0:00 this video is brought to you by the Intel Core i7 4770k unlocked processor
0:05 if you're a speed freak add an Intel 3500 series SSD to your Haswell system
0:10 for a truly Enthusiast class experience all right
0:14 guys that's it Corsair listened to everything that
0:21 pretty much well everything that I thought was wrong with the original k60
0:26 this my friends is the k70 in one of its
0:30 configurations so we're going to start with the things that carried over from
0:34 the k60 which this is sort of uh you can
0:37 tell it in is inspired by the k60 because you've got the replacement key
0:42 caps that have the Contour so you can find them more easily when you're not
0:45 looking at it it still has that aluminum
0:48 back plane that really makes Corsair's keyboards not only feel extremely rigid
0:53 but also be built extremely solidly and
0:57 look extremely cool and all that good stuff and sort of here's those uh here's
1:02 those key caps that come with it there we go it also has a wrist rest but it's
1:08 missing the little sort of you know Nostromo thing that goes with the WD
1:13 keys that I'm not really convinced that too many people would have used anyway
1:17 and it still has here we go anyway this
1:21 one in particular has Cherry MX red switches aough more on that in a
1:25 moment there we go it has built-in media
1:29 keys which I think are among the best dedicated media keys out there just
1:33 because I love volume wheels so much and
1:36 this one has like a nice just textured metal finish to it mute as well as stop
1:42 back play pause and forward it has a Windows lock button and oh okay more on
1:46 this in a moment that is a backlight control button and it still has a USB
1:52 pass through now okay all of oh yeah right so it still has 100% anti-
1:57 ghosting and I think that's pretty much sh so what has Corsair improved on the
2:03 k70 number one all mechanical Keys F1 to
2:09 F12 and these Keys over here no longer
2:12 have any rubber Dome key switches so the keyboard is fully mechanical now also
2:17 check this out guys it is available with a backlight so we've got
2:23 a red backet one right over here there we go that has a black finish oh yeah
2:28 did I mention it's available with different finishes on the aluminum back
2:33 plane now which I personally think the red and black looks absolutely gorgeous
2:37 although the classic blue and silver Corsair mechanical keyboard thing is not
2:41 a bad thing either not only that but it is available with a variety of key
2:46 switches now so you are no longer limited to Cherry MX red now the ones
2:50 that I have here in front of me you can always tell the key switches in use by
2:54 simply popping them off if they're Cherry Keys then they are going to be
2:58 colorcoded the type of key switch that they happen to be I'm just going to go
3:02 ahead and show you guys the Blue version here let see if I can find that USB plug
3:07 there we go so you can always tell like that but there will be versions of the
3:11 keyboards available that use other key switches so blue and brown which we're
3:15 going to call the Slick Edition and the Linus Edition will also be available and
3:20 this is really exciting to me because Corsair's build quality on their keyboards is outstanding there's almost
3:25 no flex to the things whatsoever making them well yeah outstanding but the only
3:30 thing holding me back in the past was the fact that they use cherion x Reds
3:33 they have a very unique look because the
3:37 keys are significantly higher above the first visible part of the keyboard than
3:41 you'll see on most other keyboards and what this does is it gives the backlight
3:46 more of an of an underglow effect that I personally think looks absolutely
3:51 outstanding on their keyboards whether it's in blue or red now on the back of
3:55 the keyboard you can see that we've got a couple more options in terms of
3:59 elating it so you can elevate it here can drop that down there's rubber feet
4:03 here you can elevate it at the back just like that and you can attach or remove
4:09 the wrist rest at will they've got a bit of a different system for this it's
4:12 plastic now instead of metal but it still does feel quite strong so I'm not
4:15 too worried about it and then also at the back you've got different bio
4:18 switches so this should improve the compatibility of the keyboard which I
4:21 personally think is a very positive thing and that was one of the issues
4:24 that people had with the original k90 and the k60 and the reason for that is
4:29 is that in order to do things like um
4:33 100% anti- ghosting or multi-key rollover over USB you have to place some
4:38 you have to play around with the way the keyboard Works a little bit and sometimes this decreased compatibility
4:43 now with the k70 Corsair has manage to enable 100% anti- ghosting and N key
4:50 rollover meaning you can roll over as many keys as you want which is very very
4:54 cool but they've implemented that bio switch in order to improve compatibility
4:58 they've also changed ched some textur so you can see the space bar has a bit of a
5:02 of a textured feel to it now that looks quite different from the older one and
5:07 they have added of course new replacement key caps so I'm going to
5:11 switch over to our red one here let show you guys that one instead I'm just going
5:15 to swap that USB plug there we go and I'm going to show you how I have swapped
5:19 out the WD keys and the 1 2 3 4 5 six
5:23 Keys up at the top here the idea behind these is if you can see the Contour see
5:28 this uh this curved shape here between these keys I hope you can see that
5:34 um if you see the Contour the idea is you should be able to find your way back
5:38 to WD and to the 1 2 3 4 5 six keys
5:41 without looking more easily now the ones on the k60 had a very rubber feel to
5:46 them a rubber finish to them that I personally didn't find that appealing
5:49 but these are more of a hard plastic there you
5:53 go and they're much more similar feeling to the rest of the keys on the keyboard
5:57 so you can still rely on the shape to find them but you don't have to deal
6:01 with the fact that they have a bit of a different texture to them which I personally found a little bit obnoxious
6:06 and I I didn't I didn't really want to use that feature now last but not least
6:11 this is the kudrass of this particular keyboard it has off low medium and high
6:18 backlight
6:21 levels okay so you're not that impressed yet but it also has this feature which I
6:26 personally think is pretty fraking cool check that out so we have set up this
6:30 keyboard already to only have the arrow keys Windows Keys okay not that one WD
6:36 keys and the 1 2 3 4 5 six Keys illuminated but you can illuminate any
6:41 combination of keys that you so desire I
6:46 say I want my Escape key and I want all of these on all I have to do is hold
6:51 down this button set it up the way I like it so you know I want like a cross
6:55 here then I hold it down again and
7:00 voila it is now set and it will remember those settings so you can have whatever
7:04 combination of lighting that you want and you can switch between completely
7:09 back lit and only back lit where you want it to be very very cool thank you
