0:20 your we crank your engine okay crank engine could kind of work we plug your
0:24 tailpipe if you know what I mean oh
0:28 wow um anyways we have topics this week
0:32 that aren't devote cranking engines the first one is WD acquires about tail
0:39 pipes WD does not acquire tail pipes WD
0:42 acquired sandis for $19 billion yeah
0:46 they stuffed 19 billion up their
0:49 tailpipe and that made them theirs prison rules man oh my god um also
0:56 YouTube did something with red YouTube read it's different than YouTube blue
1:02 it's less sad oh I feel bad for YouTube
1:07 listen up here's the story about a little I love that song guy that lived
1:12 in the red world and he paid for YouTube
1:16 and got some cool stuff except people don't like it but we'll talk about that
1:21 later sorry people don't like it Korean 10 terab PC and 8 tab SATA drives also
1:26 the USA is enforcing mandatory drone
1:30 registration I'm trying to more on that
1:33 in a minute every time I say more on I'm like that must be a stupid news
1:41 topic and
1:45 intro maybe that's the person's last
1:48 name more on that in a minute
2:11 visit gaming. logitech.com to learn more about like cool sweet Logitech stuff
2:16 yeah also freshbooks.com for cool
2:19 freshbook stuff yeah and
2:23 dollarshaveclub.com Linus for cool dollar stuff oh wait sorry shaving
2:27 shaving that's what it is shaving and butt wiping
2:30 okay and then I'm going to put this
2:33 here see how I blanked it now it'll load
2:36 right away next time what you just have to remember MP4 at the top to do no I
2:41 did I did I did because that's the end screen of the intro MP4 but we always
2:46 forget to do that well technically I'm
2:50 not the one that's in control yeah technically maybe if you would actually
2:57 um you know tail pip
3:01 I don't know where I'm going with this uh so we've got a great show for you
3:05 guys today we've got a ton of topics uh some of which are interesting some of
3:09 which are total shite but we won't talk about those ones for too long and um I'm
3:13 getting an ad for Wow Scouts versus zombies that can't be good someone take
3:19 oh this looks like one of those terrible joke movies
3:23 yeah Scouts Guide to the zombie apocalypse wow that looks awful sorry a
3:28 bunch of people in chat were saying that they have video feed um refresh the page
3:33 everything is good I was just making sure it's working I've got a lot of
3:36 people talking about Star Wars trailer hype I have not seen it what no no no
3:42 there's a reason there's okay I have a
3:46 policy I don't read the back of books okay I do not watch trailers okay that's
3:52 very fair that is my policy because I
3:55 take spoiler alerts to like like I have
4:00 no idea you just baited everyone don't read the chat today h well you can't
4:04 spoil a movie that's and and like there were no plot points I've talked to
4:07 Brandon about it already I've talked to Brandon which is all I need to know
4:11 Brandon says the trailer was flipping awesome I think there were minor PL
4:14 points okay well either way I will I will ignore it because I know the the
4:18 chat is going to be half full of people trolling anyway okay yeah yeah yeah so
4:22 it's fine it's fine they'll they just won't believe it the twitch chat will
4:26 literally cancel itself out yes in this case y it doesn't in most cases one type
4:31 of troll working against the other type of troll effectively trolling each other
4:36 um so anyway I have not watched it the internet because like even Game of
4:41 Thrones I have literally no idea what happens after the first book because I
4:45 am determined to wait until either all the books are out or George RR Martin
4:49 Dies at which point I will read all the books that are available and then I will
4:54 watch the entire show and I will binge watch it and that will be that's funny
4:57 because it's exactly my plan that will be exactly how it's going to go so I take this whole thing very seriously so
5:01 I don't even I watched the first Force
5:05 awakens trailer I let myself have that I
5:09 watched it I kind of went yep those are x-wings those are lightsabers this movie
5:14 cannot be bad oh it's char No no he's
5:17 not there that's good um so I am going
5:20 to uh so I'm going to wait I'm going to wait so people were asking for
5:24 Impressions my impressions are that I am cautiously optimistic that Abrams is not
5:29 going to do anything to my tailpipe with the new Star Wars movie and you know
5:34 what's funny I was looking at so that he will in just the right way yeah in just
5:37 the right way and he'll look me in the eye um so I was looking at top grossing
5:42 movies of all time and you know what's funny is even corrected for
5:47 today Star Wars is not that compe like
5:51 it's good it's good to be clear it's good corrected for today though yeah cuz
5:55 like you correct for inflation so like yeah but that's not fair cuz population
5:59 increased people who would be able to go to the
6:02 movie also increases but if anything that's Advantage modern movies so like
6:07 gone yeah Gone With the Wind is still the number one grossing movie of all
6:11 time corrected for inflation so uh here
6:14 let's let's just bring it up it's top grossing movies of all time there's like
6:18 a Wikipedia article which hopefully is somewhat somewhat accur see it's purple
6:21 I was just looking at it um so yeah when when you actually look at it Avatar
6:26 crushes everything by a long shot followed by Titanic Jurassic work world
6:29 is number three what what I had no idea
6:33 Jurassic world performed that well uh beat Avengers like really like I didn't
6:38 know that Jurassic Park as a as a
6:41 franchise had here I'll I'll screens share with you guys did you see Jurassic
6:45 world I haven't I want to I heard it wasn't that great I didn't think it was
6:48 very good I thought the only good thing about it was the The one dude that I
6:52 can't remember the name of right now I'm terrible with actor names yeah we know
6:55 if we ever make a show about movies don't bring me out yeah you're not invited yeah yeah
7:00 um but yeah so I think I'd have fairly good comments but I wouldn't know who anyone is and that would be kind of
7:04 weird but like looking looking at this I kind of go you know you compare Marvel
7:08 right like Marvel Comics and the reach that something like that has compared to
7:13 the reach of the Star Wars universe and I would have expected even the crappy
7:18 Star Wars movies to perform relatively
7:22 better than that compared to like all the Avengers and all these Iron Man 3
7:27 all these Marvel movies like this is this this is the top Star Wars movie I'm
7:31 surprised Pirates of the Caribbean stranger Tides did more than like Toy
7:34 Story 3 Iron Man here let's look at the
7:38 corrected one so here's the corrected one so Star Wars itself the first movie
7:44 actually Compares very favorably but the
7:48 other movies actually were nothing special and and Phantom Menace is
7:52 probably the most telling one so Star
7:55 Wars fans are fans of Star Wars kind of
7:59 regardless of whether they go see the movie or are even a fan of the movie I
8:03 guess was my realization like Star Wars is so much more than the movie so I'm
8:06 not even sure if this movie being amazing or being a total flop will
8:11 actually impact anything about the Star
8:14 Wars universe and its success as a franchise because you could argue Star
8:19 Wars is the most recognizable brand that
8:22 came from a movie ever that came from a movie
8:27 Yes didn't the books orig no no no Star Wars Star Wars the an New
8:33 Hope was the first Star Wars thing okay
8:37 um and and yet they actually you know
8:41 compared to especially in recent times
8:44 like in in the generation that you know I grew up in haven't really performed
8:50 that well at the box office I mean I'm not saying a billion dollars is anything to sniff at I'm just saying that for
8:54 what an international phenomenon Star Wars is I I just would have expected it
8:58 to to outperform Pirates of the Caribbean you know there's a fair amount
9:02 of people saying like random things in chat like Harry Potter I saw a couple
9:07 times more than one person that's from a book for sure
9:11 yes yeah I mean I like Frozen did 1.27 n
9:16 billion I'm kind of looking at this going really really like I I mean yeah
9:19 it was a good movie I saw it but like a lot of people saw Frozen I know a
9:24 lot of people saw Frozen I I get it appealed to all ages Let It Go and all
9:28 that noise but I just if you compare the
9:33 the fleetingness of what Frozen's impact
9:36 will be on on popular culture like yes
9:41 it will it's heav it's highly impactful now and if they do a sequel then it will
9:46 it will get some more momentum but you compare that to what Star Wars has done
9:51 over the last what 707 I wonder what
9:54 Global warming's Effect will be on the Frozen franchise
10:01 yeah I think that's been done with Ice Age so you know where Glo where like the
10:06 the planet heating up affects the no I mean it'll be kind of like not really a
10:11 thing at one point it'll be like because it's based in so what where is it based
10:16 in Queen Elsa is going to combat the Norway oh I don't know it's based in
10:21 like an actual like the and the the kings that visit and stuff are from like
10:24 actual places oh I did not know that yeah it's I read something about it
10:28 Scandinavia somewhere I think right yeah yeah yeah so like those places might not
10:32 be Frozen at some point no but I thought
10:36 it's like her power that made it frozen or some crap oh so that it won't matter
10:40 yeah okay okay so you're bad at actors and movie plots well no cuz they're from
10:46 a place that was like when when she's a kid they're like pulling ice out of the
10:49 lake okay tell me this Indiana Jones carries a whip or a crowbar a whip okay
10:56 just making sure because I don't know you might have had confused with
11:00 beginning the movie they're cutting ice out of the lake to take back for like
11:04 cooling stuff down like they're in a very cold area right but that's cuz they
11:08 don't like her power is also freezing things yeah okay all right all right oh
11:13 no our polar bears will have nowhere to go people are like Luke just
11:17 stop what I wasn't even wrong apparently
11:20 it is Norway so it's very cold there that's good you should just stop you
11:25 should just stop we should both just stop that's it for the show thanks for
11:29 we're done thanks for tuning in to movie chat Friday we will see you guys next
11:34 time all right why don't we do an actual topic here um the US is planning to
11:41 enforce mandatory drone registration
11:44 with the transportation department by Christmas they are taking this ball and
11:51 running with it this is wait what well
11:54 how this is a stupid stupid article how
11:58 does Apple owing a bunch of money for patent violation have anything to do
12:02 with drone registry way to go stuff.tv you don't even know what your article is
12:07 about this is like a two line art I'm going to go to nbcnews.com and I'm going
12:11 to link people to that yeah link people to that so let's go ahead and pull lot
12:15 more interesting so according to NBC News the US federal government plans to
12:19 require all flying drones to be registered with with the US Department
12:23 of Transportation by Christmas and
12:26 basically this will what's up oh is the NBC site not even loading down I don't
12:31 know man damn maybe usnews.com anyway so
12:36 they're going to be working with the Drone manufacturers to put a system in
12:40 place that and and with retailers presumably that at the time of purchase
12:44 will require people to you sell it register that drone so there's going to
12:49 be a lot of issues obviously the system
12:52 is not going to be perfect immediately and people are going to find a way
12:55 around it and there's there's no clear
12:59 system in place for what happens to all the drones that are out there today what
13:03 happens to hobbyist drones say what if you build your own yeah if you build your own I mean maybe they would make
13:07 you register the chassis but you could
13:10 build your own motor but then who cares maybe it would be the controller board
13:15 or something like that like if you could get the pretty sure you can make like uh
13:19 I almost just had a name of a mod on our for erino uh I think you can get uh like
13:24 Raspberry Pi or whatever ones yeah you
13:27 you can so so it's it's it's not really clear to me how they would regulate
13:31 these these custom drones but the point is that um I have a feeling this is
13:35 going to be kind of sort of like this is going to
13:39 get a little bit controversial but I think it's I have a feeling it's going to be kind of sort of like gun laws but
13:43 even easier to get around where like the gangsters aren't going to Care like the
13:47 people that are going to do something illegal with it aren't going to care and they're going to just go around it and
13:51 then it's just going to be annoying for the people that try to use it properly
13:54 yeah so they're apparently trying to take public feedback um into a camp as
13:59 the as the rules are formed uh but there's there's a lot of there's a lot
14:03 of questions will there be a registration fee uh should certain
14:07 drones be exempt from registration what constitutes a drone you know are are we
14:12 are we talking like this thing now I
14:16 mean I think there there are some guidelines with respect to the the
14:19 functionality of them but I mean it's not like in the next five years you
14:23 wouldn't expect to be able to buy micro drones that can mostly pilot themselves
14:27 that have uh firstperson View cameras and as the electronics get smaller and
14:31 cheaper so so so would I have to register this thing I mean if that gots
14:35 if you know like a parrot mini drone get sucked into a jet turbine it's going to
14:39 disintegrate it's not going to
14:42 yeah um and it obviously can't fly that
14:46 high so this all comes on the on the heels of a a huge number of obvious
14:53 violations of the existing laws where people are flying them next to airports
14:57 flying them next to Forest fires uh flying them around in the city at night
15:02 when you know if it fell out of the air for whatever reason let's face it Flyway
15:05 drones are a thing where if it fell out of the air it could hit someone's dog or
15:09 child or um you know yeah otherwise cause a problem y
15:14 yeah so the Consumer Electronics Association predicts something to the
15:18 tune of 700,000 drones will be sold this holiday season so that's all that's a
15:23 lot of potential potential hazards uh
15:26 flying around in the air I can understand why they're doing it I can understand why drone enthusiasts are mad
15:31 but most of the reasonable drone enthusiasts that I've either talked to
15:35 or seen posting online are directing their hate at the people who are just
15:40 screwing around with them screwing around with them doing particularly
15:43 stupid things because let's face it the laws in Canada are kind of dumb like you
15:48 literally cannot fly a drone pretty much anywhere in a in a city because you you
15:53 can't be within I forget what it is I think it's like a 100 meters of an
15:56 animal or person and it's just like okay
16:01 uh you can't be I I forget what the rules are with respect I think you're
16:05 not allowed to be in a park you're not allowed to this you're not allowed to
16:08 that like there's all this stuff you can't be within a certain amount of animals or people but then you also
16:13 can't go to a park so you just can't go to anywhere right so basically you it it
16:17 pretty much is like yeah you can't fly them um so I'm just like
16:23 okay but no one was really enforcing that until people started doing really
16:28 really stupid St stuff with them so that's that's basically that's basically
16:32 where we're at on that uh this is kind of a big deal uh our original article
16:36 here is from overclock 3d. net let's go
16:39 ahead and pull that up but WD has been
16:43 confirmed to be in the process of acquiring SanDisk for $19
16:49 billion so for those of you who are not familiar with Western
16:54 Digital they make hard drives uh for those of you not familiar with SanDisk
16:59 they make uh flash products so you know SD cards compact flash cards OSS ssds as
17:04 well uh basically what Western Digital is seeking to do here should be fairly
17:08 obvious they are trying to gain actual
17:12 manufacturing capacity for solid state
17:15 products because they've dabbled before WD has had hybrid drives for example
17:20 they had that um that black squared product that actually had like a 128 gig
17:26 SSD and a hard drive and they were like in one and it was like kind of a bizarre
17:29 product yeah um but unless you own
17:34 manufacturing capabilities you're always going to be paying someone else to
17:39 manufacture The Flash chips for you so
17:43 you're never going to be price competitive in a commodity market like
17:46 storage so Western Digital basically
17:50 went okay let's bite the bullet now's the time we're going to go ahead we're
17:53 going to acquire someone with actual Fab capacity and they bought SanDisk for uh
17:58 for for 19 billion now it is contingent
18:02 on Western Digital is getting something to the tune of I think $3 billion in
18:06 funding for X percentage of their company from some Capital firm something
18:10 something so so there's actually two different proposed prices one if that
18:14 deal goes through which will be sometime I think second half of 2016 okay and
18:18 then there's this price and then there's another price if it doesn't go through
18:22 which it is expected that SanDisk would reject if that were the case so WD is
18:26 not putting themselves in a bind where they might not actually have the cash to
18:30 do this when the time comes uh which is pretty smart but it looks like if all
18:35 goes according to plan WD will have the
18:38 entire gamut covered p s now it's official it's official that that the
18:43 deal which is contingent upon those
18:47 conditions is in place okay yeah so the
18:51 like the the actual shares and cash have not actually changed hands um so this
18:56 will allow Western Digital to bring hard drive ssds and hybrid products to Market with
19:03 cost costs on both of them the only thing that WD would then be missing is
19:08 actual actual like not because they can
19:12 manufacture the chips themselves so they wouldn't actually be developing Nan
19:17 flash technology like someone like Micron Intel with their joint venture or
19:21 uh like someone like uh Samsung is doing
19:25 so so there you go I mean this is really interesting um like one of the notes
19:28 says in the doc this is combining two massive storage providers and like WD as
19:33 everyone knows are legendary in terms of hard drives and then SanDisk is huge
19:38 actually in terms of like camera storage too SD cards very well respected both
19:43 are very well respected for their quality and the longevity of their product so so this is a pretty huge
19:48 merger actually yep uh SanDisk has been working very closely with tashiba
19:53 another actual nand technology company
19:56 um and the only statement that I've seen about that so far is that that will
20:00 continue so uh yeah what a what a really
20:04 interesting what a situation for someone like a Seagate out there kind of looking
20:10 at this going okay well that leaves us
20:13 uh not a whole cuz there are not a lot of companies that actually manufacture
20:18 flash chips like very few very few
20:22 companies own Fabs and now W A lot of them are in Partnerships and stuff
20:27 already yep so best of luck to uh best
20:31 of luck to seate and
20:34 yeah I'll be interested to see how they tackle this uh here this is interesting
20:39 YouTube Red so why don't we why don't we jump right into this um original article
20:44 here is from recode YouTube will make you pay to see
20:49 some of its new videos which is actually and like a lot
20:56 of people's coverage of this topic actually a little misleading they are
21:01 not going to be necessarily YouTube's videos I am
21:06 aware that there are some creators we are not among them there are some
21:09 creators out there that have been approached to do exclusive like like
21:13 YouTube Originals content but it's not
21:17 100% clear to me that YouTube would own those videos and it's also not 100%
21:22 clear what would happen to that content in the very long term um it's possible
21:27 that like our arrangement with vessel where the content is behind a pay wall
21:32 and then comes out onto the free platform later so so it's not clear if
21:36 it would be a similar Arrangement or not but I do want to clear up some of the
21:41 general misconceptions about YouTube Red because much like our video where we
21:47 announced that we were going to start launching our videos on vessel and in
21:51 the first 30 seconds of that video I said we are not abandoning YouTube half
21:56 of the comments under the video why are you why are you staying on YouTube why
22:00 are you abandoning YouTube that was insane that was actually insane and it
22:04 feels like from even some fairly large
22:07 creators I've seen some really ignorant statements about this like did you even
22:12 bother to read the YouTube blog post
22:16 just read the blog post this is this is very simple okay if you're not being
22:23 commissioned to make YouTube Originals
22:26 content it's business as usual
22:29 everything is normal everything is fine everybody calm down nothing is changing
22:34 ad supported YouTube is not going
22:38 anywhere and I doubt will ever go anywhere because ad supported is a
22:43 legitimate model what YouTube's doing is they are adding a tier they're adding a
22:48 premium service that exists on top of in addition to the the ad supported free
22:55 model and what you get in return for a I think it's A9 .99 subscription is you
23:00 get YouTube music one month free uh after one month free you get YouTube
23:04 music which um and then you get YouTube
23:07 gaming which YouTube gaming I'm actually not 100% sure what the benefit is of
23:10 having a subscription but you get YouTube music which means that you can
23:14 um you can listen to music in the background you can uh you can download
23:18 things uh so in okay so hold on let stay focused on red anyway so so YouTube
23:22 music's not launched we'll talk about that later so YouTube Red allows you to
23:25 save videos to watch offline it allows you to play back in the background while
23:29 you do other things without interruptions both of which are very cool features and they allow you to
23:34 watch videos with no ads so what that means is your membership fee that you
23:39 pay and it's actually not 100% clear how
23:43 much the split is so it looks like they're saying their quote is the vast
23:48 vast majority of Revenue will go to creators but it's also been mentioned
23:52 that creators would be paid the standard 55% um and then and then the way that it
23:58 works is the money from your YouTube Red subscription will be split among the
24:02 creators that you watch according to watch time which as we know is YouTube's
24:06 primary metric that they're looking for in terms of of gauging the popularity of
24:12 a channel and the and the one should release Excellence of a video and all
24:15 that kind of stuff like a 24hour random video just so you can be like I want to
24:20 support this channel mainly and just idle it when you're not there that's
24:24 called gaming the system and we don't participate in that our one and a half
24:29 hour our one and a half hour podcast not
24:32 withstanding so playlist okay so there
24:37 there are a lot of questions here that that do remain even though the actual
24:41 premise of this is very simple no ads being able to download videos officially
24:45 and watch them later and uh being able to to have them continue to play back in
24:50 the background all of download videos officially yep so you can download them
24:54 watch them later yeah so through the app you can CH just read content or of all
24:59 YouTube content is red content that's another thing a lot of creators are like
25:02 super upset that I meant like red Originals oh yeah no nothing to do with
25:06 red Originals all content so a lot of creators are upset that they're being
25:09 forced into this agreement I I don't really see why they care why does it why
25:13 does it matter nothing our audience at Super doesn't matter because they could
25:17 just download the videos anyways yeah changes they probably know how to do
25:20 that yeah really it changes nothing all it means is that
25:26 instead of an AdSense Revenue that you get for that view you're getting a red
25:30 Revenue split share and in theory based
25:34 on based on yeah in theory it would be higher unless people are very very heavy
25:39 consumers for their $10 a month which they're not like I've run the numbers a
25:43 view is not worth a lot of money like a single view so and another thing too is
25:49 some some creators are are are upset
25:53 okay so first of all Why YouTube is forcing all creators into this is
25:56 because that's the whole service is
25:59 YouTube without ads so yeah you're going to need as a
26:03 Creator you're going to need to sign up and it's all beneficial to you because
26:07 people can either choose to pay or they cannot and then we've got creators that
26:10 are kind of uh worried about well hold
26:13 on a second that means that I'm not getting my ad revenue for that so then
26:20 but hold on what if I'm oh hold on what if I'm in an area where YouTube Red
26:23 hasn't launched we're a perfect example YouTube Red is launching in the US
26:27 exclusively for now so what if someone's a YouTube Red subscriber and they watch
26:32 our video but we're not a YouTube Red
26:36 Creator we're not getting a payout or are we so this is this is all not very
26:41 clear but what I will say to the
26:45 creators out there and to the viewers out there is I wouldn't stress about it
26:49 I I really don't think this is a big deal I was looking at it last night and
26:53 um I was looking at it last night and only about a third of our views in the
26:59 last month on YouTube were monetized all of our videos have
27:03 monetization enabled so whenever you click on our videos and there's no ad
27:06 that means that view was not monetized or you have ad block um so what that
27:11 means to me is that even if a so so 40%
27:14 of our audience is in the US so it's so even if a fraction of a fraction of our
27:20 audience subscribes there's plenty of plenty of video views left over for
27:27 people who who are not having views monetized thankfully we have a lot of
27:31 people that help us in other ways like the Amazon affiliate codes like the
27:35 shirts like the Forum contributions but even without that my point remains
27:41 business as usual on both the Creator side and on the viewer side you
27:47 shouldn't care with the one exception being the YouTube original content but
27:53 the cold hard truth there is that if YouTube is funding this content to be
27:58 created and it wouldn't have existed without it then if you want it that
28:03 badly much like the PewDiePie game is a perfect example do you think you should
28:07 get that for free because you watch him on YouTube or something like if it's
28:11 something that wouldn't have existed otherwise then guess what you got to pay
28:15 to play um a lot of people have asked us what we have planned for YouTube Red so
28:20 far nothing um my YouTube contacts have
28:23 not talked to me about it at all it's not being rolled out in Canada so I can
28:27 understand why they wouldn't have talked to to me at all um we have committed
28:32 many times to our viewers that our content will always be free it may be
28:36 windowed released periods it may be this it may be that whatever but you will
28:41 always have access to all of our content for free so depending on the structure
28:45 of the YouTube Red payroll pay wall we might do something with it but only if
28:49 it would be a windowed release and we could release it to everyone eventually and so so yeah right now business as
28:55 usual and if you don't like it you probably miss misunderstood what it was
28:59 because it's nothing it makes no difference y I plan to subscribe cuz I
29:04 already subscribed to Google Play music for eight bucks a month so it's another $2 a month for to not see ads on videos
29:10 so yep I'm going do it but um does it still have the family thing uh I'm not
29:15 sure I'm not sure but if it does you can still be my
29:19 family um sorry for people couple people started mentioning I'm doing weird
29:23 things with my jaw and stuff I'm currently deaf in my left ear and it's
29:26 actually very weird being on the show
29:30 that's why I'm also doing this looking behind his head so I can hear him with this here sorry we should have switched
29:35 sides today I've got a lot of people asking what this means for vessel nothing um our vessel contract is still
29:40 very much in place so our videos will be a week early on vessel and anything we
29:44 were to do with YouTube Red would be
29:47 within the confines of our existing release schedule so if it was if you
29:52 know YouTube came to us and said something like okay you know we're going
29:56 to do windowed release for YouTube Red content and I was kind of looking at it
30:00 going okay so we'd have a one we window on vessel another week window on red and
30:06 I I I don't know if we're going to do a two we two we release window here um so
30:12 we would probably not participate at least until the landscape becomes more
30:17 clear to us um in that case but uh right
30:21 now as a Creator everything's very up in the air clear as mud but it
30:26 also totally doesn't matter because you can completely ignore it and everything
30:30 will be the same yes which is fine which is good if you don't want ads and you
30:35 want YouTube music and stuff sure if not
30:39 don't worry about it yeah I'm totally uh I'm I'm totally going for it as soon as
30:43 it's available I'm super super stoked are we
30:47 that deep into the show already it's 520 how is it 520 520 uh why don't we do
30:51 this next thing real quick then sure uh large Esports Max fit Max fing match
30:56 fixing thank you uh revealed in Korea one coach and two
31:01 players arrested so basically I'm going to get a link going fairly soon but if
31:07 lius could take over because I'm currently posting a l why is there an NC
31:11 ad on teamliquid.net that's awesome yeah
31:15 I can buy uh oh this must be like a Google ad or something I was I was
31:20 looking at uh server server Essentials R2 last night mine was TD isn't TD a
31:25 Canadian Bank yeah yeah it's localized Toronto Dominion so Prime Starcraft 2
31:30 head coach Gerard and programmers Yoda
31:33 and whoa I bought this last
31:38 night yeah I didn't know that I looked for a camera once on one website and
31:43 like every website I went to that had Google ads after that had this kind of
31:46 stuff but I didn't know ncx was this clever I didn't know they
31:51 targeted ads that like that back when I
31:54 worked there they we didn't have any of any any we didn't what people were
31:58 viewing and then hit them with ads about
32:02 it so so this is anyway this is I wonder if Google has a tool or something that
32:07 seems likely yeah um all right sorry go ahead I don't did I say programmers I
32:13 meant PR Gamers my bad um Yoda and bong
32:16 bong there's two bees on bong bong I hope I'm saying bong bong correctly have
32:20 been arrested in connection with match fixing in Korea sorry boom b boom B Bo
32:26 anyway yeah sorry I'm not familiar with this particular
32:29 gamer uh where was I again 12 individuals have been arrested in total
32:33 including Financial backers and a journalist who act acted as a broker two
32:37 of the financial backers were ex gangsters Who provided the funds uh for
32:42 betting to occur on illegal websites five matches were found to have been
32:46 fixed I think it was around like nine grand um us yeah Gerard will uh was
32:53 charged with receiving equivalent of about about 9,000 USD um all these
32:58 figures are apparently approximate and Yoda to intentionally lose a match in
33:02 GSL season 1 yeah yeah so uh so there so there you
33:07 go so basically um they're going to jail
33:11 yep and they've been banned for
33:14 life um uh from the uh Korean Esports
33:19 Association and uh so and kespa I don't
33:24 know if we call it that but I don't care uh has said that even if the criminal
33:27 suit even if the criminal charges don't end up uh putting these guys in in jail
33:33 or anything like that they're still going to be pursuing uh a civil case
33:36 against them um they're yeah basically they're they're taking it very seriously
33:40 and so they should this kind of stuff is
33:44 total crap and undermines all the efforts of everyone else in so many
33:48 people in in Esports the fight to make Esports as legit as possible has been
33:54 huge and crap like this continuing to happen is just hard and yes we know it
34:00 happens in every sport I get it but they're they're currently going through
34:05 growing pains and it makes it that much worse
34:09 yep I'm going to turn down our saturation a little bit had someone
34:13 complaining we're too saturated all right so what else what else we got this
34:17 is just a quick one but uh here we go
34:20 Akiba pc. watch. impress. co.jp is our
34:25 source for this one this is great um so so pretty much we've got confirmation
34:30 that there's an 8 tbte SATA SSD in the
34:35 making right now with a 10 tbte PCI
34:38 Express SSD also in the making right now
34:42 is amazing I know right oh my
34:46 God PC hotline man that's great oh my goodness
34:53 we're probably the only visitor on this site right now look at how far it goes
34:57 down when there's no content left it just keeps
35:03 going there we go okay so here we go
35:07 that's the site and it's over and it's finally done
35:13 and a banner ad I I really hope these guys aren't paying too much for that ban
35:17 ad placement cuz that is terrible oh wck um
35:22 so basically there's not too much to say about this other than that as expected
35:26 SSD capacity continues to rise uh this
35:30 is a Korean company called Nova chips that's working on them um they're using
35:35 a technology called hyperlink Nan so it's this Daisy ring architecture that
35:41 outpaces the parallel bus architecture used in industry standard n flash
35:45 products apparently um yeah point to
35:49 point ring you can pre-order it today on osc.com in Japan but you would basically
35:55 be a complete idiot if you were to do that because the pricing is about
35:59 $10,400 for the 8 TB SATA 3 SSD and
36:04 $15,600 for the 10 TB PCI Express SSD
36:09 wow and they're not estimated to ship for another 3 to four months depending
36:13 on the skew wow so given the volatility of flash pricing I would probably just
36:19 wait till it's on a shelf maybe it'll be $8,000 honestly that's the conclusion of
36:24 so many things these days it's just just just wait
36:28 just wait honestly at one point in time pre-ordering games wasn't that bad well
36:33 yeah they only asked for like a retainer yeah yeah you just put your five bucks
36:37 down and you could actually cancel your pre-order yeah now it's like NOP no no
36:41 it's yours now we gave you early access it's yours
36:45 nope buy the whole thing immediately so and the season passed by the season pass
36:49 too we'll give you like five bucks off yeah what the hell is that oh my god um
36:55 on that subject here we've got collectors itions not coming with
36:58 seasons passes yeah I know right what
37:01 it's like well we did give you like a sick you know metal tin yeah say it came
37:06 with a metal tit case collector's edition limited edition oh damn you know
37:10 what everything is technically limited edition that's true there is not an
37:14 unlimited amount of anything you're a limited
37:19 edition um so on that subject it's
37:22 unusual for a hardware maker to get involved in this kind of nonsense but
37:26 Sapphire maker of graphics cards put an
37:30 opinion piece on their
37:34 blog about pre-ordering and you can obviously tell
37:38 based on the Assassin's Creed Unity screenshot that they got going on at the
37:42 top of the blog post here that they're not in favor of pre-ordering uh but yeah
37:47 basically they're just like yeah blah blah blah paay a test it hurts the whole
37:51 industry today you have to put all this money on the table um
37:57 that's really I had no idea this was even in the dock 50 DLCs of pre-ordering
38:02 gray that's kind of a cute uh subheader there yeah but yeah there is so B
38:07 basically the the the the qu the the question at the end is this so there's
38:11 nothing about the current prepaid model that helps or is good for PC Gamers or I
38:15 would say Gamers at all how do we fix this it's easy stop pre-ordering the
38:20 group pre pre-order thing is so
38:23 crap God I hate that Tomb Raider did it
38:26 too and they're just like oh the more people that pre-order convince your
38:30 friends no shut up don't convince your
38:33 friends God like drug sales tactics well
38:38 it's it's like when get your friends hooked when the stupid elementary school
38:41 is like yeah go to everyone's door in your neighborhood and make them buy
38:44 random crap those assemblies which should be straight up
38:49 illegal God those are [ __ ] I cannot
38:52 believe at any level sorry this has always pissed me off even when I was a
38:56 little kid I can't believe it's legal on any level to take everyone out of class
39:00 put them in an assembly and give them a sales pitch that they have to push towards their parents so they can win a
39:04 stupid toy what the
39:09 hell how how is this okay anyway now in
39:13 certain cases it was used as a legitimate fundraiser for legitimate
39:18 things that you legitimate needed also
39:23 also I won the five the 5B the 5B
39:28 Hershey bar at my school one year so get
39:32 wrecked you're probably just jelly I literally never did it you're literally
39:36 just jelly and my parents I don't even know if they would have stopped me or
39:39 not but I was like this is dumb your parents are literally jelly I got a real
39:43 job and I could have just bought the five you know how much chocolate I had
39:48 Get Wrecked I could have just bought it
39:51 my my dad made me share it with my class I was so mad like Beyond
39:58 beyond beyond all mad like I had to help cut it up oh into
40:05 chunks to give to all my classmates I was like I would rather just not eat it
40:10 I would I would rather mount it to the wall
40:14 forever that totally sounds like you
40:17 too no I W this uh let me see if I can find the one
40:22 yeah here there's I've got some pictures online this so this is the one that I
40:26 this is the one that I that I won yeah was one of those yeah yep 5B Hershey bar
40:31 apparently they're more common than I had thought got lots of people
40:35 apparently there's a whole thing oh there's a whole thing of them yep there you go herey 5 pound chocolate bar
40:40 everyone's excited I would have been excited too if I didn't have to share
40:46 it uh what were we talking about po line is we're talking about pre-ordering
40:50 games we ended up there um speaking of
40:54 pre-ordering the HTC A9 oh yeah um okay
40:59 what's their point I don't get it oh that was this is so mean the ver the
41:04 verge's headline how to
41:08 copy okay see how they cleverly capitalized the T which normally
41:13 wouldn't be capitalized ah ah because of that campaign yeah yeah so the iPhone
41:19 clone could be the one I'm waiting for
41:23 um so basically it's kind of a a mid tier spec phone it's got a Snapdragon
41:28 617 which is super not that exceptional
41:33 um it's got a 1080p front facing camera which is which is kind of nice um I do
41:38 support the better selfie camera thing um because yeah for better for worse I
41:43 do find myself taking them from time to time with my kids that's my excuse take
41:48 them okay sorry not not not not caring about selfies but what is what is this I
41:53 don't understand HTC President says we're not copying app it's Apple that
41:58 copies us what oh okay so that that's a
42:01 separate article we're discuss that later but no we can we can tie that in
42:05 here so I wanted to give a brief rundown of the phone it has kind of middling
42:09 specs um it's good enough uh it comes in
42:12 at a fairly reasonable price in the US so it's $3.99 off contract uh it's not
42:17 clear to me if this will be a carrier phone or not D D D D D D D not sure the
42:23 Verge article doesn't cover it um but basically yeah it's got supposedly a
42:28 really great headphone jack so like a better deck that's actually something a
42:31 lot of guys are talking about uh rumors about the Galaxy S7 seem to indicate
42:35 that Samsung is putting a lot of emphasis on on better better sound
42:39 quality they're putting a really great deck in it um personally I haven't
42:43 really had an issue with anything from the past couple of generations and I
42:46 suspect most people don't either but yeah hey what going improve things now
42:51 yeah yeah where you going to improve things well the battery yeah improve the
42:55 battery than thank you God now I don't
42:58 have to say it um well apparently HTC thought they could improve their phone
43:03 by basically copying the iPhone from
43:08 pretty much every possible angle so this is Again The Verge like holy crap the
43:14 only differences that I can see between this and an iPhone are that it says HTC
43:19 on the back um like there's more buttons on
43:23 this side instead of that side and the
43:27 camera bump is in the middle instead of there I mean even looking at the bottom
43:31 there's there's more pictures here even looking at the bottom oh my god wow yep
43:37 yep that's that's a very similar thing that you're doing there pretty crazy hey
43:41 wow that's closer than I even thought and
43:44 so so in light of the accusations that
43:48 HTC has copied Apple's industrial design
43:52 uh HTC uh president has come out and said we're not copying out Apple it's
43:57 Apple that copies us we this is this is great we came up with the idea of
44:02 putting an antenna band on the phone like this apple copied that no I don't
44:07 think that's a design choice I think if Apple could avoid an antenna underwear
44:11 line they would probably do
44:15 it oh no um poor
44:20 HTC just so silly with that said so so
44:25 this this phone doesn't seem to oh to clear the 3.99 uh pricing is pre-order
44:30 only so it's going to be going up to I think $4.49 but don't quote me on that
44:35 um basically I see where they're going with this because while this phone is
44:40 not really capturing the hearts of enthusiasts I was actually on the XDA
44:43 Developers podcast earlier this week which I don't know if they've posted yet
44:47 because I should probably like pimp that spot it was actually pretty good podcast
44:51 I enjoyed it um while it's not
44:55 necessarily winning over like the tech heads I can see this selling in a store like
44:59 if I was shopping in a store and I didn't have enough money for an iPhone
45:03 and this HTC the one thing they have done well is the fit and finish of the
45:08 phone so if they achieve that fit and finish and they compromis some specs to
45:12 have it feel really good in the hand I think they could sell a ton of units I
45:16 think there's potential there for that
45:21 um yeah I mean I'm really disappointed that it has a really really really small
45:29 battery it's uh 21 something 21 something it's about 2100 milliamp hours
45:34 so uh HTC claims that the battery life with the phone is going to be very good
45:39 but my sort of counter to that would be well you're running Android marshmallow
45:43 it'll be one of the first phones with Android marshmallow so you're running
45:46 Android marshmallow uh which is probably where your power savings is coming from
45:51 so every other phone that actually also has a decent battery is also going to be
45:55 running marshmallow assuming it gets the upgrade so this is a very apples to
45:59 oranges comparison or at least it it would be if uh Android phones ever got
46:04 updates a whole other conversation Sor it's a 2150 milliamp
46:08 battery um I guess I don't know sponsor spots yes sure so sponsoring today's
46:12 episode we've got Dollar Shave Club Dollar Dollar
46:17 Shave Club Dollar Dollar Shave Club Dollar Dollar Shave Club do they have a
46:22 jingle no that wouldn't be it no no no
46:26 it wouldn't anyway so the point of Dollar Shave Club is that if you want to shave your face or your legs or your
46:31 chest or your arms or your butt crack whatever it is that you want to shave
46:35 Dollar Shave Club has high quality razors and they ship them straight to
46:39 your door so if you're worried about going out in public with a hairy butt
46:43 cracky that could be a thing you I mean you think about you know what
46:48 what or n Beach what' Your mother tell you right always wear clean underwear
46:52 because you never know when you're going to get hit by a bus right shave your
46:56 butt crack don't go out without shaving your butt crack that's the new sale
46:59 anyway sorry that's not the new sales pitch so basically high quality razor
47:03 straight to's shave butter would probably help with that MH for a few
47:06 bucks a month and one WIP Charlie they've got lots of great they've got
47:10 lots of great bathroom supplies uh razors Dr Carver shave butter that goes
47:14 on clear so you can see what you're doing might need a mirror for certain
47:17 things to see what you're doing but that's besides the point or under the point
47:23 or anyway um
47:27 where was I going with this right one WIP Charlies to clean the affected area
47:31 before you get no actually the one wipe Charlies are supposed to be separate
47:35 from the shaving products they're just butt wipes the point is for a few
47:38 dollars a month visit dollarshaveclub.com Linus and join the
47:42 club today also I must I must mention they are the one wipe Charlies are uh
47:47 labeled as butt wipes for men but all of these products have apparently been used
47:51 by female members of our audience or girlfriends or friends of male members
47:56 of our audience y so they could be like one wipe
48:00 Charlies Char yeah that's another one
48:04 wipe Char um no no I didn't mean French I
48:07 meant like Charlies the feminine oh okay well freshbooks.com
48:11 freshbooks.com is an easy cloud-based
48:15 solution to keeping track of the accounting and little details like the

48:36 invoice to your customer and you can tell if it's been read see if they

48:44 actually super important yeah you helpful you could go ahead and pay that

48:51 credit card through fresh books uh basically just helps you keep track of
48:55 all those little details in one place with you on the go so you don't have to

49:10 today and don't forget to tell them that we sent you and our last bot here is for
49:15 the Logitech g633 Luke is going to put on the headset
49:20 I've actually had a lot of people asking me for a review of this headset along
49:24 with the 933 so I was waiting for the
49:28 930 wow so I I can hear you less now I
49:31 was waiting for the 9:33 to arrive so that I could do them both at the same
49:36 time because I really don't think I need two separate videos of of these products
49:40 but the long and short of it is they've got 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound with the
49:44 Logitech gaming software they feature 40mm prog audio drivers and that's
49:49 really not the important thing about them it's really funny how like
49:52 headphone marketing comes down to all these like points that actually mean
49:57 nothing because it's all about the tuning of the drivers as opposed to the
50:01 actual size of them but so the pro G yes
50:04 that matters more that's the key whereas gamers are so used to being marketed to
50:09 with like driver size more cores that
50:13 you kind of have to get in line or you're going to have a hard time selling your headset really I I I don't think
50:18 Logitech should worry about that stuff MEAP pixels yeah megapixels I know right
50:23 megapixels and megahertz and color contrast so they're compatible the PC as
50:27 well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One they've got adjustable RGB lighting and
50:31 custom tags and they feature a cardioid boom mic the very best sort of boom mic
50:36 because an omnidirectional boom mic would be super duper dumb have you seen
50:40 how the boom mic is super ninja uh yeah
50:43 actually yeah they showed it to me at pack do you want to show them though it might be uh it's available now on Amazon
50:47 you can pick them up at the link in the video description which I will also be
50:51 posting in the twitch chat which is now
50:55 did to go like over me so they can see it CU my shirt's black so I put it over
51:01 my throat that they can see it yeah so the point of the mic positioning is just
51:05 because it's it's actually really funny to me how many microphones you literally
51:10 cannot position optimally because most
51:13 people think the best place for the mic is right in front of the mouth that's
51:18 terrible because you get that pop pop pop pop pop theives you actually want it
51:23 at the corner of your mouth so having the length be adjust
51:27 is as important as having the height be adjustable for a
51:31 microphone plosives plosives I love it
51:34 when words kind of like are the thing that they're describing mhm like
51:46 cacophony I noticed that you know how I'm deaf in this year or whatever it's I
51:51 still hear bone conductivity stuff so when I was nodding my teeth rattled and
51:55 it was like super loud so I just kind of kept doing it okay in the shower this
51:59 morning the the like water falling on my
52:03 head sounded so cool we need to have a segment of the show called cool story
52:09 Luke all right so Tesla's auto pilot got
52:13 a speeding warning to be clear it was a warning not a ticket but it was
52:19 basically doing what 75 mph in a 60 Zone and like okay there's some things if I
52:25 could get to the topic that was help a lot there's some things that people have
52:28 to realize I'm not at the topic yet but it's like you're still supposed to kind
52:32 of drive the car like we talked about that last week like you're supposed to
52:38 still keep your hands on the wheel it's supposed to kind of try to figure out
52:42 zones but it's not going to stop you from going too fast um
52:46 so yeah it can know the speed limit without necessarily enforcing it on you
52:51 yeah and it it yeah I don't know so like
52:55 and also this was this was the video in question shows it being used on City
52:59 roads where the beta is actually only currently intended for Highway use where
53:04 15 M well 15 miles hour over is still
53:07 significant but not as big of a deal as it would be within the city like you're
53:11 a lot more likely to get a ticket within
53:14 City Limits than you are on the freeway um like it doesn't enforce a speed limit
53:19 at all it's able to detect the speed limit or it should be able to detect the
53:23 speed limit but it doesn't enforce it in any way so so some folks are saying the
53:27 driver is at fault and the autopilot did what it was intended to do um as soon as
53:31 it detected a possible Collision it issued a collision warning and
53:34 disengaged and the driver was prompted to take control of the vehicle and this
53:38 is why musk went straight up said okay
53:42 this is beta Keep Your Hands on the Wheel this is beta and people dis
53:47 disregarded that immediately there's so many videos on YouTube of like oh look
53:51 it's driving itself and I'm like don't do that not the point you're going to
53:56 ruin self-driving cars for all of us yes
53:59 please don't screw up right now yeah thank you we need you to just
54:04 participate in the beta be a good beta tester and just go on with your life or
54:08 don't also would be fine um speaking of
54:12 going on with your life how could you go on with your life if you didn't have one
54:16 of these amazing what LT ugly Christmas
54:20 sweater design when show shirts I haven't actually seen these what the
54:25 green one is awesome yep the there's a red one the green one is Ballin and
54:30 we've got like I didn't know there was so many different colors we've got like gray and stuff so legitimately have not
54:35 seen these before yeah I I'm I'm definitely getting the green on there's
54:38 still a couch yeah I know well all Ed
54:42 did was like kind of modernize the
54:46 existing fist design so both of our
54:49 shirt Graphics are replaced by Christmas trees there's a Christmas tree in the
54:53 background and there's like wait so are
54:56 we going to get the shirts that are on the shirt or are we going to get the
55:01 shirts we're going to get these that we're looking at right now okay yeah so
55:07 uh these are over at teespring.com Christmas no I like the green I think
55:11 the green is the ugliest one Green's pretty fantastic for a holiday sweater
55:15 so I'm I'm pretty stoked my holiday sweater last year was green and yours
55:19 was red so this year we can go you green and you I saw mine in the in my drawer
55:24 today cuz I was pulling out a pulling out my keep on digging hoodie which was
55:28 awesome because uh Ubisoft did something stupid if I recall correctly um and I
55:34 was talking about it on netlink today so I was wearing my tee keep on taking sh I
55:37 was like yeah baby um but uh but yeah I am super
55:42 excited about this design it's going to be awesome I don't think I I don't think
55:46 there even was a minimum goal for how many of these we were expecting to sell
55:50 like I think this is very much just to like we kind of wanted some hey if
55:54 you're into this then cool we're getting them I want one I want more than one
55:59 yeah I'm definitely getting one cuz I think it's awesome yeah um Nick told me
56:03 that there's some kind of complicated roll out of these like we're doing a
56:07 campaign on Teespring and then it's like a short one and then we're doing another
56:11 one or something anyway I don't know for now teespring.com whenn
56:16 Christmas all right what else we got going on here this is I love this kind
56:21 of news where it's just like yeah Microsoft
56:27 news.com Microsoft confirms the surface book is two times more powerful than a
56:33 MacBook Pro okay then so it's okay Nick I don't
56:38 care um so basically they they they said
56:42 something along the lines of that during the original unveiling of the surface
56:46 book and then many articles out there were kind of going well hold on a second
56:53 what the what the crap are you guys actually talking about so Microsoft
56:56 claimed this was the claim it is ounce for ounce pound for pound the fastest
57:01 13-in laptop ever made anywhere on the planet so when asked for clarification
57:06 they gave the following statement our validated performance claims are for the
57:10 Microsoft Surface Book with an Intel Core i7 and 16 gigs of RAM and custom
57:14 discre NVIDIA GeForce GPU against the MacBook Pro 13-in with Retina Display
57:19 with an Intel Core i7 with 16 gigs of RAM we used thirdparty benchmarks to
57:23 test the best available Surface Book against the best available MacBook Pro
57:28 but what they're not saying is what benchmarks cuz you could run a game on
57:32 it and be like yeah it's twice fast so um it's really good yeah which would
57:37 have zero applicability to me as a Surface Book buyer like what I'm going
57:42 to game on this thing you for real it's like just cuz you guys call something
57:45 XBox doesn't make it gaming MH like that console that they released
57:51 well oh dang that's a little rough yeah
57:55 sorry that was it's best for watching TV mainly Sports um I don't know like like
58:00 you said at the very beginning it's from Microsoft news.com so I don't really
58:03 care at all I'll wait till someone else validates this like us are we getting
58:07 one well no uh yeah I bought one uh and Microsoft news is even this is not
58:11 Microsoft's own site it's just microsoft.com but they're even saying
58:15 like this is stupid you have told us nothing okay and because we already know
58:20 like you can't you don't just get to defy the laws of physics our core i7
58:26 based on a slightly newer design and a slightly higher clock speed and actually
58:31 very similar performance per CL Pro throttle is twice as fast no the MacBook
58:35 Pro doesn't throttle if it does it doesn't much what one throttle do the 2015 MacBook performs about half as well
58:41 as it could in multi-threaded workloads and that's another thing is it's because
58:44 we don't know what benchmarks we know nothing about the workloads and it's
58:48 basically meaningless speaking of things that are
58:52 basically meaningless this is great Fallout 4
58:56 the disc will not actually contain the
59:00 entire game I hope H that's so stupid it's
59:06 apparently in some effort to stop piracy
59:10 but as everyone ever should know that will mean absolutely nothing um so yeah
59:18 hopefully it comes with the vast majority of the game because a lot of
59:22 people that I know these days including me at this point are still interested in
59:27 physical games because of download cap yep it's a lot to download some Modern
59:32 games like there's quite a few modern games they're like 50 gigs if you have
59:35 to update Star Citizen like oh God it's
59:39 a lot of data and every single time I do that like 50 gigs is 10% of my download
59:44 cap for the month for the month yep so
59:47 like if I download a game or two like oh dang there goes 20% of my download cap
59:54 holy crap like oops so buying physical games is still a thing for quite a few
59:58 people and if you leave a huge chunk of your game off that can be a problem so
60:02 hopefully it's just like a couple key files that are small yeah that's kind of
60:06 what I'm hoping so the PC will require activation on Steam the console does not
60:11 um yeah Ian I get using steam as DRM I I
60:15 especially get if the key that they provide is also a steam key so that I at
60:20 least have the option to download it because I mean not that I'm condoning
60:24 this but that at least gives Gamers the option to download it at work or
60:28 something and take it home on a thumb drive which I'm sure you've probably
60:33 done already I've done that tons of times we don't have a bandwidth cap here I've abused that to no end me too I've
60:39 come to work with flash driv so many times yep that's like why steam is
60:44 installed on my work computer yeah I mean it on Steam it particularly helps
60:48 but on some of the other ones where it's much more difficult to download the game
60:51 files and then just drag like I really I really don't understand if anyone from
60:56 EA or Ubisoft is watching right now drag
61:00 and drop install is like half the point of steam for me being able to put all my
61:05 game files on a Nas and then just drag
61:08 and drop a game over to my SSD that I want to play at that moment versus
61:12 downloading the stupid thing again has a huge value like and and you would get
61:17 rid of a lot of this whole data cap issue because you know you got your
61:20 group of gamer friends or whatever so you take turns being the sacrificial
61:24 lamb to download the game game and then just share it on USB driver like there's
61:28 still a place foral dat sharing every
61:32 time I go to a land party uh you make sure someone shows up with the USB hard
61:37 drive that has everything on it so and you just pass it around whenever I don't
61:41 have a problem with online validation of the license that's fine but make it make
61:46 it simple make the files easy and make the files easy yeah um so here's a rumor
61:52 and the uh original
61:56 original post here seems to be from Nintendo forums so I'm really not sure
62:00 how this qualifies as news but it's in our DOC for some reason so we might as
62:03 well talk about it if for no reason other than to talk about how console
62:07 rumors should all be completely ignored
62:12 because most of them come from console fans and no offense but it seems like a
62:18 lot of the really rabid console fans have no idea what the hell they're
62:23 talking about when it comes to Hardware the Xbox One play
62:28 4K remember that it's like remember how
62:33 big of a thing that was yeah it's like
62:37 actually 720p on like everything and you
62:40 know what this the stupid thing is you can't even talk to these people because you're like okay let's let's take a step
62:46 back for a minute here okay it has an HDMI 1.4 Port okay so let's let's take a
62:53 step back from that and let's look at it an HDMI 1.4 Port no no no the Xbox one
62:58 is not magic no it is not magic okay so let's take a step back again not magic
63:03 it's not magic okay HDMI 1.4 that means
63:07 3840 by 2160 30 FPS Max okay so you're
63:13 either playing at 30 FPS which is not cinematic no no no no it's not cinematic
63:18 or you're playing at 1080P and then they didn't even get that
63:23 or you're actually going to end up playing at 7 cinematic
63:28 960p oh that's rough um anyway so the
63:32 rumor here at any rate is that um and
63:35 part of this makes a little bit of sense because relative to what console gamers
63:41 are used to um an updated Nintendo console might look like something super
63:45 powerful uh right now uh because
63:49 Nintendo has gone ahead with that rumored strategy it looks like of more
63:54 frequent release Cycles I mean the other
63:57 console guys are are also rumored to be
64:01 working on Replacements much sooner than the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 got
64:05 replaced but um now we're we're seeing rumors that Nintendo is
64:09 actually pushing forward with the Nintendo NX and we could be seeing it
64:13 relatively soon so a faster refresh cycle Midway through a longer cycle from
64:18 your competitors could put you hardware-wise in a much more competitive
64:22 place without spending more this is something that we've talked about a lot
64:26 um regarding future proofing the concept of future proofing on the PC where
64:31 actually compared to buying a single $5,000 computer you are much better off
64:37 buying a modest $1,500 computer today
64:40 modest waiting well relatively modest
64:43 versus going completely like over the top and quad SLI this and that buying
64:47 buying just sort of a bang for the buck computer now waiting 2 years while
64:51 you're having a great gaming experience with that buying another one then you
64:55 have like an extra computer waiting another couple years buying another one
64:58 that strategy you spent $500 less and I guarantee you by the end of that period
65:02 of time by the time games are coming out that are actually leveraging the better
65:05 Hardware that last computer you have is way better than the one that you would
65:09 have bought for five grand in the first place this is something we've talked about time and time again you only buy a
65:13 super expensive computer if you just don't care if you're just like whatever
65:19 don't care then that's fine that's cool go for it but there's even better
65:23 reasons for stuff like water cooling because a lot of times you can step
65:26 those up very easily things like uh well
65:30 monitor is not so much anymore I used to say that but monitor technology is
65:33 moving so fast right now yeah uh speakers okay speakers a great pair of
65:39 headphones um actually I think I think peripherals are changing slowly enough
65:44 now that you buy a great gaming they like a a little crazy burst they kind of
65:49 stopped and then now it's kind of okay you either want cherry or kaiwa switches
65:54 and kind of razor switch k um so so so I
65:59 would say yeah you buy peripherals things you interact with every day I do
66:03 believe in spending a fair bit of money on but the actual like the CPU or the S
66:07 Storage is a great one never over buy storage just get what you need and
66:11 expend it as you go anyway so the rumor
66:14 is they will have incredibly powerful Hardware in the Nintendo n x and it was
66:19 said that one software demo included with the kit crunches so many polygons
66:24 that it's currently impossible to run at 60 FPS using a current generation Intel
66:28 CPU and near topof thee line graphics card which means
66:35 nothing
66:38 nothing can't emphasize that enough it means nothing so the point of this rumor
66:43 topic is that we should ignore
66:46 rumors um and the next rumor yeah and the next rumor the Snapdragon 820
66:52 rumored to be 50% more powerful than the Samsung exos 7420 which actually makes a
66:57 whole ton of sense because finally for the first time in a while we've got a
67:02 manufacturing process shrink that will account for that 50% performance
67:06 Improvement pretty much right there and back to you
67:11 Tom and our next rumor nope not a rumor
67:14 no no more rum Microsoft is apparently is there more rumors okay let's see if
67:19 there more have more rumors
67:23 uh uh uh it's rumored that China is
67:27 still hacking the US okay that's not too
67:31 surpris it's not really rumored that's more accused they're denying it um of
67:35 course of course they are wow we've actually still got some great topics
67:39 Samsung Galaxy S7 specs leaked alth okay okay okay okay we got another
67:44 rumor boys yeah we got another rumor oh this one's from wccf wccf
67:50 T so basically so they just got a picture I love I love it when the rumor
67:55 article just have a picture of the current product cuz it's like yes this
67:59 rumor is so unsubstantiated that we couldn't even find a render that that a
68:04 user created we actually just need to use the current phone um so the S7 is
68:09 apparently getting this this is great I love it when a phone rumor it's rumored
68:14 it will feature better performance better multimedia capabilities and an
68:18 improved camera not a battery NVIDIA's new
68:23 flagship graphics card rumored to to include better display interfaces faster
68:29 processing and more RAM maybe even Cuda
68:33 course more Cuda cor you have got to be
68:36 kidding me um so basically that that's the rumor
68:40 though 20 megapixel camera
68:44 um uh exos 8890 or Snapdragon 820 it's
68:48 not clear if they're going to do one or the other or a split strategy they have
68:52 done that before different processors in different markets
68:56 um let's go back to something that's that's not r as rumor meal yeah um oh I
69:00 wanted to talk about this what another wccf tech article actually but uh uh one
69:07 of the recent um FastTrack builds of
69:10 Windows 10 has introduced a new prompt
69:14 when you try to switch your default browser from Edge it was already super
69:19 annoying where it actually is like can you confirm versus just immediately
69:25 applying it once I click Chrome um so it
69:28 had already did that but apparently it's something along lines of give Microsoft
69:31 Edge a shot just like come on you guys Edge is
69:37 a piece of trash it's almost as bad as Bing I'm
69:41 sorry almost as bad as Bing and you know
69:45 why did they change how you change program defaults why do I have to go
69:48 into some stupid menu now yeah that's so dumb they're trying to make it harder um
69:53 so let's bring up um let's go to let's go to bing.com let's try and search for
69:58 something um so this this was something I was looking for the other day uh Dude
70:03 Perfect social blade
70:06 okay user Dude
70:09 Perfect oh that must not be the real dude perfect hold on a
70:14 second okay oh must be Dude Perfect
70:18 TV yeah okay so it like super gave you
70:23 theong except that's not it what nope
70:26 not it either it only got 150,000 subscribers I think it's a secondary
70:29 Channel or something okay maybe the oh no wait that's oh oh hold on a second
70:36 here it is it's Corey cotton because he's been grandfathered in under the old
70:40 rules he had a bad name that that wasn't changed oh okay so I was searching for
70:45 this I'm like how did this not find this so every time I use Bing like I swear
70:49 every time I use Bing and it didn't even manage to bring me the social blade page
70:53 every time I use Bing it's like why do I hate this this is why first hit Cory
70:58 cotton social blade this is the real
71:02 dude perfect Channel with all six million of its subscribers and all that
71:06 crap it's like Bing you're even ripping off Google search results you still
71:11 can't get them right you still are not even
71:14 close why don't I use Bing that's why because every single time I use it like
71:20 probably half the time I use a web browser I'm trying to troubleshoot something and I swear you can put in
71:26 quotes an exact error message in bing it manages to find something
71:30 else kind of garbage that had nothing to do with Edge though yeah sorry back to
71:35 back to Edge so basically they're just like give Edge a shot have you given
71:38 Edge a shot yeah I have I don't like it I have not when you first when you first
71:41 launch it it hides your stupid it puts
71:44 your stupid address bar in a different place yes is I'm just like why do I have
71:48 to click here to move the address bar here who thought that was an intuitive
71:51 design no one I hope um
71:57 yeah uh anyway sorry where I was going with this is Google's been slinging some
72:02 crap at Microsoft for sort of their behavior with Edge and making it more
72:06 difficult for people to switch to Chrome but I actually noticed something
72:09 absolutely hilarious on uh the iPhone
72:12 the other day and I I wish I could screen share this with you or something but I'm really not set up for that so
72:17 that but I you'll just have to take my word for it so in Google Docs when you
72:22 when you click on a link that you want to open okay you go over open link this
72:26 is great the menu is from from top to bottom download
72:32 Chrome open in Safari or cancel and you
72:36 cannot say don't ask me again so for Google to be slinging crap
72:43 that's pretty rough about this kind of stuff it's
72:46 like yeah can you not please cuz it's
72:49 not like you're not guilty of this too that's pretty rough like that's some
72:52 pretty brutal stuff like I act like try trying to read um trying to read the
72:57 articles from the wow doc earlier today the number of times I almost
73:02 accidentally downloaded Chrome was pretty frustrating and I use Safari on
73:07 the iPhone now uh because Force touch is freaking awesome for web browsing or 3D
73:12 touch or whatever they call it I don't care um but the pressure sensitive touch
73:15 screen right do we have anything else um
73:20 yeah there's a couple more cool things this is really neat the the Apple patent
73:23 for um an active screen shattered screen
73:28 protector so these drawings are really cool so basically um in much the same
73:32 way that hard drives are capable of using accelerometers to detect that
73:36 they're in freef fall and brace for an impact Park the heads um Apple has
73:41 patented A system that would allow Corner little like rubber or some kind
73:45 of protectors to pop up when the phone detects it in freeall and keep the
73:50 screen from impacting the ground directly very cool technology would love
73:55 see this fully protect it but it will help it will help it's a whole lot
73:59 better than nothing that's true which is what we have now because like if you have a rocks still fall well if you have
74:05 the phone fall with the screen with the rock hitting the middle of it it won't
74:09 matter at all but if you drop it on a tile floor that it'll help you know or a
74:13 concrete floor or wooden floor like there's a lot of places you can drop it
74:16 where it would help so here's the proposed mechanism that would have the
74:19 protector kind of roll up inside the phone interesting so basically I guess
74:23 they still don't intend to give me better B batter life but at least my screen won't shatter this is very
74:28 beneficial for Apple along with the way that they stealthily mostly waterproofed
74:32 the 6s uh because the reseller and
74:35 tradein market for the iPhone is huge
74:38 business for them so preventing shattered screens and water damage is
74:43 actually in Apple's best interest for the sake of that whole ecosystem
74:47 protecting the resale value of these products yeah very cool very cool
74:53 stuff um talked about Sapphire blog post already talked about China yep yep
74:58 Sprint find who cares another ISP fine for doing another stupid thing oh this
75:02 is great uh Facebook is draining your
75:05 battery because it's tracking your location so this is actually some oh
75:10 Facebook has identified two issues behind the battery drain the company
75:13 announced and said it has solved the problem with an update so I I would like
75:18 to see if I log into Facebook now on my Droid Turbo if it still drains my
75:22 battery right yeah um but there you go apparently this is resolved I I guess we
75:27 didn't pull it off the dock um oh eaco
75:31 Peter Moore criticizes HD remasters and
75:35 backwards compatibility so kind of went and took the high road on the one thing
75:40 and then went and was kind of a butthole on the other thing cuz like I can think
75:44 of a lot of reasons why backwards compatibility is super important reason
75:48 number one my Wii's optical drive is
75:52 dead so if my Wii U which I don't have
75:55 one but if I ever were to get a Wii U and I wanted to play Wii games on it if
75:59 if I were to get a Wii U it would be super cool that it could play Wii games
76:03 because Hardware that is end of life and
76:07 is not being manufactured anymore can can die and that's a thing so backwards
76:13 compatibility is actually super cool um as for criticizing HD remasters I have
76:17 very mixed feelings about this this is something I wanted to disc I don't mind HD remasters at all I'm okay with them
76:24 too I would actually super love for there to be a remaster of Final Fantasy
76:28 6 for example I'd love for there to be a remaster of warwind yeah I don't mind
76:32 remasters at all not even slightly some it's a little bit frustrating when it
76:36 seems like all a company does is remaster old games yep but I'd rather
76:41 they remaster their old good games than make new CRA yes I also agree but maybe
76:47 we're just getting old there's a sad thought I kind of
76:52 doubt it to be completely honest yeah who cares
76:56 all right fair enough remasters of old
77:01 movies don't really work the same
77:05 way was I I'm sorry I think you changed gears on me a little bit there was I
77:09 talking about movies no oh okay you're talking about us being old but it's not
77:12 just cuz we're old oh because I don't just like I still like the nostalgic
77:17 value of old movies so do movie reboots work for you or no it depends us not I
77:22 would say there's been some pretty good ones
77:25 like what though let's have a look okay Google can answer this for let's let's
77:28 give Bing a shot oh God top movie
77:32 reboots it's probably been good like a few times movie remakes okay um okay so
77:39 they managed about.com okay let's let Google try top 10 movie
77:45 remakes all right oh look at that we get
77:49 oh I don't I don't know if some of these are really that applicable remix uh
77:53 movies fre mentioned on the web W this is Google let us down cuz I'm pretty
77:58 sure no one weren remade remake True
78:01 Lies um pretty sure that's not a thing
78:05 oh like H yeah that's very interesting
78:08 okay so anyway okay well let's find out which one of the top linked articles is
78:12 better so about so the Magnificent 7
78:16 haven't seen it Casino Royale okay there
78:19 there's there's a there's a wait hold on a second what that's not a remake
78:25 H okay what some may not consider this a
78:31 remake but George Lucas acknowledges a
78:34 debt to the Hidden Fortress as a source of
78:37 inspiration
78:46 what okay all
78:49 right uh all right so let's have a look at this
78:53 one three 10 to Yuma top 10 best remakes
78:57 the fly okay I haven't seen either of those
79:01 they're both from before I was born
79:06 well okay I don't they're not better
79:09 because they're not really a thing because reboots I'm definitely
79:14 okay with I mean looking at I loved the way Star Trek got rebooted some people
79:17 might hate on me for that reboots I think are okay like like I joked on
79:23 Twitter about how like the only movie that matters is hackers and it should
79:27 just be remastered and rebooted and Hollywood should just quit it was an
79:30 obvious joke some people thought I was serious which was weird um but like I
79:36 don't want them to remake hackers right that would be the worst hackers doesn't
79:41 make sense in 2015 hackers make sense when it was
79:45 filmed right and it was great back then and like I don't know I don't know you
79:51 know what else would be better in a year that wasn't 20 15 fake reviewers this is
79:57 great I am so glad to see Amazon going
80:00 after people for this I'm always glad when I see good Amazon things in the
80:03 news because like we pimp Amazon at the end of like all of our videos we're like
80:08 yeah buy from Amazon with our affiliate code it's cool um so this is a great
80:12 thing that they are definitely doing for the industry uh so they're actually
80:17 going after fraudulent reviewers that
80:20 are using multiple accounts and ordering empty Parcels to avoid ction and who are
80:25 working with manufacturers to post fake
80:29 five-star reviews on the website so the
80:32 defendants named as John do and referred to only by their usernames offered to
80:36 write fraudulent reviews for as little as $5 and this is an Amazon statement uh
80:43 takes the credibility of its customer reviews very seriously an unhealthy
80:46 ecosystem has developed outside of Amazon to supply reviews in exchange for
80:52 payment and I mean things like verified owner do help a lot I generally speaking
80:58 ignore anything that's not a verified purchase on Amazon yeah but that doesn't
81:02 change that the like the overall star rating is affected by all of them one
81:06 thing Amazon could do actually this is kind of a smart idea sometimes I have
81:10 those if if anyone from Amazon is watching maybe give us a way to filter
81:15 um the verified purchases from the non-verified purchases in the star
81:18 rating that would be super cool
81:22 um yeah so I I I guess that's all there is to really say about it other than
81:27 that that practice sucks and we hate it everyone in chat's freaking freaking
81:32 out about Fallout 4 but the Fallout 4 is done for like three weeks or something
81:37 two and a half weeks so yeah you got a collector's edition right yes very
81:43 narrowly yeah um there was there was wave one which like I was at work or
81:49 somewhere I was doing something so I didn't have a chance to get it and then
81:53 there was wave two which I didn't hear about until it was over cuzz they like
81:57 stores randomly got more stock like all over the place but there wasn't that
82:00 much stock and I didn't hear about it so I didn't get the collector edition thing
82:05 and then a while later I was trying to see like oh I wonder how much they are
82:09 on like eBay or something cuz if it's like slightly more then sure but I knew
82:12 it would be ridiculous and it was like $700 and I was like okay nope not doing
82:18 that obviously so on Twitter I'm like does anyone know of anywhere where it's
82:22 not ridiculous and some dude's like oh I have a huge backlog and I'm just going
82:25 to cancel my pre-order so you can just take it I was
82:29 like wow that's pretty nice so he messaged me on the Forum and we worked
82:33 out everything and it's going to be fine this is so funny uh I can't believe we
82:38 didn't mention this uh YouTube calling
82:41 sorry back to YouTube Red them calling it YouTube Red like really did no one at
82:48 YouTube figure out the similarity to another online video site that's also
82:52 red and also has two name I I just can't
82:56 even I can't even I just can't even
83:02 like yeah this week's man show brought yeah you know here why why don't we
83:07 let's end the let's end the show and let's uh let's kick into Afterparty mode for a couple minutes here because I got
83:11 a couple sort of not safe for w show topics um so let's go ahead and roll the
83:17 outro my ear like hurts right got know a lot works like
83:23 during the show
