0:04 it's when show time and
0:09 i am very upset this is this is uh quite
0:12 emotionally striking for him right now yeah i am really not sure how to process
0:17 this right now okay legitimately this
0:20 is weird yes
0:23 like even just that part and the fact
0:27 in order to like administer the show
0:30 you have to go that way i go over here like
0:34 the number of years yeah that i have been sitting to your left yep
0:40 and this is what happens when we let a prime
0:46 work on i didn't do it the lan show set
0:49 i was just sitting there you were sitting there so you were party
0:53 to it no yes no yes
0:56 yes yes yes
1:00 yes no yes
1:04 okay so one of my questions is why didn't they just put the little table over here i don't know
1:09 like it wouldn't have been because i can't take this
1:14 okay one thing too is this the way that we sat
1:18 uh on the couch no
1:21 in the really hot room oh hold on
1:26 no i was on the left still are you sure no
1:30 i'm pretty sure i was on the left but back then
1:34 you still had to administer to the left because the table was forward and to the
1:38 left
1:43 it would go really far back look it up because i don't know
1:47 uh oh here we go okay whoa yes i used to be on this side
1:53 yeah but you would everything was in the middle
1:56 yeah it was it was in the middle to the left oh okay okay anyway um
2:01 other than what is clearly
2:04 wrong and terrible uh we have a great show for you guys today
2:08 uh Intel launched optane dimms yeah so
2:12 like memory modules but like using optane
2:16 super cool so that's pretty cool AMD is preparing new cpus which are super
2:21 uninteresting but it's still good that they're doing that but it's good that they're doing that because the more
2:25 pressure we put on Intel the more likely they are to release
2:29 something other than optane dimms um those are still kind of ARM is
2:34 introducing a new processor with insane performance hooray it's going to be
2:40 the razer processor oh wow did you ever see his keynote on the
2:44 razer phone no it's insane
2:49 insane performance you know what they put so much work
2:53 that it was insane yeah you know what you're talking about yeah you know
2:56 what's funny the like the rest of the internet didn't seem to really pick up
3:00 on that or they didn't think it was as fun maybe it's because i know him
3:04 like maybe that's part of it where like i was just i was i was watching like
3:09 someone that i know in real life
3:12 tried to do like ceo keynote guy things and i was
3:18 like oh man you still have some work to do
3:23 um what else we've got oh we've got a rumor a couple of rumors that uh apple is
3:28 gonna be launching one iphone model next year with three rear cameras
3:34 everyone is getting closer to that uh what was that camera called with like
3:38 all the oh my yeah uh i don't start with an l i don't know what it's called i
3:43 don't remember there's like a million lenses on the front yeah yeah we're getting closer to that becoming a
3:47 reality oh also uh the Intel core i7 8086k is confirmed so uh we'll get to
3:52 that after the intro that i don't know maybe it still works i don't know
3:57 i don't know everything last time it broke and then i fixed it live
4:04 yeah i mean sure yeah
4:08 okay so hold on a minute hold on a minute is that the side that i'm on now
4:13 oh i think it is
4:17 no because that was made with the black couch yeah
4:21 oh wow this is messing with my whole world
4:26 right now i'm actually not even sure so i'm on the right side in there yeah
4:30 and if oh
4:36 that's pretty weird we forgot yeah
4:40 despite it being shown to us twice every week
4:45 that's a hundred times a year
4:48 but for three years geez oh wow all right
4:53 all right okay so uh you've had a pretty rough week yeah i've had a pretty rough
4:58 week yeah and for some different reasons and some of the same reasons so i'm
5:03 gonna go first um i'm leaving for computex i can't give
5:07 you that mic pack because i have to shoot one more video after this
5:10 he's changing the mic oh well then i can give you this mic pack so i am flying
5:14 out for computex very very shortly
5:18 and i will be gone for like 10 days
5:22 yeah i'm gone for a while i'm going to taiwan and then china which is of course
5:27 the same thing right dennis
5:30 what i did say yes or no
5:36 are you making that sound because you have like a gag gag order
5:42 uh so i'm going to taiwan then china we're going there
5:47 yeah um oh is he going with you yeah yeah he's going with me
5:51 oh yeah is it going to be a problem like going to china with a a taiwanese like
5:57 who lives in canada and like works in canada but he didn't stick her over his
6:02 passport so i think he's probably still okay did you hear about all that no
6:07 uh there was a thing going around where i don't know if you could get them from
6:10 the government or if people were making themselves but it was like semi-endorsed from the government at first and then it
6:14 wasn't later on but there was uh stickers that got rid of the republic
6:19 of china thing or whatever it's called okay like on your taiwanese passport
6:24 yeah and then people that traveled with that to china were like super denied entry
6:30 wow yeah but he has not done this well
6:33 that's interesting isn't it please let him in china yeah that would be good so
6:37 i'm going to taiwan then china so i'm going to be gone for 10 days but yeah
6:42 you're gonna notice something really weird while i'm gone
6:46 there's gonna be an LTT video every day yeah so
6:50 that's been this week and last week and actually the one before
6:54 and then also we shot
6:58 another season of
7:03 i was going to mess with them oh i was going to say tech showdown right because then they'd be like oh
7:11 no no one loves texture
7:16 and you know what i guess that's okay yeah that's probably fine because
7:20 frankly i don't really love it either um yeah it had potential it did it had
7:25 potential i liked the first episodes more it's like
7:28 it's like the sixth child you know
7:32 there was so much potential but you just didn't really put the work into it and
7:38 it came out half baked and
7:42 so yes wow new season of scrapyard wars
7:46 i apologize for all of the six childs out there and guys
7:49 the shtick this time is pretty
7:53 insane it's actually insane so it's just a
7:59 classic Linus versus luke which i don't
8:02 think we've done since season two
8:05 with the water cooling challenge has it been that long yeah because after that
8:10 it was the three-way with austin
8:14 and then there was bs mods yeah and then there was uh 2v2 down in la
8:19 and that's all six seasons and 2v2 up here yeah
8:22 wow that's right with jay's two cents yeah that's it
8:26 interesting so it's a classic Linus versus luke yep but the challenge is
8:33 okay so this is a multi-parter in terms of the challenge and it it just keeps
8:38 getting worse first of all we can't use the internet
8:44 that's enough right there which it didn't even occur to me means no email
8:48 and no google maps both of those things didn't initially
8:53 click for me uh that that was a that was a pretty big
8:57 deal i treat email like long text messages like i don't think of them as
9:02 anything other than straight utility like just part of my
9:05 life i think of google maps like gps yes i don't really think about obviously
9:10 it has traffic data and stuff included in it but i i never think like i am
9:14 going to use the internet to find my way to this thing exactly and like to be
9:18 clear we're not stupid we understand that that these services function over
9:23 the internet yeah but it's just not something you don't you think about yeah
9:29 because it's become so routine so anyways so yeah no use of the internet
9:32 no use of google maps also no use of gps
9:36 so if your car had a built-in gps you can't do that because that would have
9:39 been unfair because both cars didn't and not everybody
9:42 has gps in their car and it somewhat defeats the purpose anyways um of not
9:47 being able to use the internet yeah uh so then there was
9:51 the next real challenge there was like there's enough obscurity there's enough
9:56 difficulty already and then Colton on the day of i didn't know this was coming
10:00 was like by the way it's the best bang for your buck competition there's no
10:03 fixed price i didn't know that either yeah so i knew that the challenge was
10:08 going to be no internet but it hadn't really occurred to me
10:11 what exactly that meant when i heard that i was like oh yeah okay so i can't
10:15 craigslist and i can't find people online yes i didn't think about the
10:19 email part i didn't think about the maps part yeah right when we were standing
10:22 there and i was thinking like how am i gonna do this i immediately thought of those things and best bang for the buck
10:26 challenges are in a lot of ways much more difficult oh yeah then having
10:31 a fixed budget and trying to build the best machine for that budget because
10:36 all of a sudden any strategy from
10:40 fifty dollars all the way up to
10:43 five thousand dollars has the potential depending on the
10:48 workload to be the best bang for the buck yeah
10:53 like you could show up with literally
10:56 an old tower from 2012
11:00 that you found in a back alley for zero dollars and if it gets one FPS
11:06 in the game you have an infinity score you're guaranteed to win you win yeah so
11:12 um it like the the best bang for your buck challenge is enough in itself that was
11:17 season three yeah that was the competition in season
11:20 three then there's the no internet then there's the no gps
11:24 it was intense so we've got people uh joey pomeroy asks when does this all air
11:30 that is a tremendous question so we've said we're gonna do this before
11:35 but this time our sponsor is being super cool about it and dbrand has basically
11:40 said yeah we understand you guys want to do it up right
11:44 and so what we're going to do is we're going to pre-edit the entire thing so
11:50 that we can get all the pacing right
11:53 and then we've said this we've i know we've said this multiple times yeah but
11:58 this time we're and you know what every time we've gotten closer actually yes
12:02 like last time we storyboarded the whole thing and edited at least more than one
12:07 and then i think the editing on season four was
12:10 the best i still maintain that i don't know what happened that year
12:14 so but yeah so we are going to have the whole thing pre-edited so we can make
12:20 sure the pacing of the season is right and it actually should be a little bit
12:23 easier to get the pacing right because one of the biggest criticisms that i
12:27 have as a viewer of scrapyard wars is
12:31 that the first episode is always just
12:35 us typing on craigslist and yeah i agree just talking like mumbo jumbo model
12:40 numbers number model blah blah blah blah combine this with that price whatever
12:44 yeah whereas when you don't have the internet
12:48 you basically have to go we both immediately started driving
12:52 yeah we we spent like a couple minutes i sat with my head on my desk for a while
12:56 yeah and like i stood around for a sec and then was like okay yeah i'm going to
12:59 go here but like there was no googling obviously
13:03 or existing or something i don't want to spoil anything for you but you guys need
13:08 to watch this season and i will i will tell you one thing
13:12 that i did i made a sign
13:16 to go in the back window of my car
13:19 with my phone number on it your actual phone number that basically said want to
13:24 buy gaming computer did anyone call sms this
13:28 number no okay so when i do what i had that i
13:32 didn't do so it's not even a spoiler i
13:35 guess was uh setting up one of those signs and like sitting at a bus loop
13:41 i didn't do it i mean how did this is the stuff we came down to okay this was
13:46 hard how did people find each other before the internet
13:51 i don't even know okay well i thought about this uh yeah but but you wouldn't
13:56 do it anymore but classifieds and stuff right i i get where would you find a newspaper
14:02 that's that's and like no one's gonna do that anymore what kind of point what kind of like a
14:07 technology savvy person would post something in a newspaper exactly so yeah
14:11 there's really no point but like i think that's what they would have done oh man
14:15 back in the day um yeah so
14:18 anyway it's gonna be great um swap meets i
14:22 think it uh uh yeah but who runs a swap meet from no i know i'm tuesday no i'm
14:27 saying like i thought of these things yeah yeah yeah i even thought of like
14:30 what if there's like a lan party or something and i could just go and like
14:35 buy a ticket and ask people if they want to sell me their computer like adalan i
14:40 got an offer to borrow one like i could rent a computer from
14:44 someone
14:48 which technically like isn't against the right that violates the spirit of the
14:52 competition exactly which is why i didn't do it
14:56 but like the guy was like yeah you could like rent my computer
15:00 and like direct it for like a week and then just bring it back
15:06 i was like i there's technically no rule against
15:10 that but like not okay one he knew me so
15:13 it wouldn't have been fair either way yeah so that it was it was pre-ixnate
15:17 but like while i was standing there i was thinking like if he didn't
15:21 like maybe i could ask people i don't know
15:24 probably no one would do it i would never even know that you rented
15:28 it if you were just like
15:31 i got this for 10 bucks i'd have to be mad
15:36 but like well you'd watch the episode and figure it out yeah i think i'd take back your
15:41 trophy yeah i i think i i think i would take back your trophy if you won like
15:46 that that's not cool yeah because i have been known to take back a
15:50 trophy you know if i feel like how skeptical
15:53 would you be i've been missing i feel like you would have been digging and figured it out on the spot you know no i
15:58 probably would have believed you like you you've been you've been honest with
16:02 me over the years no okay it looks like a full it's probably has leds in it
16:08 like it probably has a window if i'm renting a gaming tower from something
16:11 okay right yeah no okay like i i doubt you i would ask prying questions yeah
16:16 i'd be like yes who did you get it from did they know you where did you get it
16:23 can i buy one of these now today yeah if i go there can i get one how many can we
16:28 buy and flip and make time exactly exactly
16:32 so oh i think people are really confused so
16:36 i said if you won with that strategy yeah i would take the
16:40 trophy yeah yeah um all right because if you ranked a computer for ten dollars
16:45 you're probably going to win that was like the we would never spoil scrapyard
16:49 wars you guys no scrapyard wars is like
16:52 it's like sacred around here it is you do not talk about scrapyard wars outside
16:58 of the company to ensure even a lot of people internally yeah don't know who
17:03 wins until the episodes come out so
17:06 all right did you want to do some like actual tech news or something at some
17:09 point you might as well i guess so i mean we
17:12 the people all came all the way here from uh
17:15 and you know they clearly don't know where to get their tech news because
17:18 they haven't already watched all of this on tech links yeah um
17:23 so this was originally posted by i'm a razor on the forum and uh i think it's
17:28 just i'm razer oh okay well whatever uh and the original article is from
17:33 oops um
17:37 uh uh uh properties uh deactivate uh activate
17:42 uh was this not tested duplicate maybe not um
17:48 oh wait wait wait hold on hold on new idea new idea is that even the right one
17:53 uh uh hey
17:56 oh oh oh yeah block them notifications all right
18:02 um Intel launches optane dimms so these are
18:08 sort of ddr4
18:12 sticks except they're only ddr4
18:16 in the sense that they fit in a ddr4
18:20 slot but they are not ddr4 because the actual
18:26 chips on them are not dram
18:30 they are not ddr4 right right
18:35 that's interesting so basically they're announcing the availability but it's not
18:40 like you can actually buy one right now it looks like they
18:45 will be sampling these uh
18:48 they're sampling them now and they will be shipping them for revenue later this
18:53 year but only to select customers and then broad availability is planned for
18:58 sometime in 2019. so
19:01 in a nutshell or actually let's go through some more specs first so they'll
19:04 be using optane dc sorry they'll be branded as optane dc
19:09 persistent memory so that's data center not direct current
19:12 and this is this is in contrast with optane dc ssds so those would be like
19:18 pci express or NVMe or whatever else
19:22 just regular ssds m2 and they are not to
19:25 be confused with the consumer-oriented optane memory
19:30 caching SSD that was such a terrible name for that product
19:33 like they should have just called it like the optane accelerator or something
19:36 yes obtain memory you literally you'd on the spot you just
19:40 made a far better name for it and you know what the stupidest part of that is
19:44 when i was at their launch event when they were launching optane memory
19:50 they briefed us on this
19:54 they knew this was coming they knew actual octane on a dim four
19:59 servers was coming
20:02 and they still called the little m.2
20:05 thing that accelerates your hard drive obtain memory
20:10 unbelievable yikes Intel
20:14 i love you guys dearly but holy crap sometimes probably uh
20:19 contact one of the business guys about having us help you with your naming
20:22 schemes yeah you know
20:26 a new business we need to actually be really for Linus media group you know you know as you know how many people
20:30 have asked me um when we're gonna do the next ASUS rog rig reboot
20:36 do you know where that name came from i know this story but i'm gonna pretend
20:39 that i don't because it will work better if you're telling me for the first time
20:43 so no wow you just completely
20:47 you completely ruined everything for me right now
20:51 um i've never this is i'm so interested
20:56 where did rg rig reboot come from okay so they originally um when we were when
21:02 we were pitching this uh they sent us oh what were the what
21:06 were the names that they they pitched us because we were suppose it was really
21:10 our bad we were supposed to get back to them like over a span of weeks
21:17 because they pitched us a name and we thought it
21:20 was like really bad and or generic
21:24 um that's a great picture uh yeah twitch
21:27 chat should probably see that picture okay so just
21:31 i have a really weird relationship with
21:34 my ASUS rep um i'm just gonna see if there's don't
21:40 show your screen right now though uh is there anything there is right there
21:43 there right there okay okay i got it yeah anything in here uh no that should
21:48 all be fine okay yep yeah i can show my screen now
21:51 okay um so this is an email that he sent to me
21:57 we're kind of rethinking the whole program at the moment
22:00 um so this was when we weren't sure if we were going to be working together on
22:03 it socks with sandals do not create the branding image that we are after here
22:08 the whole neochic glam southern surfer rockabilly theme is great but come on
22:14 even the socks are white and so this is a uh
22:17 this is a tweet that we had sent out uh around that time
22:21 that is me in case you guys are wondering
22:25 so if you're feeling a little you know a little aroused it's totally
22:30 fine hot and heavy yeah yeah um anyway so they they pitched totally
22:34 idea and i was super busy and had no time to think about it
22:38 so Colton walked into me at my office he's like look i'm not leaving your
22:42 office until you give me a name to give them because good job that's the last thing
22:47 holding up moving forward with this project
22:51 and so i'm like oh i i don't know maybe like um
22:56 rog rig reboot and then if they hate that like come back to me
23:00 literally on the spot we should offer
23:04 us naming things as a consulting fee
23:07 based like service to companies because they're so bad at it like did you know
23:12 that seagate's rebranding for their drives you know iron wolf and uh they still
23:17 have barracuda i like skyhawk ironwolf
23:20 ironwolf pro okay i like it too i think they did a good
23:24 job but get this to come up with that scheme
23:28 they hired the person who did the color based branding over at
23:32 wd yeah
23:36 they couldn't just copy it it's not like there was a it's not like
23:41 there was any kind of you know secret like they already had barracuda i
23:48 know like just keep going barracuda was cool
23:52 swordfish drive sure shark i don't know like
23:56 and like the the like barracuda has like two kind of steps to it so iron wolf
24:00 makes sense why didn't like shark is maybe a little bit too shirt why did you
24:04 have to hire someone to come up with that
24:09 like i'm not trying to be a jerk or anything again seagate
24:12 my friends everyone i've ever met from seagate love
24:16 you dearly but holy crap
24:20 um what were we even talking about i don't even know oh right obtain memory
24:24 oh right right right okay okay no you never actually got
24:29 you said Colton came into your office right now yeah i just mean i came up
24:32 with it on the spot because i had no time to think about it like within a
24:36 minute or two it's not like Colton stayed there for a few hours
24:39 and now i get people like messaging me or like walking up to me at conventions
24:43 being like i loved rog rig reboot when are you going to do that again like like
24:46 it's a thing now
24:50 oh yeah Intel hit us up all right so obtain a problem dc persistent memory
24:57 uh initially available in 128 gigs i just you know i like how searchable that
25:02 name is 256 and up to 512 gigs on a single module
25:09 yo dude you got pretty crazy odcpm in
25:12 your com in um so the modules are pin compatible
25:17 with standard ddr4 dems and will be supported by Intel's next generation
25:22 xeon server platforms so whoever
25:25 they are currently sampling these things too
25:28 apparently also have Intel's next-gen server stuff yeah so that gives us some
25:32 hints as to soon uh that gives them us some hints as to when we might see those
25:37 rolling out and um broad availability is planned for
25:40 2019 they are not officially disclosing whether it will be possible to mix and
25:44 match dram and obtain persistent memory on the same memory controller channel
25:48 and the 192 gigs of RAM for the
25:52 development preview systems indicate that they are equipped with a 16 gig
25:55 dram dimm on every memory channel so maybe
25:58 also not disclosed power consumption clock speeds specific endurance ratings
26:03 other than them saying that they should last for a similar lifetime to
26:08 the server with the regular memory that's in it um so i actually have to tag out with
26:13 james um but this is gonna be probably a double swap uh i actually i i sorry uh
26:18 yes but uh first i would really like to tell you guys about
26:22 oh savage jerky so that i can eat the turkey
26:27 is that is that okay can i do at least the savage jerkys yeah that's fine
26:32 uh oh i don't have my notes because
26:35 normally i load them up on there you don't know the savage jerky notes well
26:38 basically a high quality snack that's made with fresh ingredients without
26:43 nitrates or preservatives that's not bad for you they've got 13 different flavors
26:47 of drink tastes good do you guys want some jerky i'm down
26:51 all right 13 different flavors including my favorite the maple buffalo bacon
26:57 they also make barbecue sauce hot sauce and a spice rub their carolina reaper
27:01 hot sauce uses one of the hottest peppers in the world
27:04 the carolina reaper
27:07 and i gotta say you can use offer code LTT to save ten
27:11 percent that's have a jerky.com but you probably shouldn't
27:16 because the more of it you eat the more you need to keep ordering it
27:21 i think i have a problem
27:27 um okay i'm gonna let you do honey and i'm gonna
27:30 go and do one more video about something super cool yes you may have some alex
27:36 you see what happens when that is two pieces they're stuck together
27:40 wow there's a lot of guys here right now
27:44 there is see this is really interesting because we're gonna be able to open up the youtube analytics and see
27:48 the drop-off we'll be able to quantify just like how much people hate james as
27:53 a co-host no no slash love Linus or just
27:57 gotta get that laser james in their diet okay
28:02 word spreads he's on oh my god
28:06 honey is a free brow do i have a thing for this
28:10 there we go honey is a free browser extension that automatically finds the best coupons on
28:15 the web so you always get the best prices on everything you buy online you know those like old coupon websites
28:20 where you like google is their coupon for this website and you find a whole bunch in the list and most of them don't
28:24 work and they're all really annoying and blah blah it does it all for you instead
28:28 of having all that annoying stuff it works you don't get it i don't have to
28:32 mess with any weird websites it's all good while you shop honey will instantly
28:35 find every working coupon it can and will automatically apply the best
28:40 discount to your cart at checkout it's freaking awesome so it already
28:44 figures out which is the best coupon code anyways so you don't also have to do that juggle
28:49 which is nice there's like there's no reason not to use it it's pretty great
28:53 yeah yeah they've partnered with lots of online retailers like ebay and newegg to
28:57 find you the best deals they don't sell your personal information in some cases
29:01 when you use a coupon with honey they earn a small commission from the
29:06 merchant because they like they partner up with different people they do not
29:09 sell your data or give your information to third parties either which is cool
29:13 there is there's a statement in here that says there's no reason to add honey there is
29:17 no reason to not add honey to your browser today it's free just takes two
29:21 clicks to install and we'll save you money go join honey at
29:24 honey.com Linus or click the link below if you're on youtube to add honey to
29:29 your browser today honey sweet let me have spectrum
29:34 do you have yours here oh i had them sitting here for weeks
29:39 is this them yes those are the ones i normally wear but i like this orange box
29:42 oh let me try it done i'm gonna wear these ones oh yeah these aren't gonna be
29:47 for me these are kind of those are a little bit they're feminine yes
29:52 wow there we go spectrum staring at your monitor all day can be hard on your eyes
29:56 and also make it tougher to fall asleep that's the the latter note on that is my
30:00 least favorite part spectrum is an affordable long-term solution to staring
30:04 at your computer screen or phone actually as well
30:07 using a software solution like f.lux and twilight will not give you the same type
30:12 of filtering that these glasses do features include that they're stylish
30:16 you might not like these on me because i'm a very weird fit for glasses but i
30:21 think james looks better in those ones and if i had different ones they might
30:24 look better or you do like these on me who knows um they're also nice quality
30:29 and have a one year warranty which is which is good we've had these for over a
30:33 year now i think oh yeah and they look brand new so yeah
30:38 i like how flexible and light these puppies are boom
30:42 uh they have low color distortion they block high energy blue light while
30:46 keeping colors as similar as possible so yeah that is a thing any of these
30:50 glasses will have a very minor amount of color change and it is this is pretty
30:55 minor a little bit noticeable but it is very minor i've had other ones that are
30:58 a lot worse i will tell you that much uh they're primarily focused around
31:02 canadian us markets but they are working on expanding into europe and they do
31:06 offer shipping internationally they also now sell at memory express for canadians
31:10 that's interesting yeah i had no idea good for them um and
31:15 for the month of june they'll be offering 20 off spectrum glasses check
31:19 them out at spectrumglasses.com collections slash pro spec or prospect
31:26 i think it's pro spec or on memory express or through the link below if
31:31 you're on youtube today i didn't have the right banner up
31:34 ah i noticed you say coupon coupon
31:38 i say i'm a coo person coupon coupon i'm not saying you're wrong it is a u not a
31:42 double o so coupon coupon
31:46 i don't know i like that okay i'm gonna leave this banner up for
31:50 a little bit because i forgot to put it up yeah before then i have no idea what
31:53 you guys have spoken about so uh topics in a line definitely not what definitely
31:59 not that one let's talk about that one okay
32:03 there was it's been removed how long was it up there okay let's let's explain
32:08 school shooting game on steam has been removed
32:12 uh rightfully so in my opinion yeah
32:15 active shooter and wow
32:18 yeah straight up an unreleased steam game in which you play as a school
32:22 shooter a swat team member trying to neutralize them or a civilian has been
32:26 removed from the platform and both the developer and publisher
32:30 revived games and acid respectively responsible for the game have been
32:34 banned from the platform the game's trailer depicts a player
32:38 running down high school halls and through classrooms indiscriminately
32:43 murdering teachers until a swap team shows up
32:48 wow who how could you possibly think
32:54 apparently when they first were making the game it was
32:57 you couldn't play as the school shooter you could only play as the swat team
33:02 person neutralizing them it was just like a swat game with like veiled in
33:06 in that kind of scenario and then someone genius
33:11 was like do you know how we can just you should be able to play on the other side
33:14 you can be a terrorist and counter-strike you got to be a psychopath
33:19 like there's no amount of slimy there's no amount of slimy greasy marketing like
33:24 well we'll get a lot of attention or we'll make money there's no amount of that
33:28 that can motivate you to be bad incentives what does chad think what do you think chat
33:33 oh everyone can see sorry whoa
33:37 intro no whoa it was scrolled i couldn't click on main
33:41 sociopath how is this worse than gta
33:46 uh very worse i would say it's very worse
33:50 very much worse do because it in my opinion in this one you
33:55 are set up specifically to do that in gta it's
33:59 it's a choice yeah yeah well i mean you do have to rip
34:02 people out of their cars at least you don't have to punch
34:06 survival sex workers or sh or randomly shoot people walking
34:10 on the street you have a choice uh and i guess arguably in this game you don't
34:14 have to play as a shooter you could only neutralize them i suppose
34:17 uh the other thing is this is just so much in gta you can't shoot up schools
34:22 i think in the in fairness in this game you cannot shoot children
34:26 i don't even know if there's children present it might only be teachers
34:30 but still this is so much more topical in gta it's open world and like anything
34:34 can happen it's supposed to just simulate the amount of variables that
34:37 exist in the real world whereas this is just specifically like hey this tragedy
34:41 that affects now hundreds of families in the us like every week and it's like the
34:46 greatest tragedy that could happen really no
34:49 let's just do that
34:54 now the other argument here is that is censorship some people think steam
34:57 should be completely open for
35:00 whatever and some people think this takes is too far
35:04 i mean it's a platform that they own this isn't a government system
35:08 so they can kind of do whatever they want sure they can but sure but
35:13 what should their responsibility yeah i mean that's up to them like at the end
35:17 of the day they're a business if you don't like that they're removing this go somewhere else well i think they removed
35:22 it in response to outcry because this is i read about this topic it was posted
35:26 last saturday i believe on the forum originally and then it's been updated
35:29 that they they did respond i mean the graphics look terrible was this even on
35:32 their radar it would have been one of those brutal like no one knows about it
35:36 games that's what i'm talking about maybe that's why like they probably had no clue it looks it looks like junk i
35:40 don't know personally but it looks like junk some of the people most of the people on
35:44 on the game the forums associations made for outrage marketing by making a game
35:49 with stolen assets as a cheap cash grab
35:53 maker is banned because their record of making stolen asset games yeah so it was
35:57 just some like junk game thrown together in no time
36:00 it probably wasn't on steems and the dude the publisher developer
36:04 dude uh has a history of customer abuse and publishing copyright material so
36:09 and user review manipulation so he's just like so banned
36:15 but in the forums related to the game some people mostly people were saying
36:19 get this game off of here off the platform but some people were saying
36:25 that they criticize valve for the fact that it gives the boot to many games
36:29 contain containing nudity while letting the likes of active shooters stay this
36:33 is prior to the band people were saying that it's kind of like a free the nipple
36:36 thing like you're on instagram and there's you can be so scantily cloud and covered
36:41 in oil and putting your butt up against camera but you can't be like breastfeeding yeah
36:45 i don't know i it's
36:49 i i maintain to a certain degree that
36:52 like freedom of speech and whatnot is a government-based thing
36:56 and it doesn't apply to that platform
37:00 if that platform is like i don't want you shooting teachers
37:06 in a game they have full right to take that off
37:09 their platform if it becomes discriminatory for some reason then it's a different issue but i
37:14 don't think that's the case valve seems to have known who this person was
37:18 pre-existing troll history of manipulation and other things
37:22 they probably would have banned it just because he's banned regardless i'm
37:25 pretty sure he was already banned and just made a new thing to put this up
37:28 possible so like it might not even have to do with
37:31 the game itself might just have to do with the fact that they don't want him releasing stuff on the platform here's a
37:36 question for you you know how ever since the first smash school shooting
37:40 columbine people have been blaming video games notably grand theft auto and music
37:45 like marilyn manson music and most gamers
37:49 so many thousands of gamers have been like look like games are not the reason
37:53 that these things are happening well there's been studies that have proved that too sure
37:57 what about a game like this do you think a game like this that's so
38:02 like it's a simulation of of the event do you think that could desensitize a
38:06 person make them more likely to carry out such a heinous crime i think we're getting down a little bit of a weird
38:11 path here um i i don't think playing a video game
38:16 facilitates doing a crime because uh i don't think playing call of duty
38:21 inspires anyone to join the army
38:25 if that makes sense i think there are some games that can do
38:29 things like that uh but like there's
38:32 there's a video that i like that's online that takes like a pro counter
38:35 strike player and they give him like the gun that he mains with and he shoots one
38:39 bullet and he's like i'm done he's like i didn't enjoy that i don't
38:44 want to do it anymore and just leaves um so like it doesn't necessarily inspire
38:48 that i think if you are interested in cars
38:52 and then start you can go are you waiting okay all right you can just
38:55 there's no other way so like uh way to block the camera what are you
39:00 thinking okay put your head a shake man
39:04 uh if if you are already into cars and you start playing like i don't know
39:08 forza uh forza 5. sure yeah um it's that will
39:14 probably just drive that further drive
39:18 it'll steer you in that direction yeah yeah yeah it'll it'll like it's already
39:22 a passion of yours so you're doing something within that range and it kind
39:25 of just accelerates it yeah yeah
39:29 you're not putting on the brakes you're you're trying to immerse yourself
39:32 more in that right right um and i i don't think
39:36 like maybe if you're like obsessed with this stuff and you're already watching
39:39 like every new poorly done news article
39:42 where they talk about the shooter a lot and they say his name and all this kind
39:45 of stuff and you're like really really into
39:49 that type of thing and then you start playing this game like it might be a
39:53 component sure but it's not going to be like it's
39:56 not the source there's i don't think anyone's going to play this and be like
40:00 i gotta go do it like i don't think that's going to happen i think you are
40:04 already since they banned it yeah yeah you can't now good yeah i think if
40:08 you're already obsessed with the thing and already immersing yourself in it so
40:12 much it might be a component of your insanity but like
40:15 it's not do you think there's any way that a game like if you're a person like that
40:20 that a game like this could um offer you a release and make you less
40:24 likely i have no idea i am not a psychologist
40:28 um probably varies greatly between individuals yes
40:33 it as a lot of things do um because
40:36 people make arguments like that uh for prostitution
40:42 like you okay
40:45 facebook
40:49 to remove the trending topics i love like you
40:57 okay all right all right sorry facebook doing something i don't even want to
41:00 read that topic and that's about all there is to it they're removing the
41:03 trending topic sections the side of your news feed they've got a couple things uh
41:07 there that are trending hashtags usually they're news articles that are a few days behind twitter anyway and for like
41:12 four years it's been up there and people have always been questioning how facebook chooses now they're just
41:16 getting rid of it all together and they are working on some other
41:21 some other types or ways of delivering news to you
41:25 including breaking news labels and a section that collects local stories
41:31 do you have an opinion on this thing with star citizen and how you can get
41:35 you can buy this pack of dlc that includes every item in the game
41:39 but that pack costs 27
41:43 thousand dollars yeah no i think spending 27 000 on a
41:48 game uh that doesn't have a like full release
41:52 date yet and might never fully release is probably a
41:57 solid investment plan in the
42:00 post bitcoin boom i like it
42:04 so here's the thing because this may be this may be a
42:08 limited time offer so you could spend 27 grand and then
42:12 sell those ships on the black market wow and if you call in the next five
42:17 minutes you can have a dancing french guy walk in front of your camera yeah
42:20 shaking his butt in the screen guess what he's coming back again wow not one
42:24 but two wow wow
42:28 this is supposed to be the least used set yeah well
42:33 so here's the thing though
42:37 i once i once ran in i was in latvia and i had lunch with this couple from
42:41 california and they both worked in the mobile gaming space in silicon valley in
42:45 the marketing end of it and they were telling me they worked for games like
42:49 candy crush and they said that the the biggest percentage of your money
42:53 comes from whales it's it's like 99 like it's so much of it comes from wales
42:57 there's people who spend over 100 grand a year the the
43:00 the vast majority of your user base in the mobile gaming space doesn't matter
43:05 at all so is this a way
43:08 of taking money from leveraging like
43:12 the whales like do you care about somebody who the this 27 thousand
43:16 dollars is equivalent worth to you and me like 80 is like
43:21 or less or less like this guy's like a saudi prince he's like oh i can have all
43:24 of them like cool boom done the thing is though this isn't even they're not even
43:28 getting like unique items it's not like you're getting a one of a kind no one
43:32 else is getting this ship only you have this ship it's just all this you just get everything and everything in this
43:37 case is 117 ships and 163
43:40 extras i'm not familiar with the game would those extras be weapons vehicles
43:45 uh different guns different uh
43:49 modifications to the ships literally a poster in your
43:53 uh it can be a lot of stuff
43:56 lots of stuff that's cool that's worth it like a little model of one of the
44:00 ships that goes digitally in your hangar in the game
44:04 like that that could be what it is there's there's a lot of little extras
44:08 this game's a kickstarter still it's not out right
44:11 this seems like a really good way to fundraise from those whales
44:14 get the game get it out there for the rest of it but we were fundraising in
44:18 like what 2012 like what what year did this start
44:22 can i find the original star citizen kickstarter
44:30 kickstarter star citizen october 18th of 2012.
44:35 holy cow yeah dude whoa this is like duke nukem forever
44:39 status like but they're still selling stuff and they
44:42 made they raised over two million dollars originally
44:47 make the game they burned through dude it's over
44:52 we need an estimated delivery november oh no hold on let's see
44:57 one more little uh detail here is that you don't even have access to buying
45:01 this 27 000 pack of goodies unless you've already
45:04 spent a thousand bucks which is so sweet you can't even view the page
45:09 that's awesome because it's it adds this exclusivity layer which i would imagine
45:13 is oh so tantalizing to the to the whales who can afford this
45:19 how much is star citizen raised in 2018
45:22 we're googling here cyrus doesn't raise more money than every other video game
45:26 on kickstarter combined holy cow 2017. i
45:30 think this dlc pack has got to be the most expensive game related
45:34 content ever chris roberts collection of spacefaring
45:39 games raised 34.91 million in 2017.
45:46 like my god
45:51 it's so crazy stretch goals okay does it show
45:56 their total on here funding stats all right
46:05 look at that
46:08 eight whoa 107 187 million
46:14 dollar whoa what is that other statistic it says
46:18 star citizens is that that's how many people it is
46:21 probably all time probably doesn't include churn it's not current yeah
46:26 so what there's two million people playing no there's too many people that
46:29 like have accounts yeah i think it's doing people that have
46:32 paid some amount of money oh wow that's my assumption so let me i
46:37 just want to make sure they're not like procedurally generated citizens or something
46:40 no no no no no no no no no no 187
46:46 that is so much money
46:49 how much okay here hold on like like the lottery is 30 million usually
46:55 well some are that big what are you trying to find out how much
46:59 money would it take to uh
47:02 so gta 5 cost
47:05 265 million dollars so gta 5 still cost
47:09 a bunch more but that's how much they've crowdfunded that's insane
47:14 i wonder if we could crowdfund a falcon 9
47:17 rocket to like just like guys
47:21 you're all getting oh my god okay uh cars against humanity you know how they
47:25 dug the hole no you didn't hear about that no uh
47:31 i know they mailed people poop and stuff
47:34 these humanity hole
47:39 cards against humanity raises a hundred thousand dollars to dig tremendous hole
47:42 were they were they allowed heavy equipment yeah i see some heavy equipment in the picture it'd be better
47:46 if it was just shovels just because a bunch of people with
47:50 shovels i heard of some dudes who went to a party i don't know if it's a grad party or
47:53 what but they just decided to dig and they just spent the whole party digging
47:57 and then in the morning whoever the hostess just has a giant
48:00 hole in their backyard and has to like show their parents oh my god yeah they
48:04 weren't invited that's horrible what dick
48:08 okay so yeah so uh whole got doug
48:12 is apparently or holiday whole sorry holidayhold.com was a website dedicated
48:17 to the whole set up by cards against humanity and as long as money kept
48:21 coming in they would keep digging so people had to live donate money and they
48:24 would keep digging well they got more expensive overnight or something
48:28 uh well like they could pre-purchase time oh
48:32 and it got more expensive over time and apparently they got a hundred thousand
48:35 dollars so if we could get enough money for a falcon 9 to just send like
48:40 something stupid like this this is what they should do like a car with a dummy
48:44 or something you know yeah i mean like cards against
48:47 humanity should send like in a whole falcon 9 rocket like just
48:51 cards against humanity cards into space
48:54 wow that should be their next stop shaped
48:58 like a tree like it looks like a tree it's made of
49:01 tree parts holiday rocket there you go carnegie's humanity there it is that's
49:05 what you should do well that'd be good
49:09 um i think we should do one more okay
49:12 all right i'll allow it
49:16 a seuss mining motherboard this thing is actually pretty nuts so we might as well
49:20 talk about that uh our source is
49:23 field gen eg ej wow that was a all right it's very
49:28 clearly a capital j i think i would have said the same thing though it's just
49:31 kind of like a eg just kind of goes happens yeah evil genius uh i mean oh
49:36 damn right i'm gonna show you guys this it looks insane
49:40 so i actually didn't know so okay the first thing i look for is well where are
49:44 you gonna put all the 20 gpus that it supports there's obviously not slots for
49:48 it but there's a bunch of usb slots and i didn't know that you could still have
49:52 that going over PCIe like that yeah that's cool so the mining stuff has a
49:58 little a little tiny little tiny card that you
50:01 plug in that converts to usb normally so they're just skipping that step
50:06 so you don't have to have the whole lane blocked out you just have all these usb plugs you don't have to worry about that
50:10 step you still want to usb cable then that terminates back into
50:14 another thing and you're good to go that's pretty cool it's a sweet looking
50:18 board pretty nuts crazy
50:22 when's it coming mining master i don't know it says in the notes i just don't
50:26 i'm lost here oh scroll down i think i put on the bottom cause i thought it was boring
50:31 it's just it's just interesting it's one of the most interesting looking boards
50:35 i've ever seen that's why i wanted to talk about it available in north america starting in q3 like even look at the
50:40 power dude 24 pin 24 pin 24 pin eight pin
50:45 wow but does it have onboard wi-fi
50:50 i don't know get out of here i did notice that they
50:53 still had their uh can you guys see my mouse oh this one uh they still have the
50:56 like sound divider just in case you want to listen to some
51:01 jam hell of a sound card
51:05 all the atmos oh man on your 20 GPU mining rig you just gotta
51:09 rock some ac dc you're just listening to white noise
51:15 heck yeah okay are we good
51:18 is that does that conclude the lan show my god it feels weird cause i feel like
51:22 i had two wan shows hmm like it feels like this rancho is really short so i'm
51:26 like no i'm not done yet oh i see what you mean but like i think it actually
51:31 yeah i think we're i think we're about good thank you for coming to the lan
51:34 show the uh the multi-part series
51:38 elias has screwed up his dbrand on this laptop but anyways is this your phone
51:42 that is my phone is that a crack on the screen yeah it is
51:46 well see ya
51:50 intro i forgot that last time there we go obviously you can do the intro
51:56 well it's the intro and the outro
52:02 bad timing did you fart nope
52:07 what's this chair no i wasn't talking with the sound oh
52:11 that sucks savage jerky savage
52:16 spectrum spectrum honey
52:19 honey oh it does kind of smell weird a prime i believe it jinyang
