0:00 so we have a great video for you guys today actually we have no idea if it's
0:04 going to be a great video because as you can clearly tell
0:07 our mizu 16th not to be confused with
0:11 the meizu 16 i i think that is what this
0:14 is this is no no and it's just funny because they put 16. anyway it's not the
0:17 15th our mizu 16th is clearly still
0:21 shrink-wrapped but we were intrigued by this phone because on the product page
0:26 for it it claims to be water-cooled
0:30 and it's not the only phone to claim that so what the crap exactly is water
0:34 cooling in phones can we can we investigate that by perhaps
0:39 taking it apart we sure think so
0:42 but we've been known to make mistakes from time to time this is probably a bad idea
0:47 speaking of mistakes this video is brought to you by
0:51 did we remember to get a sponsor did we make a mistake
0:55 glasswire allows you to instantly see your current and past network activity
0:58 detect malware and block badly behaving apps on your pc or Android device use
1:03 offer code Linus to get 25 off at the link below
1:15 so step number one would be to open the package
1:18 yeah i mean what else is cool about this phone do you know what else is cool i
1:23 actually don't know anything about this phone why did we even pick this phone so
1:26 it's got a snapdragon 845 yeah so it's pretty flagship we got eight gigs of RAM
1:31 128 gigs of storage there's a six inch screen 3000 milliamp
1:35 hour battery and an in screen fingerprint sensor oh that's cool
1:38 that is pretty cool what other phones have that other than the vivo is there
1:42 anything yeah one plus oh really yeah the 6t
1:45 so it feels pretty phony that is to say that it's genuine but
1:50 like a phone oh to get a complete fingerprint please
1:54 peel the plastic film off so apparently their skin is called fly me i've
1:59 actually never used a meizu mizu meizu phone before
2:03 apparently there is lineage os for it so oh that's pretty cool okay you're really
2:07 not helping it feels pretty uh
2:10 like kind of one plus sexy actually how do we really how do you even do you
2:15 i don't Android no espanol are we spanish no oh geez louise
2:21 well let's see what else is in this this here box while he's taking this hey dual
2:25 sim what do you have well bam a charger look at that wow that is a big charger
2:30 what is it is there another case we get two cases
2:34 we got two cases what the heck really did the camera die
2:39 so while brandon fixes the camera i'm going to go ahead and enroll my fingerprint this is significantly slower
2:45 than the oneplus 6t one like i said i see that it lights up under your finger
2:49 yeah i guess congrats the setting is completed yeah
2:54 all right apps you can't miss oh we better get
2:57 snapchat i want zender file that looks pretty clean yeah let's see
3:01 what about the settings what the heck that looks very iphoney
3:05 what about the camera i've seen worse it's a little bit cool
3:08 what okay hold on i gotta go landscape for that
3:12 terrible okay yeah it's it's not great it's kind of
3:16 lifeless you know like pasty and really white i might just
3:21 be basically what now we do the autopsy
3:26 we might have a what the kids would describe as a bad
3:30 freaking time you're not i wouldn't know that because
3:33 i'm a kid you're not old enough to do the like as the kids would say no that's
3:37 the whole joke though so this just looks like what we're just i say we try and
3:42 take the back off you want to go back well look at the screen it doesn't look
3:45 like that's the thing that separates i bet it does
3:48 let's take the back off what is this this is a fingerprint scanner i don't
3:51 know what the crap that is it is a ring flash
3:56 wow you have some huge pores sorry anyways
4:02 gosh power off you're going to hold the big thing and i'm going to stick it in
4:05 okay the the guitar pick what are you how are
4:09 you going to get it in let me just kind of lick my finger here okay
4:20 that's pretty high there is um not much of a gap
4:25 there right yeah we might need more heat penetrated
4:29 properly
4:33 oh it is it's cooling down yeah it's cooling down it's fine whoops how is it on again
4:40 this is not even showing the overheating thing either i'm gonna go get gloves
4:45 yeah that's a good idea i think he's wrong i think it's screened
4:48 first so i'm just gonna pursue that avenue this time
4:53 why are these all different clubs
4:56 oh hold up wait wait wait wait wait wait we're penetrated boys oh yes that is hot on my
5:02 very bare hands oh there we go
5:08 yeah looks like some adhesive oh that's kind of cool it's holding on to that
5:12 there wow there's no connections hey nice
5:15 what is that that looks like whatever it was only like 400 bucks
5:20 why did you just turn it on i'm just curious okay making sure we didn't break
5:23 it or maybe we didn't break it yeah i don't
5:26 know it seems to be working right this is youtube putting its best foot forward
5:31 security guard prank satisfying slime death wish dangerous riders
5:36 seven riddles that will test your brain that was fun so it works and we got it
5:41 open how are we gonna keep track of where these go i thought we weren't putting
5:44 this back together why aren't we putting it back together just remember it's fine
5:48 no i'm not gonna remember and you're not gonna remember they're probably all the
5:52 same size screws anyway they're probably not why would you say something like
5:56 that that's such a stupid thing to say
6:00 there's actually a fairly good we just voided our warranty is there anything
6:03 under there yeah wait no because there's the
6:07 haptic feedback thing so what is this speaker yeah speaker
6:15 oh those are the buttons oh okay which are those the buttons i don't
6:19 actually think those are the buttons can you imagine if we opened this up and
6:23 it actually didn't have water yeah let's got scammed what the hell are
6:27 they talking about it's got to be the other side
6:32 okay so what you're saying then is we should have gone in from the screen
6:36 i don't know if we can though that might actually don't know if we can we should probably take the battery connector off
6:40 before we continue yeah we probably should oh wait is this a tab
6:44 no no oh
6:49 look at that careful don't bend it too much they thought of that um should we stick
6:54 long probe things under here no no plastic ones please please ah Jake
6:59 okay i still don't know i then took
7:06 look at this it's got like extra antennae mounting spots like lots of
7:10 them fingernails the proper tool that's what lewis rossman told me is it
7:14 yeah wheels i don't know it's weird yeah it's like
7:18 it is oh that's all the symmetry
7:21 we didn't take the sims right out oh hey look there's the copper thingy
7:25 that's it no but wait it probably goes underneath yourself that's their water cooling
7:31 i don't think we have all of it out of there yet it's got to be thin it's a
7:34 phone that's how that works yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
7:38 point four millimeter stick point four millimeters so basically there's our soc
7:45 um everything else has
7:49 shields over it so it's actually kind of hard to tell exactly
7:53 where the storage is if i had to guess i
7:56 would say nan flash is probably under here or dram
8:00 looks about that size um but what we're after is the cooler so you can see
8:04 that's where they've got the thermal compound between it again is presumably our soc and i got
8:10 a big bad news water cooling solution what is it
8:13 i don't think we're gonna be able to get it out of there but we can expose more
8:17 of it
8:21 is that a fart yes
8:24 if we clean up them fine okay i'll be right back
8:30 now the kids have gone to bed we can get some serious work done around
8:33 here nice i feel entirely comfortable being ageist
8:38 to you because you treat me exactly the same you know what it's just because
8:41 you're old okay wow he's doing it with metal yikes is
8:46 that it that's the most we can expose like can we take it apart more
8:51 i mean do we want to be able to put it back together or you don't care at this point
8:54 i don't know i want to give the people what they came for
8:58 we could cut it in half what's inside
9:03 to start like scratching at it Linus rig
9:06 everything oh wow zach's a cool guy i love what he
9:11 does he's just better at it than we are so
9:15 i'm gonna let him do the scratching you know what i don't even care because
9:20 that you know what that's as deep as we're going because i want to flip this
9:24 phone on ebay when we're done so basically
9:28 what is water cooling what is water cooling
9:32 this dude do you want to go grab a prop for us to want to go grab like a water
9:36 cooler oh i was gonna bring a heat sink no Jake
9:39 no you're not watching what what what hey
9:43 can you go get a water cooler oh
9:46 yeah yeah no i know you're talking about yeah okay he was going to go get him i kind of
9:50 need to fart though okay so you want to crack that up you
9:53 don't need a water cooler so basically what you're looking at here
9:58 is i think calling it a water cooler is a
10:04 little disingenuous but you actually
10:07 could make the argument that it's a fluid cooler at the very least because
10:11 what's happening is we've got a flat base so that allows it to make optimal
10:16 contact with whatever type of processor whether it's a CPU GPU soc whatever type
10:21 of processor you're trying to cool and then right under it it really is
10:25 actually very impressive how thin
10:28 they've managed to make this uh this kind of tube shape you might say it's
10:31 kind of like a pipe yeah it gets down to like helps with the the heat you know um
10:37 and also this aluminum heatsink that it's embedded in it's really really
10:41 impressive how thin it is but what it is
10:44 is a heat pipe so it's actually the exact same
10:49 technology that you would find in what we would traditionally describe as an
10:54 air cooler you need water cooler sorry i mean water cooler i'm going to start
10:58 calling them fluid coolers and the reason i'm gonna call them that is
11:01 because the way a heat pipe works is right here okay so first of all these
11:07 the inside of them is usually at very low pressure like near vacuum and then
11:11 in the factory you'll always notice at one end of a heat pipe you're going to
11:15 have a nice clean termination see that and then at the other end you've got
11:19 kind of this mess where it was crimped off
11:23 and sealed so that's because these are at very very low pressure so the low
11:27 pressure affects both the boiling point of the fluid inside and the condensation
11:31 points what happens is here at the heat source even though the difference in
11:35 temperature between here and here the fluid because remember both liquids and
11:40 gases are fluids the fluid will boil
11:44 which will cause it to go to the end of the tube and then over at the end of the
11:48 tube where there is a fan blowing air through it to cool it or
11:53 your hand which is effectively kind of like liquid cooling the phone like
11:57 because your blood is pumping your blood is liquid anyway it's kind of like an aio right yes so
12:02 the point is that um at the other end where that fluid is then being cooled it
12:07 turns back into a liquid and then there is usually on the inside either
12:12 sintering or like some kind of wicking texture to the inside of the heat pipe
12:17 that causes that liquid to wick back to the point where it's heated up again so
12:21 you end up with this kind of this flow
12:25 so is it water cooling not in the way that we would
12:29 traditionally define water cooling because we've typically referred to this
12:33 as heat pipe air cooling but there is
12:36 fluid involved and in some cases heat pipes are actually filled with a fluid
12:41 that is either completely or mostly water so it's it's possible it's water
12:46 cooled but i'm going to call it fluid cooling from now on to be fair they do say water
12:51 cooling do they really water is in
12:55 quotes only water so maybe they're like
12:59 that's fine right the kensington microsoft surface pro
13:03 docking station was exclusively designed for microsoft's proprietary connect
13:07 technology for a seamless dock and charge experience its articulating hinge
13:12 allows you to tilt raise or lay flat for comfortable use in any position it's got
13:16 4k output support with HDMI and displayport that allows dual or single
13:21 monitor use it's got five usb ports four
13:24 of which are usb 3 and one usb type c
13:28 and it comes with the optional free kensington dock works software an
13:32 optional lock module to keep your workstation secure and is plug-and-play

13:43 dislike this video you can hit that button but if you liked it hit like get
13:46 subscribed or maybe consider checking out where to buy the stuff we featured at the link in the video description i'm
13:50 not giving it a real strong recommendation i'd get a pocophone f1 if i had 300 to 400 to spend but anyway uh
13:56 also down there is our merch store which has cool shirts like this one and our community forum which you should totally
14:00 join you should try it lioness tactics Jake level effort right there
