0:00 people tend to treat building high-end computers like creating a sculpture the
0:05 construction is slow and meticulous time
0:08 is taken ensuring that every individual cable is roted and managed perfectly
0:14 Investments are made not only in their cuttingedge Hardware but also in things
0:19 that offer little to no performance Improvement like beautiful brushed
0:24 aluminum and tempered glass from their Superior components to their fine
0:28 craftsmanship to they seemingly cult-like Community it's easy to
0:33 understand the passion and like sculptures the best personal computers
0:38 are all about the Builder's attention to detail it has a GTX 980 like a desktop
0:45 PC it has rubber tubing like the International Space Station it has
0:50 strapping like a pickup truck it has a magnesium aluminum alloy frame like an
0:56 F1 car it mounts to your back like like
1:00 a jetpack it features an AC to DC
1:03 voltage converted power delivery system like the cray supercomputer and it
1:08 features dual exhaust ports like an F-16
1:11 fighter jet the LT Edition VR backpack
1:14 may just be the most revolutionary closest to falling apart piece of
1:19 technology ever pulled out of a Craigslist ad
1:30 the be quiet! dark based Pro 900 modular design supports a variety of different
1:35 layouts and configurations click on the link in the video description to learn
1:39 more all right so first off I need to give a shout out to the drive YouTube
1:43 channel and Corbin Goodwin for their awesome video the zero given RX7 which
1:49 inspired the intro to this video Corbin's car is badass go check it out
1:55 now getting back on topic why did we make a VR backpack it's actually rather
2:00 simple we wanted to play with it and you can't buy a commercial one yet the B1 VR
2:05 backpack that we checked out from aorus in January at CES this year is vaporware
2:11 and the same is true for the Zotac VR backpack that was showcased at computex
2:15 this year and while MSI has announced their VR1 backpack and I've heard
2:20 through the grape find that a certain space fairing organization that rhymes
2:24 with Bessa H anyways they're going to use it
2:28 for immersive training of their astronauts which is very cool and that
2:33 also is not available yet so if you want
2:37 to solve the problem with the long cable that runs between the headset and the
2:42 computer also known as the tether coming up with something yourself is the only
2:47 way lonus had one idea but while he lightened the cable itself he ended up
2:52 wearing a backpack full of electronics so large and heavy that many of you
2:56 wondered if he wouldn't be better off just you know putting the Computing
3:01 device on his back directly this doesn't remove the tether but it will remove any
3:06 issues with the tether as you just need to Cable manage it from well your back
3:12 so I set out to do this as cost effectively as possible without
3:16 compromising on the experience I started
3:19 with a proper hiking style backpack frame with a waist Buckle the weight
3:24 mitigation is really not a big deal this
3:27 thing with all this Hardware weighs less than the bag I used to carry around
3:31 school with just textbooks in it but as with many things the most important
3:36 reason is cost I got this backpack for
3:39 25 bucks off Craigslist from a lady who seemed like she would have rather had
3:44 anyone come pick it up other than me
3:48 after removing the bag off of the frame I had a perfect solid lightweight frame
3:54 I got the straps for another 20 bucks from Home Depot and some spare waste
3:59 rubber tube from tan for free 45 bucks
4:02 all in and with some more time spent deal shopping and thinking of your own
4:07 creative ways to mount your laptop it is
4:10 possible that you could get even lower overall none of this was that hard I
4:14 spent a bunch of time planning out the best possible way to mount everything
4:19 looking up thermal properties of different materials online and what not
4:24 then I finally went to Home Depot to grab some gear to get it done and
4:29 thought hey what about straps like like pickup
4:34 trucks and that solution worked perfectly well and was Far easier than
4:38 what I was actually thinking of doing so just head out to the local store
4:41 junkyard get inspired and get her done it's not that big of a deal now the
4:44 reason I chose to do this with a laptop instead of various desktop components
4:48 wasn't actually the difference in difficulty it would have still been
4:53 doable but I just didn't feel like it was actually a compromise the percentage
4:57 of people buying gaming capable laptops
5:00 is increasing at a surprising rate in no small part due to their performance even
5:05 this last generation Acer Predator X17
5:09 has a high performance Intel Core i7
5:12 6820hk a desktop grade 980 dual 256 GB
5:17 ssds in raid zero 32 gigs of ddr4 memory
5:22 and more including an air vent layout that worked perfectly for this setup not
5:27 to mention that for somebody that already has one of these laptops 45
5:31 bucks isn't too much to invest in order to be able to swap quickly between a VR
5:37 backpack experience and the normal laptop experience that you're used to
5:41 now I know this video isn't going to get a million views and I also understand
5:46 that it probably doesn't deserve it the internet currently is fueled by hype
5:52 drama and memes and this video contains
5:56 none of those sometimes I just feel obligated to to make a video where I
6:00 show that it really isn't that hard to just create something of your own I'm
6:06 actually rather proud of this rickety little bag it's mine I was the one that
6:11 made sure it matched the standard lonus Tech tips orange and black colors I was
6:16 the one that scared the nice lady while picking up the Magnesium aluminum alloy
6:21 frame and I was the one that thought to
6:24 use the strapping I like to think of this project as a reflection of me it's
6:28 not perfect but I'd like to think that it's very functional and I'd like you to
6:33 go out and create something that is a reflection of you send a picture or
6:38 video of it to me at Linus and tag me if
6:41 you want to reply at lukor LFR and by
6:45 this I do not mean just a collection of
6:48 computer parts that you happen to plug into each other I'm sure most of you
6:54 watching are sufficient enough at electrical Lego to get that done now go
6:59 make something cool and make it for you
7:02 just let me know about it thanks for watching guys if this video sucked you
7:06 know what to do you can dislike it but um LT backpack man will be very sad if
7:12 you do that because um I don't I don't know where I'm going with this like the
7:16 video if you liked it subscribe if you liked it as well if you want to buy
7:21 something uh uh a laptop there we go
7:24 check out the Amazon Link in the video description down below also discuss how
7:29 terrible my creation was on the Forum the LTD Community Forum they're great
7:33 over there um and in the description down below you can buy a t-shirt not
7:36 this one but like ones that are like this one I just don't think this one's
7:40 available anymore but you know that's cool whatever if you want to see another
7:44 video check out this one where I turn an old computer case into a test bench also
7:49 pretty cool
