0:00 this is probably the most exciting unboxing that I have done in quite a
0:05 while I have been eagerly awaiting this shipment from new enough so that is a
0:09 motorcycle gear supply store and as some
0:13 of you know I did recently purchase a motorcycle I just completed my training
0:18 course and this is my set of textile
0:22 gear that I have ordered in order to make sure that I am well protected okay
0:27 so this is a Joe Rocket ballistic 7 .0 jacket it features C approved armor in
0:33 the shoulders and the elbows so uh
0:37 hopefully I'll be able to show that to you all right it is in theory a
0:41 waterproof jacket although the outer layer is just a simple uh textile
0:46 material there is actually a
0:49 waterproof uh believe it's a midliner
0:52 yeah it's a waterproof no it's a waterproof inliner or something like
0:56 that no hold on I I looked at so many different
1:00 jackets no no this has a waterproof outer layer it ALS it also features air
1:06 vents for if you get warm okay you can see the zippers are waterproofed so you
1:10 can open up the air vents here in the arms you can open up I believe there are
1:14 other air vents here in the chest open those up get some air flow see there's
1:18 an internal uh waterproof zipper underneath that as well I'm going to try
1:22 and get you guys a better angle on that just like that and then I believe there
1:25 are also uh air vents in the back so
1:28 that is the exhaust vent back here so you undo these clips there we go my
1:35 helmet was supposed to arrive today but Canada Post screwed up so uh I will not
1:40 actually be able to ride my bike this weekend which is very very unfortunate
1:45 okay so here I'm just going to start trying these on the idea is that I
1:49 should be able to put my riding gear on over top of my work clothes and then uh
1:54 I will be able to ride to work and then home from work on my
1:58 motorcycle okay and then I also o got matching ballistic 7.0 pants so new
2:04 enough is pretty good because uh it's cheap the jacket was on close out so
2:08 even though I wouldn't normally buy a brand name like Joe Rocket cuz it's
2:11 really expensive uh the price was right and then the matching pants were also a
2:16 fairly good deal you know what there's probably some marketing bullet points on
2:19 all of this uh convenient stuff right here on the jacket itself so Air Guard
2:23 super tenacious fabric that's good okay
2:27 excellent lightness durability freshness oh you know what something I should talk
2:30 about in terms of the fabric is the reason I went with a textile jacket is
2:33 because it does offer some abrasion resistance you do have the armor
2:37 included with it as well although it does not offer the same abrasion
2:41 resistance as leather at Street speeds though a textile jacket is going to
2:45 protect you well enough but it will probably be ruined whereas a leather
2:49 jacket will protect you and you can probably still wear it it'll just have
2:52 scuff marks on it a textile jacket's probably going to tear in that kind of a
2:56 situation so protector oh yeah this is the C armor so it does use a soft armor
3:01 inside this jacket there are hard armors as well all right here's a cross-section
3:06 of the air guard Hollow yarn cool high
3:09 technology uh fabric there I suppose
3:13 here's some other Joe Rocket stuff they do Leathers as well but uh I mean I'm
3:17 going to be riding in the rain in theory so the last thing I wanted was to uh was
3:21 to get Leathers okay the pants I believe the
3:25 pants actually zip up to the jacket you see there's a zipper right here it
3:29 includes the other half in case you have a different jacket but since these ones are matching they zip together right off
3:33 the bat these ones I bought a little bit
3:36 large because I do want them to go on over top of my
3:40 jeans and they actually have uh if they're anything like the ones that I
3:44 tried on in a local store yep they have zippers down here so you can actually
3:47 put your riding boots on here we go goes
3:52 way up the leg so you can put your riding boots on then put the pants on
3:56 here's the waterproof internal liner and there is the uh the mesh as well as you
4:01 can see the soft CE knee pad armor right there including a little Shin Shin pad
4:05 piece so let's go ahead make sure these fit because I actually didn't try the
4:10 ballistic 7.0 pants before I ordered them I tried a different series of
4:15 ballistic pants so let's see how this goes then I'll be all geared up for
4:20 riding except for my helmet which isn't here yet so I will not be riding this
4:24 weekend but I'll be thinking about it yep that's the best I can do so
4:30 actually give me give me a minute to get into the clo here and then uh cameraman
4:33 can either keep filming or he can not keep filming it's up to him I suppose I
4:38 know this is a little bit off topic as far as Tech tips go
4:43 but I don't know people seem to not really mind when I upload sort of my
4:47 personal stuff so cameraman's around behind me for some
4:52 reason getting footage of
4:56 uh me trying on these pants Oh God these
4:59 are hard to put on them there we
5:04 go okay so I did have to get the ones with
5:08 a short inseam so I got a medium siiz wayist
5:12 short inseam pan uh Joe Rocket was one of the few brands that I was able to
5:16 find that did offer short inseams without buying uh ladies pants which
5:20 there's nothing really wrong with either because they're all cut the same uh
5:24 there's only a few ladies garments for motorcycle gear that are actually cut
5:28 differently and they're mostly Jack one thing that's cool though is that
5:32 most of the ladies pants have uh adjustable adjustable pants so you can
5:37 actually fold them up and then they're like self hemming kind of thing so let's
5:41 go ahead and put these
5:46 on wow these full length zippers are a pain I think I'll go ahead and put my
5:50 boots on after I get into the pants uh
5:53 as a general rule and wow this is hot so I can tell
5:58 already on a day like today I would probably need to have the vents open in
6:03 order to uh be appreciating the armor
6:07 and gear and such so when you're fitting
6:11 yourself for motorcycle gear one of the things that's really important is making
6:15 sure that it doesn't fit loose it shouldn't fit like street clothes so you
6:19 can see my movement is actually quite restricted in this garment because the
6:23 idea is I'm supposed to be down like this and that's the only position I'm
6:27 ever in it's not about how comfortable it is is it's about making sure that the
6:31 armor doesn't shift if you move around the fabric like this so you can see that
6:34 elbow pad is going to stay right where I need it even if I'm tumbling around in a
6:39 crash that's the whole idea so there we have it that is my new motorcycle gear
6:44 and I wish I had a helmet I will update you guys if the helmet does arrive in
6:48 time for Friday thanks for checking out my video don't forget to subscribe to
6:51 Linus Tech tips cameraman was commenting the pants
6:56 don't appear to appear to fit me quite right and what I was just explaining to
7:00 him is that when you're up on the pegs all of and you're wearing your
7:03 motorcycle boots all of a sudden that little bit of extra length is going to
7:07 go away pretty fast so these were bought Just a Touch long just to make sure that
7:12 when I'm actually riding I'll still be covered from the wind so there you
7:15 go
