0:07 welcome to my unboxing and first look at the thermal R ha Silver Arrow SB so
0:13 that's Sandy Bridge e so that means it supports LGA 2011
0:16 extreme so I have actually already taken
0:20 a look at two very similar coolers in the past the coage arrow which is sort
0:25 of like a less finished version of the Silver Arrow and the Silver Arrow
0:30 now I get to check out the Silver Arrow extreme it definitely comes with a more
0:33 extreme sticker the last thermal right sticker I got was much less extreme than
0:37 that totally different colors it looks like it comes with some different fans
0:41 and it comes with two of them which is very exciting as well so they've added
0:45 support for LGA 2011 which is new ooh different colored fans too those look
0:51 extreme that is for certain so we' got a red frame and orange blades on this 140
0:57 mm fan however check this out because uses a rounded frame you can easily
1:02 Mount these to 120 mm mounting holes in
1:05 your case or whatever else you're using as long as you have enough space around
1:09 it to accommodate the 140 mm size of the
1:13 blades so here let's go ahead and pull this bad boy out as well there's another
1:18 one matching okay the extremeness is
1:21 piling up here next we have the cooler
1:25 itself oh it is more extreme look at that it has a sign significantly more
1:31 extreme shape compared to the original thermal
1:35 right Silver Arrow this thing is oh this thing is gorgeous thermal R coolers
1:40 really are the cream of the cream when it comes to Performance and Aesthetics
1:46 so here let's go hold on there we go so
1:49 all the accessories are in here they also have phenomenal mounting mechanisms
1:53 and I hope I'm not about to be sort of shown up here as I pull out like plastic
1:58 mounting pieces nope not at all check
2:02 this out once I get my handy knife and
2:05 actually open it so oh I had it open in my pocket that could have been bad I
2:10 could have lost like significant parts of my
2:13 anatomy with that going on it's not a good thing it's a bad thing yeah slick
2:18 agrees that's bad okay so I talked about solid
2:23 mounting hardware check this out we are totally going to do this we are going to
2:27 pull out the iPhone size comparison for this
2:30 this is a solid piece of Steel it is going nowhere not anywhere will it go
2:36 awesome love to see it same thing with the back plate the back plate is going
2:41 nowhere it weighs like 3 lb look at this thing similar thickness to the uh to the
2:46 hold down plate actually it looks like it might even be a little thick no they're about the same again not going
2:52 anywhere Universal compatibility so there's your 775 1155 1156 and 1366 or
2:59 2011 or something something whatever they're all in here oh maybe 775 is no
3:02 longer no it's supported okay well I'll assume they're all in there somewhere
3:05 maybe 1 2 3 4 actually okay awesome
3:09 they've also got
3:13 um uh anti- conductive oh non-conductive
3:16 pads and spacers and all the little pieces you need here's all the hard
3:20 Mount mounting screws so it does use a hard Mount system which is again awesome
3:25 and not going anywhere and let's get this iPhone off the table let's get
3:28 these keys off the table and let's be done with the actually
3:32 let's be done with the mounting hardware for now we're going to go along to the
3:36 instructions so check this out I love the way thermal R does their instructions so these actually sorry
3:41 these weren't uh these weren't isolating pads these are isolating pads for the fans anti vibration pads so you can
3:46 mount them on there using these clips and not have to worry about any
3:49 vibrations being transferred to your cooler the spacer ring here is the only
3:53 piece and as well as these isolating pieces are the ones that keep all the
3:58 metal pieces off your motherboard and safe so they've got different instructions for different sockets and
4:03 how to do everything that you need to do and all the hardware is included of
4:06 course just make sure this is you know what this is like you know Linus Linus
4:11 Common Sense tips but a lot of people have problems with this guys when you
4:15 install it on your LGA 1155 system don't throw away like the
4:21 AMD mounting hardware or the 2011 mounting hardware or whatever else the
4:25 case may be because who knows you may upgrade your system at some point and it
4:29 may be handy to still have that all right next we have six fan Clips why
4:34 would they do that when they only include two fans well because you can
4:38 get an additional fan and go one two
4:41 three for like a double layered sandwich
4:44 effect not that you'd actually eat a heat sink because that would be stupid
4:48 you would die you would literally die if you ate this it would shred your insides
4:54 but I'm sure you weren't planning to do that last couple of included accessories
4:58 and look at the sleeving quality on these that's outstanding is it focusing
5:02 okay that's great love it love what
5:05 thermal right's done there okay so what they've got going here is two four pin p
5:10 oh these are four pin pwm fans again excellent sleeving on the fans as well
5:15 check that out love it so two four pin pwm connectors so you can plug that into
5:19 a single CPU connector on your motherboard or you can plug them into a
5:22 Molex they are both wired up and if you didn't want one of these connectors you
5:27 could just go ahead and no wait hold on
5:30 on no you'll need both sorry power is provided by this and then pwm is
5:35 provided by this so you're going to want to run that sort of like behind your motherboard or something all as sort of
5:39 one nice look at that it's like individually sleeved cable effect people
5:42 love that stuff these days finally guys
5:45 the heat sink itself so the difference between the co gaug arrow and the Silver
5:49 Arrow was the finish on it so it had a
5:52 much shinier much more reflective much more blinged out looking finish uh they
5:58 both had the same number of heat pipes they both had the same general design
6:01 although the Silver Arrow had a much nicer overall finish to things like the
6:04 tops of the heat pipes you know how heat pipes always have one finished end one
6:08 rounded end and then one pinched end because they come in standard lengths
6:12 and that's not always suitable for you know whatever various coolers so they
6:15 pinch them shut in order to keep the gases and the liquids inside them so
6:20 thermal R has implemented these caps on here so that it'll look uniform on both
6:24 sides and gorgeous no matter what you do now you can see what they've done is
6:28 actually the heat pipes in the center here closer to where the D of the CPU is
6:32 actually located actually have more fins
6:35 on them so it goes up higher and then as you move out away from the die of the
6:40 CPU there are fewer and fewer and fewer fins actually attached to that
6:45 particular part of the bottom of the cooler now I'm expecting the finish on
6:49 here to be Immaculate because it's thermal right I can already tell from
6:53 the way lights reflecting off it it's got a bit of a bow and what a bow does
6:56 is it puts more pressure on the very center which AIDS thermal compound
7:00 spreading and it also helps to make stronger pressure between or to have
7:05 stronger pressure between the CPU heat sink itself and the heat spreader on the
7:10 CPU in in exchange sort of the die so there's the tighter that contact point
7:14 is and the less space there is in between all those components the better
7:17 your cooling will be because the better the heat transmission will be now of
7:21 course we can't you know get away from the obligatory finger shot there so that
7:25 is how shiny and reflective it is although it should be noted guys reflectiveness does does not necessarily
7:31 indicate flatness which is much more important when it comes to CPU cooling
7:35 total number of heat pipes on this bad boy is eight there are eight heat pipes
7:39 running in a u shape down through the bottom here up through the other side it
7:44 looks absolutely stunning in its shininess I'm going to go ahead and off
7:48 camera we're going to install the fans so you can see what it'll actually look
7:52 like once you put those on well if we were going for the extreme look I think
7:57 we have achieved that with the red and orange and the silver and the shininess
8:02 and just yeah this thing's looks
8:06 freaking awesome thank you for checking out my unboxing and first look at the
8:09 thermal right Silver Arrow extreme don't forget to subscribe to lus Tech tips
