0:01 all right welcome to the W show we've
0:05 got a lot of great topics for you guys today including but not limited to
0:11 Luke's food which actually smells a lot
0:14 better than it looks yeah because it actually looks like garbage it does I I
0:20 can't really like show you cuz it's not going to show very well yeah I don't mean yeah well I know I think they I
0:24 think they get the point I don't mean figurative garbage I mean it looks
0:29 literally like garbage like the like
0:32 people's leftover plate scraps that been for like a couple days probably that
0:37 they put but it smells really good it smells like hot and sour soup um also on
0:42 the show today we've got Google's event which includes their unveiling of the
0:46 pixel and the pixel XL yes for the uh
0:50 larger uh plus-sized Among Us no plus-
0:54 siiz is different um plus-sized hands I'm a plus-sized
0:59 hand model like I mean I'm not but I I
1:03 was I was playing a part Galaxy Note 7's
1:07 still problems lots of problem T tons of terrible problems well there's one
1:12 problem a singular terrible problem yeah there's one problem it's just really
1:16 terrible that's all um Google is
1:19 Reinventing Wi-Fi again and by Reinventing I mean taking
1:26 something that has existed for a very very very long time and doing doing it
1:30 in an affordable device that's targeted at consumers because why hasn't that
1:35 ever been done up until this point what
1:38 else we got also I tried the hollow lens
1:41 for an extremely short period of time let's talk about that that's solid man
1:51 yeah wait for it no Hollow no I got it
1:55 oh yeah oh I'll just roll the intro okay that became awkward
2:03 what is
2:19 that oh apparently the intro audio is very low all right well um
2:24 Squarespace and also oh crap okay Squarespace and also dollar shape club
2:30 and also stalling for time while I turn up the intro audio which I forgot that
2:35 we fixed at some point so I don't have to turn it down all the time
2:39 anymore yeah all right it wouldn't be
2:43 the W show we were mostly on time no we
2:46 weren't it's 4 was 4:45 last time it was like 520 well that's true but last time
2:51 we were trying to have you call in from Tim Buck 2 and the audio should not be a
2:55 complicated problem no it shouldn't be but the audio sliders I swear I swear
3:00 they were like it was like exploding in my ears when I listened to the like the
3:07 the sound in the corner and you I could
3:12 barely
3:15 hear and I couldn't adjust I couldn't adjust our our voice chat we tried two
3:20 different video chat clients and I couldn't adjust that without adjusting
3:24 the system slider and whenever I adjusted the system
3:28 slider explosion I've been trying to get Discord to include video chat that would
3:34 be awesome um I was trying to get them to specifically do it so that you can
3:38 add the video of the person's video chat as a like camera in xplit right um they
3:44 don't really want to do that they want to do the video chat thing they don't
3:47 really want you to be able to add it as because that's more complicated I'm like but seriously that would be amazing
3:53 discord's whole thing by the way they are not a sponsor today on the L show uh
3:57 but like discord's whole thing like talking to their guys
4:00 it's so cool because they're just so down to earth I'm just like they're
4:05 pretty chill why did you guys build a video chat platform and they're like
4:09 well cuz like we couldn't figure out why everything else was
4:15 terrible thank you that's why everyone
4:18 should develop everything yeah they still have a lot of ground to catch up
4:22 on like they they need to have like tiered chat things and that's coming I
4:28 think and they need some other stuff but I like the platform anyways I like the
4:32 philosophy is what I like all right speaking of philosophies the Google
4:36 Nexus device it's
4:41 gone it's gone the way of the Play Store
4:44 Edition like Galaxy what was that like in the S5 days or whatever it was when
4:49 they used to do the Play edition yeah so
4:52 so for a while there Nexus and Play edition kind of existed alongside each
4:57 other so Nexus were these Google excl exclusive sort of devices sometimes they
5:02 were quite similar to a device that the actual manufacturer of the hardware
5:07 would also release with their own Android skin and then we got play editions where Google kind of adopted
5:12 devices that were already out there on the market so HTC had a one Play edition
5:17 for example um and then now we are doing
5:22 away with that and we're getting something that is
5:26 completely completely built sort of by
5:29 gole gole so everything about the design everything about the hardware everything
5:33 about the software is Google both inside
5:36 and out now with that said uh we actually talked about this on the on the
5:40 show intro like clip that nobody watches as far as I can tell and that's okay I
5:44 don't blame you but they're actually quite funny they're they're worth going and finding they're often like better
5:48 than the first bit of the actual show yeah honestly I mean nothing against you
5:53 or me we're great we're always great what does that have to I just mean you
5:58 know the sometimes our best work is not actually on the show it's when we're
6:02 like excited about starting the show yeah um anyway the point is that it's
6:07 still manufactured by someone else because Google doesn't own like a phone
6:12 manufacturing facility yet I mean even Apple doesn't
6:17 own a phone manufacturing facility um so it's actually manufactured by HTC but
6:22 you won't find an HTC logo on it this is a Google phone so the pixel and the
6:26 pixel XL feature an aluminum unibody and
6:29 glass design a highdef AMOLED display a Snapdragon 821 processor 4 gigs of
6:33 lpddr4 memory a rear fingerprint sensor which I'm personally kind of bummed
6:37 about we can debate this after if you'd like uh 2770 or 3450 milliamp battery
6:44 and what they are claiming is the best camera ever yes although again this is
6:50 something that I'm going to have to see to believe because there's a lot more to
6:53 a mobile camera than just how it scores
6:57 on what's it called basemark I think
7:00 what's the The Benchmark I I can't remember what it's called it's one of
7:03 those things that I like look up before I have to talk about but I didn't today
7:07 because I didn't prepare for this so I'm excited though largely because of the no
7:12 camera bump thing no camera bump is great but okay okay fine I won't I won't
7:17 finish everything I'm talking about I am going to talk about the camera so just
7:20 because it gets a great score when it's uh doing what what are effectively the
7:25 equivalent of synthetic benchmarks like if you're shooting at lines and seeing
7:29 how close lines can be before you can't resolve them anymore all that kind of
7:32 stuff just because something performs well there does not mean that it
7:36 performs well in the real world of course um I mean a perfect example of
7:40 this was the axon 7 whose camera can
7:43 actually take a pretty darn great shot
7:47 but as I showed in my review if the subject is oh I don't know say moving
7:53 the axon 7 in order to achieve the image quality that it does in their you know
7:58 in like the the the glamour shots that you would take with it needs a much
8:04 longer shutter speed than the Galaxy S7 did so when I took pictures under the
8:09 same lighting conditions with both cameras of a moving subject you can tell
8:13 that even though they might be similar in quality the ones that you're actually
8:18 going to get usable pictures out of like in your day-to-day life when your kids
8:21 or your dogs or your you know to be fair
8:25 moving already photos from it taken by third party reviewers and that's that's
8:30 fine in not in not ideal lighting situations and ridiculously rapid fire
8:35 because the shutter speeds really fast and that's fine and I totally looking
8:38 forward to it we definitely do have a phone two phones actually I think being
8:42 provided by dbrand yeah I think um much like so I shot my iPhone 7 and 7 plus
8:47 video today so we'll just have b-roll of both of them so we can kind of cover
8:50 both moving on it's got 32 or 128 gigs
8:54 of storage I actually think this is a good move they don't have to have as
8:57 many skes uh no no dit 64 yeah just not
9:01 having an in between like who needs the tweener you either need a bunch of
9:04 storage on your phone or you don't really care in which case 32 gigs is Lots love it especially because this
9:10 phone in particular I don't really see any reason why I would need a 128 um
9:14 because it comes with unlimited full quality photo storage using Google
9:19 photos so that is pretty freaking sick I
9:24 mean that's a yeah honestly like for me
9:27 all that stuff say Snapdragon 821 blah blah blah no camera sure that's great
9:32 but not many photos yeah I take tons I
9:35 have kids oh yeah okay yeah I might like
9:39 I might like have dinner and take 40 photos cuz I'm like oh they're so cute
9:43 look at me taking all these photos of them terrible that they're never going to look at terrible and I'm never going
9:47 to show to people cuz I don't want to be that Dad but are you doing that thing
9:51 yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah but I don't need that many for that yeah so
9:54 true there you go um I was just like
9:57 what yeah yeah don't wor everything's okay I'm doing the thing there is a 3.5
10:04 mm headphone jack holy I don't know
10:07 how they managed to fit it on this phone
10:10 um I don't even know why they thought it was necessary I mean who uses that's
10:13 like who uses wired headphones it's like they're not courageous yeah UNC
10:18 courageous is the word that I would use to describe you know I very recently
10:22 checked out this little robot thing and it has like emotions one of them is
10:26 courage theirs is probably like negative no no no I I I don't want to hear about
10:29 about this robot anymore unless it doesn't have a 3 and half mm Jack oh no
10:33 it doesn't it doesn't Okay courageous carry on there we go yeah so it has
10:36 different emotional and A1 is like a full point so
10:41 anyways you guys will see the video on that later yeah I mean isn't it kind of
10:46 crazy the way we work on videos that won't hit YouTube for like 3 weeks now
10:50 long time yeah it kind of trips me out actually it's a little unfortunate
10:54 considering a certain one that is currently on vessel after just sitting
10:57 around for like a while and new information has come out since then
11:01 which hurts it a little bit not not like a lot like it's not a big deal but just
11:06 looking back at it it's like oh I could have had more stuff that one yep oh the
11:10 what killed VR one so this Google thing just happened and they just announced
11:15 their Daydream thing Daydream view yeah
11:19 there's more information in there that would have been helpful to include in
11:23 that script all right so hold on let's finish up with the pixels uh there's
11:27 three colors I actually love the names of their color quite black really blue
11:30 and very silver it's such a shot at all the
11:36 complete nonsense that I blame lipstick
11:40 manufacturers okay that's fair if anyone in the lipstick industry is out there
11:46 you are to blame for this crap that we all go through where it's like it
11:51 passion red Sunrise I mean those aren't
11:55 even that bad a little bit like non-pg for a second cuz well that's what their
11:59 names are to be fair like once you get to a certain realm there's like like
12:03 there's even hair products they're just called like sexy
12:08 hair you're not even trying anymore it's
12:11 like bangable
12:15 red they just some companies should just go flat out like Yep this lipstick color
12:23 is bangable job Rose like I don't know
12:26 where's the limit
12:30 oh my God that would be the most hilarious lipstick we're goingon to lose
12:34 all of our we're gonna lose all of our sponsors they're all gone sorry I got a
12:39 call coming in I got a call coming in from Nick sorry sorry he can't say them
12:44 fast enough all the sponsors that are abandoning the show but we've gained a
12:47 new one they make lipsticks called room jop red we are now their only it tastes
12:57 awful oh God okay uh moving on okay so
13:01 Daydream view the first Daydream ready VR headset go so Daydream we've talked
13:06 about on the W show before is like kind of a certification process for Android
13:10 phones where you have to have the the right like movement teex so it's
13:15 accurate it knows exactly where the phone is inside it's fast enough the
13:18 processor is good enough etc etc etc and
13:21 then there's Daydream content now they have Daydream view which is like the
13:26 headset thing that you put the phone in it's compatible with the different a bunch of different types of phones it's
13:30 not uh locked down to like HTC because
13:33 HTC is the one that made the pixel it's kind of whatever you want to put in
13:37 there um which is cool and stuff the
13:40 reason why I was against it yeah what I
13:44 just said is having this information
13:47 would have pushed in really well to a video that's currently on vessel yeah
13:51 like u i mean you can think you can talk about it a fair bit I mean it's okay so
13:54 the still going to watch it yeah the video is called what killed VR um um it
14:00 it started from a wow from about three weeks ago where we talked about how
14:04 desktop users adoption of VR has gone down so like desktop VR like the opaque
14:09 tethered realm of VR that is
14:14 yeah oh so you break VR into quadrants
14:18 MH there's tethered so there's there's tethered and untethered and then there's
14:21 opaque and transparent oh I understand okay opaque yeah so like opaque tethered
14:25 would be Vive in Oculus Rifts um opaque
14:28 un tethered would be gear VR uh
14:31 transparent untethered is the hollow lens and then
14:36 transparent tethered is who would want
14:40 that there's there is one I don't remember what it's called yeah sounds
14:44 stupid I don't think it works very well if I remember corly I can't imagine it
14:47 would yeah so don't worry about that but there's like yeah there's the quadrants
14:51 so it's like why the opaque tethered side of things is not is losing adoption
14:55 rate um and I talk about like the Gear V
14:59 are and it would have been helpful to talk about Daydream view people are
15:02 still subscribing using twitch Prime peter meter 909 just subscribe using
15:07 twitch Prime apparently Colton told me this so it might be completely off base
15:13 um but apparently we have 500 subscribers
15:17 now that's crazy twitch Prime is different like uh it doesn't Auto re
15:23 like it's it's not really a subscription because it doesn't Auto reup oh okay but
15:28 they could come back and just click the button again and then it would do it oh
15:32 cool okay sorry carry on Daydream anyways um so like it's 79 bucks which
15:37 is price competitive with the 2015 gear VR not price competitive with
15:42 the 2016 gear VR um but
15:46 like I mean that's a $20 difference so
15:49 it's probably not that bad in the end um
15:53 they have a lot of like I'm not really going to be able to comment on this
15:56 properly but they talked a lot about the the overall design and the comfort and
16:00 the fit and the finish the stuff that I can't say anything about at all until I
16:04 touch it and try it and I haven't touched it and tried it so whatever um I
16:09 can say however that they did use fabric for the Touch faces which is good this
16:14 is what you kind of see with like uh the rift the Oculus Rift instead of the
16:18 Vive um they focused on comfort and ease of use it connects to the phone it has a
16:23 wireless connection to the phone which is kind of cool and an auto alignment
16:26 system stuff like that um it has a
16:29 controller with clickable touchpad and two buttons and there's sensors inside
16:33 that respond to how you move and stuff like that just yeah maybe it'll be okay
16:39 watch what killed VR I requested a review sample cool so maybe we'll get it
16:44 or maybe we won't they actually didn't reply to me so
16:48 nice yeah cool all right so let's talk
16:52 about some of the home stuff that they wanted to uh that they want you to put
16:56 in your home chomecast ultr here so you can content at up to 4K UHD uh it
17:01 supports HDR and Dolby Vision I mean I
17:05 color me skeptical as far as the whole is HDR okay HDR I can see making a
17:12 difference on something that you are
17:16 streaming and casting to a TV I mean we
17:19 are we are talking compression up the wazo at this point um even even taking
17:25 like 4K uh something like Marco Polo Okay so taking 4K HDR
17:32 content right off of your internet connection into your TV's built-in
17:36 Netflix app which are the ones that actually tend to get upgraded first when
17:40 there's a new feature there there's still a very
17:45 debatable um benefit to 4K resolution
17:49 HDR I can see making a difference because the additional color information
17:54 um it makes it look you're as a
17:58 bandwidth problem I'm saying that I doubt that 4k on a chomecast is going to
18:04 be anywhere near what 4K is capable of
18:08 and it's a bandwidth because yeah yeah because of all the compression so you're
18:12 still going to see compression artifacts and bending and
18:16 blockiness even though you have technically 3840 by 2160 pixels yeah
18:23 because if they had if they tried to do it all uncompressed and everyone tried to stream at the same time that would be
18:28 bad not to mentioned that I mean a a 4K
18:31 HDR Blu-ray is like 50
18:34 gigs so if you're not wired you're you're not
18:39 getting that level of quality um I
18:42 actually have my stable of 4K Blu-rays
18:46 now MH and I have an Xbox One S now and
18:50 so I have definitely not uh ripped the
18:55 because it's great because the 4K Blu-rays also come with the regular Blu-ray
18:59 so one thing I was worried about was that I was going to have to have two Blu-ray players on two separate inputs
19:04 but I can just have my PC and I can stream the regular uncompressed Blu-ray
19:07 rips and then I can have the Xbox that I don't have and then I can have the Xbox
19:12 connected to another HDMI input and Brandon's going to help me with this
19:16 we're going to just be able to flip between them just by changing inputs so
19:20 we can do a lot of side by side watching and uh in comparison so those are all
19:24 here I have a question uh how long until this is called the Google Cast and
19:29 Google Cast Ultra I don't know because we have Google Wi-Fi we have Google
19:35 home and then we have chomecast
19:39 right I I have no idea it's confusing to me and I mean like Samsung is going the
19:44 obvious intelligent route of just naming
19:47 everything gear so there's no confusion every sing
19:52 talking about this I thought that was stupid I thought no I'm yeah oh yeah no
19:55 calling everything gear is dumb I I didn't realize how extensive it was was
19:59 until I was doing the research for kill VR and I actually went on their website
20:02 and clicked on products and was like oh my god well I was doing an editing pass
20:05 of one of his scripts and I kept
20:08 referring to the Gear VR as the gear and
20:12 I was like nope that won't work because and you can't just call it gear VR
20:17 either because there's 15 or 2015 and 2016 versions maybe they're trying quite
20:22 different maybe they're trying to take like the bum equipment approach you know
20:27 where it's like Sam gear like they're actually just going to change the brand
20:31 oh no I'm oh no no I'm I'm joking I mean they're close to that though yeah
20:36 they're not that the Samsung Gear Galaxy
20:39 S7 XL explosion Edition
20:46 um you know okay seus you guys have seen seus on our Channel a few times the big
20:51 twitch streamer guy he not that Fusion kind of skinny actually no I meant like
20:56 anyways uh he he was was plugging his
20:59 Note 7 in at the beginning of his streams every time just like see if it
21:04 would
21:07 happen how hard do stre so awesome how
21:10 hard do streamers work to have dumb
21:14 stuff happen on their streams what do you oh yeah probably I mean at that
21:17 point you're just like you're inviting it I mean why don't you just have a bucket of gas sitting next to you and
21:22 strike a match at the beginning of every one of your streams hey let's just see
21:26 if let's just see if the currents in the room are blowing this way or that way
21:32 today people would really tune in for the start of all your streams yes they
21:36 would viewership boom would be really fast that is
21:40 irresponsible nah yes yes what do you
21:43 mean nah there is no n there's no it's not open responsible for getting tons of
21:47 views it's not open for debate um all
21:51 right so there's more to the chomecast ultra than just 4K though uh Google blah
21:57 blah blah so Google Play movies and TV are rolling out 4K content in November
22:00 that's cool that's also 4K that's not what I promised you just now it's also
22:04 1.8 times faster at loading content and features major Wi-Fi improvements which
22:08 it bloody well better if it's going to be doing anything Ethernet yes so
22:12 Ethernet for power users so that takes care of some of my concerns with respect
22:17 to 4K content not all I actually don't
22:20 know if it's gigabit or 1000 regardless there's still going to
22:24 be compression it's not going to solve the problem entirely they're going to
22:27 compress it before this to you they're not going to send completely uncompressed footage yeah anything
22:31 you're streaming over the Internet like honestly I bought House of Cards on
22:35 Blu-ray even though that's dumb because I have a Netflix subscription it's a
22:39 really well-shot show though and I'm starting to become a bit of a
22:43 cinematography snob it he did it to me I
22:46 he does it to everyone he do to me too I hate him because like I love
22:50 him well it's a LoveHate relationship he loves him I hate him
22:55 so like I don't even understand necessar
22:59 why things are wrong but you can feel it but you can feel it now when like before
23:03 I just didn't care like I can't even watch Big Bang Theory anymore and like
23:08 yeah I thought it was pretty funny but he he's on some podcast he complains
23:13 about all kinds of like like stupid stu
23:16 stuff but like wait Brandon's on a podcast I think so really was a guest or
23:22 something oh huh how about that well not yet like it's I think it's happening or
23:27 I don't know well I hate him um all right so Google in the home Google Wi-Fi
23:33 is an expandable system of APs now every time that anyone's tried to do this in
23:37 the past it's been stupid I mean this is
23:42 imperfect as well to be very clear but
23:45 whenever we've seen this in the past it's been really really stupid like it's
23:49 been oh yeah you should have a Wi-Fi
23:52 range extender which are awful God I hate
23:57 those range extender ERS are the worst your connection gets interrupted as you
24:01 cross over the barrier literally terrible unless you're going to leave a
24:04 gap in between two they range is awful
24:08 and the problem with that is that because their range is awful you can't
24:12 actually move them very far away from your original access point well unless
24:16 you're doing like one of those Ethernet extended ones even those ones have been
24:20 every time I've used one terrible oh yeah terrible experience unless you're
24:25 just like okay I give up I'm just going to have a separate SSID Linus's house
24:30 basement yeah yeah and that's what this is going to be well that's what I'm
24:33 saying if if you put it like I've seen some people that use them and they'll
24:36 put them in like the garage where the House Wi-Fi doesn't get to at all and
24:40 then just call the same thing and put the same
24:43 password which works if you have somewhere where your house Wi-Fi doesn't
24:48 reach at all it's complet yeah but it has to be completely dead otherwise phones are so bad for this they're so
24:53 sticky a sticky client is one that
24:56 doesn't grab a stronger signal very actively it just stays on some we saww
25:02 signal trying to transfer data knowing
25:05 that it can't do it I mean it's giving me an error on the screen that says the
25:09 web page can't load then try something else this doesn't seem that complicated
25:14 Windows phone is great at this your Wi-Fi cuts out switches over to data I
25:18 mean it's the one thing that I miss
25:21 about using Windows phone um okay so I'm going to drop in one of the little kind
25:26 of funny things about me being at Microsoft right now I know we're going to talk about Hollin yet but what you
25:30 just said was hilarious um while I was down there we were talking about uh
25:34 insert NDA currently covered content
25:38 here so there you go and I was like what
25:42 platforms is this coming to um is it going to be on you know tried to like be
25:47 subtle about it like hey you going to release this on more things than just
25:51 Windows phone and the person insert NDA
25:54 covered name here um was like well we're
25:58 going to try to get to where the people
26:02 are oh oh that's not nice to
26:09 themselves so it's going to be on their platform first so they can like kind of
26:14 work things out I mean I just think that's not fair to their users either I
26:17 mean calling everyone who uses Windows Phone a chimp not of people well okay I
26:22 think they might have said it a slightly different way but yeah yeah I just not
26:27 to go on for too long about this I think it's part of the new CEO kind of deal
26:31 yeah because before they used to be very like don't compete with their own products kind of thing and now they not
26:37 good anyways anyway back to Google Wi-Fi so the hardware is designed to be
26:41 visually subtle W and it comes with a feature set called Network assist which
26:45 optimizes which AP you're accessing they also give you a network management app
26:51 impressive and it works together with uh Google on hubs the pre-orders are
26:55 available in November shipping in early December 130 bucks for a single unit
27:00 $2.99 for a three pack they really want you to buy that three pack they do uh
27:04 and I mean I understand why so it's kind of a mesh-based network thing that
27:07 they've got going on here which still is going to hurt your data transfer rates
27:13 with that said wii AC I actually don't know if it's Wave 1 or wave two which
27:17 would be interesting because if it's wave two iPhone 6 S's and 7s are
27:22 actually going to perform really well even with a couple of hops um
27:28 but AC Wi-Fi has gotten fast enough that for most anything You' need to do if
27:32 you're going through a hop or two you'll probably still be okay both latency and
27:37 bandwidth wise so I'm really interested to see how this works out I don't
27:40 generally cover Wi-Fi stuff anymore because it usually makes me want to rip
27:43 my hair out um because things just don't work the way that you expect but the
27:48 great news about this product is that it is designed to be easy to use basically
27:52 you just take these things you scatter them around all over your house and bippity boppity it's supposed to be
27:56 amazing coverage everywhere seamlessly so if anything doesn't work seamlessly
28:01 then I just get to say that instead of trying to problem solve it so there you
28:05 go let's find out how that goes uh Google home uh seems like a huge Focus I
28:09 don't really care because it's not available in Canada so it's 129 bucks
28:12 includes a six-month free trial of YouTube red and pre-orders are available
28:15 now for first class citizens down in the United States of
28:20 America uh yeah I was going to say we could just ship it and bring it over the
28:24 we've done that before that didn't work out very well that did not work out well with the echo all right
28:28 let's move on to our next article original from The Verge I actually
28:32 posted it already a post recall Galaxy
28:35 Note 7 caught fire on a Southwest Airlines flight with a thick gray green
28:42 quote unquote angry
28:45 smoke pretty uh that looks delicious
28:49 yeah yeah that that looks about as appetizing as your food hey man that's
28:53 pretty true oh it's actually good it just looks terrible it smells great yeah
28:58 it's good though it looks like monkey butt it's like kale and brown rice and
29:02 corn and peppers and chicken it sounds awful too I mean it tastes all right
29:06 yeah it smells good yeah smells good
29:09 yeah the phone is currently in the hands of the local fire department with the
29:14 arson investigation unit so I guess they're trying to figure out who they're
29:17 going to throw blame at um which I think we can probably guess the owner of the
29:23 Note 7 that caught on fire has already replaced it with an iPhone 7 uhoh
29:33 so that sounds super
29:36 surprising to be clear this is one of the units that Samsung has already
29:41 deemed to be safe y the phone was
29:45 charged to about 80% when the incident occurred and when the IMEI was run
29:51 through Samsung's recall eligibility Checker it read great news your device
29:55 is not in the list of affected devices if you have any other questions contact
29:59 us at blippity bloy Blue so they issued a statement okay
30:04 until we are able to retrieve the device we cannot confirm which is currently
30:07 held by the fire department we cannot confirm that this incident involves the
30:11 new Note 7 they're possibly trying to say that it's the old one we are working
30:15 with authorities and Southwest now to recover the device okay so they're work
30:20 at the fire department I guess and confirm the cause once we have examined
30:24 the device we will have more information to share although I think that's
30:27 literally exactly what's happening right now is the government is examining the
30:31 device so I don't really think it matters too much what Samsung finds it
30:37 matters a lot more what the government finds the US consumer product safety commission is opening an investigation
30:41 into the incident and this seems to be the first reported incident of a
30:44 replacement phone going bad at least in the US if it's actually a replacement
30:49 phone all right apple is has apparently
30:52 patented a fingerprint sensor that works through the display that's pretty crazy
30:57 the headline here and I'm posting the original Apple Insider article in the
31:01 twitch chat here the headline reads hints at iPhone 8 technology although I
31:06 would be very surprised if we see this in the iPhone 8 because if apple is yeah
31:11 I did if apple is patenting it now what you guys need to understand and Luke
31:16 will have a lot of really cool information about this in that upcoming Microsoft coverage do not miss those
31:20 Microsoft videos they are going to be very cool um there's no way if apple is
31:25 patting it today that it will be anywhere near the iPhone 8 yeah mark my
31:29 words the development cycle of a product like that is at least 18 months to 2
31:33 years at least it'll be a while so it'll be a while but it sounds really cool
31:40 unless they were just like hedging their bets that no one else would figure it
31:43 out and tried to just place the pl patent last minute but that's very
31:47 uncharacteristic and very unlikely so it's rumored that the 2017 iPhone will
31:52 get rid of the iconic home button entirely making way for a full screen
31:56 face edgo Edge OLED display um apple is said to be working
32:00 on a virtual button which presumably carries over the same features and
32:03 functions I mean the taptic engine is I'm just going to say that that would be fine one step in that direction already
32:09 yeah but I would be very surprised if they try and do something so dramatic
32:13 two phones in a row especially because we already know that the S variant
32:18 usually changes very little yeah over the nons variant yeah so if something
32:24 like that were to happen oh I guess they are saying iPhone 8 but then they're saying 2017 device okay well they can't
32:28 decide what they're talking about rumors so maybe but I doubt it because the
32:36 27 excuse me the 2018 iPhone would be
32:39 yeah that would be hold on a second that would be two years away okay maybe so
32:42 we'll see I'm not good at time and
32:45 math what was I talking about again uh
32:48 we're now talking about Washington State gambling commission which has ordered
32:52 valve to stop skin gambling via steam oh
32:56 I wanted to talk about some of the tech in though did you yeah so with most
33:01 fingerprint sensors separation between the contact surface and the capacitive
33:04 sensing array results in a blurring of the finger electric field leading to
33:08 degraded fingerprint image resolutions and degraded recognition accuracy
33:11 Apple's proposed implementation uses electrostatic lenses uh described as one
33:16 or more patterned conductive layers so depending on the position relative
33:19 voltage and shape the layers are able to shape or bend the electric field
33:22 associated with the user's fingers which sounds really cool
33:30 that was the reason I went to go move on I was just like okay all right did you
33:35 post this already now it is all right I'm going to go ahead and screen share
33:39 it you go ahead and tell us about this so I think it's pretty self-explanatory
33:42 actually there is a huge amount of notes here um but I don't actually think
33:47 there's a ton to say basically Washington state is deciding that at
33:52 least to a certain degree valve is facilitating
33:56 this intentionally or not they seem smart the gambling commission knows
34:00 what's up yeah like intentionally or not it is happening that it's their platform
34:07 and much like you would have to take care of your
34:11 land they're going to have to take care of their platform yep and I mean it's
34:15 one of those things where there's the whole plausible deniability like oh gee
34:19 yeah I I created this infrastructure for
34:23 handling you know uh lottery tickets and I created these templates for lottery
34:28 tickets and I created all these really fun things for people to buy lottery
34:32 tickets about and I created a way that the money could change hands but like no
34:37 I mean all my customers that are coming to me and buying all these supplies well
34:41 I'm not responsible for what they're doing and yes that's an extreme example and that's not really fair and it's not
34:45 the same as what valve's doing but the reality of it is that gambling laws are
34:51 serious for a reason and gambling laws
34:54 especially as they pertain to miners are serious for reason
34:59 miners no offense to the miners who are
35:03 watching okay you want to mine coal all day that's cool okay your face is dirty
35:08 that's fine you know when you go have a shower that all comes off everyone's
35:12 feeling good you're looking good this not what I'm talking about at all yeah
35:16 but many of the miners that I have known and that I have met are stupid and they
35:22 are not ready to understand the risks
35:27 that they're taking with gambling and the impact that that can have on their
35:32 lives so so a big part of the problem here is that valve has rules against
35:36 stuff like Bots and its user agreement but it knowingly allows the Bots that
35:42 are handling all the gambling trading to continue that's a big part of the
35:46 problem they're they're being like yeah you shouldn't be able to use Bots except
35:51 those Bots that are trading things and indirectly make us lots of money yeah
35:55 those are going to be completely fine um and it like is completely knowledge
35:59 about all these things and is letting it happen which is part of the problem it
36:03 has been said if valve does not comply that they risk the seizure and
36:07 forfeiture of property used to conduct these illegal activities forfeiture of
36:12 its corporate charter as well as criminal charges so they just absolutely
36:17 dropped the book cool like stop this immediately basically oh okay
36:23 no looks like uh looks like looks like
36:26 all the people who hate on our audience were right our audience is entirely made
36:30 up of miners not all of them coal miners okay some of them gold miners okay and
36:36 all those gold miners they're they're canceling they're canceling all their
36:39 Prime subscrip used to be plumbers and
36:43 are now minors and are now minors yes interesting yes yeah very cool a lot of
36:48 them are carpenters now too oh yeah why
36:51 is that uh because we have DIY desk PC that we just released yeah many of our
36:55 viewers are also Carpenters that are much better than you I'm sure
37:00 well they're all better than me but right probably most of them aren't
37:03 better than my dad so he's the one who did it oh now there were some
37:07 questionable things that we did do for the sake of saving a few bucks and stuff
37:11 okay but like literally everyone that I know that makes things does that yes so
37:15 sometimes that's a reality yeah all right we don't all work in like Boutique
37:21 uh what what is it called the like super fancy ner uh word for handmade things
37:27 yeah Boutique I think no no no no no there ety
37:32 no Craftsman no uh it's like this
37:36 hipster word uh someone in chat is probably
37:40 saying it I feel like it starts with a B but I'm not sure tell you what I'll
37:44 monitor for that you talk about Hollow lens mcraft didn't know okay yeah
37:48 bespoke bespoke oh all right yeah see
37:52 hipster word starts with a B kind of like that I mean could we turn the
37:55 pretentious down to 11 well that's what I'm saying yeah yeah
38:00 yeah yeah anyways Hollow lens I'm going to do a little demonstration if you can
38:03 turn that screen so I can see it this will help me a lot yep yep yep I want to
38:08 show everyone something okay so this
38:12 thing right here this camera this is your eyes you're wearing a hollow lens
38:17 right now this is a it's obviously this isn't reality I don't think they can
38:20 hear you very well you better speak up can you talk to me okay this camera is
38:25 your eyes this is your VIs currently and you are now wearing a Hol lens this is
38:30 how this is going to work there is a video playing in the middle of the Hol
38:34 lens and you can see the edges of it because it has colors going all the way
38:37 to the end it does not have a transparent background in this video the
38:41 video is about oh this is going to be really hard to do the video is oh God
38:45 this is really hard to do uh is about that much of your
38:50 vision is that cool do you enjoy that I enjoyed it I
38:57 look like I enjoyed it is that a fantastic
39:02 experience this is a this is a question that I'm asking you was that was that
39:06 good did you did you like that much of like no of course they didn't they hated
39:10 everything about it yep they said it they said it was trash it sucked anyways
39:15 trash nope I was able to use hollow lens for like two and a half to three minutes
39:19 harambe in a weird demo in a side room
39:23 that we weren't allowed to record now
39:27 it's not not fair they have other much
39:30 cooler demos and you're able to spend much more time with it I talked to
39:33 multiple people including Austin Evans and seus who have tried it in the past
39:37 and done very cool demos seus said that playing Minecraft on it was probably the
39:41 best way to play Minecraft which is a pretty big endorsement uh he also tried
39:46 this really cool Halo demo where he was walking around and then he looked out
39:50 some Windows and ended up being like a hangar Bay cool demos cool stuff they had
39:55 monitors set up and it like put screen on the monitor uh they had like big
40:00 basically projector TV kind of deals on the walls really cool
40:06 setups I did not have a good experience it was legitimately pretty
40:11 terrible um there's one ring that wraps
40:14 around your head that supports the weight of the entire thing it does not
40:18 wrap above the top oh it only goes around and you have to like crank it
40:22 down so that it actually holds on right and then the lens itself is able to
40:26 Pivot on top top of that ring so there's like it punches into that ring and then
40:30 pivots on top you have to like clamp it onto your head not very comfortable um
40:35 the nose Bridge thing pretty much the best way to wear it as said by a
40:39 Microsoft employee is to make sure the nose Bridge thing doesn't touch your
40:42 nose so all of the weight is supported
40:46 by it strapping to your skull okay not
40:50 super great the headphone the lack of headphones and having speakers on it is
40:54 actually pretty cool they're directional speakers shoots sound IR ly into your
40:57 ears it's not super loud to everyone else in the room cool you can hear it
41:01 but it's not super loud it's comfortable because you don't have stuff in your ears then you can hear the people that
41:05 you can see which actually kind of helps with it a little bit right when the
41:10 actual screen area where it's playing something is on top of someone you can
41:15 just barely see them oh okay which is actually pretty cool oh okay because
41:20 it's properly obscuring things that are behind the screen uh I didn't get to do
41:24 the demo where they like show an untextured City just made out of W and
41:27 then it like textures it and has like things happening in the city and stuff
41:31 didn't get to do that didn't get to do like any of the cool demos but the main
41:35 thing that I got to do was see the hardcore limitations of the headset okay
41:41 well that's good that was uh that was time well spent them touring you and
41:47 showing you that I also saw a bunch of other stuff which is going to be super
41:50 cool I'm going to make videos about that but Hollow lens in its current form in
41:53 my opinion leaves me wanting
41:58 so the question from twitch chat is do
42:02 you have sand in your vagina yes
42:08 okay well that settles it then yeah speaking of sand in our vaginas sponsors
42:14 peripheral Vis if we were talking about that probably probably Squarespace you
42:19 could make a website about sand you could make a website about sand yes you
42:23 could you could make a website about how you like the hollow lens you could make
42:26 a website about why you don't like the hollow lens you could make a website
42:30 people like you could make a website that they hate but no matter what kind
42:34 of website you made it would look great because it would be using one of
42:38 squarespace's awesome templates that feature responsive design so they scale
42:42 to any platform that all feature Commerce so you could sell things people
42:47 like or you could sell things they hate through your website they've got their
42:51 cover pages feature their logo designer and now everyone can publish content
42:57 whether it's content people like or content people hate like the W Show on
43:01 in the Apple news format from their Squarespace blog module Squarespace
43:07 makes whatever the content You're Building available to anyone and makes
43:13 it you so you don't look like some like
43:17 you know Junior wood Chucks organization
43:23 that doesn't have like a dedicated it
43:26 guy as as long as you've got some cool pictures that show who you are and what
43:30 you're about you can build a Squarespace site it's easy and you can start a trial
43:34 with no credit card required in case you don't believe me CU I can see why you
43:38 wouldn't I don't sound very credible right now should you be interested you
43:42 should no
43:50 oh you were doing so good you're on such
43:53 a roll and I screwed it all up I tried to add a little bit I just broke it
43:57 squarespace.com slw and make sure you use offer code
44:00 when to get 10% off your first purchase I do want to jump back to the
44:05 previous topic real quick before we do the next advertisement thing uh really
44:10 we never do that all right I didn't have enough time properly cover the hollow
44:14 lens and eventually hopefully I will have enough time to properly cover the
44:18 hollow lens and then I will make a video about it really you interrupted my
44:22 sponsor reads for that yep you just
44:26 don't GF do you nope
44:30 okay Dollar Club if you're not a member
44:34 of Dollar Shave Club yet join today and you'll get your first month of razors
44:39 for free not this kind of razors we're
44:42 talking about face razors I mean you

44:49 chest razors they could be back risers they could be buttock razors they could
44:53 be leg razors they could even be feet razors if you are a hobbit or you just
44:59 have hairy feet I have hairy feet I'm not ashamed of it but I don't shave my
45:03 feet because I'm not ashamed of it but you could shave your feet if you wanted
45:07 to do you shave your feet are you putting up your oh okay I put in my hand cuz I I agreed with you oh because you
45:11 agreed that you can shave your feet it's kind of gross but I just don't do it right yeah foot hair is just sort of
45:15 nasty just don't look like but that's why I wear socks yeah socks and sandals
45:21 why hobbit feet anyway once you try Dollar Shave
45:26 club. you will become a proud member like
45:29 millions of others they have millions of members that's pretty cool that's
45:33 incredible it is they deliver amazing razors directly to your door and it
45:37 costs less than getting off your butt and going out to buy it yourself
45:40 membership means you can afford to shave with a fresh blade anytime you want and
45:45 uh wow all of these talking points are pretty much the same thing you can
45:49 afford to shave first class shave you

45:57 smoothest smoothest shave ever and they also have other products

46:05 Charlie's peppermint scented butt wipes for men so your butt could be clean of
46:09 hair and clean of poo yeah all with products made by Dollar Shave Club yeah
46:14 you could even put After Shave on it if you're into that sort of thing then it would smell really good then it would
46:18 smell really good well that like would the peppermint hope stack like Aura
46:21 stacked with the After
46:24 Shave how close do you have to get for the effects to to take
46:29 hold I don't know benchmark it I'm sure
46:32 people are upset about all of this all this butt talk but you know what I say
46:36 loosen up anyway head over to dollarshaveclub.com Linus and give them
46:40 a try for free and I'm
46:44 fired okay first topic after the sponsor
46:49 break is going to be um this is actually
46:53 in our rejected topics but I really really want to do it anyway because it's
46:57 funny the Microsoft Band 2 no longer being sold no Band 3 coming in 2016 it
47:03 was rejected in our doc reason given uh
47:08 no one cares yep that sounds about right there
47:13 actually was one person who cared good bites on the Forum Good Bites we love
47:18 you you care about everything Microsoft and we love you for that okay like I
47:22 said I was at Microsoft and there are legitimately a number of things that
47:26 they're doing that are cool and I think a lot of that has been inspired by the
47:31 uh new mentality that came along with their CEO and there are also things like
47:35 the band just move on okay and that's what
47:40 they're doing and that's what we're going to do so the original article here is from pc.com are you dropping this in
47:45 the twitch chat I can once I find it that's okay I got it I got it I got this
47:49 i got this boom let's go how do you like
47:53 that kbl Lake support is official ASUS releases ufi bu updates for their LGA
47:58 1151 boards which means we should probably get a request in for KB Lake
48:03 processors because I'm sure the engineering samples couldn't be that far
48:06 away if ASUS has already had them for long enough to build and validate bio
48:12 support for them yes uh so they have a table listing all models and ufi
48:17 versions let's go ahead and pull that up you guys can check that out Edge up.
48:21 ASUS.com I can't even find this where is this
48:27 article there we go so the basically all
48:31 the z170s and in fact there are 87 boards
48:36 that will have support H 110 B150 h170
48:39 q170 z170 and c232 will all support kbl CPUs wonderful
48:46 so if you were just thinking to yourself G I should buy processor I love I love
48:52 the processor I just bought except that I wish it performed a little better and
48:57 Ed a little less power things that you probably wouldn't notice if you had one
49:01 that was compatible with that board it depends it depends some people I I I
49:06 thought this was like a not a thing some people actually buy like halfway through
49:12 a generation and they'll buy like a base level core I3 with the intention of like
49:17 it's faster than their older system but they don't have all the money for like a
49:21 ball in core i7 yet so they actually buy themselves like 9 months to flip that
49:25 chip down the line because low-end chips don't lose value proba nearly the same
49:29 way that even if it loses so let's say $100 CPU loses 30% of its value you lost
49:34 30 bucks compared to a $300 CPU uses
49:37 loses 30% of its value now you lost 90 bucks um and then what they'll do is
49:41 they'll bias upgrade and they'll upgrade their CPU I that is a thing that actually makes sense so I was kind of
49:45 being factious there there are valid upgrade paths but then that would be a
49:49 entirely new like you were planning on buying an entirely new processor anyways
49:54 already yes so that still fits in the other category
49:59 yes okay so we've got benchmarks for the
50:04 7700k just how much a little bit faster will it be approximately this it's a
50:09 benchmark from September 29th and uh it
50:12 claims to be run on a z170 XP SLI it
50:16 claims to be a z77 uh z77 K z7 i77700k
50:24 i77700k Intel keep going man get it together here keep going man at 4.2 GHz
50:29 with four cores and eight threads and uh someone's going to like remix that into
50:33 a WP or something i77700 K I77 z77 i7
50:38 z77 i7700 770k okay so there's your
50:42 performances you can go look at them on browser. primat Labs.com
50:49 enjoy all right that should be an proper script of okay so there's your
50:54 performances
50:58 well if we did one minute uh one minute reviews yeah yeah
51:02 then it's like okay it fits in this motherboard okay it costs this much okay
51:07 there's the performance see you next time yeah oh man Capcom Street Fighter 5
51:14 installs a hidden rootkit on your
51:20 PC we are in the process of rolling back the security measures added to the PC
51:24 version of Street Fighter 5 after the roll back process to the PC version all
51:29 new content from the September update will still be available to players we
51:33 apologize for the inconvenience and we'll have an update on the time frame
51:37 for the PC rollback solution soon okay on the subject of crap ports
51:45 uh where is this Mafia this was originally posted by Steve Grabowski on
51:49 the Forum Grabowski the grabba oh my the
51:53 Bowski oh jeez I don't know if you want to be known as the grabba the
51:58 grabba depends what you're grabbing I don't know yeah you could be you could
52:02 be grabbing orphans out of burning buildings in a totally non-sexually
52:08 inappropriate way could be interpreted no you're not you're not taking
52:12 advantage of their situation you're just removing them from the
52:16 fire okay and they don't owe you anything that shouldn't
52:23 matter Mafia 3 okay runs set 30 FPS on
52:28 the PC but an after launch patch is in
52:32 the works oh my God okay now this is one of those things
52:37 where I can look at it and I can go okay so you're at least aware of the issue
52:41 which is better than like ignoring it I guess
52:46 yeah better than not even understanding
52:49 that 30 frames per second is dumb oh
52:52 okay to put in some context I recently made that video with the c922 you say
52:57 Conex maybe um so I I I plugged it in
53:02 last night before streaming and it was running at 30 FPS just talking to my BF
53:07 in jail it's it's getting
53:10 steamy don't look uh oh jeez I couldn't
53:14 figure out uh why it looked so bad I was
53:18 like I just made a video about this it
53:21 better not look this bad what's happening and then I figured out that it
53:25 was running at 30 FPS and my brain was expecting 60 FPS so I went in like
53:30 manually changed the number to 60 so it actually worked and it looked infinitely
53:34 better and I don't think I've actually felt that much of a change before except
53:38 for when I was all excited for my new 60fps thing and then I was like why do
53:42 this I didn't even immediately figure out that it was a frame rate issue I was just like it looks like poo and I don't
53:47 know why and then it fixed so they have a patch running at the studio that
53:51 includes 30 60 and unlimited frames per
53:54 second options in the video menu which again is ridiculous because they could
53:58 just have vsync and not vsync like every
54:03 other game in the last like what 20
54:09 years it's been a while like and I don't mean every other game I mean every other
54:13 proper game in the last 20 years wrecked
54:17 um it sucks too cuz I was kind of excited to play and now I'm probably
54:20 just going to wait until they update but be but like it's just frustrating
54:24 because it's not completely about this one thing that's missing that's garbage
54:28 it's about that being a strong
54:32 indication of a very shoddy last minute
54:35 PC port and if you remember my dx12 and Vulcan video that you probably should
54:39 have watched and if you didn't you should go back and watch it anyways cuz it's awesome there's a bit in there
54:44 about how directx12 and fulcon is going to be very developer heavy in terms of
54:49 things being good right um
54:53 so yeah this worries me a lot I brought
54:56 up like developers being kind of poo and I remember a lot of comments be like
55:01 they get too much hate they're going to do fine it's going to be awesome there
55:05 was a few of those comments no you're wrong stuff like this is going to
55:10 continue to happen and it's going to bleed into more things because there
55:14 will be more availability for ignorance and failure with DirectX 12 and
55:18 Vulcan so I have an impromptu news
55:22 topic um YouTube appar
55:26 apparently has like fine singles in your area ads now I
55:34 don't know there was a much racer one before I reloaded the
55:41 page nope now it's an ad for keep going
55:44 that yeah let's just keep going because that's an ad for what's also an add in the
55:48 video no no and that's also in French
55:51 yeah that's not bizarre I'm not even using a VPN
55:56 the mini I don't think I don't think Google knows what I care about no
56:02 probably not to be perfectly honest probably because you look at so many
56:05 different things it's not doing it come
56:08 on show the internet the racy ad Google
56:11 yeah it knows it's being watched now it's like oh dang see wow right that's
56:18 brutal what is this can you read the name too yeah look at this holy what the
56:24 hell like what is this ad for I mean I'm
56:28 interested but I mean who wouldn't be
56:31 that's that's like I've never seen an ad like that's that's like shoty website
56:35 level stuff yeah that's like some some sketchy stuff right there yeah crazy hey
56:41 sorry I was only bringing this up cuz I was going to bring up your your dx12 and
56:44 Vulcan video and I got distracted yeah no it's fine um I I had people complaining to me
56:50 on Twitter about that video cuz they're like I don't care it's too
56:55 technical then I had to like sit down for a second and be like
56:59 oh
57:04 okay I spent as much time as I could and
57:07 Ed spent a lot of time making like cool graphics and breaking it down did your
57:10 soul die a little it did okay that was painful all right Oculus Rift has a new
57:15 minimum spec this is posted on the Forum by Mr troll basically what they're
57:21 saying is now you can have a 499
57:24 entrylevel PC that can run VR PC VR is
57:29 more affordable than ever this is just nonsense all this means is that they're
57:33 not selling enough headsets right now and their original specs were stupid
57:38 because most of the games in fact every
57:42 game I've tried does not push your
57:46 graphics card that hard because like like like uh um hollow
57:52 point there's a reason that dudes yeah I
57:57 know every VR game uh there's a reason that the dudes walking towards you are
58:01 like static objects that like aren't
58:05 made of a lot of polygons and are barely animated unless they're like really
58:08 close to you and the room is just like like flat walls and like a pretty small
58:12 room like they're trying to avoid
58:17 stratification like they pretty much want anyone with a gaming rig and a VR
58:23 headset to be able to play the game so basically they're just coming down and
58:26 they're saying like Okay we better get realistic about this because we're
58:31 scaring people off with our 600 $700
58:34 piece of Hardware peripheral for I mean
58:37 more if you had the touch controllers y 200 bucks and telling them that they
58:41 also need a thousand computer so I guess we better we better just you know make
58:46 Intel mad and not say that everyone needs an i5 or an i7 for gaming because
58:52 an i36100 like let's look up what is an i36100 I'll do that another thing that
58:56 sucks about videos going on vessel and being delayed before going on vessel is
59:02 my what is wrong with VR thing uh was
59:05 written before that keynote so there you
59:10 go so the i7 6100 or i36100 runs at 3.7 GHz with two
59:16 cores and four threads I can tell you
59:19 right now that every VR game will run
59:22 just fine on that because they do not
59:26 have a ton of AI or some of the other things that are very very demanding on
59:31 the CPU not every VR application no but
59:35 the every game I've played then every game that I have played yeah not every
59:39 VR application I know of one right now
59:42 that is like a huge problem to run on like
59:47 extreme Edition and multiple Titan
59:51 XPS so basically they're saying now anything from an NVIDIA 960 or greater
59:55 is is considered VR ready and this is a reduction from the previous GTX
60:00 970 or AMD 290 or greater or equivalent
60:04 I would be interested if someone has a rig that is like and is in the chat
60:08 right now that is exactly on that spec line um like an i36100 and whatever if
60:15 you have access to a rift whether you
60:18 own it or you know someone who owns it try it out on your rig let me know
60:24 because there's some funky stuff that happens in the background with VR where
60:27 quality things are Dynamic so you could have Dynamic quality um and your your
60:33 result for the dynamic quality could
60:37 be not great and I'm a little bit worried that it might fall below 90 so
60:42 try that report back hit me up on Twitter this was posted by delic
60:47 delicious I guess Windows 10 now
60:53 actually whatever Windows 10 now actually losing market share the
60:57 original article is from betan news.com according to figures from net
61:02 market share Windows 10 went from 22.99% globally to 22.5 three these
61:08 figures measure usage so only pces that
61:12 are actually being used rather than just like PCS with it installed count towards
61:17 it uh the decrease is still surprising as Windows 8 and 8 point whatever only
61:22 saw a decline after multiple months of diminishing growth Windows 7 actually
61:27 grew last month by 1% from 47.25 to 48.2
61:31 S I'm not even that surprised and a lot of it has to do with why my test next
61:35 door just might actually be impossible um so we've talked about the
61:40 browser test that I've been trying to run for a little while um I was
61:45 streaming last night just to not to bring that up again um and CPU started
61:50 throttling like crazy I was playing
61:53 something that I had done in that exact same scenario with the exact same software running on my computer doing
61:58 the exact same things literally the day before and everything was fine so I was
62:02 trying to figure out why that was happening there was certain Windows
62:05 services that are like moderately core
62:08 services like one of them had to do with audio and I have audio enhancements
62:12 disabled so it's not that thing I've already dealt with that Major
62:15 Performance problem one of them was some I don't even remember what the other one
62:20 was the audio thing I killed both of those instead of being CPU pinned and
62:25 like resulting in a I think it was like 16 FPS on the final stream my computer
62:29 was running fine but the stream out to everyone else was at like 16
62:32 FPS uh I went down to 60% CPU
62:36 utilization from being completely peaked just from killing two Windows
62:41 things that did not need to run at that point in time
62:44 interesting Windows is this Windows 10 is this crazy Dynamic performance hog
62:49 that will just every once in a while just absolutely spike your CPU as hard
62:53 as it can right and I just like I can't understand how it doesn't realize that
62:58 your CPU is now at 100% and doesn't pull back because it's an automated
63:02 background process it should not crush your computer
63:07 yeah absolutely garbage so like I I actually know a fair amount of streamers
63:11 that are going back to or are staying on Windows 7 because there's just too many
63:15 Dynamic problems speaking of
63:19 problems dang it well there you go
63:23 blizzard has a problem with something that was allegedly said
63:28 during an interview with their game director Tom Chilton to be fair I do
63:34 believe this is the same person who said uh you think you do but you don't in
63:38 terms of Warcraft classic so this guy's
63:42 a little uh he runs his mouth he's a quotable
63:46 person who runs his mouth sometimes okay so polish magazine pixel claims that Tom
63:51 Chilton of Blizzard told them that the current subscriber count is around 10.1
63:54 million Wow's Peak was at around 12 million players and at the end of 2015
63:59 it was at 5 a half million at which point blizzard stopped publicly
64:02 reporting subscriber numbers they have since issued a statement denying that
64:06 Tom Chilton provided the 10.1 million subscriber number to the magazine this
64:10 was a misquote or some kind of misunderstanding on the part of the
64:13 journalist our policy for almost a year now is that we do not talk about
64:17 subscriber numbers and Tom did not do that with this publication oh
64:22 wow what yeah they're going straight after the journalist they're just
64:26 blaming them holy crap yeah okay unless H that journalist is
64:33 getting a lot of views from this yeah so there's that I would be
64:38 very surprised if it's back up at 10 million my reasoning for this I was
64:42 talking to Nick about this earlier like who do you know who's playing yeah for
64:46 one um actually okay I do know a couple
64:50 people but they were playing before anyways and we're going to play this
64:53 anyways um every time that a new expansion comes out there's a spike
64:57 that's just going to happen it's not very surprising um but the last time wow
65:02 was running at 10 million subscribers it was extremely commonly talked about
65:06 really big deal do you remember those days everyone was talking about wow yep
65:10 wasn't that when like the South Park episode came out about wow yeah that was
65:13 long time ago like 10 million subscribers was a huge deal for world
65:17 the warcraft to be pulling um if they're doing that again awkwardly
65:22 silent don't know what's going on not a
65:25 ton of talk about it all right things that we do want to talk about though
65:29 this is pretty interesting um Spotify
65:33 was caught serving malware infested ads to its users which actually ties in
65:39 pretty well to my uh sketchy YouTube ad topic that I came up with yeah it does
65:43 spontaneously this was posted by hey yo on the Forum and the original article
65:47 here is from 9 to 5 Mac now they claim to have successfully identified and
65:52 eliminated the source of the problem but they should should have at their scale I
65:58 kind of think they should have identified that before it happened they should probably have a
66:03 vetting process with that yes they
66:06 should have a vetting process uh this was originally Rec uh reported to be
66:10 occurring on Windows 10 but the issue persists in other operating systems
66:14 including Ubuntu and macOS uh Spotify
66:18 has said they are currently looking into the issue and they dealt with a similar
66:21 thing back in 2011 uh small number of users have
66:25 experienced problem with a questionable website popups in their default browsers
66:28 as a result of an isolated issue with an ad on our free tier we have now
66:32 identified the source of the problem and encourage all of our users to pay for their freaking music no I'm just kidding
66:37 that's not the quote uh we have now identified the source of the problem and
66:40 have it shut down we will continue to monitor the situation imer or imager or
66:44 whoever you want to say that has imer I
66:47 think so imer I think so I've I've always said imager but that's definitely
66:52 not it I think it's imer yeah probably imer um has had
66:56 kind of sketchy ad problems recently as
66:59 well as along with along with autop playing audio enabled videos which is
67:04 like the reason why people install ad block so if you could stop that'd be
67:09 pretty cool be great video
67:12 cards.com the first pictures of the yet unannounced GTX 108 10 1050 TI have
67:19 appeared online cool it is a confirmed quote
67:24 unquote I mean that is uh okay sure to
67:27 feature the GP 107 GPU so this is what
67:32 would have years ago been
67:36 like not a GTX card you posted it right
67:39 and not a t no I didn't actually thank you not a TI this would have been like a
67:44 like a uh like an 8400 like GS or whatever actually I
67:51 don't know if it's quite that small in terms of die size but the whole thing
67:55 NVIDIA's done where they've taken their second their second chip and they've
68:00 positioned that as their top chip with Titan in like sort of like this weird
68:04 Stratosphere sort of area and then their second chip and position it as their
68:08 third and their third and position it as their second wait fourth and whatever
68:13 the point is that we're getting smaller
68:17 chips positioned as though they are like more expensive Parts when normally we'd
68:21 have gotten more silicone for our silicone silicon for our dollar I'm
68:25 sorry I'm just I'm thinking of that YouTube ad how much how much silicone
68:29 will I get for my dollar here oh god um
68:33 I can't even believe that to be completely honest like yeah that's
68:37 bizarre man anyway the sticker placed on
68:40 the other side of the PCB yeah um
68:43 confirmed that the 1050 TI will feature 4 gigs of gddr5 memory and they figure
68:49 it should take place in about 2 weeks so oh okay well I had not heard anything
68:54 about that so that's good I guess I mean looking at
69:00 how Titan XP happened yeah maybe
69:05 surprise me anymore at this point but I six
69:09 pin six pin power wow that is an empty
69:12 PCB I was just going to say that I when I first looked I thought it was
69:15 unfinished but it I don't think so anymore wow that is a that is one naked
69:22 naked card very bare you know how mad m
69:25 or I almost just said Microsoft uh NVIDIA is going to be they were very
69:30 pissed last time there was uh the picture releases of was it the shroud of
69:35 something oh I don't remember I think it was the the first pictures of the Shroud
69:39 that showed the new angular design uhhuh oh they were mad and like people were
69:42 fired that worked at the factory and all this kind of stuff wow and there's
69:46 pictures of this one out too this is worse I mean PC the chip like oh man
69:53 wrecked son yeah people are getting speaking of people getting fired if your
69:58 job this was posted by m yuraki on the
70:01 Forum if your job was to uh take money
70:06 or even accept free or discounted
70:09 products and review them on Amazon that
70:12 is no longer a job Amazon is Banning reviews based on free or discounted
70:18 products with the exception of books and
70:21 reviews from the Amazon Vine Program which Amazon conveniently made makes
70:25 money on by the way you have to pay Amazon to submit your product for Vine
70:31 in addition to providing the free product so okay let's not pretend this
70:34 is all about the Integrity of reviews on amazon.com although I do believe that it
70:40 is a significant I think I don't think it's going to help at all there's
70:44 there's far too many completely fake reviews that aren't claiming that they
70:48 got the product for free that it's just not going to matter let's see let's see
70:54 sure so here we go Amazon had always I met okay
70:57 I met that dude at CES who who like does that you remember
71:03 we talked about that I don't remember I like met a guy at CPS at CPS at CES who
71:09 will like meet with people and then they'll be like yeah we want Amazon
71:12 reviews and he'll be like I can get you a 50 and he like serves out large
71:17 numbers of Amazon reviews I was like
71:20 wow you're dick and he's like yep like
71:24 one of those guys that doesn't care and makes cash off of it huh yeah cool like
71:30 I don't think it's going to change anything if that guy is still around I
71:33 don't think shit's changing so Amazon has always allowed businesses to offer
71:37 products or discounts on products to customers in exchange for a review on
71:41 their site provided that this affiliation was disclosed in the text a
71:45 recent study of over 7 million reviews by review meta found that incentivized
71:50 reviews those with some kind of disclaimer text were rated 38 Stars
71:54 higher than non-incentivized reviews overall and while that seems like a
71:59 small change that doesn't seem small at all to me that could potentially boost a
72:02 product from the 54th percentile to the 94th percentile and when we talk
72:07 percentile we talk about uh where it would fall in terms of how close to the
72:12 top of the pile it would be if you would sort by review scores um so this could
72:17 in some cases bring a product from average to top rated the study also
72:22 found that incentivized reviewers were 12 times less likely to provide a onear
72:26 rating and nearly four times less likely to leave a critical
72:31 review so there you have it Amazon
72:34 reviews continue to be a pretty good source for for me to get information on
72:39 stuff that I'm buying um or have been sorry and I guess they will continue to
72:43 be so that's
72:46 cool um sharp I guess we're getting kind of getting into like some rapid fire
72:51 stuff right close to the end of the uh
72:54 close to the end of the video here the video the stream sorry I'm tired it's
72:59 kind of been a long week I definitely won't be here next week by the way I
73:02 keep saying that but I definitely won't be here next week um if my wife goes any
73:07 further past the due date than probably Monday then it's uh it's probably going
73:12 to be medicinal like IV inducing the
73:16 body to eject the small creature inside
73:20 um so sharp showed off an EXO 27 in 8k
73:24 120 HZ
73:28 display yeah so uh that would be pretty
73:32 much the be all and end all of what I would be interested in owning in fact I
73:36 don't even know if I need 8K at that point 4K 120 HZ we're getting pretty
73:41 close maybe like 4K 240 HZ anyway okay
73:44 well I Can Dream um check this out so I've asked this in the past in fact I
73:49 have a video that's on vessel coming to YouTube soon where I talk about this
73:52 directly but you know how display manufacturers are fighting so hard to be
73:58 like the thinnest when we don't look at them from that angle and i' I've ask
74:03 myself what if they understood that I
74:07 don't care what kind of a display could
74:10 they build if it was thick apparently
74:13 this because look at this thing it's ridiculous it's like 5 Ines thick four
74:20 at least but it's badass and I would
74:24 much rather own that than some like
74:27 crazy like sexy super slim thing that is
74:30 not as cool that's 326 pixels per inch so you could get as close as you would
74:34 to your phone and you would not be able to see a pixel um at that kind of uh I
74:39 think it was running off something like let's see blah blah blah blah blah from
74:44 the article could have been running off as many as 16 HDMI cables because of the
74:49 bandwidth required to run 8K at that
74:52 refresh rate love it there is no known
74:56 release date or price as this is purely a prototype and if that kind of a thing
75:01 were available I I don't even know what you would do with it
75:06 like it would just be bragging rights and I would brag about it because I
75:11 would think that is very cool posted by Chief yum yum on the
75:16 Forum Nike's self-lacing sneakers
75:20 finally go on sale November 28th so cool
75:25 inspired by Back to the
75:28 Future yes my friends Michael J fox has
75:31 lived to see crap that was pure science fiction
75:37 turn into reality I mean that's happened many times I mean yes that's actually
75:43 how like a lot of Technologies get
75:46 realized anyways these are super cool I hope I hope I hope they keep the light
75:52 cuz I like that cuz I'm still 15
75:56 you have to charge them so that's a thing that's a little weird so here's a
75:59 video for wireless charging I don't know
76:02 this is a really long video I is a very long don't want to sit through this
76:05 whole video please just show me the self-lacing this holy crap this is a
76:09 long video oh wow is it like the punch
76:12 line at the
76:16 end wait I didn't even see it
76:20 happen oh oh okay that's kind of C did it go
76:25 really slowly or I don't know I'm not that impressed okay all right speaking
76:30 of things that uh might be impressive but might not be coaxial gamer posted
76:35 this on the Forum the original article from kit guru.net AMD reportedly
76:40 launching Zen and x370 motherboards at
76:43 CES I hope it's impressive so they're going to be ramping up clearance of
76:48 their current batch of CPUs like the fx8350 and FX 6350 and an effort to make
76:53 room for Zen's arrival in general January this is according to sources
76:57 speaking with Digi times who also claim that the last generation of CPUs will
77:00 see Heavy price Cuts in the last few months of 2016 I wonder when AMD will
77:05 like figure out what all the other like super big Tech guys are doing and not
77:10 launch things at CES
77:16 anymore but yeah I wasn't really listening I was reading something on my
77:20 screen so on that note thank you for your contribution to our last topic
77:24 there whatever it waset and uh thank you
77:28 to you for watching and we will see you again I'll see you later are you doing
77:32 the aspm thing is that what it's called ASMR ASMR yeah I don't know IB I don't
77:38 really know how it works to be completely honest no it's it's is it
77:42 just Whispering into a mic sort of I thought you needed a b neural mic no I
77:45 don't no no you don't no you don't need that what it's just supposed to like
77:49 it's supposed to trigger like tingling or something for certain people oh but I
77:53 thought the whole point was having like a bu neural recording setup um yeah a
77:57 Beno Beno sure yeah um I've only ever
78:00 read it I don't know I mean okay buy
78:03 neural could sort of make sense no it's
78:06 two neurons that go to your
78:09 ear I'm trying to help thank you um but
