from the outside ergotek's triple monitor desk stand with telescoping
0:04
wings comes in about the most unassuming brown packaging that i've ever seen once
0:08
you get inside everything is well protected in bubble wrap but frankly
0:13
since it's made of almost entirely solid metal even if it wasn't protected in
0:17
bubble wrap would probably arrive functional anyway
0:27
with its factory tuning and data center dna an Intel 730 series SSD is an
0:32
amazing choice for gamers and performance enthusiasts
0:35
taking everything out of the box it looks a little bit intimidating but the
0:39
install process was actually finished in less than 15 minutes simply screw the
0:44
shaft into the base then tighten the screw at the back with the included
0:47
allen key slide the triple monitor ARM over the top of the shaft then tighten
0:52
the little vise style handle until it doesn't move anymore make sure you put
0:56
this at the height that you want it now you will need to remove at least some of
1:00
your monitors if you want to adjust it later now it's time for the monitors any
1:05
monitors can work as long as they fit on the stand and have four vasa compatible
1:09
mounting holes at the back the non-telescoping version can handle up to
1:13
three 24-inch monitors while the telescoping version that i have can
1:17
handle up to three 25-pound 27-inch
1:20
monitors i'll be using two pb278qs on the sides and a pa279
1:26
in the middle so just take them off their stock stands and these ones come
1:29
off with four screws then put the included screws somewhere safe lay the
1:34
monitors flat on a safe surface and mount the included quick release pivots
1:38
to the back of them you may notice that two of the quick release pivots in the
1:42
box are different from the third use these ones for the outside monitors
1:46
because they have a knob that allows the height of the connected display to be
1:50
adjusted slightly to compensate in case the rear ARM or your desk or whatever
1:55
else isn't quite level once that's done fold the stand's arms out straight and
1:59
simply hook the pivots onto the back ARM they lock into place and can only be
2:04
removed if you lift up the little pin on the top these pivots are actually where
2:08
all the magic happens here they can be tilted up and down swiveled left and
2:13
right and even pivoted to portrait mode
2:16
going either way it gives you a lot of options for adjustment i didn't need to
2:21
change it but if you want you can also use the included larger allen key to
2:25
adjust the tension on them to make it easier or harder to move your monitors
2:30
around once all the monitors are in place bend the back ARM to the correct
2:35
angle so whatever will be most suitable for your desired sitting position make
2:39
any last-minute adjustments then run all the cables across the ARM and down the
2:44
back with the cable management clip for an extremely clean looking desk now
2:49
having set up a triple monitor gaming rig only once before with three 24
2:53
inchers and an xfx ifinity stand i'd say
2:56
the biggest difference this time around was ease of use everything went together
3:01
so quickly and so easily that compared to before i'd be much more likely to
3:06
recommend this another thing that i liked was the large
3:10
flat metal base its size gives the whole apparatus enough stability that even
3:15
with just two monitors attached say while you're putting it together it
3:18
won't fall over and even though it actually takes up almost as much desk
3:22
space as three normal monitor stands because it's so low profile you can
3:26
easily put stuff on it so you end up with a lot more usable room on your desk
3:30
with that said it's not perfect so my
3:33
biggest complaint i guess is that well they say it can handle 27-inch monitors
3:38
it barely does it if i strip the bezels off
3:43
something i wouldn't mind doing as a crazy project sometime it would be fine
3:47
but with the bezels on the telescoping arms needed to be fully extended and i
3:53
had to have the pivots hanging off the end a little bit to get the angle that i
3:56
wanted and i guess that's about it i mean the price is solid considering what
4:01
competing products go for and how well built this is and the fact that it's
4:05
upgradable is a big bonus that last bit was
4:09
actually a pro tip from the guy who runs widescreen gaming for him if you don't
4:13
buy a telescoping triple stand in the first place you can add telescoping arms
4:18
for larger monitor support you can add an additional monitor up top for a three
4:22
plus one config or even go full on crazy
4:25
and grab like a six panel setup the sky's the limit
4:28
this modularity is actually what allowed the widescreen gaming forum folks to
4:32
have their own edition of the product that uses solid aluminum throughout
4:36
making it a bit more premium feeling they reached out to me about reviewing
4:39
that one but the timing was funny i told them that i already had this one in the
4:43
review queue so this is the one you guys are getting a video of but if you're
4:47
considering buying something like this you might want to check out the widescreen gaming forum one as well it's
4:51
a great forum over there if you're looking for tips and tricks on how to make your games work in weird aspect
4:56
ratios particularly wide ones it's definitely a good place to go anyway
5:01
that's pretty much it um i guess if i had to come up with another complaint
5:04
about this setup it would be a self-imposed one and that's that at
5:08
about megapixels this setup is almost 30 more difficult
5:14
for your pc to drive than even a 4k monitor so you're going to need to
5:18
gather up as much GPU horsepower and video RAM as you can if you want to
5:23
stand a chance of playing computer games at this res but
5:28
if you're one of those people who's into the whole surround gaming experience and
5:32
you know who you are then you probably know what a blissful gaming experience
5:37
it is at this kind of a res and at this kind of a size once you get it up and
5:42
running unlike anything else it's only the beginning of how i would describe it
5:47
oh and i guess the stand comes with a lifetime warranty too so that's uh yet
5:52
another thing that i didn't say before guys thanks for watching this video like
5:56
