0:00 trust me kid i've been hunting for tech news in these
0:04 parts for a long time and uh whoa is it
0:07 dangerous it's deadly
0:11 now there's an age-old debate about whether apple products live up to the
0:15 hype but a new report suggests that apple has been pulling the wool or could
0:20 it be apple skin over our eyes with regard to
0:24 battery life on the iphone a consumer
0:27 advocacy group based in the uk is claiming that after testing nine iphone
0:33 models literally all of them fell significantly short of apple's claimed
0:38 battery life with respect to talk time
0:41 now according to the report the iphone 10r showed the biggest discrepancy
0:46 between the actual talk time and apple spec sheet only lasting about 16 and a
0:52 half hours instead of the advertised 25.
0:55 now apple put out a rather generic statement about how it stands behind its
1:00 claims in response but to be fair to
1:03 them the uk watchdog group didn't reveal its testing methodology so
1:08 maybe the issue is that they were i don't know uh holding it wrong
1:13 now if you were excited to get your paws on AMD's new third gen threadripper chip
1:18 you might be in for a bit of a wait it's gonna be a heavy one
1:23 a couple of months ago AMD indicated that their latest behemoth in their
1:27 high-end desktop lineup would be ready sometime in 2019 but the focus seems to
1:32 be firmly on the higher volume more consumer-oriented 3rd gen ryzen series
1:38 which should be dropping sometime this summer although both the upcoming ryzen
1:42 and threadripper chips will be using the seven nanometer manufacturing process
1:46 there is some speculation that this new process might not have the capacity to
1:50 handle all of the new chips that AMD is pushing out especially when you consider
1:55 that AMD is also using it for their new server processors and for their gpus so
2:02 here's the deal then if you really need to rip threads before 2020 you can go to
2:06 your local fabric store and get a seam ripper which is lame not quite
2:12 the same thing but hey you can make cool cut off jeans
2:16 now remember when the best looking desktop mac that you could buy looked
2:19 kind of like darth vader's
2:22 garbage can well i think it's safe to assume that apple learned from pushing
2:27 out a design that not only looked kind of funny but was very difficult to
2:30 upgrade much to the chagrin of their professional level customers so we're
2:34 all excited to see what apple has up its sleeve at next month's worldwide
2:38 developer conference probably not this look uh where sources say that apple
2:42 will be coming out with a new mac pro along with an HDR mini led monitor to go
2:47 alongside it no word yet on what the new system will
2:50 look like but i'm calling it now
2:54 it's gonna look like a dumpster when you upgrade it yeah
2:58 like a bigger stronger garbage can now for the quack butts brought to you by
3:03 the drop.com x focal elex headphones
3:06 they feature the same precise development as other four figure focal
3:10 headphones made at their facility in france and the elexas are handmade and
3:14 individually numbered featuring an open back design full range 40 millimeter
3:18 dynamic drivers with aluminium magnesium cones microfiber ear pads and both
3:24 quarter inch and xlr plugs check them out today at the link in the video
3:27 description now quack butts have you ever felt like your water cooling setup
3:31 needed some freaking laser beams well thanks to alphacool your wish
3:37 has been granted as the manufacturer is now offering laser fittings that will
3:42 show you where your tubing runs should go making measuring them a little less
3:46 difficult if you're one of those hardline tubing folks it uses standard
3:51 fittings and you can pick one up now for about 10 euros just don't expect it to
3:56 fry your adversaries yet
4:01 facebook is reportedly using large numbers of paid contractors to look at
4:06 users facebook posts regardless of their
4:10 privacy settings to help develop ai systems
4:13 now although it might be understandable that facebook wants better insights into
4:17 user behavior the timing is just pretty
4:20 unfortunate on the heels of zucks the future is private talk so it's like
4:26 the future is private except when we don't want it to be and we pay other
4:30 people to make it not private hey look at these oculus headsets
4:35 microsoft's new chromium-based edge browser will come with an internet
4:39 explorer mode for folks who just gosh darn miss internet explorer no who
4:44 really need to access legacy sites that don't play nicely with modern browsers
4:49 although the feature honestly does kind of make sense
4:53 especially for enterprise users who might need to work with older standards
4:57 or access internal systems that are just not available on the world wide web
5:01 anyway so why bother upgrading them it's just uh
5:04 it's just funny because it turns out that ie is actually proving to be harder
5:08 to kill than a nokia 3310 why won't you
5:11 die now the internet was in an uproar recently over just how awful the
5:16 realistic cgi sonic the hedgehog it really was just
5:20 stupendously bad wasn't it so how awful the realistic sonic looked
5:25 in the in the trailer for the upcoming live action movie so much so that the
5:30 director actually relented and promised
5:33 fans a redesign so the film which is being produced by paramount is set to
5:37 hit theaters in november so i'm guessing that the uh the studio folks in charge
5:42 of the character design gotta you might say
5:46 go really fast gotta go fast yeah i got whatever whatever whatever i'm gonna
5:50 watch detective pikachu i'm not even gonna watch the sonic one because they
5:53 got pikachu right in the first place and isn't it voiced by ryan reynolds how can
5:57 you not watch pikachu voiced by ryan reynolds read the next story all right
6:01 oh another movie starring a furry cgi character is coming out in a mere four
6:06 days i'm talking of course about detective pikachu and there's now a
6:10 pokemon go tie-in to help promote the film starting tomorrow the detective
6:15 pikachu character might photobomb you
6:18 while using the app and you'll get other goodies like double the xp and special
6:23 themed avatars this special event will last for a week so go
6:27 dust off your pokemon go because like
6:32 who actually plays that game anymore and then just make sure you don't trespass
6:37 in your reclusive neighbor's backyard because you know i actually see a lot of people
6:41 playing it and that's it for now come back on wednesday where we will trespass
6:46 upon your our neighbor's brains for five minutes leaving behind a lovely uh
6:51 steaming pile of tech news in our place
