beats out
6:18 the last gen 88m while costing the same delivering new features having lower
6:23 heat output and lower power consumption and therefore bettery battery life
6:28 bettery battery life better battery life
6:32 which leads us to battery Boost 2.0 compared to last gen's simple slider to
6:37 select a Target frame rate and control GPU power consumption version two tries
6:42 to better optimize the whole system's use of The Limited current that the
6:46 battery can provide usually about half of what the wall plug can do it also
6:50 allows separate in-game settings profiles to be configured for battery
6:54 and wall power within GeForce experience so that your frame rate target will be
6:59 easy to hit and you can use less of your GPU's horsepower and it all works
7:03 automatically now through GeForce experience as long as you launch the
7:07 game while on battery power it doesn't support just starting a game on the wall
7:12 and then pulling the plug unfortunately
7:15 I tried it out in Tomb Raider with a 45 FPS Target using the same settings just
7:20 for an Apples to Apples comparison at a frame rate that I personally find very
7:25 usable and it works I've actually seen
7:28 reports of much better battery life improvements deep into double digits and
7:33 less demanding games around the internet though so your mileage may vary with
7:37 this one as well but it's a very very cool
7:41 feature I guess that pretty much winds it up then doesn't it guys thank you for
7:46 watching this video like it if you liked it dislike it if you disliked it leave a
