0:07 today I have kind of a neat product to unbox this is the trenet Tew 684 UB uh
0:14 yeah it doesn't have a sexy name or anything but what's cool about this
0:18 device is that it is the first USB 450
0:22 mbit per second dualband Wireless N USB adapter so yes it is a USB 450 mbit per
0:29 second wireless device so I'm going to go ahead and open this little guy up
0:34 here comes in a very small box I mean it's a USB device so it
0:40 couldn't be couldn't be that large right I mean it could be but wouldn't
0:46 make much sense all right here we go so here's what trenet has to say about 450
0:51 megabit per second dual band it is better than 450 megabit it is better
0:55 than 300 megabit dual band better than 300 megabit and speed as well as 150
1:00 megabit per second so it is the best okay got
1:04 it right here we see what the device
1:07 looks like but we're going to see that when we open it up here we see how to use it so you connect it to the
1:12 computer okay and then it is wirelessly
1:16 connected to your router and they recommend the Tew 691 grr which I happen
1:21 to have one of here we go so I have a
1:24 whole Fleet of trend net 450 megabit per second devices so you can bet there will
1:28 be a tech tips up coming on that shortly all right so there they show the other
1:33 devices so the 690 AP is the one that I don't have but that's fine cuz the 690
1:37 AP is just an AP version of the 691 gr
1:42 which is the full router so the more interesting product anyway so here it is
1:46 it actually looks like a little tiny version of the trend net uh Tew 687 GA
1:53 so the ga is the gaming adapter which is uh uses a gigabit Ethernet interface
1:59 rather than a usb3 interface and then actually here I'll show it to you so
2:03 there's the 687 GA so you can see the size difference and I'll do the
2:07 obligatory iPhone size comparison as
2:11 well just so you guys can see how big this thing is so it's not super large it
2:14 could easily be carried if you were going to travel and you were going to bring this guy with you okay so it uses
2:21 micro hold on hold on I can never remember the USB 3 cable
2:26 standards ah oh right this is USB 2 so
2:29 it just uses a b cable a mini B There we go good I know the USB 2 ones there you
2:34 have it so then it plugs in Via a normal
2:38 USB 2.0 Port so bear in mind of course
2:41 guys that USB 2 oh okay USB 2 is
2:44 480 megabit per second as I recall so
2:48 what that means is that with this one device you can pretty much uh saturate
2:52 your USB 2 bus but I mean I wouldn't
2:56 worry too much about that because you're not going to be using the full thorough
2:59 put of this device very often that's only when you're transferring large
3:03 files at a time so you can see it's got a one button setup button up here
3:10 WPS there you can see that now on the bottom it has the Mac Address as well as
3:14 the serial number on the back there's your USB and it pretty much looks like
3:18 this there's not much more to say so there's a WPS light and activity light
3:23 as well as a power light on the front why I'm going to go ahead and plug that
3:26 in I can show you what the indicator lights look like so I'm just going to
3:30 come over here plug this into my test computer and hopefully there you go so
3:36 that's what those lights are going to look like please Focus Mr camera there
3:39 we are all right so thank you for
3:43 checking out my unboxing of the trenet
3:46 Wireless N 450 megabit pers second Tew
3:50 684 UB don't forget to subscribe to lus Tech tips for unboxings reviews and
3:55 other computer videos please Focus Mr camera you know I
3:59 think it's having a hard time focusing cuz it's so shiny there see now I can
4:03 see it oh I missed something there it
4:07 actually comes with a quick installation guide which is going to show you how to use WPS as well as plug it into your
4:12 computer and a driver and utility DVD that has the users's guide on it as well
4:16 rather CD
