0:00 thank you Squarespace for allowing lonus Media Group to be here at CES 2016
0:04 covering the show so with all the cool stuff in the Samsung booth whether it's
0:09 the gigantic TV display at the front or
0:12 the you know fancy new design of their gear
0:15 Smartwatch why the crap Linus Are you standing in front of an appliance
0:20 something you don't even cover on your channel well let me tell you this
0:24 Appliance is like it's more machine now
0:27 than it is man it's twisted and well
0:30 there's nothing evil about it and it was always a machine but the point is that
0:33 they've actually taken something that we do normally care about tablets and
0:37 they've kind of glued them into the front of a fridge in a way that's
0:41 actually starting to get to the point where it's becoming functional and
0:45 sensible so on the inside oh they don't
0:48 let you open it look at that I can move the whole display but I cannot actually
0:52 open it so they thought of that before they let me come in here so on the
0:55 inside it's just your standard fridge
0:58 you put things in there they get cold then they stay cold but on the outside
1:03 they've done away with the magnets and the sticky notes Paradigm now I think
1:08 you probably could still put a sticky note on it so we got Grandpa's Corner
1:12 over here and then for everyone else we've got this 21 and 1/2 in Tien
1:18 operating system based effectively like a tablet built into the door that lets
1:22 you do a number of things but the one that really blew me away is actually
1:28 what was on here already and sincerely hope that there's a way for me to get
1:31 back to it and that is the way that you can use the cameras that are installed
1:36 inside the TV to actually show you images of what is inside the TV you can
1:42 set things like uh expiry dates you can
1:45 go okay yeah this cake uh well this is cake there you go and you know what it
1:51 yeah it was kind of like gross in the first place so I'm not going to eat that
1:55 past 3 days boom you've gone ahead and set an expiry date for it and
2:00 this is really cool in addition to doing all of this manually while you're
2:04 standing in front of it there's integration through an app to allow you
2:08 to view the camera when you're out and about on your smartphone so this is the
2:12 kind of thing I run into all the time because I cook very infrequently so I'll
2:18 finally be like oh I should really make dinner tonight and I'm at the grocery
2:21 store I'm like okay do I have tomatoes do I have celery do I have do I have any
2:26 what do I have so I'll be able to actually see a live view of what's
2:29 inside my fridge now I don't know how great the cameras look will I be able to
2:33 tell if the celer is wilted or not maybe not at this point but this kind of
2:37 Technology a couple Generations down the line is going to be absolutely freaking
2:41 awesome and then the other big one is the ability to shop through this screen
2:48 right here on your TV now I have no idea when and if this is coming to Canada so
2:52 it's probably a long way away for me cuz nothing ever comes to Canada but for
2:56 everyone who lives in the first world enjoy cuz that's going to be freaking
3:01 awesome to have a refrigerator that's like yeah your eggs are about to expire
3:04 I'm going to order up some new eggs for you so you can have your omelet so
