0:00 so we left off part one of this series with a particularly cruel Cliffhanger
0:05 Dennis hanging from the literal Cliff that he created in my house by stepping
0:10 through my ceiling way to go
0:13 Dennis oh my God Dennis just fell down from now on I'm going to call this the
0:17 Dennis hole hi Dennis
0:22 hello seriously man I could have
0:25 died but we're done now and I'm finally
0:29 ready to unveil what I'm calling the world's most comfortable gaming setup
0:34 let's head
0:44 inside now we weren't quite done last time when our shooting session got cut a
0:48 little short so I'll catch you guys up on what all was done in the meantime
0:52 first the contractors finished their handiwork adding insulation drywall
0:57 electrical and new flooring
1:00 the contrast between the original room and the upgraded one is
1:03 Stark but enough about that let's talk about the real upgrades I used a 2-in
1:08 PVC pipe to Route cables to the back of the Samsung ks9500 4K SD TV that they
1:15 graciously provided when they sponsored this project only with a Twist thanks to
1:20 the one connect input box I can handle all four of the HDMI 2.0 inputs Each of
1:26 which is capable of driving the full 3840 x 21 60 Resolution of this
1:31 television at up to 60 HZ through a single cable to the TV mounting gear to
1:37 the wall was done in a number of ways to demonstrate the versatility of this
1:41 approach for light items double-sided 3M tape is fine but for heavier items like
1:47 the custom gaming rig it's nice to have this wall either plywood backed or with
1:52 plywood over top the way that I've done it so you don't have to worry about
1:55 finding a stud when you want to screw something in in total the wall contain
2:00 and Xbox one which is more to demonstrate how additional devices could
2:03 be added I know it won't red discs this way a network switch a USB charging Hub
2:09 and all of my controllers on a cool little shelf I found at
2:13 Ikea let's take a moment to check out that custom wall-mounted PC it's rocking
2:18 an Intel Core i7 6700k 16 gigs of dual
2:22 channel ddr4 from Corsair and a GTX 1070
2:25 Founders Edition all in a lean Lee PC 06s aluminum and temper glass case now I
2:31 know that I only Built This thing a short while ago but it's also just been
2:35 upgraded with individually sleeved green cables from cable mod and RGB lighting
2:40 with a remote control so it can actually be turned all the way off when complete
2:44 Blackness is desired time for the biggest challenge of this project
2:49 mounting the TV step one was to figure
2:52 out where the devil to put it something that's very difficult to eyeball by the
2:56 way then step two was to secure it I
3:00 actually ordered two other mounts before
3:03 reaching out to Kanto for help and they sent over their f680 which solved all my
3:09 problems this sucker mounts with six beefy screws into the wood roof supports
3:14 and can handle up to 200 lb of entertainment goodness yeah good which
3:21 is good because this TV is one heavy
3:24 mother I plugged it into the power outlet behind it there's an extra plug
3:28 there for a soundar upgrade in the future if needed and with a lot of help
3:33 got it in position locked it in place tucked the cables behind it and wait a
3:39 minute I need a chair but not just any
3:43 chair a chair that allows the user to recline at the perfect angle to view the
3:47 ceiling mounted TV straight on okay I think I got it little
3:51 man okay
3:55 oh there we go this yellow thing I ordered off
4:00 Amazon was horrible and cost $400 so I reached out to L saac and they
4:05 hooked us up with the pillow sack and a super comfy cover for it this thing
4:10 rocks so at this point I could have easily stopped the project and said okay
4:15 mission accomplished wow there's a lot of
4:18 magnets but I wanted to make the room a comfy play area for my kids as well so I
4:23 added a fun magnet wall a couple tipped over bookshelves and another small bean
4:27 bag chair to sit and read and finally a couple of end tables for the pillow sack
4:32 but did it work actually yeah a lot of
4:37 things came together to make this one of the most unbelievable movie watching and
4:41 gaming experiences that I have ever encountered first is all the technology
4:45 in the TV at this viewing distance 4K
4:48 absolutely makes a difference but there's more to it than that it features
4:52 Quantum do technology which we've covered in more detail before to achieve
4:57 better Energy Efficiency keeping the room cool
5:00 and both the better color performance and increased Peak brightness of a th000
5:05 nits that allow this set to meet the requirements for the UHD premium HDR
5:09 standard in a nutshell HDR means more
5:12 details in the high and low lights of the scene for a viewing experience that
5:16 is much closer to what you would get in the version of the movie that was
5:20 mastered for the theater and while HDR does require a supported player and HDR
5:25 mastered content the onboard Netflix app in Samsung's tyen OS handles it and some
5:30 content is starting to show up already with much more coming in the summer
5:34 other ties and highlights include voice search which you can see in action here
5:38 PS Now with a dual shot controller and for me anyway the free Plex app that
5:43 lets me stream off of my home Plex server woo now I want to take a moment
5:47 to talk then about the curve normally I'm not convinced that it makes that
5:51 much of a difference to the viewers immersion in the content especially on a
5:54 TV but here with the screen just a few
5:57 feet away far enough to Focus comfortably but close enough to occupy
6:02 about as much of my field of view as a theater screen it works really well and
6:07 I even got Brandon our resident Cinema purist to sign off on it saying quote
6:13 it's surprisingly cool and he even pointed out that it is an awesome
6:18 solution to a problem that many of us have faced wanting to lie on our backs
6:22 watching a video with our phone above us only to have our arms get tired or the
6:26 phone accidentally fall please for the
6:29 love of every thing if you game on a TV make sure you're in game mode but once
6:33 you get that sorted out what can I say it is awesome the gaming experience is
6:38 every bit as comfy and immersive as you'd imagine I definitely prefer the
6:42 16x9 aspect ratio with a large screen to
6:45 a three display surround setup with bezels in the middle and all the same
6:49 things that make movies awesome on this thing popping colors strong contrast and
6:54 the curve make it fantastic for gaming I've already had lover for some
6:58 two-player fun and I doubt it'll be his last visit overall I'm really pleased
7:03 with what we've accomplished here I wasn't sure how well the concept would
7:07 work in practice but thanks to the super comfy seat confidence inspiring Mount
7:12 and this great TV it turned out amazing
7:15 so thanks for watching guys if you disliked this video well you know where that button is but if you liked it hit
