0:00 okay so this monitor has appeared in
0:04 like four videos i think at this point on our channel so
0:07 you probably know how amazing it is it's
0:11 got a whole laundry list of features some of which
0:14 you might actually care a lot about like a 4k resolution screen
0:18 144 hertz depending on how you interpret that refresh rate and i mean it's got
0:24 some other stuff that you might not care about uh HDR g-sync professional grade
0:28 color accuracy and of course ah oh it's heavy
0:33 RGB lighting oh and of course right it costs 2 000 freaking dollars
0:39 but what if you could take away the extra RGB cherries on top and just
0:45 get the stuff that you really care about the 4k and the high refresh rate
0:51 this my friends is the wasabi
0:55 mango which
0:59 yes is really what it's called
1:02 thank you korea this is their uhd 430 it's a 43 inch 120
1:09 hertz 4k display for over five hundred dollars less than
1:16 this one over here thermaltake's vue 71k supports mini itx
1:22 micro atx atx and eatx motherboards with
1:25 a variety of mounting options for your GPU and radiator check it out today at
1:29 the link below
1:39 so the wasabi mango uhd 430 believe it
1:42 or not was actually the first commercially available monitor to take
1:47 full advantage of the displayport 1.4 spec which means that over a single
1:52 cable it has enough bandwidth for the display's 3840 by 2160 resolution at 120
2:00 hertz without any chroma subsampling
2:04 so no it's not 144 hertz but depending
2:07 who you ask neither is this one by the way you
2:11 should check out the full review for this thing here it is it is pretty freaking amazing
2:15 so you might be wondering if the uhd430
2:18 came out first why is this review only coming out now
2:24 that's because this thing is only available for purchase in south korea
2:30 but now thanks to enterprising exporters you can
2:34 actually get your very own in north america on ebay for fourteen hundred
2:40 dollars with free international shipping that is a
2:44 full six hundred dollars cheaper than the ASUS and acer offerings hold on a
2:50 second it's 43 inches it does have DisplayPort but is this thing just a tv
2:56 with displayport is it even any good for gaming
3:00 uh yeah yeah it is like this thing might kind of
3:05 look like a tv like look at this look at this stand here and everything
3:09 it might even kind of like smell like a tv
3:12 but it feels it games like a gaming
3:15 monitor i mean we consistently saw
3:20 impressively low input lag and even the
3:23 response times feel great considering that this is an ips panel like there's
3:28 barely any motion blur to be seen on it now of course
3:32 going for a budget option can i call a 1400 monitor
3:38 budget i mean first there is no variable refresh rate
3:43 technology no g-sync no freesync even and since 4k games take
3:48 a lot of uh peppa to run well you're likely to be in the
3:54 40 to 60 FPS range when you're playing
3:57 aaa titles even if you're running a gtx 1080 ti or a titan v
4:02 like this machine is actually and that's the exact frame rate range
4:06 where the most dramatic effects of variable refresh rate can be seen
4:12 with that said your mileage may vary depending on the games you play and even
4:16 how much you notice or care about tearing or stuttering and that sort of
4:21 thing also there is a chance that the
4:24 uhd430 will get a freesync support in the
4:28 future via a firmware update that's actually the method that wasabi mango
4:32 used to upgrade their uhd420
4:36 way back in 2015 uht420
4:42 compromise number the next is uh the HDR
4:47 that uh oh yes there it is so it's on the box and they claim it
4:53 supports HDR but this is one of those
4:57 hdrint kind of displays where it only
5:00 reaches 400 nit peak brightness true HDR really demands a minimum of a
5:07 thousand nits peak brightness and while we're at it we should note that you
5:12 can't get 120 hertz 10 bit color
5:16 and HDR turned on all at the same time
5:19 you actually need to turn the refresh rate down to 98 hertz to really
5:24 experience HDR otherwise the bit depth
5:27 gets downgraded to 8-bit
5:30 which i mean on the subject of bit depths and color accuracy
5:36 um well the au optronics panel that is in
5:40 the ASUS pg27uq and the acer x27
5:44 is a quantum dot panel giving it very accurate color over a wide gamut
5:50 this one well let's just say it has
5:54 good coverage of the srgb color space i
5:57 mean it is ah ips after all but then it has
6:01 what we would describe as bork all
6:04 as far as dci p3 coverage goes and colors that are definitely
6:10 not accurate enough for any serious
6:13 photo editors out there let alone profes i wouldn't edit a picture i took on my
6:18 phone on this thing quite frankly looking at it side by side with a real
6:21 monitor finally if you're into that sort of thing
6:25 there's no RGB or glowing lights or anything like that
6:29 but at least the chassis actually isn't half bad it does have like a brushed
6:34 anodized aluminum face even if the bezels aren't super skinny it's got a
6:38 vase amount compatible back so you can put it on an ARM if you're a wall mount
6:42 if you're into that sort of thing and it's got side accessible i o with two
6:46 displayport 1.4 ports three HDMI 2.0
6:50 ports and a toslink optical audio jack
6:53 which you might actually use since the included speakers while definitely
6:57 appreciated don't sound great and aren't even loud
7:02 enough for monitor use let alone tv use
7:06 so should you buy this monitor
7:11 i mean i guess if you've got a powerful enough rig to actually take advantage of
7:17 4k 120 hertz in at least some of your
7:20 favorite games and you really want to be an early adopter then
7:25 the 5 to 600 ish dollar price difference
7:29 makes it easier to justify not to mention that it is 16 inches bigger to
7:35 boot though that does mean that the pixel density drops from 163 pixels per
7:42 inch on this guy to about 104 on this
7:45 one so you won't be sitting that close anyway
7:51 at least that is unless you are playing
7:54 one of those visual novels that i
7:58 definitely don't know anything about
8:02 ting is the mobile carrier that does service contracts a little differently
8:07 in the sense that there are no contracts there's no overage fees or any other
8:11 carrier tricks like that you just pay a fair price for the talk text and data
8:15 that you actually use every month and ting gives you complete control over
8:20 your cell phone account you can set alerts and caps for each device on your
8:24 account to keep your usage in check nationwide lte coverage means that
8:29 you'll have great coverage from coast to coast and almost any phone will work
8:33 with ting from that ancient motorola razer sitting in your basement to the
8:37 latest samsung galaxy s9 or iphone 10 so
8:40 check your phone's compatibility and get 25 bucks off your bill or towards a new
