0:01 hey guys Li is getting catchup so we're just going to start the show while that
0:05 happens um there was a massive dos that
0:09 happened in the last couple days I think basically just today but anyways it
0:13 brought down Amazon Twitter Spotify bunch of different kind of huge stuff I
0:17 couldn't tweet all day that was actually kind of frustrating cuz like I'm trying
0:20 to tweet super badass pictures of compensator 2 and it's like nope nope
0:25 failed to send tweet would you like to retry yes doesn't do anything no PNG GG
0:29 nope PNG .0 available on all models cars
0:34 including the model 3 once that comes out which is pretty nuts unveiled
0:38 speaking of unveiled speaking of revealing Nintendo confused us all with
0:44 the announcement of the Nintendo switch uh which I am super stoked on uh on
0:50 chatting about later because I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to agree with
0:53 you or I will agree with you but you're going to buy it anyway yep um and Razer
0:58 purchased THX I still don't so so we'll be back I mean
1:04 next next they're going to say that like Taylor Swift's on their board of directors in other news like Luke is
1:10 dying so if he's not here when we come back from the intro you'll know what
1:14 happened that happened last time too it
1:18 was that's going to be the problem too cuz when I laugh that makes it
1:23 happen and last went I was by myself so it was easier to
1:27 that now you're here
1:35 he's going do all right ma well cable
1:38 mod I fixed it I I fixed it okay you got
1:42 to do the eating cont yeah there you go lineus Tech tips eating
1:45 contest have a bit done so I guess we're
1:49 going to start with Nintendo switch so I can just talk about this no I want to
1:52 talk about that too we don't need Linus's input on this at all yes we
1:57 do so it's like it's a handheld that's
2:02 also a console uh that you can put the
2:05 controllers on or you can take the
2:08 controllers off and you can use the controllers independently for two
2:12 people or just one person and you can maybe do like local network play
2:17 wirelessly maybe and there's Skyrim and there's the new Zelda game and there's a
2:21 new Mario game and like there was tons of stuff that was more or less announced
2:26 in this video but not like spelled out
2:29 on screen which was really interesting like the new Mario game they showed it but they
2:34 weren't like hey new Mario game which is kind of interesting so people weren't
2:38 really paying attention they just be like oh yeah Mario he's everywhere they
2:42 put him on everything but no it's a new Mario game pretty crazy um it's super
2:46 weird with that said it's not exactly like a like a
2:51 groundbreaking no you know revelatory
2:54 sort of but it it would oh really wait hold on no no no you got to stop do a
2:59 new Nintendo console and there's going to be a new
3:02 Mario game for it no that's it enough internet
3:08 no yeah it's a kind of a weird announcement um I'm back that was it we
3:13 had heard for a while that there was going to be some kind of like console
3:17 and handheld thing that was in the rumors for a long time even so I didn't
3:22 really expect this cuz the dock doesn't really look like it does anything other
3:28 than applying direct power and video
3:31 pass through I think I don't think there's any compute happening there I
3:35 don't think there's anything else happening there especially because when he when they go
3:39 to pick it up and they go to switch or whatever you want to say it um when they
3:44 pick it up out of the console if you already have the controller bits on it
3:48 which you can just leave the controller sides on the console if you'd like uh
3:51 because this switch bit right here this
3:55 left controller and this right controller can come right off and then
3:59 they rail in on the sides of this bit right in the middle of the like console
4:05 box I so then that becomes kind of like
4:10 the tablety part of the Wii U which like
4:13 if it if it works the same way is actually pretty awesome but then
4:19 like what uh it's a
4:23 we Le gainst it in every way but it's was weird it's very weird so another
4:28 announcement that came in parallel that for whatever reason isn't in our notes
4:32 I'm actually not sure why that is but another announcement that came in
4:35 parallel was from NVIDIA where they said they're going to be the ones providing
4:39 Hardware yeah for the Nintendo switch so
4:43 this is interesting for a couple of
4:47 reasons is
4:51 that and like okay so number one is that
4:54 it means Nintendo's portable is actually going to have like programmable
5:00 a programmable GPU in it for the first time ever instead of some like custom
5:05 random thing that they sort of stapled together out of like some ARM cores and
5:10 whatever else they kind of found on you know bangood.com if you want to like
5:15 dive more into that go look at like the technical diagrams for the Wii
5:20 U some weird stuff it's part of the reason why people have such a hard time
5:24 emulating those kind of games is just cuz it's it's just weird it's running on
5:28 super weird Hardware uh sometimes um so
5:31 the other thing this means is that we could be looking
5:37 at kind of a tablet likee form factor um
5:42 and and the whole concept seems kind of like uh like oh man how do
5:48 I describe this like somewhere between the NVIDIA Shield tablet which is really
5:54 confusingly named because now they have NVIDIA Shield Android TV and the NVIDIA
5:58 Shield tablet is actually like discontinued they have the somewhere
6:02 between the NVIDIA Shield tablet and that
6:07 weird what was that thing called what I reviewed it um I don't remember the
6:13 Razor Edge Pro this stupid thing what so it had this uh gam pad
6:19 controll I work here when we made this doc thing I don't remember it was a long
6:23 time ago okay I remember this whole there you go that thing okay yeah I know
6:27 this so it's kind of like this thing this is which was uh it was like a it
6:32 was like a 940m or something I it even says it's a tablet it's a mobile console
6:37 yeah um text specs USB ports thank you
6:40 for that razor um
6:46 wow oh okay because it's the because I'm
6:49 looking at the gam pad controller okay fine fine fine fine so it added more IO
6:54 and blah blah blah okay what was it a 640 mle with Optimus technology so this
6:59 this is back um until core i7 dual core
7:03 with hyper threading doesn't even say what generation core i7 it was so okay
7:07 apparently the audio quality is fine but it is apparently cutting out sometimes
7:12 have it from a relatively reliable source okay um I'm not entirely sure how
7:16 to solve that yeah I don't really know what to do cuz I'm not moving anything
7:19 like I'm not touching it we still got a twitch Prime sub
7:23 though hell yeah terrible audio still
7:26 getting Subs wow um that's what's up
7:31 we appreciate you so it's kind of like like that concept but what I said about
7:36 that at the time was cool concept way
7:39 too heavy like totally impractical from a battery life and a weight perspective
7:44 okay then we got the NVIDIA Shield tablet which didn't really take off
7:48 there was that battery recall that HT that hurt that product in a big way and
7:52 then it just kind of disappeared and if we look back at the
7:57 timing for when it disappeared I do wonder if what we're going to discover
8:01 is that might have been around the time that NVIDIA locked in a deal pretty
8:05 close with Nintendo looking at like console creation life life ranges and
8:10 like how long there's been rumors about the NX coming out yeah I wouldn't be
8:14 surprised if it was like six months later that rumors about the NX started
8:18 kind of starting I mean I like I'm just trying to I'm trying to figure out like
8:21 when did NVIDIA Shield tablet YouTube
8:24 like let's find out when our video went up and see if it makes sense so actually
8:30 no I don't think that's long enough cuz the tablet K1 unboxing no wait okay
8:36 initial reviews went up in August
8:40 2014 so if Nintendo saw that that was probably
8:46 enough time for them to at least pivot the development of the Nintendo NX
8:50 because you got to remember too Nintendo is developing their own first party AAA
8:54 titles for it and they've got to make sure that those are going to run on
8:57 whatever it is that they end up with yep
9:02 so a couple a couple more interesting things here this is the first NVIDIA
9:07 GPU uh win design win in a console since
9:11 PlayStation 3 and actually one of the
9:14 only two now that I think about it AMD has been the GPU powering pretty much
9:20 everything for the last little bit Xbox One S Xbox making hits on that too um or
9:25 like not making much at least so my understanding is that it's not like
9:29 amazing ly lucrative like it was in the
9:32 Xbox Xbox One PlayStation 3 generation
9:36 yeah but that it's like Los no Xbox One not Xbox original I
9:41 think Xbox original they ended up doing pretty well wait no Xbox original wasn't
9:45 that NVIDIA as well GPU in Xbox in
9:50 original Xbox I thought it was like equivalent to like a Pentium
9:55 3 um like 733 MHz and then it says
10:01 finding stuff on this is going to be kind of annoying uh code yeah the GPU
10:06 was co-developed by Microsoft and NVIDIA so there you go there was that one as
10:10 well sort of co-developed kind of um wow
10:14 hey I got the CPU right 733 mehz Intel pendium 3 copper mine oh yeah go lus he
10:21 remembers a thing that no one asked him about I actually liked that
10:25 console um I liked the like terrible logo and do you remember the controllers
10:29 that were way too big for anyone except for like my dad cool let's talk about
10:34 controllers for a minute here let's go back to oh they're horrible let's go
10:37 back to picture of the of the switch okay so this I think will be fine uhhuh
10:41 I honestly think when you have them railed on the side yeah of the screen it
10:46 will be fine because my favorite controller to use with the Wii U is the
10:50 big tablet with the screen in the middle when I first saw it I was like I'm going
10:54 to hate this and then it got to the point where if I was using anything else
10:58 it was worse experience and my only like
11:02 proper compromise in my opinion was a Pro Controller if I wanted to play
11:06 something how much of that is the second
11:10 screen experience and how much of it is just the uh the more comfortable spacing
11:15 of your of your elbows it's comfortable so so like give me a percentage um
11:20 probably almost entirely comfort of the elbows because I wouldn't really look at
11:24 the second screen I meant like for playing Mario Kart yeah like I used to
11:28 play Mario Kart all the time I us to stream it stuff I would use that
11:31 controller even though I was never looking down cuz you could look down to
11:34 see I think the mini map or you could look on the main screen for a way better
11:39 view of seeing the mini map and still be able to see where the heck you're going
11:42 so yeah I didn't really care about the second screen yeah second screen for gaming I'm really not that sold on it
11:47 was kind of cool as a fifth player aspect in the Mario Platformers you
11:52 could play like a Godlike kind of character and put down little platforms
11:55 and stuff that only lasted for certain periods of time to like just kind of
11:59 have some fun but like so many Nintendo things there's like one first party
12:02 title and then yep yep yay y so it
12:07 actually kind of feels like they're trying to get away from that which is I
12:10 think it was Ubie I'm not entirely sure but it could be Ubisoft said not that
12:16 long ago like oh we think Nintendo's going in the right direction with their
12:19 new console blah blah blah blah blah blah blah so I think that's has a lot to
12:23 do with the less things that I think are kind of
12:28 cool but a little bit gimmicky deals now look at what I just noticed oh no never
12:33 mind I thought this plus symbol was a plane and I was like whoa it has data
12:37 but no that's just a little plus symbol so I mean I guess that's all fine and
12:42 good for people like you whose forearms are about as big as my biceps but are
12:46 you concerned at all about controller weight if you have to basically have the
12:50 gaming console I mean okay okay so coup I don't
12:55 really think so do you think the second screen makes a comeback so can you use
13:00 the can you plug this like are you expected to wirelessly transmit no no no
13:04 no no not at all okay so if you second screen dead do you think uh from what
13:09 they've showed us in this trailer yeah they they didn't use it as a second
13:12 screen at all not even once um what
13:15 happened was if you like is this a screenshot or is this this is just a
13:19 screenshot okay yeah yeah yeah if you go to a different part of the video he
13:22 docks it actually with these controller arms still on it that's the way that I
13:27 would use it because I'm going to lose lose these things just to be honest so
13:31 I'd rather it stayed on the screen so that I don't lose it um and then the
13:36 like box that you can put these on and use them as a controller so let's go
13:40 back to that picture um oops oh no not that not that one
13:46 let's go back to the other one okay yep go ahead yeah this looks right that
13:49 thing looks horrible it is really ugly oh man I
13:54 don't know I'm not interested in using that at all my plan
14:00 is to take both the controller arms rail
14:03 them onto the console and then just never take them off and not use this
14:07 stupid thing and just use the the new Pro Controller that they've got which
14:11 looks almost identical to the previous Pro Controller which is
14:14 fine so there you go and like I don't
14:17 know if you saw the other scenes but they'll like take these off and use them
14:20 as singular controllers so like you can have just
14:24 flip them flip them on their side yeah yeah so you could take see how this
14:27 thing is actually slotted in use the yeah here slot so that's slott that's
14:30 how you're supposed to play if you want it to be on the TV so it isn't a dual
14:34 screen experience unless maybe you like have a second one but then again no
14:38 except one weird third party or one
14:41 weird first party is going to actually do it but anyways um so they like took
14:47 the thing out brought it somewhere I don't remember where there's a little flip on the back of it so they can set
14:52 it up as like a little stand mhm so you don't have to be holding it the whole
14:55 time if you don't want to for the ARM fatigue thing that you're talking about and and then he handed one of these half
15:01 controllers to someone beside him who turned it to the side and started using
15:05 it as like a sideways weote kind of deal and then he used the other what
15:10 infuriates me about that is that they're
15:13 different yeah ergonomically that's a mess they're not the same yeah so one
15:18 person is going to be flipping it down this way and the other person's going to
15:23 be flipping this up this way and this person's thumb stick is in the middle
15:27 and that one's on the end and these like
15:31 w yikes even like on screen telling you
15:36 what to do this one's arrows that
15:40 one's abxy so tell me this though I mean
15:43 this is okay I'm actually I I'm going to
15:46 present an argument counter to yours right now okay so tell me this though as
15:51 the owner of a Nintendo switch okay when your buddies come over and you use your
15:56 Pro Controller and you guys are just playing some stupid like platformer
16:00 where four buttons and a joyad is enough are you going to invest in two more Pro
16:04 controllers for your buddies or you going to make them use the controllers knowing Nintendo their
16:10 previous controllers probably work do you think they will okay we saw we saw I
16:15 honestly think weot are going to work on this like Wii to Wi U I can see the
16:20 logic in their in their mind of going
16:24 okay like a Wii controller should work on a Wii console
16:29 I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have compatibility because it's not like
16:33 Nintendo it's quite different it's not like Nintendo has never been known to
16:38 kill interoperability for no apparent reason mhm I mean they are still a
16:42 Japanese company um okay I
16:48 think I think I have a feeling motion is
16:52 dead you think so I think so but I I
16:56 don't think that inter
16:59 play as de so like I think you'll be able to use a wiot sideways for
17:04 Platformers and stuff I don't think I
17:07 don't know but I don't think that motion is going to be around and I think
17:11 they're completely ditching the VR aspect although I have seen some people
17:15 talking about like the cloth headset ideal or idea not ideal where you have
17:20 like uh what is it called Daydream you know the Daydream headset thing where
17:24 they could just release that and then it's like oh Nintendo VR I just hope
17:27 they don't to be completely honest um
17:31 and then yeah I think I think motion is gone and Nintendo's going back and just
17:36 deciding that they want to kind of bring their mobile and their console together
17:40 a little bit and there you go so this is NVIDIA's wet dream oh yeah this whole
17:46 this is this is what NVIDIA has been trumpeting from the rooftops for years
17:52 since since the first Tegra I guess it's been a while yeah since the first Tegra
17:57 which is probably like you got Nintendo walked up to NVIDIA and we're
18:01 like oh you're doing some cool stuff you want to work with yes please like yes
18:05 this is what we've been trying to do with our with our portable Graphics
18:09 technology we haven't been able to get anyone to get on board so we've had to
18:13 make our own products which we like totally didn't want to do and we like
18:16 totally screwed it up and and this sucks
18:19 um we just want to make gpus and compute things we just want to make like really
18:23 really cool gpus that are like super power efficient we want someone else to
18:26 put it in something and support it and make games like lordy
18:31 um so okay okay motion is heavily rumored
18:36 by trustworthy leakers apparently so maybe these little things are motion
18:40 control but then I kind of think that's going to suck well yeah but the original
18:44 weote sucks so like is that yeah but weote plus Som surprising yeah okay
18:50 still like you know selling selling the Wii or even
18:55 we of like you can have lightsaber duels
18:59 is is falls under somewhere between very
19:04 deceptive and like litigation worthy
19:07 yeah so yeah I don't know man someone
19:10 said I wouldn't say motion is gone it's just not a focus I definitely don't
19:14 think it's a focus unless they yeah no for have like another trailer in the
19:18 future where they show like different things but they they didn't show any
19:22 focus and there's plenty of time for that oh there is there's quite a while
19:25 till this is going to be launched I still have so many questions as to like
19:29 like what's this like what's this little Notch yeah there's a little notch in the
19:33 back they can't see what is it's okay oh I didn't realize we weren screen sharing
19:38 there's a little notch in the back of the controller what exactly does the
19:41 dock do is it only video pass through
19:45 and power or like is there more to it I
19:48 doubt there's more to it I doubt there is too yeah again that's like they just
19:52 didn't answer that question like this to me looks like a beefed up
19:57 NVIDIA Egra BAS tablet with some rails
20:00 on the side for controllers with some rails on the side for a controller and
20:03 with Nintendo's first party IP ultimately driving the
20:06 sales because it's Zelda so everyone's going to buy it is this an attempt to
20:11 lower software development
20:14 costs by consolidating the two the two platforms now they don't have to have a
20:19 separate develop development team working on like mobile games mobile
20:23 Zelda versus uh fullsize console Zelda
20:26 they can just kind of go like could they could they double their output to their
20:30 install base of sellable games by just
20:34 doing twice as many zeldas twice as many Marios and doing them all for the same
20:38 platform now does it just me kind of spitballing like the business decision
20:42 that goes into trying to make a one size fitall solution my girlfriend had some
20:47 interesting kind of ideas for this I'm just going to bring it back up since
20:50 there's like which was like one of them was optional side quests that make you
20:57 bring it into portable mode so like if you're if they mix like
21:02 the the like vague concept of the go
21:06 games like Pokémon go um and make it so
21:09 like oh okay there's an optional side quest for you to like go do something
21:13 that's 500 M that way so you have to like get up off your butt have to get up
21:17 rail the controllers on the side walk away with the console go over there do
21:23 something while you're over there or like go up this much elevation or down
21:27 this much elevation or whatever oh that's I guess that's hard in some areas
21:30 here it's not um I thought that would be interesting I
21:34 seriously doubt anyone will do that ever but I thought that could be kind of
21:39 fun there's there's a lot they could still do with this but it does simplify
21:43 things one like I'm sure there's people in the chat where there's like more or
21:46 less confirmed rumors or whatever but I've been trying to stay away from rumors as much as I can at one point in
21:51 time only once did I see him put anything or her whatever the different
21:56 people that were in the trailer put anything into
22:01 itard sized thing so it looked like a Game Boy
22:05 game so one game boy game compatibility
22:09 maybe two is that the new
22:12 media right maybe full games are sold on
22:15 this like small size thing because we've seen SD cards in huge capacities yeah
22:19 for a long time SD cards you could put any game on
22:24 an SD card today any game yep so so like
22:29 are they changing the media format is it no longer going to be a disc I don't
22:34 know I don't know man it's pretty interesting I wouldn't mind saying
22:38 goodbye to discs that's for sure I was actually playing a game on my SNES on
22:42 the weekend I was like wow no loading that's
22:45 cool I remember that I would be cool
22:49 with getting away from discs I do still like physical media right I just I don't
22:57 know yeah yeah yeah cuz I I hate the idea of like like this thing doesn't
23:01 look very big wonder how much storage it has probably not
23:05 enough who's been screwed over by the Nintendo store before probably everyone
23:10 that owns one of their consoles like I'd rather own the physical media just so I
23:15 know that it's going to work next time I plug it in yeah I um I have two Wiis
23:19 long story um do
23:24 you two Wiis long story and uh one of
23:28 them has all of my Nintendo store purchases on
23:32 it broken disc
23:35 drive and it turns out and this this again is like like Hardware revision
23:43 cons this weekend I actually had to go on eBay and buy a refurbed optical drive
23:49 for it because if I bought a new one I
23:52 would lose because I have an rv001 one which
23:59 has GameCube ports on the side so I have to buy from some cheesy eBay store some
24:05 refurbed optical drive that's like it's a known bad part they fail all the time
24:10 so like the fact that that one still works today means absolutely nothing
24:13 about two weeks from now yep and uh
24:17 that's the only way to solve that problem y so I will be doing that when
24:21 it arrives um like you said have oh I guess I could
24:27 have just swapped the optical drives yeah isn't no I bought one well
24:37 whatever well does that one have the right optical drive uh yeah they were
24:41 both launch units okay I I literally camped out multiple times for the
24:45 Nintendo wiii it was the one and only time that I have ever camped out for
24:56 anything all right
25:01 we've got people upset about trying the other
25:04 end trying the other end trying the other end of the cable I don't think
25:08 that's it though I yeah it's definitely not the a
25:14 side USB a is pretty much always
25:20 fine okay well that's
25:23 in I don't think that's going to solve it oh oh
25:29 I yeah but I think that's like I yeah
25:32 it's delayed yeah I don't think that's anyway all
25:37 right that work so moving on to have we only done
25:42 one topic we only done one topic we were
25:46 like it is kind of an important topic um but let's move on so orig you
25:52 interested final thoughts final thoughts Nintendo NX or what are they calling it
25:57 now Swit name oh my God it sounds so much this looks a little trashy I'm
26:02 going to put that there there we go um I only
26:07 noticed that now hello yes um we're
26:11 twitch streamers yeah oh oh dang um I I hate that name it it
26:18 super sounds like an accessory which like sucks because the
26:22 Wii U sounded like an add-on for the Wii and now the Nintendo switch sounds like
26:26 and the Wii sounded like a penis so they're like they're like 0 for three
26:30 yeah in like the last 10 years yeah how
26:33 can you how can you do it wrong Nintendo switch doesn't it's not it's not a sexy
26:39 name Nintendo NX was pretty cool I could
26:42 have even played with that like n is in docked mode and then X you put the
26:46 controllers on the side the Nintendo NX is cool Nintendo
26:51 switch is just like it's like they don't have focus groups yeah or something like
26:56 it's probably you know what it's probably one of those things where like the Japanese name is super cool or
27:01 something and like super awesome and makes a ton of sense M and then they
27:06 just like ask that dude in accounting who speaks English like hey yo what
27:10 should we call it and he's like oh uh
27:14 hold on a second I just got to I just got to switch my uh thing to speaker
27:17 phone sorry what was that
27:21 switch I don't know man apparently the audio is borked again yeah I I don't
27:26 know what we're supposed to do about that
27:30 so okay mic problems are like okay
27:35 what's worse mic problems are printer problems uh wow it depends do I need to
27:39 print something right now yeah and you're also live on a show
27:45 um I don't I don't know I think they're both
27:49 terrible
27:55 um let's see we've got people saying
27:58 printer problems I mean that means it's working
28:02 right that was kind of a trick to see if people were going to answer the question
28:05 I guess so this show face palm I know right okay
28:11 let's move on to our next topic yeah with rage this is
28:15 interesting uh so the original article here is from no film school with razer's
28:20 purchase of THX we're one step closer to Ultimate
28:27 calibration what
28:30 what um
28:33 what I don't really necessarily think
28:39 that that is going to have anything to do with anything I mean this is oh I
28:42 mean this is great okay so wouldn't it be nice if we had a laptop with image
28:47 quality that looked reasonably close to that of its broadcast
28:51 monitor I really doubt that razer's
28:55 acquisition of THX has anything to do do
29:00 with having their laptops be broadcast
29:04 monitor quality have broadcast monitor quality displays like the cost of
29:10 putting a broadcast monitor quality display in one of these
29:15 like I I love the razor blade and I think it's a great laptop but already
29:21 they could have put a better display in the razor blade and that could have been
29:25 done fairly easily based on what's available in the market it and they
29:29 didn't so I I don't think they're going to run out and buy THX so that they
29:32 could certify their their displays to
29:35 sort something okay hold on so anyway in 1983 George Lucas created THX to make
29:40 sure Return of the Jedi felt right in theaters THX has been certifying audio
29:45 visual systems ever since um Panasonic TVs enio AV receivers
29:51 Lincoln cars kind of Etc so Razer CEO
29:55 mlan and THX CEO taod Taylor said not neither brand will be going away and the
29:59 two companies will continue to they're going to have their own
30:03 Direction their own customer base and they're going to be operating their own management with their own vision and so
30:08 forth so Razer plans to retain all of thx's existing 50 person staff and will
30:13 hire 10 to 15 more people to expand their core certification business so
30:17 they want to sell more CTS so you shouldn't see any THX by Razer or other
30:22 such cross branding um they see a lot of potential
30:26 to have the expertise of THX supplies in new categories like virtual reality and
30:30 spatial surround sound and Razer CEO added that thx's patents in those areas
30:35 might be valuable
30:38 um this is just weird M ltan also said
30:41 that while they are one of the biggest when it comes to headsets they haven't
30:45 really expend having the best out there which
30:51 as Min knows I most assuredly do not
30:55 agree kind have a funny quote at all from
30:58 the guy that makes razor headsets um they haven't expanded their
31:03 audio line because they're just so focused on having really good stuff no
31:07 no themselves Razer oh seriously yeah
31:10 cuz they're intended okay we killed
31:18 Luc so I I I get a lot of people asking
31:23 me XY or Z and the reason for it is that
31:28 the conclusion for every razor headset review that I can do is always the same
31:33 we also don't review Turtle Beach headsets it's always like yeah it's okay
31:38 I guess for the price but the sound signature is awful it's a mess or Astro
31:42 headsets um yeah Astro they don't like us Astro doesn't like us at all um boy
31:48 that was a terrible product I reviewed and they sure didn't like
31:52 my least Razer is still willing to talk to us
31:58 reviews of their products from time to time y um so basically I if if I had to
32:03 interpret this somehow um Razer with
32:07 data investment money needs to grow
32:10 their business and The Business of
32:14 certification is something they've already indicated that they're
32:17 interested in so things like the Razer co-branded cases from NZXT and antech uh
32:23 things like razor Edition systems from the likes of main gear um so they've
32:27 already demonstrated that this is something that they're actively working on so now they have a dedicated
32:33 subdivision of the company sort of like a sister company like an owned company
32:37 and a a child company is it called it's a parent company a child compy I don't
32:41 know anyway the point is they own THX
32:44 and so we can expect to probably see uh given that they're expanding TI's staff
32:49 by 20 plus perc
32:52 so so we're going to see a lot more like
32:56 you know ASUS Rog Swift monitor
33:00 certified by THX or maybe like um you
33:03 know it's something razer's never really done in the past so you'll
33:07 see while HP do is Harmon Carden Harman card
33:13 Harman Cardon Altech Lancing like
33:17 designed that used to be like every every laptop that happened to be silver
33:21 I don't know why this no this was a thing for like 2 years every laptop that
33:26 was silver colored would have an Al Landing
33:29 bad it was a thing um is called is that
33:33 a pro or a non-pro FP look at the bottom
33:36 look at the bottom is there an XLR input no that is not a pro we will not be able
33:41 to hot swap it but thank you uh if you can get a pro that would be
33:46 swell Colton tries to do things get Pro Colton oh uh you know what speaking of
33:53 getting Pro we wouldn't be able to be professionals at this if it
33:58 dream and our sponsors ma Welden which
34:03 is why I've been very careful that I haven't been build food on your shiring
34:07 anything on my shirt all right so Mac weldon's actually a new sponsor for us
34:11 uh ma Weldon believes in smart design premium fabrics and simple shopping they
34:17 have underwear socks shirts undershirts hoodies and sweatpants that are super
34:21 comfortable to wear we are wearing some of their stuff right now that is bolded
34:25 in my talking points thank you for that Colton otherwise I might have missed missed that so I'm actually wearing just
34:30 it's like a it's like a simple kind of like pocket on the front kind of te it's
34:34 very comfortable is this a polo you
34:38 don't know clothes do you it's a polo though right I actually don't know you
34:42 don't know clothes either it's it's the buttons don't go I thought Polo was short for
34:46 pullover no really p o l
34:54 o it's not short for po so they have a line of silver underwear and shirts that
34:59 are naturally antimicrobial which means that they help eliminate odors that's
35:04 actually really cool so I don't know if you guys know this but silver itself
35:09 like silver the element is naturally antimicrobial that's why a lot of people
35:12 put silver things in their water cooling Loops uh because if you have silver
35:17 fittings actually silver fittings don't necessarily work the best because the
35:21 silver um can actually come off over
35:25 time just from the water flowing over it and then when you go to re use them there's actually no silver ions left in
35:29 the loop anyway the point is people will put like a little silver coil in the
35:33 reservoir sometimes which releases silver ions into your Loop which
35:36 actually just naturally kills microbes so so there you go it's like actual
35:40 science the whole like silver antimicrobial thing yeah now in your
35:45 pants and they want you to be comfortable so if you don't like your
35:48 first pair you can keep it and they will still refund you no questions asked
35:53 pretty cool not only does Mac weldon's underwear socks and shirts look good
35:56 they perform well too too good for working out going to work going on dates
36:00 and just everyday life that's good that their clothes is good for everyday life because that's usually when I wear
36:04 clothes so head over to Mac wen.com and get 20% off using offer code Tech tip
36:09 whoops I always do that I'm like well no I was pointing at the URL
36:13 that time uh okay that's my excuse and
36:16 I'm sticking with it all right also a
36:20 sponsor on the show today is I fix it your complete DIY electronics repair
36:25 solution I actually whipped out my iFixit kit as well as ifixit.com when I
36:31 repaired my Wii this weekend so I
36:35 used um this Phillips head I used this socket
36:41 just to extend my Phillips head to get at one of the uh actually I I I realized
36:45 sponsor spots probably aren't the right time for this but here's some feedback
36:49 on how they could improve the next revision of their kit oh no um a nice
36:53 low profile extension for the bits is
36:57 sometimes nice to reach into those those hard toach areas because as much as I
37:01 love the nural thing on the screwdriver
37:04 see right here it's actually really good it's a lot better than the last 10 screwdriver this could stand to be
37:09 longer and Slimmer so that you can get into deeper things a little bit better
37:12 sometimes so so leave the neurl there and then turning the nurl would turn the
37:16 extension no I just want an extension yeah so so kind of like this socket that
37:20 sometimes I put bits in in order to make them a little bit longer so I used that
37:24 I used my small my midsize triwing
37:28 and I think that was pretty much it there triwing on the Wii uh yeah
37:32 interesting yeah because Nintendo is a bunch of bunch of jerks yeah apparently
37:36 they just want you to not be able to take things apart but that's okay because I fix it doesn't give any spits
37:40 about uh companies not wanting you to take your stuff apart yeah actually no I
37:44 used a couple more things I used my tweezers and I used my metal spudger in
37:48 order to remove some things so basically the Protech tool kit includes the 64-bit
37:53 driver kit it includes suction cups for taking off displays and anti-static
37:56 wrist strap some of their pry tools um
38:00 anti-static safe uh tweezers as well as
38:03 reverse tweezers those can be pretty handy uh their metal spatula thing their
38:08 spudgers as well as one of these littley
38:11 tools do you improperly use the most oh all of them yeah I mean I think that's
38:16 the point of a versatile tool is that you just kind of like attack the problem
38:21 yeah use it for whatever yeah um all of
38:25 their all of their parts are or EXC me all their tools are backed by a lifetime
38:29 warranty and they have great guides on their site that make our lives a lot
38:33 easier and the other one and the other one and the other one and the other one
38:36 there we go give me that one give me that you
38:40 guys do I don't know if this is going to work doing this swap in real time the
38:44 like I think I think xplit might might like get confused and it's and it's more
38:50 likely that it's the cable than the mic anyway which is just sort of a sort of
38:54 an interesting you want to try it anyways I don't know no because it you
38:58 want to do the sponsor spot first yeah we chance destroying the show if we do
39:02 that so cable
39:06 mod yay I used cable cables in compensator today yep so that was good I
39:11 use their custom cables whenever I need to do like a really really compact build
39:15 what is this even what did he hand me open it up all right I'm going to open
39:20 so cable mod cables are made to order their notable features include but are
39:24 not limited to their mod Flex sleeving which is softer than traditional nylon
39:29 sleeving and thinner than cloth braiding it actually looks sick you'll notice
39:32 cable mod cables in use on like most of our case reviews many of our build blogs
39:37 uh they are 100% heat shrink free which means that the sleeved portion of the
39:41 cable what is he doing goes all the way
39:44 into the housing so you don't have any of the heat shrink stuff that plastic
39:48 stuff sticking up around the end of the connector they're invisible wires
39:53 feature means that you cannot see through the braiding so the wire inside
39:57 could be any color and you would actually have no way of knowing that although I believe they are black don't
40:02 quote me on that I've never actually had one of them Fray to the point where I could see through it and then I'm going
40:08 to have to yell at Colton about my talking points because this is great easily Bend and flex your liking superb
40:13 flexibility that is the same thing as modflex sleeving softer than traditional
40:17 sleeving thinner than cloth braing more flexible yeah Colton is Colton is just
40:22 he's dying he's actually fallen down he has died so he he and Luke are both dead
40:26 so we are down to 13 people here at lus Media Group um they also the probably
40:32 the best thing about cable mod though is their configurator so you can go over to
40:36 their
40:39 website I use this thing all the
40:42 time so whenever I'm doing any kind of
40:46 uh oops Global store configurator oh I
40:49 opened up that have you seen these go to Global store okay cool custom PSU
40:55 cables so basically you go in you put in
40:58 your your power supply you put in what kind you want blah blah blah let's say I
41:02 got one of these and I got one of those they've got pretty much everything which
41:06 is pretty cool and then you pick whatever things you want and then you
41:09 specify the length that you want and then you can even which is really cool
41:14 here let's continue the next step check this out you can individually select the
41:19 colors of every wire so you kind of like paint it you just go blah blah blah you
41:23 know I want like a you know dank ass
41:26 like whatever this would be kind of thing going on here you can do that
41:31 cable mod might advise against it but they will definitely ship that to you if
41:36 you so desire so the configurator is really cool and this is a relatively
41:39 recent addition to their portfolio they actually have their sleeved external
41:43 cables now too so this is an Ethernet cable and then I think Luke is also
41:48 running out to grab uh a power cable wow that one's really
41:53 vibrant so this one uses the cloth
41:56 braiding this one uses is a nylon braiding but basically they're like
42:00 really clean power cables Ethernet cables all kinds of external cables so
42:04 your desk cable management can look as good as your systems Cable Management
42:08 you take that too thank you and for some reason my cable mod
42:13 lower third wasn't there so let's go ahead and bring that up so head over to
42:16 caod bit. leod PPC and you can save 20%
42:21 on all cable mod products over at I think that's performance PCS and I'm
42:26 getting the nod from Colton who's supervising me cuz he's not sure if I'm going to do all this stuff right I think
42:31 he no I think he knows we're going to do it wrong if the discount isn't active
42:34 yet check back later that that will be up so cool
42:40 stuff should we move on and actually like do some topics maybe are we going
42:44 to try to hot swap the mic uh oh man I'm
42:47 super sketched on that um cuz like
42:51 levels will need to be adjusted and like
42:55 I don't uh
43:00 temporar okay I'm just gonna I'm just going to leave it apparently the
43:04 discount is active so that's cool go check that out you guys nice all right
43:07 Tesla reveals autopilot 2.0 available on
43:11 all new cars including the model three I
43:14 wonder how long until like some guy buys the model 3 and is
43:20 completely against autop pilot and their kid tries to rip all the tech out and
43:25 see what they can do with it cuz it comes with like uh some pretty intense
43:30 Hardware they call it a NVIDIA GPU Titan
43:35 supercomputer like it's pretty intense and considering the cost of the
43:40 car and the fact that you get an entire car and it has that in it is actually
43:45 kind of interesting honestly that's something that I've always had a hard
43:48 time figuring out why it is that when I'm buying a $3,000 TV it doesn't have a
43:55 $200 processor in it why don't you just
43:58 make it $3,200 and put a proper processor in it
44:03 like Honestly though same thing with cars like why is it that any car made in
44:08 the last 10 years doesn't have an incredibly fluid interface yeah no
44:13 excuse I just spent $35,000 on
44:17 this why didn't you spend a and and that that's the thing like going back five
44:21 years I wanted to do a video like okay so way back when we first started doing
44:25 car stuff the first car thing on our channel was some BMW thing that I did at
44:29 CES and then I wanted to do a followup which is where I compared my car to
44:34 newer similarly priced when they were new um cars that were on the market and
44:40 I wanted to compare them as a car tech episode like cartech Through the Ages
44:44 like okay my car is from 2009 so I think this was 2015 we'll go like in the last
44:49 6 years how much has improved like let's
44:52 let's look at how the automotive industry Paces through things apparently
44:57 cly not at all or negatively sometimes
45:00 um there are some like newer cars which are pretty awesome but at that point in
45:04 time we got in contact with insert manufacturer here cuz honestly I don't
45:09 remember who it was I want to call it the wrong one so
45:13 whatever um and their car had a smaller
45:16 screen and less features than mine at the same price as when mine was new I
45:21 was just like what and to be clear there is some better stuff coming oh and there
45:26 is some better stuff out now but like yeah some of them are still really
45:30 brutal and that one was pretty bad and I still feel the same way about TVs like
45:34 why do TVs still have input leg I I
45:38 don't care how much image processing you put a processor in
45:41 it just just put a better one
45:45 in I mean I went off about that on the
45:49 uh the video I did of LG's $8,000 Signature Series I'm just like they're
45:54 like yes the priority was image quality that's nice
45:57 prioritize everything it's an $88,000 TV
46:01 prioritize everything I don't expect to
46:04 have a crummy gaming experience on a product that costs as much um so this
46:09 picture here also from the electrek.co
46:12 article here shows you what a Tesla will
46:16 be able to see with all of the sensors
46:20 with which it is now equipped so eight cameras three of which
46:24 are front-facing better ultrasonic and a 40 times more powerful onboard computer
46:30 and they're calling it an NVIDIA GPU Titan super computer does that mean it
46:35 is actually based on like a GP 20
46:40 something what what is it gp2 200 GP 2011 I wouldn't be surprised cuz at that
46:44 like really weird I don't know if any of you guys saw this I periscoped it I
46:48 think and I guess that means that it was on my Twitter cuz I didn't have access
46:52 to the main Twitter then but when I was at computex there was this really weird
46:56 NVIDIA announcement meeting and it was like a tiny little
46:59 room and it wasn't really done all that well to be completely honest but they're
47:04 talking about machine learning and something that they kept on pushing but
47:08 would not answer was that they wanted to do more stuff with their
47:12 Titan talking about Pascal very specifically right and they're talking
47:16 about how like oh we've spent enough money to get someone to uh was it Mars
47:21 they were saying like we spent so much money developing this stuff and there
47:24 was a big underlying thing that was like yeah you're all here for computex but we
47:29 spent a lot of money developing this stuff and it wasn't necessarily all for
47:32 you right there was like that was definitely an
47:36 under throwing it in your face but it was the unspoken like there's other
47:40 stuff going on so I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is Pascal based
47:44 so it'll reach level three autonomy in the coming months and level four and
47:49 five autonomy by 2018 in vehicles
47:53 produced today in 2016 so you still have to pay more
47:57 so the uh safety stuff is included for nothing but the autopilot convenience
48:02 features were $3,000 and the new options also come at a price so in order to get
48:07 fully autonomous driving you're going to have to spend $8,000 on the system um okay so if
48:13 you're buying a model 3 that's quite an extra ad
48:18 mhm Tesla's moving away from the name autopilot that should be noted since
48:22 it's going full autonomous and blah blah blah including greater so they're
48:28 calling the safety level substantially greater than that of a human
48:31 driver uh the eight surround cameras provide visibility around the car up to
48:36 250 M and like while it's a little bit of a
48:41 bold claim because they don't have very much sample data compared to all the
48:44 other cars ever yeah it kind of
48:48 logically as we go on will become and
48:51 already arguably is safer than average drivers on the road so this was exciting
48:56 today large dos attacks cause outages at
48:59 Twitter Spotify and other sites including Shutterstock which made it a
49:02 little bit difficult for us to get videos edited today but you know
49:06 hey you know I'm sure they were you know
49:09 doing something important so do our
49:12 notes even have like um so they took down Amazon Twitter Spotify a second
49:17 attack has been reported sites were down for two hours before coming back up and
49:21 the way they achieved this was by attacking D DNS a public DNS service um
49:26 um which is pretty intense yeah so
49:31 websites and services across the East Coast were shut down earlier in the day
49:35 and Dy added that the attack impacted its DNS Advanced Services monitoring for
49:40 customers but it later resolved the issues the Department of Homeland
49:44 Security told CNBC that it is looking into all potential causes potential
49:48 causes of the attack I can tell them the potential cause it's got cheese stained
49:53 fingers there was some seismic activity yeah seismic
49:58 it caused dos
50:02 attacks razor blade Pro yep are you
50:06 stoked do you care um I requested a
50:09 review sample if that's what you're asking am it looks thin and it has a
50:13 1080 in it stoked I think stoked is a strong word it has an Ethernet port and
50:17 I'm stoked about that hell raw yeah baby 2016 bringing
50:23 Ethernet ports that's right bringing it back yeah sucker
50:27 I am interested in the fact that it features their new lowprofile mechanical
50:33 membrane hybrid switches that's cool because while the blade switches are
50:38 like acceptable I don't think they're I personally don't like them that much oh
50:41 I really like them but compared to other laptops in its thickness they're very
50:46 good compared to other laptops at all
50:49 I'm not a fan okay that's not really fair cuz if we're going to like pull the
50:52 gt80 Titan out I'm not you know full Cherry MX Brown not counting that
50:58 one not counting that one actually don't like that experience either cuz that
51:02 experience as a whole is just kind of terrible I don't understand how they
51:05 sold so many of those laptops have you ever you've like tried to use it right
51:09 like it's not it's not you know they were you know they reneged on the GPU
51:13 upgrade commitment right seriously yeah I did not know they had no choice GTX
51:18 1080 replaced
51:21 980m oh yeah yeah they had no choice
51:24 like it was completely different ball wax there was no way for them to power
51:29 cool it so apparently I talked to the US
51:32 office about it apparently they worked it out so that gt80 Titan owners could
51:37 work out some kind of a deal to like upgrade there was like an upgrade
51:41 program for the laptop itself or something but like yeah what a bad
51:45 situation that's pretty brutal um okay so some more some more specs for the
51:49 Razer Blade Pro I mean the one thing I'll say about the new razor blade Pro
51:54 is that this is one case where it's actually just Jus ified to like do a
51:57 reboot calling it the new razor blade Pro because they have had a razor blade
52:01 Pro before no no the original Blade Pro had that switchblade thing where it was
52:06 like a display on the touchpad the glass touchpad glass touchpad that was off to
52:11 the right you're getting soft I don't consider it a real product you're
52:15 getting oh oh I consider it a tech demo
52:18 I don't think they sold a lot of them no
52:21 have you ever seen no a Blade Pro I've even tried to tell people about it cuz I
52:26 remember like we reviewed it where I no one has any idea what I'm ever talking
52:30 about it had like a 760m or like a 660m in it or something
52:36 like it had an awful GPU in it that thing on the side 17in display weird
52:42 side mounted like so doomed I get it
52:45 okay reboot proper GPU 17.3 in so you're
52:48 talking like Tomb Raider kind of reboot yes I'm talking like rebooted like new
52:53 Tomb Raider new razor blade Pro
52:56 can you get on board with that but they didn't call it new Tomb Raider they just called it Tomb Raider that's true but
53:01 that's kind of worse like if they just called it Tomb Raider 2013 we'd all be a
53:04 lot less confused and I don't think anyone's confused though I think that
53:08 was like the one time that actually sort of worked let's see so they're just
53:11 calling it new well okay so I'm still not I'm still not that was a pretty
53:16 significant amount of time I think for Tomb Raider yeah was like 20 years how
53:20 long has this been uh like four four five something like that I guess it is
53:24 Tac Hardware yeah but like that's an ET turn in Tech yeah yeah I still hate the
53:29 name but I see where you're coming from so 4K display with an LED backlight as
53:33 if they were going to what else would they be backlighting it with um it's a
53:36 touchcreen nuclear power yeah it's like
53:40 yo we're going to put we're going to put ccfl backlighting into a laptop for the
53:44 first time in the last five years you have to swap
53:49 him we we wanted our laptop to be super thick and bulky and have an uneven
53:53 backlight so we we went ccfl no they're just TR make Fallout 4 more immersive we
53:58 wanted lots of heavy metals in our laptop so that you know you could rock
54:01 out to like heavy metal yeah um hell
54:04 yeah GTX 1080 with 9 gigs of GDDR
54:11 5x it's an unusual configuration core i7
54:15 6700 processor so that is a desktop
54:19 grade processor which is what very interesting
54:23 up to 32 gigs of dual Channel memory ddr4
54:27 and 512 1 terab or 2 terab of storage in
54:30 raid zero our videos are so clickbait now that I don't know how I'm going to
54:34 find this CU I don't know what it was called what are you looking for but um
54:39 the the event that I went to in London uh oh uh uh uh uh uh uh um mobile gpus
54:46 are dead clickbait um anyways well
54:49 it's true sure is yeah um like I don't I do
54:56 not think that was the spec that they said the 1080 was going to be so that's
55:00 something new well the 1080 is customizable I actually got a really
55:03 interesting email from uh Sasha conon I remember Sasha
55:10 from uh from his bit Phoenix days y but he saw my video of the um oh he's from
55:16 he's there now yeah he's at isus now he saw my review of the Sager dual 1080 SLI
55:22 laptop and he sent this memo out to me
55:25 uh as far as I know the total uh TDP for
55:29 the GPU is around 220 Watts for mobile
55:32 1080s I don't know if G saying that he said this oh cuz at the event that I was
55:37 at it was like they were not talking about tdps for things well basically oh
55:43 am I why do you tell me this then hold on a second may I ask what prompted this
55:48 message blah blah blah blah blah blah blah like I don't know but like PC per
55:52 and other people were like hey what are the tdps of things and they were like no
55:56 definitely not so I don't Oh thanks Ryan for the good
56:01 question at the at the meeting that was what we know is that the TDP for the
56:07 mobile GTX 1080 is configurable what I know and what you
56:13 don't know is that it is very
56:17 configurable depending on how much um
56:21 thermal dissipation The Notebook is designed for and how much power The
56:25 Notebook is designed to provide so
56:28 whatever the manufacturer sets it to the
56:32 GPU will try and get the most out of the power and thermal budget so what I will
56:38 definitely be doing with the Blade Pro is putting it head-to-head against a
56:43 thicker style laptop that has a GTX 1080
56:47 Mobile Edition in it I wonder if you can beat it out I can beat out anything like water
56:52 cooling we could try water cooling it yeah we should try to make the best dock
56:57 ever made for a razor blade Pro I'd be
57:01 kind of down when you dock it it like you water cool it we should just do like
57:04 the best laptop dock ever like I don't know exactly how we
57:09 would do it but like hm but if you just
57:12 like pelti the crap out of the bottom and made it like really cold pelti
57:16 cooling is a nightmare I know cuz it's more okay so a lot of people have asked
57:21 why I've never done a tech cooler video Tec cooler uh thermoelectric cooling P
57:26 ch um the reason is that most sorry um the
57:32 way that most people think Peltier cooling works is not really the way that
57:38 it works so there's more to it than just like you put a pelti on something and
57:43 like let's say a CPU and the CPU runs really cool so you actually have to
57:49 dissipate not only the heat produced by
57:52 the CPU but also the Heat produced on
57:57 the hot side of the pel it's pretty brutal so let's say you've got uh you
58:03 know 130 watt CPU something along those lines okay so you have to have a cooler
58:07 that can dissipate 130 watts of heat
58:10 then and this is where it gets really cumbersome you can't just put 130 Watt
58:15 pelti on it doesn't work that way you need something like double or possibly
58:20 triple the capacity if you want to see really low temperatures like if you want
58:24 to actually justify the fact that you using it if you use one that is
58:28 underpowered you will actually end up with the Peltier acting as an insulator
58:33 and you will end up with CPU temps that are
58:36 hotter than what you would have if you weren't using a pelier at all and you
58:40 will eventually burn out your Tech there's also condensation issues there's
58:44 condensation issues and there are power issues oh yeah so why are you trying to
58:49 Tech cool there's a question you have to ask yourself are you trying to Tech cool
58:53 because you want super low temperatures or because it's freaking sick and if
58:58 that's the case then go phase because
59:02 Tech cooling is can be can be cheaper
59:05 than phase but okay I I'll get to that
59:09 so Tech cooling can be cheaper than phase but it also has the potential to
59:15 fail catastrophically because your CPU will overheat very very quickly with a
59:20 pel that stops working on top of it and the configuration is complicated you'll
59:24 still need to insulate it's like kind of a pain in the butt and if you're
59:29 concerned and it's so it's less reliable than phase change remember phase change
59:33 is what runs your fridge like pH Chang is like appliances stuff like it's
59:36 pretty that's why it's loud it's pretty stable technology by this point in time
59:40 the other thing is that while phase change is loud Tech cooling because now
59:47 all of a sudden you have a 450 watt heat
59:50 load sitting on your CPU to Cool Tech cooling ends up pretty loud too the way
59:55 people used to do do it was by buying meanwell 320 W power supplies and then
59:59 if they had a really powerful Tech they would buy a couple of them those things are freaking loud they're like server
60:04 power supplies yeah nowadays we have power supplies that technically could
60:08 run a system and a tech but what we still don't have is power lines in your
60:13 system actually designed to carry that kind of current without overheating so
60:17 you would have to like custom wire up like an ax 1500i and even then I don't
60:22 think Corsair is going to sign off on putting stuff like that on their power
60:27 supply because it's an incredible load
60:31 and there's a reason that modern power supplies even if it's done virtually
60:34 have their rails divided so uh random
60:37 aside really quickly we'll get back to this uh when I was at twitchcon randomly
60:42 mostly for fun I guess uh I stopped by some Booth who luckily didn't know who I
60:47 was cuz I ran away afterwards um but they were selling CPU
60:52 coolers that were Tech coolers they CP coolers and then they
60:56 had six pin power that would go into the side of it and I saw that and was just
61:02 like what the heck yeah and a n Tech has
61:07 a review up I wonder how he did his
61:10 conclusion because when I was standing there not only do you have this weird
61:14 cable going into the top of the cooler which is the worst possible place for
61:18 that to be in terms of like aesthetic Cable Management stuff um but it didn't
61:22 seem like it did that well um they did a demo in person and I was like eh but
61:27 like I can't the an on tech review which we're
61:32 just going to like pull up on screen you guys can check it out it's actually a
61:35 pretty good read uh core
61:38 temperatures uh blah blah blah measured so this is with a 60 watt load so it's a
61:43 pretty low power CPU let's see do they here we go uh here we go so let's say
61:49 100 watt load and if you're overclocking that's not even so you can see it goes
61:53 from being the best performing to falling way way behind to be fair its
61:58 size compared to a D15 is that's a that's a big difference yeah it is a lot
62:04 smaller than a D15 so it is smaller but if you're if you're okay you're putting
62:08 if you're Tech cooling I'm assuming we're not talking 100 watt load we're talking 150 watt load at least and all
62:13 of a sudden it's like pretty close to the am it's closer to the AMD wraith
62:18 than it is to an auu N15 and like which is like a box cooler
62:22 I mean it's a good box cooler but it's a very good box cooler let's get real a
62:26 box Cooling and like you have to plug that six pin into the it's so Derpy I
62:30 don't know and the more you load a tech the worse it performs and the hotter
62:35 it's running the less efficiently it runs like there's a bunch of problems
62:38 with tech Cooling and there's a reason that it has never happened so there you
62:44 have it apparently the sound cutout right
62:47 after I said I can't so people were like
62:50 can't what you can't even oh Dead memes
62:55 um AMD announces their Q3 2016 Financial
62:59 results hey uh no no that's just their stock
63:03 price oh sorry no they lost hey that's also good though they lost a bunch of
63:06 money oh but they lost less maybe so 1.3 billion Revenue gross margin of 5% and a
63:12 net income ofus $46 million
63:16 oh so um they have more Revenue but as
63:22 far as I can tell they straight up just bought it
63:25 they could have literally bought like they did worse than buying
63:30 they could have bought money and then they'd be better off than if they hadn't
63:36 I'm pretty sure if they bought like American dollars and then just
63:40 transferred them into Canadian basically they sold $5 bills for
63:47 $3 no like $2 yeah oh for to make up the
63:52 difference between yeah um so so so there's
63:58 that oh man see oh I thought they're
64:02 doing better than that because they're selling lots of
64:05 gpus so I mean this your 400 series is good okay this is coming in a video very
64:12 soon I actually have a video that I'm calling the viewers Choice Award PC yeah
64:17 where I go through all of the Amazon sales data for this is really
64:21 interesting really cool video you should seriously all watch this yeah all of our
64:25 Amon Amon affiliate sales data and I pick all the most popular components
64:30 well I don't pick you guys pick based on what people are buying I sift through
64:34 and find all the most popular components for every category CPU motherboard case
64:39 and what's really cool about it is that I end up with a very all compatible yeah
64:44 I ended up with a fully compatible totally sensible gaming config yeah
64:50 that's like as good as anything I could have picked out good job
64:56 the bad news is that I it probably the
64:59 most generic thing ever no no it it pretty good it was pretty good fantex
65:04 saw 400s like a 6700k it's like pretty pretty ba fantex
65:09 400s is like okay fantex is kind of the
65:12 they're they're kind of rocking the case game right now they're like Corsair when
65:16 cases first started getting cool Corsair like kind of started all
65:21 this so I ran through just because I had all the numbers in front of I ran
65:26 through some some additional numbers I was just kind of curious in our viewer
65:30 base what's the what's the market share like NVIDIA versus AMD uh both in terms
65:35 of units sold and in terms of Revenue
65:38 and what I found was actually pretty terrifying I um I'm just going to see if
65:44 I can maybe I'll just bring it up right right now I'll bring up the actual numbers because I don't want to say
65:48 something wrong AMD 400 series cards are really good to be very clear we don't
65:53 we're not hating on the cards no like what not a thing it's it's been
65:59 frustrating like talking to friends and family and like random people outside of
66:05 just videos that we make for LT people be like oh man I need a 1080 but it's
66:10 really expensive and I'm
66:13 like why it's so
66:19 powerful you don't why and then I have to like fight
66:24 and talk them down to 1070 which is still
66:29 ridiculous h i I think the thing is like no no one wants to like be that guy with
66:33 a 400 series AMD card but then we just did testing on Battlefield 1 spoiler
66:39 alert holy crap the AMD cards did real
66:42 well yeah don't turn on
66:46 dx12 oh I'm pretty sure AMD it made no
66:49 difference and NVIDIA it was slightly
66:52 worse I think I don't know and don't go on Lower medium settings John figured
66:56 this out what the heck low and medium settings introduced like artifacting and
67:00 all this other bogus you'll have to watch the video to like see what's going
67:04 on but that was yeah that's coming soon weird um so video card market share last
67:08 month by units was 87.7% NVIDIA 12.3% AMD and by Revenue
67:16 this is where it gets really scary 95.1% NVIDIA 4.9% AMD now with that said
67:24 the stuff that people were buying in in general skewed towards the high end for
67:28 St things that people were buying on our affiliate code so bear that in mind but
67:32 what you guys also have to understand is much like we were talking about on the W
67:36 show two weeks ago where Samsung is saying is really confident that ssds can
67:41 overtake hard drives um in the economy
67:44 segment of the market because hard drives have a fixed cost you have to buy
67:49 platters you have to have Motors you have to have magnets whereas so so you
67:54 can only build a hard drive for like 40 bucks at the very cheapest no matter
67:57 what capacity it happens to be a video card has a fixed cost you have to have a
68:03 PCB you have to have some RAM even if
68:07 you have a lower amount of RAM you still have to have like RAM packages RAM dieses you have to have the connectors
68:12 you have to have theum licensing associated with an HDMI port like
68:16 there's all of this stuff you have to put some copper on it to cool it and a
68:21 fan and when your chip is bigger and more expensive that's right so when your
68:25 video card can only be sold for
68:28 like0 to $250 which is AMD's entire viable
68:34 product stack right now you incur the same overhead as someone whose product
68:39 stack goes all the way up to $700 so when NVIDIA sells a GTX 1080 the
68:45 cost of that fan that $3 fan is a much
68:49 lower proportion of the overall sale than it is for AMD where it's like you
68:54 know three % of the cost of the card
68:58 it's like it's significant now um so
69:01 when you look at AMD's Revenue numbers and you kind of go oh maybe they're
69:04 selling lots of gpus it's not as profitable yeah and that's a big problem
69:09 yeah
69:12 um oh I really hope Zen does well me
69:17 too
69:20 although I'm like selfishly not excited for it to come out cuz then for
69:26 everything everyone's going to want an entirely other set of
69:31 benchmarks cuz they're going to want the other platforms results no one cares
69:35 right now that everything's just tested on Intel and it's fine yeah but like
69:39 like I we just did Battlefield and I did
69:42 like or John sorry John John did uh
69:46 graphics card testing total system RAM testing vram testing uh like CPU core
69:53 testing now we're going to have to do CPU core testing other type of CPU core
69:58 testing other type of IPC test so like
70:01 figuring out which speed matters on different thing
70:07 oh press F pay
70:11 respects so many benchmarks Uber's ad
70:14 toing drones are heckling drivers stuck in traffic oh my God so the trans oh my
70:22 God like look at these things
70:26 so the translation is are you driving by yourself or something along those lines
70:30 let me just uh let me let me have a look Spanish to English says driving by
70:33 yourself this is why you can never see the volcanoes uh so it's a reference to
70:38 the smog that hovers over the city and obscures too nearby Peaks uh so it's an
70:42 ad for Uber pool as part of Uber's big push into markets across Latin America
70:47 wow Uber what a way to get drones banned in your area Uber does more business in
70:52 Mexico City than almost any other City
70:55 it operates in so I thought that was pretty interesting what a way one of those is
71:00 going to fall and it's going to bounce off a car and then smash a window and
71:04 then drones are going to be banned well it won't be able to get over the wall into America so
71:10 oh so he's kind of like imploded over the last little bit we don't even have
71:14 to make fun of him anymore SC yeah so
71:18 that's that's just as well that that that got too close for comfort I don't
71:23 know if it's I don't I don't want to talk about politics but I think we're I
71:28 think we're just screwed in that department whatever happened I'm not
71:31 happy with anything going on down there oh well yeah okay even the side game I'm
71:35 just like nope don't like any of it side game the like third party stuff whatever
71:42 oh the independent oh well the the other the non non two- party non two party
71:46 thing yeah I just the whole thing I don't know Samsung commences
71:52 mass production of system on chip with 10 nanometer fin fet Tech now the thing
71:57 to understand here what if these on would be bombs a nanometer is not
72:01 necessarily like a nanometer at tsmc is not necessarily A nanometer at Intel is
72:06 not necessarily A nanometer at Samsung uh the way that it's defined is not
72:10 quite as black and white as it used to be yeah um so for example one person's
72:15 14 nmet is not necessarily or could be
72:18 equivalent excuse me to someone else's 16 nmet uh finfet makes a big difference
72:23 with that said this is 10 NM fet but not everyone's finfet is created equal um
72:28 but here's the quote the industry's first mass production of 10 NM finfet
72:32 technology demonstrates our leadership in advanced process technology says the
72:37 Executive Vice President head of Foundry business at Samsung Electronics we will
72:40 continue our efforts to innovate scaling Technologies and provide differentiated
72:44 total solutions to our customers apparently allows up to a 30% increase
72:49 in area efficiency with 27% higher performance or 47 or excuse me 40 %
72:55 lower power consumption so expect faster
72:59 phones with less power consumption in a phone near you sometime pretty soon
73:05 that's good speaking of phone near you pretty excited to finally try the pixel
73:09 yeah should arrive pretty soon I'm actually and the more I hear about it
73:12 actually the more excited I am so hopefully it works out maybe maybe
73:17 they'll have figured out how to make it so that when you go into the battery
73:22 usage thing in Android oh no it's it's not just full of it's not just full of
73:26 40% Android system that you don't know what's actually using the power by the
73:30 way I did get your email do you think they figured that out about the laptop do you think they figured that out yet
73:34 no no no you don't think so oh no all right I did get your email about the
73:37 laptop's next door which like the W show is very well versed on at this point and
73:41 no one else has any idea what's going on yeah the the browser Wars yeah uh I am
73:46 still I've got some more information okay I hear did you hear my whole like
73:51 I'm leaving Windows 10 thing uh yes I
73:54 think so so there's so many like background processes and all this that runs that I'm just kind of
73:58 done with Windows 10 so I was
74:01 like this has to be why that's going on
74:05 and it is I was right there are random
74:08 bull crap things that are happening during the tests it just so happens that
74:12 two of them seem to have pattern at the same time and two of the other ones seem
74:16 to pattern at the same time as well because I did some follow-ups and they
74:20 don't always like the two that did better on
74:25 that one test yeah sometimes don't
74:28 sometimes they will do worse and they did better by like 2 hours and sometimes
74:32 they will do worse by like an hour or something right so they're not better
74:36 laptops they just patterned better so I need to figure out every single
74:40 individual tiny thing to turn off and there are a lot of
74:45 them wow Windows 10 oh my God there's a
74:49 huge amount of automated things in the
74:53 background like oh it's not just my stream like it's a thing and it's
74:57 crippling people like and i' I've done some more research on it like like
75:00 pretty low-end computers that you're like remember back in the day like oh you're a Windows 7 computer you couldn't
75:05 have done Vista but SE or uh XP computer you couldn't have done Vista but 7's
75:09 probably fine throw it on it's fine no 10 is not that way 10 is more Vista
75:14 where like you need the horsepower right and if you have it it will do cool
75:18 things and it will automate everything and everything in the back end is all nice and clean and tidy and stuff if you
75:22 don't have the power it's not very nice to you and if you're like using a lot of
75:26 your computer it does not care it will do whatever it wants completely
75:31 irregardless of what you're doing which is frustrating but anyways it's coming
75:36 along all right so Microsoft research
75:40 demonstrates an actuator that allows feeling virtual objects in 3D
75:48 space so it's a me it's a mechanically
75:51 actuated handheld controller that renders the shape of virtual objects
75:55 through physical shape displacement enabling users to feel 3D surfaces
76:00 textures and forces that match the visual
76:04 rendering um so they've published the results of their investigation in the
76:07 proceedings of the 29th annual Symposium on user interface software and
76:11 technology and they demonstrated two such controllers normal touch and
76:14 texture touch it's tracked in 3D to produce spatially registered haptic
76:19 feedback now we just need incredibly
76:23 powerful magnets because I I think so far that's the only
76:28 way that I've uh been able to figure out how they're going to do weight
76:34 right cool yeah the PS4 Pro is basically two PS4
76:40 chips using one of them for old games and both for the pro enhancements so the
76:45 original article here is from Games Radar and um so I G SLI is back except
76:54 sorry Crossfire Crossfire cross sorry Crossfire Crossfire Crossfire except
76:59 also there's two CPUs so like Athlon MP
77:03 is back hey FX FX platform is back what what was
77:09 it quad FX 4x4 4x4 is
77:13 back um sorry I'm dying so I guess there's
77:18 not really much else to say about that I'm trying not you uh games that support
77:22 the new console will have a base and a pro mode depending on the hardware they're played on the ability to switch
77:27 between the two comes from actually doubling the existing Hardware wait so
77:30 are you going to have to select that so we doubled the GPU size by essentially
77:34 placing it next to a mirrored version of itself giving us an extremely clean way
77:39 to support the existing 700 PS4 titles we just turn off half the GPU and run it
77:44 at something quite close to the original GPU
77:50 oh okay so you double the GPU power while running the CPU at the same rate
77:54 to ensure compatibility with older games okay
78:00 okay um psvr is doing really well we
78:04 just skimmed over an article that was talking about that it's selling yeah
78:07 50,000 units in Japan in the first week although Japan sales of a Nintendo or
78:12 Sony or Playstation yeah thing are not always like IND of i' I've heard that
78:18 it's doing pretty well in North America and one of the reasons why ours was delayed is because it was sold
78:22 out okay fair enough like it's
78:26 yeah all right well I think that's it for the W show thank you very much for
78:29 tuning in this week we will see you again next week same bat Time same bat
78:34 Channel yeah and I'm going to run the intro but it's the outro now yeah we
78:39 should really like do like a a thing where we pick up the couch and walk away
78:43 with it or something didn't I say that oh you mean animated thousand years ago
78:48 probably never no I me
79:18 protect your package protect your package with silver fibers in your uh
79:23 fabric protect your pecs
