0:00 so today on my video blog we've got the Maximus 3 formula so this is A's premium
0:07 p55 LGA 1156 board you can see from the
0:11 logos on the front it supports NVIDIA SLI and ATI Crossfire X technology so
0:15 this is a republic of Gamers board which
0:18 means you've got all of ausa's high-end features so you got a black red and
0:23 white color scheme for the board we're going to get that out in a minute here
0:26 but let's talk about a couple of the basic features that uh you will find on
0:30 it so it also features something that's new for their p-55 boards their mem
0:34 technology which basically allows you to press a button and make sure that your
0:40 motherboard is going to select the most compatible possible settings for your
0:44 memory to ensure that you can post even with more exotic RAM so that's kind of a
0:48 cool feature well let's take out the matte black box here that has all of the
0:52 accessories and there are a lot of accessories so here we've got Q connect
0:56 which allows you to plug in all your individual little pins and then plug in
0:59 into the board as an entire brick then we've got uh what appears to be an SLI
1:04 Bridge that's a very short SLI Bridge actually um the spacing must be a little
1:09 bit on the different side here's some zap zip ties then we've got the user
1:13 guide including oh this is this is interesting so there's your your drivers
1:17 and um your driver DVD and then here so
1:22 this is for labeling all of your SATA connectors I've actually never seen this
1:26 included in in a motherboard box before so you can all of the the SATA
1:31 connectors that go to all of your different drives that's that's very
1:34 unique that's uh very helpful for managing your cables and this is a
1:40 sticker oh this is a republic of Gamers sticker for the side of your of your
1:44 case that's very cool as well here we have a USB cable mhm and then we have
1:51 the io Shield right there then we've got a
1:55 whole lot of SATA cables so we' got 1 2 3 4 5 six SATA
2:01 cables and then on the back panel we've got a two USB and one
2:05 EA um IO plate and last but not least
2:10 we've got the Supreme FX uh XF PCIe 1X
2:13 audio board so that'll install in the
2:16 top slot so we're all done with the
2:20 accessories so let's get into the board itself here ah as I mentioned before
2:25 this is a premium board from Aus so it
2:29 will have almost all if not all of the high-end
2:32 bells and whistles sorts of features so let's get it uh kind of in a more
2:37 comfortable place here so we can have a look at it here all right so let's start
2:41 with the basic layout here's our two PCIe 16x slots so like almost all p-55
2:48 boards they're going to run at 8X 8X if you're running SLI or Crossfire so you
2:53 can see you've actually got another PCI e6x slot that one will run at 4X now in
2:57 terms of SATA ports you've got a ton of SATA port ports on this board you've got
3:00 two here that are labeled for optical drives you've got two here that are
3:04 labeled for um hard drives and then you've got another six these are the
3:08 ones you're going to want to use first cuz these are the ones coming off the actual chipset of the board the Intel
3:12 chipset so those can be used for anything then for power connectors we've
3:16 got the power connectors in their usual locations with the 24 pin on the right
3:20 and then the eight pin over at the top left now in terms of the power design
3:24 for the CPU you can see you can count them 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15
3:30 16 uh this is probably a 16 plus three phase power design based on checking out
3:34 how many phases there are so the three phases are actually for the uncore of
3:38 the CPU now one thing I noticed right away about this board is that all of the
3:43 fan headers oh and the cameraman's having a look at the uh at the cool
3:46 glowing logo on the North Bridge that's pretty sweet actually I really like the
3:50 uh the the fashionable sort of color choices they've gone with for this board
3:54 it's uh Far Cry better than what we've seen in the past from everyone actually
3:58 but what you can see here here this is kind of a high-end feature is that you've got all four pin pwm ready fan
4:05 headers so there are 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 eight
4:09 of them on this board all over the place that's a really cool thing to see like
4:13 all p55 boards you got support for dual Channel DDR3 memory and let's have a
4:17 look at what's available on the back so here we go we've got 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 N9
4:23 USB ports one PS2 keyboard port a simos
4:26 reset button then we've got fire wire East SATA 1 GB Ethernet port and then we
4:32 have the ASUS uh what is this thing even called actually it's called R OG connect
4:38 so you've got a port for that feature as well this button will turn that on so
