all right well I've been promising this video for a while this is the vision
0:03
Tech candy board that I had a look at a little while back you know the one with
0:08
the onoff switch here and the built-in
0:11
cat toy I mean laser pointer in the end of it so compelling reason to get a
0:17
candy board well it replaces a huge
0:20
keyboard and mouse at a media PC so it's
0:23
about the size actually even a little bit smaller than a media center keyboard
0:28
and it's got all of the keyboard and mouse functionality that you can need so
0:34
as you can see my ghetto Media Center is set up over here so we're going to do a
0:38
quick setup guide which should be fairly straightforward basically you pull the
0:43
little USB receiver out of the candy board like so then you walk over to the
0:51
computer and plug it
0:54
in the driver installs
1:00
and uh when I did this at work it actually didn't take very long at all
1:05
and you tell the cat to go away apparently he wants to visit me
1:09
right now hi
1:16
Rumble okay it's enough visiting with the cat so my device is ready to use
1:22
which you can see there and I'm going to go ahead and demonstrate how to use it
1:27
so I'm going to put my camera here hopefully that'll work work and then I
1:31
guess I could even zoom in a little bit look at that that's high tech
1:36
zooming okay so with the candy board I can move the
1:42
mouse hopefully oh hold
1:46
on oh not quite hold on wait for
1:50
it okay USB input device yeah okay hopefully the battery
1:57
is not dead or anything like that see what happens if I press the Windows
2:01
button I might have to come back in just a moment here oh hold on what was that I
2:05
saw another light yeah there we go okay so the green light went on on the candy board and now I can actually move the
2:10
mouse around with the touchpad so I'm going to go ahead and go down to the uh
2:16
Windows button and then I can click on it by pushing on the touchpad and then
2:20
maybe I'd want to open up uh oh I don't
2:23
know solitire and then I could place solitire
2:26
from my couch with the candy board
2:30
if I so desired okay so that's enough of just looking at the screen but I just
2:35
want to show you sort of the ergonomics of the candy board
2:39
itself now one thing that was a bit of a challenge for me was uh the fact that
2:44
the left side is quite accessible like I can easily type with the entire left
2:49
side of the keyboard using my left thumb but I found it a bit of a challenge to
2:54
type on the right side of the keyboard using my right thumb because I can't
2:57
quite reach over the touchpad so if you have have large hands that would
3:00
probably be a little bit easier for you alternately you could hold it like this
3:04
or even just put it down on the table in front of you and then you can just uh
3:09
hunt and pack type like that and that might be the easiest thing now one of
3:13
the other cool features of this candy
3:16
board is uh oh where did it go I
3:19
remember I found the
3:23
uh I wonder what that button does I don't know it's like the explosion
3:27
button look at it um I found it when I
3:30
did the unboxing but now I appear to have lost it but there's a button to
3:35
rotate the uh touch pad
3:40
90° and um hold on I'm going to pause
3:43
while I find that aha here it is so function and then this blue button here
3:49
will make the touch pad not rotate hold on maybe I have to
3:54
hold function yeah there we go so now you can
3:59
use it more like in the shape of a remote so I'm going to go ahead and uh
4:03
zoom in on the screen again yeah I know so now I can move the
4:09
mouse up and down like this and it makes
4:12
it a little bit more ergonomic to uh to hold it that
4:15
way and there's a cat who apparently
4:19
really wants attention he loves the candy board too as you can see Rumble is
4:24
a big fan of the candy board now he's uh a big fan of my lap and he's sitting
4:29
there so there you go cats love the candy
4:33
board they will nuzzle it and bite it oh don't bite the candy
4:39
board okay so that was pretty much all I wanted to say about it basically what it
4:42
is is it's a convenient way to access all of your essential media functions
4:47
with something that's a lot smaller than a standard keyboard I mean this is even
4:50
already quite a small keyboard and it works quite well I mean the range is
4:54
enough that I can sit on my couch over here and I can comfortably control
4:59
everything on this screen and you've got pretty much every key that you could
5:02
need uh there's your left and right click there's your arrow buttons as well
5:07
as you've even got like things like page up and page down which is great for
5:10
reading web pages so if you wanted to just it's not something that I'd really
5:14
recommend for extensive use of your computer but if you just want to like
5:17
open up a web browser type in a web address and then
5:23
you know just read a couple articles on your on your media PC I mean something
5:26
like this is great so thank you for checking out my howto video on the
5:30
vision Tech candy board and also don't forget it is a phenomenal cat toy and
5:35
cats love it hey Rumble what's
5:39
this hey Cat what are you playing with
5:42
down there go go get the go get the laser
6:28
okay that's enough of laser planter
