today we're going to be unboxing the ocz revo Drive X2 bootable PCIe solid state
0:06
drive it uses an award-winning design it is sand Forest driven it is powered by
0:11
PCI Express 4X and it uses internal
0:14
raate zero so now that I've read you all of the information off the box I am
0:18
going to open the package and then the Box basically this is an updated version
0:24
and a higher performance version of the original Revo Drive which was released
0:29
really not all that long ago what the revo Drive X2 brings to the table over
0:34
the original Revo Drive is more performance as well as the capability
0:39
for higher capacities because of the way it's designed it is also completely
0:44
bootable so all you do is throw it in a PCI Express 4X or higher slot so it can
0:50
run in an 8X or a 16x slot a 4X slot
0:54
doesn't really matter you're just going to get more band or no you're not going
0:57
to get more bandwidth if you run it in a lower slot like a PCI e1x slot then
1:02
you'd get lower bandwidth but the 4X slot is the optimal one and I'm not sure
1:07
where I was going with that my SSD is faster than your hard drive sticker is
1:10
included you also get an installation and quick start guide all right and
1:15
then since there are no accessories we
1:19
can presume that the revo Drive functions with no accessories and we
1:24
would be correct because unlike SSD
1:27
normal SSD drives hard drive drives pretty much anything else that you plug
1:32
into your computer the revo Drive is
1:35
entirely powered as well as uh it's
1:41
putting all of its data over the PCI Express connector here at the bottom so
1:45
your power comes here your data goes here that means you don't need any
1:48
external power adapters you don't need any external data cables this is it this
1:52
is a 240 gig drive that is powered by
1:56
four count them four sandforce controllers so each one of these
2:00
sandforce chips right here is controlling a bank of flash so you can
2:05
see there's also flash chips on the back and then there's two more sand Force
2:09
chips that are on that level so the revo
2:12
Drive X2 really is X2 it uses two pcbs
2:16
four sand Force controllers running an internal raid zero in order to get the
2:22
blistering fast performance speeds which I don't think I've actually called out
2:26
specifically so the 240 gig and up are
2:29
capable of reads up to 740 mb/s and wres
2:34
up to 720 megabytes per second let's flip it
2:37
over and have a look at the back so that's uh the RAID controller chip right
2:41
there actually so I believe you can actually configure the drive uh in
2:45
something other than raid zero but it comes preconfigured bootable in raid
2:50
zero for maximum performance so there's your uh part number sticker on the back
2:55
the back PCI plate has absolutely
2:58
nothing on it it's completely bare because that's it you take this you
3:01
throw it in the slot boom you have a 240
3:04
gig bootable raid zero drive so thank you for checking out this unboxing and
3:09
first look at the ocz revo Drive X2 240
3:13
gig SSD don't forget to subscribe to Linus Tech tips oh ah one more thing
3:18
check this out cool so they've got the drives actually labeled on here so this
3:21
is Drive zero this is drive one and uh
3:24
presumably drives two and three are also labeled down there but I can't really
3:27
see yeah they are
