0:00 Linus Tech tips coverage of CES 2015 is brought to you by Phantom glass visit
0:04 store. phantom.in screen protectors out there
0:08 as well as hyperx so we wanted to talk
0:11 about the glex 2 but you can see behind me I can't get anywhere near this
0:15 freaking table everybody's looking at it everyone's walking all over the place so
0:19 we had to track down someone from LG and I was like do you even know who I am and
0:23 they were like yeah wo totally you're lest aren't you that's not how it
0:26 happened at all actually but I did manage to get my hands on a g FL 2 here
0:30 so this is looking a lot better than the glex one that I first saw last year and
0:35 one of the things that I noticed right away when I picked it up is that similar
0:39 to what we've seen ever since the G2 I believe was the first one to do this
0:43 we've still got the volume and lock button on the back in a place that is actually quite natural and comfortable
0:47 for a larger phone like this but unlike the glex one which had kind of this this
0:53 curve that was designed around the curve of the screen and not around the curve
0:56 of your hand they've changed it up so it fits nicely in your hand but the screen
1:00 has its own completely separate curve so it feels natural to your eyes as well
1:04 now whether or not you sort of buy into the whole do we benefit from a curved
1:08 screen on something this small is totally up to you and it's something
1:11 that you're going to have to try for yourself I haven't actually done a full review of a flex device before but who
1:16 knows maybe that'll happen in the future right LG but the specs of the phone are
1:20 looking pretty darn good it's got a Snapdragon 810 processor it's an OCTA
1:24 cor that's eight cores but I don't have any idea if that's eight high
1:27 performance cores or four power saving ones and for high performance ones or
1:32 anything like that it'll be available in variance with two or 3 gigs of RAM
1:35 different types of storage it's got an OLED display that looks absolutely
1:38 beautiful and 1080p which not sure
1:42 exactly why they're doing that since they were one of the actually I believe
1:45 they were the first to do a 1440p phone with the G3 um but I definitely
1:50 understand why they might want to because with OLED you're going to get some power savings and by going with a
1:55 lower resolution display you're going to get some power savings there as well for
1:58 something that I don't personally believe really benefits the user going
2:02 above 1080p speaking of power the
2:05 battery is 3,000 milliamp hours they've made a couple of other upgrades as well
2:08 it's got a 2.1 megapixel selfie camera a 13 megapixel rear camera and that selfie
2:13 camera gets a couple of gesture upgrades so we've still got the whole go like
2:17 this to start the countdown timer thing to start your selfie but now just by
2:21 moving the phone down you can actually preview it as well they also wanted me
2:25 to show you guys this one it's not the best glance for notifications
2:29 implementation I've ever seen but you can drag down from the top in order to
2:32 preview your notifications not too shabby and definitely something that
2:36 those of you who don't already have smart watches will find will come in
2:40 handy so I don't have any kind of confirmation as to when this will be
2:43 available in Canada at the very least but looking pretty nice and it has a
2:48 much much nicer feel than the previous one in spite of the plastic back which
2:52 by the way has their next Generation selfhealing technology so we first saw
2:56 this on the glex where they were doing demos they had like wire brushes going
3:00 all across the backs of the phones and they were healing in a matter of minutes
3:03 now it starts to heal in a matter of about 10 seconds meaning that you can
3:08 throw it in your purse throw it in your pocket with your keys or whatever else
3:11 and it's going to look nice not only on the front where it's got Gorilla Glass
3:15 but also on the back where it's got that selfhealing Tech that's not the only
3:19 cool thing though under the back you take it off you've got micro SD
3:22 expansions something that some phone manufacturers are really shying away
3:27 from and others are embracing and I'm glad to just know that LG is totally
3:30 embracing it cuz you got support for micro SD cards up to 2 terab which is
3:36 completely bananas so I actually have to
3:39 I have to put this down for a second and uh give a quick shout out to our
3:43 sponsors so our first sponsor is Phantom glass these guys make freaking awesome
3:47 screen protectors they're Gorilla Glass 3 so they have that same scratch
3:50 resistance that same Clarity and that same nice feel to your finger as the
3:54 rest that's the regular screen on your phone except that you don't have to
3:57 worry about damaging it speaking of not about damaging things and they're
4:02 available at store.
4:11 phantom.of they don't mind me screwing that up youtube.com/ hyperx they got a
4:16 lot of great gaming content over there those guys have a great sense of humor though so hopefully they're going to uh
4:20 just roll with that or not watch this guys don't miss any of our CES
