0:00 this top 5 video from ces 2016 is brought to you by massdrop
0:04 while i may not wear a fitness wearable we all know i'm not trendy anyway so
0:09 that doesn't prevent fitness from being our first trend here at ces 2016. the
0:14 fitbit blaze watch improves on their previous fitness watch the surge in a
0:18 few ways it's got a color display their
0:22 fit star program with three built-in workouts and
0:25 animations showing you how to do them it's compatible with over 200 mobile
0:29 devices and the battery will last for five days of actual use the sensoria
0:34 athlete 2000 is a prototype workout suit that uses sensors to track body
0:38 temperature fatigue balance impact force running cadence and more the whole suit
0:43 is just a prototype but you can get a bundle that includes a top for men or
0:47 sports bra for women a chest sensor and an anklet sensor called the fitness
0:51 running system for 400 the under armour gemini 2 with speed
0:56 form is a distance tracking shoe it's
0:59 not gps based instead using accelerometers for accurate motion
1:03 tracking and under armour says this is more accurate than wearing something on
1:06 your wrist since the sensor is actually on your foot it transmits data via
1:11 bluetooth and can actually store data without a smartphone for five workouts
1:15 at a time and push to it later on the
1:18 shoes are 130 dollars trend number two
1:21 is smart home products and automation
1:24 the lyric water freeze and warning detector from honeywell can be put
1:28 anywhere where there could be a leak or a pipe freeze on a tub under the pipes
1:32 of your house and will warn you with a push notification and email if the
1:36 temperature drops below a certain threshold the samsung family hub smart
1:41 fridge is actually more than just a tablet stuck to a fridge it's got a huge
1:45 21 and a half inch touchscreen and lets you do all kinds of food related things
1:49 you can order groceries you can look up recipes and it's got cameras inside so
1:53 you can see what food you have while you're out at the store so you don't end
1:57 up buying duplicates the somabar robotic bartender is kind of like a keurig for
2:02 alcohol it's got three clear compartments that hold alcohol and
2:06 mixers with for a total of 750 mils you
2:09 tell the machine through the app what's in the compartments and it's got 300
2:12 recipes built in or you can create your own you can even add bitters and the
2:17 machine will flush itself out between uses so things will taste right it comes
2:21 in at a pricey 429 dollars but that's
2:24 certainly a lot cheaper than even a few nights out at the bar with friends so it
2:29 might be a justifiable purchase it'll be available sometime in quarter two
2:33 trend number three is display technology and this one's kind of a broad one but
2:37 there's a lot going on and panasonic is showing off transparent displays that
2:42 look like part of a living room curio slash display cabinet so it's
2:46 essentially a window and a display in one you can also use it as both for
2:51 example if you just want it to display weather info or sport scores in one spot
2:54 and be able to see through the rest of it speaking of seeing through the rest
2:58 of it bmw was showing off a concept
3:01 motorbike helmet with an augmented reality heads-up display that sits right
3:06 in front of the rider so as not to distract him or her
3:11 and panasonic lg and samsung are all starting to incorporate HDR or high
3:16 dynamic range technology into their higher end tvs now this doesn't look
3:21 like it's just a gimmick like the bad HDR capture in some smartphones and
3:25 there is even an industry-wide certification process in order to be
3:30 certified what HDR means is they can reproduce more colors and more accurate
3:35 colors than most other displays
3:38 which leads us to oleds no longer being
3:41 only present in smartphones and
3:45 televisions no my friends dell's got a desktop monitor and lenovo has a
3:50 notebook both of which feature OLED displays that hopefully address the
3:55 issue with oleds and burn in on static images something that can be an issue
3:59 with things like the taskbar tech trend number four is drones where
4:04 we're starting to see drones capable of doing more than just kind of awkwardly
4:08 flying around and recording video the ehang 184 can actually carry a freaking
4:14 person as long as they're brave enough to get into it the parrot disco ditches
4:19 the traditional quadcopter look and instead has wings like an airplane did i
4:23 mention it's capable of going 50 miles per hour and the unique typhoon h has an
4:28 Intel realsense camera built in so it can avoid colliding with objects without
4:33 any user input which brings us to our
4:36 final trend car technology cars without
4:40 mirrors bmw did this with their i8
4:43 concept which was a huge hit at ces it
4:46 uses several extremely low latency cameras and a high resolution screen
4:51 instead of a rear view mirror with wing quote-unquote mirrors with cameras on
4:56 them to give you a real-time look behind and to the sides of the car with much
5:01 better viewing angles than traditional mirrors and even glancing over your
5:04 shoulder google also looks like they're gonna have some competition in the autonomous
5:09 car market with ford showing off a self-driving focus that they hope to
5:13 price low enough to be accessible to the masses
5:16 NVIDIA also showed off its NVIDIA drive px2 an updated version of the original
5:22 drive released last year it's the computer that could control your first
5:26 self-driving car it's as powerful as 150
5:30 macbook pros or six tight nexus and it's even liquid cooled it also uses
5:35 cloud-based deep machine learning to improve volvo has already adopted the
5:40 technology this video on the top five tech trends
5:43 at ces 2016 was brought to you by massdrop massdrop is the place to go to
