0:07 welcome to my unboxing at the fantex thermal Solutions PHT c14 PE so this
0:13 supports Intel LGA 2011 AMD am3 plus and fm1 and oh is that interesting doesn't
0:18 support LGA 1155 well we'll find out when we open it up but let's have a look
0:23 at what they have to say for themselves in terms of specs okay so it's a heat sink and fan is compatible with lg1155
0:29 even 36 6 and 755 cool okay materials
0:32 copper aluminum for the fins thermal Shield patented okay this that dual fans
0:36 included dual 140 mm fans included cool compatible with 140s or 120s uses an
0:42 updraft floating balance bearing for the fans neat melstrom Vortex booster design
0:48 for the nine blades on the fan that's cool as well heat SN Dimensions you know
0:52 what let's just open it up because usually with heat sinks the beastliness
0:56 and oh that looks good the awesomeness of them is pretty
1:00 apparent once you get them opened up and that looks that looks dead sexy finish
1:06 is perfect no blemishes
1:09 whatsoever got a nice brushed blue oh
1:13 okay I'm sort of sold on this actually all right let's get this opened
1:17 up um I don't know how the packaging works I don't want to uh put
1:22 fingerprints on it or anything okay yeah that'll
1:28 do okay we'll we'll get to this more after oh big fat heat pipes okay
1:34 normally I don't really care about air cooling to be perfectly honest I'm more
1:37 of a water cooling guy but uh some air
1:40 coolers are worthy of being thought that they're cool and
1:47 this appears to be one of them all right packaging is pretty straightforward
1:51 contains all the stuff and the first thing you're going to want to do is get
1:55 it out of the way so you can check out this beastly beastly air tooling heat
2:00 sink so it's a dual Tower design which is similar to other very high
2:04 performance heat sinks on the market such as the coage arrow uh thermal right
2:09 Silver Arrow Noctua NHD 14 comes with a
2:12 wide variety of different uh back plates and whatnot so you got all your
2:16 different uh positions for the back plate there LGA 2011 compatibility is
2:21 achieved using these guys right here so you won't even need the back plate on
2:24 that one cuz it has kind of a built-in one there's your AMD stuff and here's
2:28 all your accessories including clips for up to looks like up to three fans as
2:33 well as the universal hold down that you'll need for all of the different
2:36 mounting options um some thermal compound phmdc thermal
2:41 compound and oh look a splitter they include a splitter so you can run two
2:45 fans natively off of a single header so you'll only be able to monitor the RPM
2:49 of one of them but it's not a big
2:53 deal uh oh four pin pwm to three pin
2:57 adapter just in case you need one seved in white well heat shrinked in right in
3:02 white all right here we go so they also
3:05 included a third fan just in case we did want to run it with three fans
3:09 so uh fans accessories include um soft
3:14 rubber mounts as well as a MOX to three
3:17 pin adapter White sleeved cable love that white sleeves very nice uh bracket
3:22 oh cool they include one of those brackets so you can mount it above your graphics card that's neat little extras
3:27 like that really go a long way as well as two noise reduction D
3:33 ABS all right the included fans are more of an oem Affair not a big deal
3:41 though holy crap this thing is so cool
3:46 looking do want okay so let's take a
3:50 look at the heat sink itself so you've got your branded covers on the top those
3:54 do nothing for performance but they look really neat they're a bit of a darker
3:58 blue than the aluminum fins themselves you can see these are a bit of a lighter blue these are a bit of a darker blue
4:02 but it's not that noticeable if you're looking at it like kind of from an angle
4:05 like that or anything like that these are anodized aluminum fins up here these
4:09 are copper heat pipes that are nickel plated and look how thick these heat
4:13 pipes are five heat pipes go through the base and that's all there's room for
4:17 you've probably seen coolers that have more heat pipes than that but these are
4:21 thick heat pipes these what are these these must be 8 mm heat pipes at the
4:25 very least let me see if they have anything to say about that yep 8 mm Heat
4:29 pipes and actually give me a sec guys so
4:32 there's a few more things to cover one of them is their okay two things
4:37 patented Pats so this is a physical antioxidant thermal Shield which
4:41 apparently increases the cooling performance and reliability while
4:44 deflecting other thermal radiation from other heat sources so in in theory
4:49 anything hot that's nearby should be less likely to radiate heat that warms
4:53 up these uh these uh aluminum heat sinks
4:57 and it should also improve the performance of of the aluminum heat
5:00 sinks as well to have this coating on them okay so there's that there's also
5:04 patented cpsc which is cold plasma spray
5:07 spraying coating technology so that is
5:10 the method of fusing the heat pipes to the base that they're using that
5:15 apparently improves the thermal conduction from the base to the heat
5:18 pipes which in turn will allow the CPU to be cooled more effectively uh a
5:23 couple more things just fan mounting options so what I would generally
5:27 recommend if you're using the two fans that are included would be blowing
5:31 through the fins here you can see that these uh actually not you can see but
5:36 these fans are relatively low RPM fans I'll just double check what they spec
5:39 for so they're only at uh uh 1,200 to
5:42 1300 RPM and what that means is that in
5:46 order to achieve optimal cooling with them with this particular heat sink
5:50 fantex has designed the fins to be fairly widely spaced so yes more surface
5:56 area is in general better when it comes to Cooling appc appliations however if
6:00 you don't want to use extremely high RPM extremely high pressure fans then you
6:04 want to give some space as well in order to make optimal use of the you know
6:09 space in between it so that the air can actually like fit through there so this
6:13 is what it'll look like when it's installed basically like a beast uh hold
6:17 on let me let me get this a little bit better positioned it'll work better if
6:21 you're using the actual like mounting hardware for them obviously so this
6:27 is come on Linus you can do it so this is what it'll look like when
6:32 it's installed and then if you install the third one it'll be like that much
6:37 more again and it'll be pretty big I
6:40 mean to give you guys some uh some idea of the scale of this thing ouch here it
6:45 is next to a thermal right Silver Arrow
6:49 which is sort of pending a CPU upgrade
6:52 that I'll just move so that's how big it is thank you for checking out my
6:57 unboxing and first look at fantex oh no hold on ah right something else to
7:02 mention it is available in a variety of colors and comes with a 5year warranty
7:05 so colors available are red orange blue silver and black so thank you for
