0:07 we have four rounders to unbox from western digital and we are going to
0:11 start with the lowest end one because that's always
0:16 the hardest when you have an entire series of products and sort of talking
0:20 about the cool features that are present is taking the lowest end one out of the
0:23 entire product stack and figuring out what's exciting about it in this case
0:28 it's not actually that difficult because the mynet series of routers has
0:34 really one key feature that goes above and
0:37 beyond what kind of anyone else is doing it's called fast track so fast track is
0:42 as wd describes it um
0:46 uh fast track stop waiting start watching smooth hd streaming to your
0:49 smart tvs tablet smartphones computers and other connected devices so it is
0:53 quality of service that rather than setting up manually within like a qos
0:58 menu inside the web interface for your router and logging into that and then
1:03 manually putting things into it which is kind of a chore every time you have some
1:07 new game and you have to build some new profile just to make sure that it's
1:11 prioritized it's sort of stupid so fast track the idea is you turn it on
1:15 and based on profiles that wd builds for the mynet n600 as well as the n750
1:23 it will just kind of automatically prioritize the things that need extra
1:26 bandwidth and it will reserve bandwidth for them so that they don't lag and they
1:30 don't stutter with the mine at 900 it actually recognizes the shape of the
1:34 traffic and dynamically adjusts so it'll go oh that looks like a game and it'll
1:39 dynamically reserve bandwidth for it even without wd rolling out profiles in
1:44 their firmwares but with the lower end ones you do have to rely on the profiles
1:47 from western digital this particular router is a dual band 300 plus 300
1:51 megabit per second router so effective and 600 speed
1:55 good range really they put that on there good range
1:58 uh easy setup fast track streaming full hd 1080p okay it better be if it's uh
2:04 oh look at this they have a convenient product comparison here too so range is
2:09 house and then there's a bigger house and there's a really big house okay
2:12 fast track fast track fast track plus is the adaptive one very cool
2:16 100 Ethernet ports so it does have fast wireless but only fast Ethernet fast
2:20 Ethernet isn't fast anymore it's gigabit Ethernet is the faster one one usb 2.0
2:25 port so western digital is a storage company so it stands to reason that they
2:29 would want to you know i don't know configure their routers so that you can
2:33 add storage to them so something like a my book live would be a perfect
2:37 companion for one of their
2:40 uh for one of their my net routers in fact if you use
2:45 a my book live you can even enable additional features like apple's file
2:49 protocol so you can use time capsule that's what it's called right time
2:52 capsule time machine time capsule i think
2:55 hold on yay google time capsule is the apple
2:59 device that has storage inside of it that allows you to use time machine to
3:03 back up your pcs over the network so this will behave kind of like a time
3:07 capsule once you attach a qualified
3:10 external drive to it otherwise you don't get that apple protocol and you can
3:15 still use it as storage but just not with the extra features so in terms of
3:19 the physicality of it you've got a power led wireless led interwebs led and
3:25 w-w-e-p-w-p-a yeah our private protected yeah wpa
3:29 wwps there's the button for wps which
3:32 sort of next to the led indicator which means that i should probably realize
3:37 that at some point in time there's your power button on the back
3:40 nice toggle power button dc in
3:43 four fast Ethernet ports remember fast doesn't mean fast fast means not as fast
3:48 which is okay because this is a lower end product uh there's your lan port
3:51 there's your usb storage port and there's your ventilation holes and other
3:56 than that there's not much else to say about it i mean it's you know
4:01 simple to set up i suppose let's see if they have a quick start guide so start
4:04 here start didn't see here okay
4:08 one two three steps for mac one two three steps from Windows hey ironically
4:12 the one two three steps for Windows actually look a lot simpler than the one
4:16 two three steps for mac huh there's a disc you can use that if you
4:20 want it comes with an Ethernet cable it comes with a power adapter and also
4:24 comes with a technical support unlimited warranty guide with a whole bunch of numbers all
4:29 over the world that some of them don't even make any sense i mean how many oh
4:32 that's three different phone numbers i was like is that a phone number for
4:35 singapore i mean singapore they must have to remember like 30 digits just to
4:39 call somebody thank you for checking out my unboxing and first look at the mynet
4:43 n600 from western digital don't forget to subscribe to lions tech tips from
4:47 unboxings reviews and other computer videos and i did mention it was dual band but i didn't mention it's 2.4
4:51 gigahertz and 5 gigahertz which is what dual band means but not everyone knows that
4:55 don't forget to subscribe
