0:07 welcome to an unboxing of a product that's been through the war zone a
0:10 little bit however the internal carton is not in rough shape but we do need
0:15 this outside one so we can just cover the specs so this is the Samsung 900 x4b
0:20 this is an ultra book but it is a 15in LED backlit 400 nit non- glossy display
0:27 where Samsung is also claiming a 100 70°
0:31 viewing angle so this is a very premium Ultrabook this is in their nine Series
0:35 so you know it's not going to come cheap it comes with a dual core i5 which can
0:38 turbo up to 2.3 GHz it also has 8 gigs of memory a 128 gig SSD and all your
0:45 usual Wireless connectivity including Wireless N Bluetooth and Y Dy or
0:51 wireless display so here's the internal carton which uses a nice matte black uh
0:56 finish and silver Samsung Series 9
1:00 lettering you got like the rainbow reflective thing imig okay let's open it
1:04 up uh inside we find a power
1:09 cable a notebook this has been unboxed before I apologize guys I'm re unboxing
1:14 this particular product let's see what we got in here
1:19 probably some manuals and Driver discs and ooh a microfiber
1:23 cloth can never have enough of these
1:26 system recovery media okay get started
1:30 guide of like Windows or Google you can just use Google to research how to use
1:36 Microsoft products cuz they're best of friends these days uh users's guide
1:40 essential guide okay there we go let's go ahead and put all that back in there
1:45 we are pretty much done with the documentation it has a one-ear warranty
1:49 and it comes with a little adapter what's this guy for M uh there we go so
1:54 that is oh okay it's just a micro USB to
1:58 Ethernet adapter it's that it comes with that cuz some laptop manufacturers make
2:03 you buy the adapter for the uh for the low profile ports which I think is sort
2:07 of ludicrous if you're going to build the port into the laptop you might as well make it so I can use it we have wow
2:12 look at that that is a very very Sleek
2:15 uh power brick and check that out that's a Windows COA I haven't seen one like
2:19 that before it's on the power brick itself instead of on the
2:23 laptop wow interesting
2:26 okay slick apparently thinks that's not a very good idea
2:30 um I'm sort of with them on that one CU a power brick is a lot easier to lose
2:34 and not lose the laptop than it is to lose a laptop and like still need your
2:38 Co-op for something so um anyway it is
2:41 ah yes so now we get into the I mean check this out we have to do the iPhone
2:46 comparison because when we have something that is as Slim and Sleek as
2:51 this check that out so it is only 58 in
2:56 thin at the edge that's the reason for needing the lowprofile pork for the uh
3:01 for Wired networking because there just isn't enough room to build in a
3:06 full-size RJ45 port on this notebook
3:09 over what was it over 30,000 hours that
3:13 is labor hours man hours went into the design of the aluminum unibody shell
3:18 that Samsung is using for this notebook now this is a 15in notebook which means
3:23 that in spite of the fact that you are using an Ultrabook you are not going to
3:26 be limited in terms of your screen real estate or your res resolution it uses a
3:30 1600x 900 screen and as I mentioned
3:33 before it is a high brightness uh here we go so we'll show you the uh actually
3:38 let's wait till it gets booted up although Samsung claims it boots up in
3:41 less than 15 seconds which I think we're pretty much uh can we can say is
3:46 verified now check that out that was the entire boot time from uh from start to
3:49 finish wow that's actually really cool so I'd say the uh the side by side
3:55 viewing angle is significantly better than the up down viewing angle however
3:59 screen overall looks pretty good and
4:02 my let's see did I say the resolution already yeah, 1600 by 900 okay so it's a
4:08 15in 1600 by 900 it is extremely thin so
4:12 we're going to do the iPhone comparison here again just to show you guys how
4:15 skinny the top of this notebook is the overall build of it though feels
4:20 excellent like you guys can see that in spite of its thinness here I'll show you
4:24 how much Flex there is to the design almost nothing here and then on the
4:29 keyboard itself self I mean I can't I
4:32 can't do almost anything a plastic shell like triple the thickness of this one
4:37 wouldn't have that kind of rigidity even if it's a really well-designed one the
4:41 keyboard uses a chicklet style and this is not a bilingual keyboard although if
4:45 you buy it in Canada iect there's a I suspect there's a chance you'll you'll
4:48 get a bilingual keyboard you've got a very very large touchpad so that's
4:52 really nice to see um yeah I guess that's I mean what else
4:57 is there to really say ventilation holes are here there's your cooling fan
5:01 although it's not even spinning right
5:04 now oh there's one fan spinning in there somewhere but it's incredibly quiet
5:09 right okay so here let's let's finish let's show okay right right right right right IO and all that okay here we go so
5:13 on this side we have our power in as well as USB 2 headphone microphone mini
5:21 HDMI or is that micro HDMI that's micro HDMI I think very small HDMI okay and
5:26 there's that network adapter Port dad there's a microphone in so it actually
5:30 has a built-in microphone for you know webcamming it up there's your
5:35 webcam don't worry trust me it's there uh two USB 3.0 ports as well as hold
5:46 on sorry guys yep that is a VGA out so
5:49 you will need an adapter for that one uh also we have an SD card reader that's
5:53 kind of nice fulls size SD card reader under a little flap here so I just want
5:57 to make a few comments on the overall build quality of the notebook this is significantly better than the other two
6:01 ultra books that we took a look at um on my NC Tech tips channel the Zenbook as
6:06 well as the MacBook Air it just feels really really really solid the hinge
6:12 feels good too I mean I can with confidence hold up this notebook by the
6:16 edges here and kind of Swing things around like it feels incredibly strong
6:21 considering the petite form factor that we're dealing with here I mean remember
6:24 guys the electronics can keep getting smaller and more efficient and more
6:28 miniaturized but when it comes to you know building hinges that are durable
6:32 the technology is just like you just have to spend a bunch of money on the
6:35 materials there's no uh there's no magic bullet where like you can refine the
6:40 manufacturing process and make the transistor smaller so it's you know
6:43 easier to build a a durable hinge no you just have to actually build a durable
6:46 hinge um I think that pretty much wraps it up thank you for checking out this oh
6:52 actually hold on I'll okay has an8 cell battery didn't mention that before we
6:56 did mention the specs yeah I think that pretty much wraps it up so thank you for checking out this unboxing in first look
