0:07 thermal paste yes it doesn't make for a very interesting unboxing but thermal
0:12 paste is important without thermal paste your system just plain wouldn't work and
0:18 Arctic cooling makes some of the best thermal paste on the market their mx1
0:22 turned the entire thermal past Market which is I mean it's small but turned
0:27 the entire thermal paast Market on its ear because it was the best performing
0:30 one out there and it was a non-metallic
0:33 compound so previously the uh the best
0:37 regarded thermal paste out there was Arctic Silver 5 I mean there were some
0:40 more exotic things but uh it was generally acknowledged that without
0:46 metal content a thermal paste couldn't be a top performer like I said mx1
0:51 turned that all around and this is the fourth iteration of their MX series of
0:56 thermal compounds uh mx1 had some disadvantage
1:00 one was that it was extremely thick it was very hard to spread uh which made it
1:05 kind of inconvenient to apply and MX2
1:08 addressed that so Arctic cooling keeps taking their product which has
1:13 consistently been a top performer in the marketplace and improving it so mx4
1:17 right here features a syringe with a cap
1:21 who look at that high technology and and
1:25 viewing holes so you can see how much mx4 is left in the the syringe without
1:31 any difficulty okay
1:34 so incredibly they don't compare mx4 to
1:38 their previous generation MX3 although they do compare it against a bunch of
1:42 other products on the market lower is obviously better for cooling and they
1:47 show it against pritech pk1 GED gc2
1:51 collabor cool laboratory Liquid Ultra that was one of those Exotic Solutions
1:55 that used to be quite well regarded okay it is a non-metallic thermal compound
1:59 which means it is non-conductive non-capacitive even if you get it all
2:03 over your stuff which is still not recommended cuz total mess to clean up
2:07 uh it will not ruin anything unmatched performance so they're saying it is the
2:11 highest performance formula available durability it is non-curing and
2:16 nonbleeding which means it does not need to be replaced for up to 8 years and if
2:20 your system's actually 8 years old and you haven't done anything with it well
2:23 it's probably time to you know think about doing something different anyway that's another disadvantage of older
2:28 thermal compounds was that they needed to rep be replaced every couple years or
2:33 they would actually dry up or they would um and not be usable anymore non-curing
2:38 also means that it doesn't have uh a period where it's not fully functional
2:43 yet like I said some of the older thermal compounds did have disadvantages
2:46 one of them was that they wouldn't be 100% uh of their total performance until
2:52 they had been through a couple of heating up and cooling down Cycles so
2:56 mx1 and any of the later generation MX products do not have that disadvantage
3:01 so it's recommended for CPU GPU and any power semiconductor components so
3:05 basically anything that produces heat and has a heat sink you want to put this
3:08 between it don't forget to subscribe to L's Tech tips for more unboxings reviews
