0:07 welcome to my unboxing of gigabytes update to the G1 assassin which we
0:12 actually oh yeah we have our G1 assassin system over here so we will be updating
0:17 our G1 assassin LGA 1366 machine right
0:21 there with the Dual 590s and the liquid cooling and the all the good stuff we
0:25 will be updating that with this board
0:28 once we are finished unbox ing it and once I have the LGA 2011 Mount that I
0:32 need for swifttech water Block in order to rebuild our extreme buyers guide
0:37 system so this guy's got a 5-year warranty as well as some other upgrades
0:42 over the original G1 assassin one of them is a Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi card
0:46 that is included another one is their patent pending 3D BIOS dual UEFI BIOS so
0:52 I'll be doing a video on 3D BIOS in the near future here we also have 3D power
0:57 which is basically uh gigabytes way of saying that they have three-way digital
1:02 power delivery on this particular board it's not see 3D is more like three
1:06 digital rather than threedimensional whereas this is more like three-dimensional so um yes so they mean
1:12 a couple of different things what else we got back here okay so you know what let's get the board open let's open up
1:17 the board let's cut to the chase skip to the good part take it out
1:23 of and I know someone someone is going
1:27 to make a comment on that on YouTube I no because they did it when I did my
1:31 original G1 assassin unboxing for some reason yes both the G1 assassin 1 and
1:37 the G1 assassin 2 leted out a huge fart when I open them up there's nothing I
1:42 can do about it grow up no I'm just kidding you don't
1:47 have to grow up farts are funny okay so here we go we have some bullets some
1:51 bullet holes and a G1 killer dude we've also got some more bullets and bullet
1:55 holes and more G1 killer logos we've got a poster which is different from the
2:01 G1 original series posters which
2:04 featured the gorilla the sniper and the Assassin this one is just the general G1
2:09 logo so this has oh it has the original ones on it but not the new ones I guess
2:13 they didn't update the poster fascinating okay we've got a Gigabyte
2:16 sticker included and look at all these accessories that's some good accessory
2:21 action going on here so we have our Bluetooth and Wi-Fi uh PCI Express 1X
2:28 adapter which in incidentally doesn't only work antennas on Gigabyte
2:34 motherboards it also works on whatever motherboard you want so if you happen to buy one of these boards and you happen
2:38 to need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on some other machine then you just got yourself
2:41 an extra value ad we have a crossfire Bridge a three-way SLI Bridge as well as
2:47 an SLI Bridge these are all long Bridges which is
2:51 nice let's use that long spacing this is
2:54 a USB data cable for that uh Bluetooth
2:57 card or Wi-Fi Bluetooth card it does both we've got one right angle or two
3:02 right angle and two straight SATA cables all right we've got a front 3 and 1/2 in
3:08 USB 3 doad that plugs into the header of
3:12 your motherboard so if you don't have a case that has front USB 3 now you do
3:16 next we've got an IO Shield uh some documentation including
3:21 some discs that you're going to want to go ahead and download the latest from the Gigabyte website so one disc for the
3:25 board one disc for your GC Wi-Fi that is that wireless Bluetooth guy
3:30 you got your manual you got a manual for the G GC Wi-Fi and that pretty well does
3:35 it looks like that probably went in there haha I figured out how this
3:41 works like a wizard I'm sure Harry Potter could
3:45 figure out how to unbox something it's too bad those movies are
3:49 over I enjoy the Harry Potter movies now
3:53 I'll never get to watch one ever again cuz they're not really like they're good
3:56 they're you know they're kind of fun to watch but I don't think they really Merit like a rewatch so to
4:03 speak uh you know what I'm going to put it over here so yeah here we go I'm
4:08 going to put it on its digicam camouflage box and there's absolutely
4:14 nothing camouflage about this board this board is about as like out there as it
4:19 gets so here we go let's start with the
4:23 overall package so the overall package is XL at is it XL ATX hold on just gosh
4:29 don't minute here no it's
4:33 not I'll be back in a moment so I
4:36 thought this was the XL ATX board but it turns out I was wrong the ud7 is the XL
4:42 ATX board so this is an ATX board with
4:45 an LGA 2011 socket right smack in the not quite middle but a little bit off to
4:49 the right side and it supports four dims
4:53 in Quad channel so that means you have support for up to 32 gigs of memory if
4:58 you're using 8 gig dims and potentially 64 gigs in the future when that sort of
5:03 comes out if it ever does okay what else we got here we have our 8 pin connector
5:07 and I would say it's not quite ideal location it is on the top edge of the
5:11 board but it is not over here in this corner which is where most cases are
5:14 usually putting a cutout so that you have easy access to it we've also got
5:18 our 24 pin ATX connector in its ideal location along the right hand Edge we've
5:22 got our usb3 connector in its ideal location along the right hand Edge we've
5:26 also got our SATA 36 GB per second ports right about here R SATA 2 3 gbit per
5:32 second ports right about here so that's two of those and four of those and
5:36 finally on a third party chipset we have more SATA 3 6 gbit per second ports here
5:41 now in terms of the cooling solution we're used to seeing pretty cool cooling
5:45 solutions on the G1 board so we've got kind of a sort of silencer muzzle
5:50 looking thing over here that looks like kind of like a barrel and that looks
5:54 kind of like a you know stock or not a stock what's the thing you hold I don't
5:58 know the grippy thing where you put your left hand if you're right-handed okay
6:01 and then we have a heat pipe going down to a
6:04 pistol which says Gigabyte gaming motherboard and this is hilarious you
6:09 guys are going to love this okay here here here here here here here
6:12 here heat sink not a weapon cannot be
6:15 assembled as a firearm so just in case you were wondering no you cannot
6:19 assemble it as a firearm and you're dumb
6:22 for thinking that okay not that I ever try to insult my viewers but come on
6:27 really like really okay so front panel
6:30 connectors are right about here on the bottom there's your powered USB 2 so
6:34 powered USB 2 is useful for charging things like iPads and other tablets and
6:38 good stuff like that we've also got two additional usb2 front panel headers we
6:43 have our front panel audio and we have
6:46 full support for up to three-way Crossfire or SLI so you're going to be
6:50 running 16x 16x for a dual card configuration which would leave you with
6:55 a PCIe 8X and a PCIe 1x for further
6:58 expansion or you can run 16x 8X 8X and
7:02 that would leave you with nothing else for further expansion unless you're using water blocks which is possible
7:07 what we also find down here is our Amplified onboard audio so headphone
7:13 apps I'm a big sort of advocate of using
7:17 a properly Amplified headphone output if you are using headphones especially ones
7:21 with reasonably High impedance which is anything that's higher end than a fairly
7:25 basic set of headphones so that is there we also have the onboard with dedicated
7:30 RAM killer e2100 Nick card and up here
7:34 we find all kinds of like fascinating little chips most of which I don't know
7:37 what they do here's our Fresco logic there's our Marvel which I would say is
7:43 probably powering raid but my guess would be that it's not and probably
7:47 powering the EA we got another Marvel chip over here okay lots of good
7:52 stuff hey let's look at where all the fan headers are okay so we have our CPU
7:56 fan header here you want to sort of back up a little bit for this part so oh yeah
7:59 you are good job okay CPU fan header here we've got another four pin fan
8:03 header here another one here so that's three so far we've got another one here
8:09 so that's four we've got another one here so that's five so we have five four
8:13 pin pwm fan headers on the G1 assassin 2
8:17 and let's have a look at what we've got in terms of rear IO so we have a PS2 PS2
8:22 keyboard mouse combo Port 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
8:26 eight USB 2.0 ports and OC button that
8:29 is a OneTouch overclock a BIOS selector switch that is very very handy and very
8:34 cool to see we've also got a SOS clear button two Es SATA ports so those are
8:39 those eSATA USB combo ports two USB 3.0
8:42 ports there's your killer e2100 networking and finally 7.1 audio out
8:47 including optical audio out although the omission of a microphone in a dedicated
8:52 microphone in import is a very strange one to me so what you guys can probably
8:57 see here is that this is a little bit costed down compared to the original G1
9:02 assassin but they still have left along most of the features that I would say
9:06 Gamers would care about most gamers are not loading up their system with 128
9:11 gigs or 64 gigs of memory so you've still got the four slots for Quad
9:15 Channel operation you've still got your full support for three-way SLI or
9:18 Crossfire X you got your killer Bigfoot networking you've got your headphone amp
9:23 sound card that is built in okay you know what bearing in mind okay I'm
9:27 criticizing them on the mic Port missing here but you can obviously use your
9:31 front panel mic which is probably what they're expecting you to do now that I
9:34 think about it a little bit more so yeah
9:38 thank you for checking out my unboxing of the G1 assassin 2 don't forget to
