0:00 have you been itching for a computer desk upgrade but can't fit one in your
0:05 studio apartment well first things first
0:08 uh you should get that itch checked out buddy then when it turns out that it was
0:13 just some uh you know jock itch or whatever second you should watch this
0:18 video about the vector desk mini it's a
0:21 small sexy desk PC case and we're going
0:25 to show you guys how to cram a full
0:28 custom water cooling setup
0:39 it the master keys Pro keyboard lineup from Cooler Master is available in three
0:44 sizes each in white or RGB flavors check
0:48 them out at the link below when we first laid hands on the
0:52 desk panels honestly they felt disappointingly flimsy compared to the
0:58 premium expectations we we had but then
1:01 we found out the price and given the $500 price tag this can be fairly easily
1:08 forgiven instructions needed some work
1:11 even after considering the price though the early version that we got was clear
1:16 enough for us to Finish the build but for novice computer builders some more
1:20 attention to the screw threading and the positioning of the motherboard mounts
1:25 and small details like labels for the screws and documentation for the
1:30 included storage mounting could smooth out the process once the vector desk
1:34 mini actually reaches the market with
1:38 the desk assembled it's time to cram a computer inside of it now this puppy is
1:43 designed for air cooling or aiio liquid
1:47 cooling but come on we weren't just going to put your dad's Dell in here and
1:51 call it a day so we took aim at the more
1:54 accessible end of the Enthusiast Market putting together the best mult
1:59 multi-core gaming and content creation machine we could for a little over two
2:05 grand without water cooling parts these
2:08 days no budget high-end build it's kind
2:11 of a new category here is complete without an AMD ryzen 7 CPU and their
2:17 1800x 8 core 16 thread monster is the
2:21 Beating Heart of ours on an ASUS Crosshair 6 hero motherboard that gives
2:26 us solid overclocking and support for keych Technologies like SLI for multiple
2:32 graphics cards m.2 storage for lightning
2:35 fast NVMe ssds and of course systemwide
2:40 RGB lighting to keep that heart pumping at all times we added a pump and lots of
2:47 other water cooling stuff as well courtesy of our friends at EK and Alpha
2:52 cool custom Loop water cooling as we mentioned before isn't officially
2:56 supported by the vector desk mini but we couldn't resist another opportunity to
3:00 use ek's see-through Supremacy Evo CPU
3:04 block and full cover GPU block and
3:07 thanks to the unique fitting configuration on this alphao
3:11 xt45 there seemed to be enough space to
3:15 do a really clean tidy setup in here and
3:18 we wanted our desk to be as quiet as possible since it's like a foot and a
3:23 half from your face when you're using it without compromising on cooling next we
3:29 chose 32 gigs of Corsair's Vengeance lpx
3:32 ddr4 memory its low profile prevents it
3:35 from interfering with the tubing that we'll need to install later after
3:40 removing these bizarre PCI covers we
3:44 were able to mash in the sexy EK water
3:47 block equipped GTX 1080 that we had kitted out earlier now the 1080 TI might
3:54 be the king of the hill right now but the 1080 fits a little bit better into
3:58 the budget that we're Target targeting we chose Corsair's RM 1000x power supply
4:04 because while we did know that this was overkill for this project we wanted to
4:09 make sure that the fan would never spin
4:13 even while gaming ruining the Silence of the build up until this point basically
4:19 everything had gone according to the air quotes
4:23 plan but of course this is lonus Tech
4:26 tips there wasn't really a plan was there and Jake presumably because he was
4:32 busy daydreaming about whatever it is the Young's daydream about these days
4:37 eventually realized that the GPU and
4:41 radiator weren't going to work in their original positions so out came the
4:46 Dremel and off came the PCIe screw cover
4:50 then the GPU was put back into the lower
4:53 PCI E slot the 8X Lane won't affect the
4:56 performance as we demonstrated in this video here and the radiator was
5:02 replaced our Samsung 850 Evo SSD was
5:06 chosen for its clean understated looks and great price to Performance ratio and
5:11 we mounted it using the included Hardware lining the reservoir and pump
5:16 up with the SSD on the drive mounting bracket actually worked out nearly
5:21 perfectly TM one issue with this
5:24 approach was that the mounting didn't quite line up with the CPU causing the
5:29 tube going from the CPU to the pump to not be quite you know parallel and we
5:34 could have easily fixed this by drilling new holes and moving the pump over a
5:38 little bit but Jake had a hot date in his imagination and didn't feel like
5:43 redoing it so hashtag deal with it I
5:46 guess power cabling was taken care of by a cable mod who supplied us with custom
5:51 length of their sexy carbon custom cables that perfectly fit the black and
5:55 gray aesthetic of our build and for tubing we went with Primo chill's
6:00 primoflex soft tubing for its Clarity
6:03 and just general awesomeness we
6:06 installed almost $150 worth of EK fittings at this point
6:11 in an effort to make sure that our runs were as straight as possible it's not
6:17 quite Hardline Precision but we still
6:20 think it looks pretty darn good and it's quite a bit less work to execute in the
6:25 first place and to drain for maintenance in the future if such a thing should end
6:30 up being necessary bringing us to the scariest part of any water cooled build
6:37 filling it up and leak testing so paper
6:41 towels in hand we carefully filled it
6:44 watching for any leaks but fortunately
6:48 miraculously it was all assembled correctly save for the fill Port which
6:52 probably had something to do with Jake cross threading it we threw in some EK
6:57 vardar fans to handle air flow while going perfectly with our monochromatic
7:02 color scheme at which
7:06 point we were definitely ready to disguise the ugly IO cables that were
7:12 showing with some sleeving that was actually meant for a 24 pin power
7:17 connector and some electrical tape because who needs correctly sized heat
7:21 shrink anyway is that really what they did g then for the cherry on top we set
7:28 up a cable mod magnetic rgbw strip that
7:31 we use to make looking through the glass
7:34 super nice on your eyeballs speaking of
7:38 nice for your eyeballs we chose an LG Ultra wide monitor which actually came
7:43 in 4 in wider than the desk itself and
7:47 then we also used a Corsair 10 keyless keyboard since space is clearly out of
7:52 premium and to complement it a g403
7:55 mouse that is as long as you don't mind covering up your creation with a mouse
8:00 pad an MX anywhere Mark 2 would be a
8:03 great choice if you want something that tracks directly on the glass instead of
8:07 needing that uh layer in between yourself and your PC's
8:12 Beauty with all this set up now we think
8:16 and we're very objective about these sort of things that it looks pretty darn
8:21 good and it should be noted that with all the hardware installed the overall
8:25 rigidity of the desk improved to the point where it's lightweight
8:29 construction was no longer a concern but bottom line the vector desk
8:35 Mini's greatest strength also ends up being its greatest weakness its size
8:42 this desk is going to fit basically
8:45 anywhere but at the same time it doesn't
8:49 offer quite enough room for low sensitivity gaming even with a 10
8:53 keyless keyboard and a typical desk pad
8:57 ends up drooping fles ly over the sides
9:01 and forget about using a keyboard with a number pad with that said the finished
9:06 product looks and feels awesome the
9:10 price is super reasonable considering what you'd pay for just a normal
9:14 computer case with a tempered glass side panel and then just a normal desk to put
9:19 it on and if you're super strapped for
9:22 space this might just be the coolest
9:25 damn PC desk on the Block but but if you
9:30 want something that's a little bit more functional well you might want to wait a
9:35 little bit because this won't be the last desk PC we are checking
9:40 out Ting is the mobile carrier that provides more than just service for your
