0:00 if i asked you to imagine the perfect gaming keyboard you'd probably think of
0:04 things like cherry mx switches programmable keys and n key rollover
0:10 but what if there was a keyboard that had all the basic gamer features but
0:15 also helped you play longer without fatigue and even gave you multiple ways
0:21 to configure your desktop maybe that's something you didn't even know you
0:25 wanted introducing the freestyle edge
0:29 from kinesis gaming the world's first
0:32 split gaming keyboard and introducing Corsair's new light loop
0:38 fans featuring 16 independent leds in
0:42 every fan and low noise operation without sacrificing performance check
0:46 them out at the link below
0:57 now the ideal keyboard position can change a lot depending on what game
1:01 you're playing so the idea here is that whether you're the type who likes to
1:06 tilt your keyboard for shooters throw in a joystick for flying bring the mouse in
1:10 close for reduced shoulder fatigue or let's be honest sometimes you just want
1:14 a little snacky poo the edge gives you flexibility so the two halves of the
1:19 keyboard can be placed up to 50 centimeters apart and you can even hide
1:25 some though not quite enough in my opinion of the cord that goes between
1:29 the pieces to limit the amount of excess hanging out in closer configurations now
1:35 i know what you're thinking okay maybe that's useful but is this really
1:41 worth a video to be honest initially we thought it was just a keyboard with a
1:46 flashy gimmick too but it ended up being a damn good keyboard the build quality
1:51 is solid with braided cables and cherry mx switches either in red brown or blue
1:57 flavors and features like one millisecond response times anti-ghosting
2:02 and eight programmable macro keys will keep hardcore players competitive but
2:07 stealthy the matte black finish and easy to read legend contribute to a clean
2:12 modern look that doesn't scream gamer
2:15 i mean who says that sick gear bro has
2:18 to actually physically nauseate you and it even has a pitch black mode that
2:23 turns off both the blue backlight and the indicator leds neat oh so at this
2:28 point even if the video was over the no no
2:31 wait i i said if it's not over yet the edge would be worth a serious look
2:36 but we haven't even talked about the feature that takes this keyboard to the
2:40 next level programmability every one of
2:43 the edge's 95 keys can be remapped to
2:47 not just any function but any two functions which you toggle between using
2:52 the freaking key down here and i'm not talking about simple
2:57 functions every key or combo using
3:00 modifiers like control and or shift can
3:03 be mapped to a macro and you can have up to 24 macros each one can be up to 300
3:10 characters long the execution speed for which can be controlled globally or set
3:15 individually all the way from four to a
3:18 fiery 3 000 actions per second
3:21 then man this thing just keeps going let's say that you share your keyboard
3:24 with someone else or you like different key mappings for different activities
3:28 like gaming or working that's no problem
3:32 you can have this level of customization on up to nine different layouts so such
3:38 advanced programmability probably needs advanced programming knowledge and or a
3:43 software tool then right well you can do either of those things
3:47 what's cool is that the software tool for Windows is actually built right into
3:51 the keyboard no download required but all but a few niche actions can actually
3:57 be done just using the keys on the board
4:00 it's super intuitive and only takes a second and if you ever forget what layer
4:04 you're using or just what you even have programmed you can
4:08 check it at any time and all of this is stored directly on the board so you can
4:13 take all of your settings with you which brings us to the bad stuff you may
4:18 have noticed that i haven't talked about price yet this keyboard is 220
4:24 or 200 on amazon which isn't outlandish
4:27 but it is a lot even for a high quality mechanical board
4:31 especially one that isn't RGB
4:35 that price tag on its own isn't all of what bothers me anyway remember
4:40 that's still only half the price of the last kinesis ergonomic keyboard we
4:44 reviewed the advantage 2 which you can check out here
4:47 it's the fact that once you've taken your expensive product out of its clever
4:52 box you're left feeling a little
4:55 incomplete the reason is that the edge doesn't come
4:59 with the lift kit which after using it both with and without it feels
5:04 completely essential it tilts your wrists 5 10 or 15 degrees
5:11 and takes the edge from being a stylish flexible maybe even fantastic gaming
5:16 keyboard to being perhaps the most ergonomic gaming keyboard out there
5:21 since the wrist rests keep your wrist from extending the lift kit keeps your
5:25 arms from pronating and the separation prevents them ulnas from deviating
5:30 whether you're typing for hours gaming for hours or some combination of the two
5:35 for hours so should you buy it not everyone is going to like the
5:39 cramped arrow keys or the fact that the halves don't snap together for some
5:44 reason and at this price we think it
5:47 absolutely needs to include the lift kit but of all the ergonomic keyboards so
5:53 far we think this one has by far the most mainstream appeal so if it goes on
5:59 sale i'm ready to say pull the trigger now
6:02 but until then
6:05 you might say i'm a little bit split
6:08 or torn uh
6:11 anyway what i'm not torn about is telling you guys about skillshare it's
