0:02 and we are live we're live on the WAN Show with our
0:07 special guest Jay's t i take I take special very serious
0:13 very special guest the specialest guest the greatest uh you know what's actually
0:19 kind of funny is it didn't occur to me until we were already live but it is
0:24 possible that we still have the lower
0:28 third from no we do not somebody cleared
0:32 out that folder that would have been super cool if we still had like an
0:35 ancient lower third from having you on as a guest like two years ago three
0:39 years ago it was probably more like three yeah wow probably more like three
0:43 so um let's uh let's do a quick rundown of some of the topics that we want to
0:47 discuss today actually I've got one that I'm not sure if is in the dock but Jay
0:51 you and I both released videos discussing the X 299 platform and sort
0:56 of gave some thoughts on it um you know I'd love to kind of
1:00 head tohe about it and kind of exchange some of those thoughts I'm the audience
1:04 would love for us to flesh things out a little bit so uh I'm all about fleshing
1:08 out if you know what I mean and
1:11 um see how much awkward silence I can get I got a good two heartbeats there
1:16 yeah yeah that was solid um and uh We've also got a lot of Apple news this week
1:21 that I'm sure everyone is going to have an opinion on because some of it looks
1:26 amazing and some of it looks like it should be amazing but actually
1:30 um wait is this seriously not not in
1:34 here in detail okay that's fine we can we can get to that later so um yeah
1:40 without further Ado let's roll the intro and get right into this CU there's a lot
1:44 to cover today
1:47 y I can hear it Oh wait we're on the same thing now
2:06 sponsors for the show Savage
2:10 jerkey fresh books and cable
2:17 mod okay so why don't we jump right into
2:21 the big highlight from the I didn't put
2:24 the guest up there he is uh why don't we jump into the big highlight from Apple's
2:29 event oh and I just realized we don't have Jay
2:33 when I'm sharing my screen so we're just going to have to do the screen shares really quickly so this is from The Verge
2:38 the eight biggest announcements from Apple WWDC
2:42 2017 number one apple announces the
2:46 homepod speaker to take on Amazon Echo
2:50 and Sonos so can I kick this off by
2:55 saying who here actually uses Andor
2:59 desires my grandpa all the time same with my mom okay so tell me exactly what
3:04 it is that people are using I almost have no idea speakers for
3:09 um I think part of the idea is that it's
3:12 it can be louder than your phone automatically without having your volume
3:15 settings already on uh I think it's more responsive to voice from further away
3:20 I'm assuming those things are uh what
3:24 it's for I don't use it Jay what do you
3:28 got uh uh but yeah my grandpa and my mom
3:32 are both very I was so unenthusiastically like not following
3:35 anything to do with apple until I saw the Vega thing which I'm sure you're
3:38 going to talk about but yeah yeah I was going to get to the important stuff
3:42 later yeah I mean I don't know I could see like my dad who's fairly disabled
3:46 liking voice command stuff but I mean I can't bring myself to get an Alexa or a
3:51 Google home so why would I want this like I think part of the idea is if
3:56 he's like watching the TV or like cooking food or something and he just
3:59 doesn't even want to pull his phone out he can just talk to it and it's fine uh
4:04 wait hold on a second apparently Jay is way out of syn he wasn't um he looks in
4:11 sync
4:14 here uh
4:17 ah see I bring the old Tech talk Mantra with me wherever I
4:22 go oh it's slightly behind yeah oh
4:26 people are like yeah he's way out of syn 100 to 200 milliseconds yeah it's yeah
4:33 okay um I mean there's only so much you can do with video over IP right wow okay
4:39 you know what I think we're just not going to care at all so okay so
4:44 basically I I'll say this I I have a Sonos speaker actually I have a few
4:48 Sonos speakers and what I really like about them is that you can turn on one
4:53 room or two rooms or a bunch of rooms um
4:56 I do think Sonos speakers are overpriced so for Apple to come in and say okay
5:00 yeah we're going to have a home speaker that
5:03 um is you know sounds great and is also
5:08 a competitor for Sonos and also happens
5:12 to have Siri for if you're wondering like how tall the average giraffe is or
5:17 whatever sure then I I guess there's I guess there's some utility there but I
5:21 can't figure out who is actually using
5:25 Apple homekit stuff and I can't figure
5:28 out what EX L it is that people other than me have figured out how to do with
5:34 Siri that's actually useful that's one
5:37 of my bigger questions is cuz like I and
5:40 I feel like it was actually better before have you had that experience I
5:46 feel like my voice activated stuff has gotten worse over time almost every time
5:50 I go to you Siri like here let's do a live
5:54 demo hey
5:57 Siri hey Siri
6:01 can you set a reminder for me to pick up my kids at 10 p.m.
6:05 tonight okay I'll remind you okay well
6:09 whatever managed to get it right after not hearing me the first time but like
6:13 so many times it'll it'll get the uh
6:17 it'll have like the time in the reminder and it'll be like oh well when would you
6:22 like to do that like holy crap you literally have 1000 p.m. right there I
6:26 don't know how I could have been much more clear than that um and I've just
6:30 been so frustrated with it lately that I just can't imagine myself buying a
6:35 dedicated Appliance just to be mad and
6:38 after three attempts pull out my phone and just freaking type it in you know
6:42 when I did my Sono stuff last year um CU I I'm like you I have quite a bit of
6:45 Sono stuff and it really had one selling
6:49 point for me and that was the app controlled volume and whatnot cuz when
6:52 you have Toddlers and kids like me who like to crank the TV super loud it was
6:57 just convenient to be upstairs be able to turn the TV down
7:00 having to yell turn the TV down like that one feature alone for me was worth
7:03 it but um I mean in terms of like home assistance and and home speakers and
7:07 stuff like that I don't use any of the other functionality built into the Sonos
7:11 with with the exception of just being able to switch it and maybe stream some
7:15 music to to play a little bit of Devil's Advocate I guess no one's really
7:20 fighting for the other side but um I I I think for like the the more normies out
7:26 there I guess normies is that what we call them now I I guess um I think this
7:30 serves actually a better use case because it fits the like super classic
7:35 easy to understand Dynamic of like the
7:38 the person chopping vegetables in their kitchen who like randomly thinks of
7:42 something and doesn't want to stop like hey can you convert 34 of a cup to the
7:46 metric system yeah and like apparently it actually does that pretty well I know
7:50 your phone didn't just pick you up I could see my wife doing that yeah and
7:53 like I know your phone didn't just pick you up very well but a dedicated Appliance a
7:57 $350 Appliance for that I of course though so again back to okay
8:04 so there's two discussions to have here one is is this thing really that useful
8:08 and the second one is Will normies flock out and buy it so the I don't know about
8:12 flock out and buy it well but hold on I was about to make an argument there
8:16 because when I was over in Taiwan I uh I stayed at Dennis's parents house for the
8:21 first day because our hotel wasn't
8:24 available to check in yet anyway um and they actually had like
8:30 so many dedicated appliances that my
8:33 zero clutter lifestyle would not allow me to take for free let alone go out and
8:39 buy so like zero clutter lifestyle they have uh they have at home you haven't
8:44 been to my house lately have you yeah well okay I have kid
8:48 stuff yeah I have kid stuff but like okay like my aunt she has everything
8:53 from like she has a dedicated juicer just for lemons and limes okay okay yeah
8:58 yeah she's got a noodle maker she's got a okay she's got a salad spinner and I'm
9:03 sitting here going you know what you know how you dry the salad you kind of
9:08 shake it over the sink and you you put it in the bowl it's done you know that's
9:12 like it's like the spending too much time on QVC or The Shopping Network
9:15 right you're just like oh that looks useful and you buy it but then you really never use it so Dennis's parents
9:19 own an inhome sauna and remember this
9:23 isn't Taiwan like it's not a huge house in Taiwan that's a little bit surprising but I if I remember correctly in Finland
9:27 there's a sauna per person okay sonas are just not that popular in Canada and
9:32 and number two they had this like like
9:36 riding thing that I posted on social media that was like an exercise device
9:41 of some sort and I'm sitting here going you know that is like the erotic B Flex
9:46 you know it's like I think it was for core exercises but man did it look like
9:51 and this is what I want to know are people not learning everyone goes out
9:55 and buys a rowing machine or a treadmill
9:58 or an ice cream maker everybody does it
10:02 and they just keep doing it what's wrong
10:05 with a rowing machine or a treadmill the fact that you use it six
10:10 times yeah but those people are one in a
10:13 thousand that's true that's the point we we have a chocolate
10:17 fountain what like those ones you see at
10:21 like a party or a wedding yeah don't ask me why but how many time how many times
10:24 have you guys used that we've never used it but we've lent it out plenty of times
10:30 so basically if if Jay's two cents
10:33 doesn't end up working out for you then you're going to start up a like
10:37 pointless white people appliances rental house kitchen loans
10:42 yeah yeah there is probably a business
10:46 there like like my parents my parents bought the uh bought the slicer machine
10:51 the like v-shaped blade where you can like slice fries out of a potato in just
10:56 like one thing um we had the bamx which
11:00 by the way did pay for itself in homemade mayonnaise you can make mayonnaise in
11:05 like minutes with the bamx I'm not trying to sell you the bamx okay but um
11:10 you know we had that one what that is so I really didn't know there was that many people into homemade mayonnaise
11:15 yeah I don't think there are a lot of people into it so much as there are
11:20 um a few people that are really into it
11:23 so that makes sense anyway my my take on the homepod is okay it's got seven beam
11:30 forming speakers and a 4-in subwoofer and apparently apple
11:36 is really excited about the sound quality they're going after the Sonos
11:41 Play 3 with extra functionality if it does all this stuff really well then
11:44 great but one of the things I love so much about Sonos is that whether I'm
11:49 using an iPhone or an Android device
11:52 this week I can use it regardless so I
11:55 have to see how Apple again that's not a use case for like almost anybody well
12:00 okay I can go over to my parents house and regardless of what kind of phone I'm
12:03 using I can tap into Sonos and play some music which is pretty cool well how
12:08 about the fact that the Sonos is also its own music server too you can just offload your favorites and create
12:12 playlists on the Sono on your own on Sonos on your own network regardless of
12:15 what devices are hooked up to it isn't it just speakers uh Sonos yeah no uh
12:21 it's no it's pretty Co can can it answer how tall is a average draft no it can't
12:25 do that so then it's not really the same thing though but the logic being that
12:29 that if I'm going to buy a a a ipood or
12:32 whatever the homepod um if I'm going to buy a homepod I probably already have
12:37 one of these in my pocket now I get a lot of Sonos mail because I've signed up
12:41 for their stuff it's like one of the few newsletters I actually pay attention to and I there was some early talk like
12:46 late last year early this year about their being an assistant in development
12:50 so I don't know feel like a new assistant from Sonos probably wouldn't
12:53 be very good considering what Apple and Google and Microsoft have been able to
12:57 do in this long of a Time who knows um
13:00 and considering how terrible everything is honestly I have no faith in a Sonos
13:05 home assistant I just don't need a home assistant no but you're not here's the
13:09 thing all these use cases for smart appliances let's talk smart appliances
13:13 for a minute okay oh oh I'm going to lose now okay all these use cases
13:17 they're like yeah what what is it you can uh your
13:21 juicer needs to be connected to the internet you're your it's not going to
13:25 work like uh I forget who it was I think it was Samsung showing a smart washer
13:28 and dryer and they're like yeah so you could like control your washer and dryer
13:32 from the distance I'm like you mean instead of when I actually put the
13:37 bloody clothes in yeah just getting
13:40 notifications that your load is done could be helpful we have an LG Smart
13:45 refrigerator so okay okay what's it
13:48 what's it do why could why would I care it warns you like when the filters need
13:51 to be changed if a door got left open if it's under temperature um and a light on
13:56 the front of the fridge couldn't do that well if the door got left open and
14:00 you're upstairs cuz you're going to bed light on the front of the fridge
14:04 eight-year-old child we have a we have a
14:07 piece of paper on our fridge at work saying please remember to close the
14:10 fridge because works for like days seem to do it I'm just saying these things
14:15 aren't completely useless and I think considering my comment about normies
14:19 being more into Google home and all that kind of stuff the Apple homepod might do
14:24 better for them than the watch did so targeting people who can't figure out
14:28 how to close their fridge no but at the same time like like like
14:31 you say it's not going to be very helpful for you because you won't be chopping vegetables cuz you're not the
14:36 one do most now ours doesn't least go as far also whoa shots okay you go first
14:42 Jay but I have to address the shots fired over there okay ours is at least
14:46 not one of those ones that will like tell you what you're low of in the fridge and automatically link it to your
14:51 Amazon Fresh cart and whatnot I mean we we do have the Amazon Fresh like scanner
14:55 thing my wife likes to use that but there's refrigerators out there that
14:58 will tell when you're low on milk and it would like automatically order it for
15:01 you at least we didn't go that far I can I can but I can actually see that being
15:06 useful whereas the more rudimentary stuff I don't know if I care as much about okay and back to your whole thing
15:11 I don't need to convert metric to Imperial because I actually already know
15:15 these tpoon 5 Ms tablespoon 15 M I don't
15:20 care your conversion 250 Ms a liter is
15:24 approximately a c it's a little more a gallon is 4 lit approximately about 3.75
15:30 L okay I can convert this crap in my head I don't need an ipood I only speak
15:36 American so I need the help okay not
15:39 everyone can and what if your kid asks you a question and it's of something
15:44 super weird that I'm going to make it up because that's half the fun of being a
15:48 parent Daddy what what does a giraffe do all
15:53 day well son giraffes actually play a
15:56 lot of Poker people don't know this because you look at those hoops and you
16:00 think gee how do they even hold the cards but giraffes like see it's endless
16:06 okay you know you make it up no problem my dad made things up to me and I turned
16:12 out just fine i' say that explains a
16:17 lot debatable Brandon is yelling
16:20 debatable up your crap Brandon um all
16:24 right probably move on let's talk about the new IMAX because I think basically
16:29 this explains how AMD managed to remain
16:33 so secretive about Vega because AMD
16:36 leaks everything but it seems like if
16:39 you're going to collaborate with apple and apple wants to be the one to
16:44 announce the first desktop you know Vega
16:47 graphics card then people probably ran around the office going okay no look for
16:51 real this time for real this time don't leak Vega okay don't leak Vega Apple
16:56 wants to do it and if we don't sell them to Apple we're not going to have a lot
17:01 of customers so I'm Sal I'm salty about
17:04 the whole thing okay all right so hit me hit me okay so am AMD is kind of
17:10 rebasing its whole Foundation right of of community oriented gamer oriented and
17:14 we've been waiting for Vega for quite a while right but I feel a little bit
17:18 stabbed at the back by AMD that they're launching it in an Apple product first I
17:22 mean that's kind of where I'm at with that so when the news came out I basically just kind of like face palmed
17:27 and then turned it off cuz at that point I just felt like I just felt like AMD
17:31 sold out on that one now it's no it's no news that AMD Graphics have been in
17:35 MacBook Pros in mat for a while but I just feel I just feel like the the Vega
17:40 that everyone's been waiting for kind of go name for and I I don't like it either
17:46 but I'll I'm willing to give them a little bit of benefit of the doubt
17:50 listening to what you're saying I hear that but we all know that they need as
17:54 much money as possible so there was some amount of like they're going to make
17:58 more from this if there's some amount of temporary exclusivity deal or something
18:03 then I'm willing to give it to them because it's only Vega Pro then I guess
18:07 that kind of makes sense but I mean we're still waiting for more kind of gamer or mainstream Vega but still
18:12 that's fair right now to my knowledge apple is the only tier one computer
18:18 maker that not forget about being
18:22 exclusive to AMD Radeon apple is the
18:26 only tier one PC maker that even
18:29 emphasizes AMD Radeon so I do understand
18:33 why apple is getting some special treatment here because even like so I
18:37 got a press release today that Acer is doing like a $799 budget gaming desktop
18:42 I was actually thinking yeah we might actually pull it in for review cuz it's
18:46 uh um it's ryzen based okay yeah yeah
18:50 they still put a 1050 in it wow and it's
18:54 just like okay so part of the problem is that Supply is really tight on the RX
18:58 card because cryptocurency
19:02 important but part of it too is that
19:06 like they're competitive but they're they're not like uh they're not like a
19:10 you know a green team crushing solution at at any level in the product stack the
19:15 twitch chat is so salty that you said tier one what tier one is like a it's a
19:21 term you can Define I know it's not it's
19:25 not an opinion they're so upset I mean I mean they're going to
19:29 hate who the rest of the tier ones are okay Dell HP Lenova what what did you
19:35 think what do you think I was going to say like
19:39 ASUS MSI I'm sorry those gu
19:44 okay those guys are tier one motherboard
19:48 manufacturers yeah but in the PC system
19:51 space Enterprise they are way behind
19:57 okay I'm sorry get over it um so let's
20:00 talk a little bit about the device that
20:04 Vega Graphics are going into um I may do
20:08 a dedicated video on this actually just kind of discussing this but Jay hit me
20:12 with your thoughts on an iMac
20:17 Pro um okay so should I should I do some
20:21 approximate specs for the viewers before you kind of launch into it or yeah cuz I
20:25 was kind of pulling up something sure okay so let's let's do some context for
20:29 you guys so much like the Mac Pro this
20:32 is a balls to thewall machine we're talking up to 18 coron we're talking up
20:38 to 128 gigs of ECC RAM we're talking
20:41 radon Vega Graphics a 5k display four Thunderbolt 3 ports with support for
20:46 external gpus so that Vega GPU however
20:50 they're implementing it whether it's mxm or whether it's baked right into the PCB
20:55 um is upgradeable in a manner of speaking up to a 4 TB SSD a 10bit panel
21:01 new black peripherals cuz that's important uh UHS 2 sdx people that might
21:08 be into the homepod it is 500 W power
21:12 supply 1080p webcam starting at
21:15 $5,000 I mean this to me looks like a
21:19 pretty bananas machine but it's in an
21:23 allinone yeah uh I'm a little surprised that they
21:27 spent so much empasis on specs cuz given kind of where they've been over like
21:31 let's just say the last 8 years um I mean you can still buy an i7 dual core
21:37 right MacBook Pro so it just seems it
21:40 just seems kind of surprising to me that they actually are going with the top tier Hardware this time around cuz
21:45 Apple's always been about software um optimizations right yes so I'm kind of
21:49 wondering experience you buy a product not a spec sheet right me given the
21:55 price to Specs I don't and the fact that it's Apple I actually don't think that
21:58 that price is really like out of whack I think it's right in line with where it
22:01 should be cuz you you could build a similar Intel based system with the same
22:04 specs and spend just as much yeah and that's that's true depending though on
22:10 what we are actually getting for five grand cuz that might be maybe that's not
22:15 Vega and maybe that's I mean it's certainly not an 18 core processor it
22:19 does it does say it starts it does say it starts with a 8 core Zeon so that
22:23 would be maybe is it eight core does it have eight gigs of ramig up to 15
22:29 yeah you never know how much Apple's going to kneecap something honestly for
22:32 me the thing that I'm that I really take exception with and the thing that again
22:36 I might do like some kind of a follow-up video on here is that they're that that
22:42 they're calling it pro that people that
22:45 the pro users got upset when they took
22:49 away the tower that you can put expansion cards in and they gave us a
22:54 cylinder that you can clip that you can
22:57 plug expansion devices into and that now
23:01 you know and they did say earlier this year that they're going to have
23:05 something to address the pro user I guess what I want to know is was this it
23:10 because to me professional means modular
23:14 upgradeable it it it means a path to continue using it and the other thing
23:19 that really upsets me and that makes that makes Apple's desktop ecosystem
23:25 almost impossible to support as a business owner is the unpredictability
23:30 of it yeah if we go back for the last 10 years so we we just upgraded our editing
23:35 workstations it was kind of time it had been three almost four years something
23:39 like that and so let's say over a span
23:42 of 10 years if our company were to have
23:45 followed a typical upgrade cycle of 3 to
23:48 four years we would have had Towers we
23:51 would have had cylinders we would have
23:54 been stuck with old cylinders thinking holy crap are we going to have to just
23:59 go straight to laptops and then Apple would have dumped an aiio on us with
24:04 that hold on a second I mean what if we just upgraded our displays apparently no
24:09 the new pro version is coming probably sometime in 2018 okay which still
24:13 doesn't address my fundamental problem with apple not having a clear strategy
24:19 in a professional environment I need to know what my upgrade path is right so
24:24 that if I'm going to invest in a bunch of brand new 8K displays from Del let
24:28 say exactly I need to know that the new machine that I'm going to have available
24:33 to me is going to make any sense oh wait
24:36 oh this one comes with a with a with a
24:39 display already in it like I just I don't understand Apple's Pro lineup um
24:45 so that's kind of where I'm that's kind of where I'm going with that is this the
24:48 first iMac Pro though I'm not sure yes it is I think so okay yep so they're
24:53 just in they're just introducing then the new Pro Line of IMAX but for the so
24:57 then okay based on the hardware available in the iMac are you is the new
25:00 Macbook Pro or excuse me the new Mac Pro coming out in 2018 going to be
25:04 essentially the same Hardware in a tower format with AIO water cooling again I
25:08 mean I have to kind of wonder what the next tier of Hardware could be I kind of
25:11 Wonder too like I I would love for Apple to just go straight back to
25:17 basics here's a tower here's where the expansion cards go here's how you add a
25:22 freaking hard drive that's connected to a SATA interface instead of connected to
25:27 a Thunderbolt interface for some reason their desktop side of their Enterprise
25:30 has always been more concerned with the form factor than anything
25:36 else yeah so I don't know that's that's
25:40 where I'm at on that I'm glad that they do have a legitimate professional you
25:45 know high-end great option but um I'm
25:48 I'm frustrated that pro products are
25:51 being treated as basically
25:55 disposable other than being able to upgrade the Graphics which is good but
26:01 the fact that we're doing this over Thunderbolt means that there is going to
26:05 be some kind of bottleneck that exists already and can only get worse so we did
26:10 a a fairly thorough I think investigation where we looked at alien
26:13 weare's Graphics amplifier versus the razor core and found that already with a
26:19 top tier 1080 TI there are performance
26:22 differences between a straight PCIe interface and Thunderbolt 3 with all the
26:27 extra overhead people criticized us they
26:30 said lus no one's going to put a 1080 TI in that thing and I'm sitting here going
26:35 well that wasn't the point the point is that 3 years from now when it is time to
26:39 upgrade your graphics card something with the power of a 1080 TI is going to
26:42 cost $199 yeah and that's exactly what
26:45 you're going to put in it yeah well I played around Thunderbolt 3 for the
26:49 first time earlier this year with you know the external graphics card
26:53 Solutions and I saw the same thing you did in fact it was so the performance
26:57 degradation was so bad or even Thunderbolt 3 that I had to get
27:00 confirmation that the anywhere between 25 to 35% performance loss was normal
27:05 and Al so oh yeah that's normal okay then what's the point of buying top tier
27:09 Graphics like this when it's just going to dumb down to a tier or two lower on
27:14 the graphic Solutions so like you like like you're saying though if if using an
27:17 interface like that as the option to stay forward compatible then you're just cutting yourself off at the knees and
27:21 the ankles and everything as you go forward one note about this new iMac I
27:25 don't know what versions I know there's the pro and I believe there's nonpr new
27:28 versions the only thing I've seen is of the non-pro but I'm assuming it's the
27:31 same for both the CPU and the RAM are both replaceable yep that was true of
27:36 previous IMAX but not GPU still like we're talking about anyways okay so
27:41 that's frustrating um and I I kind of
27:45 doubt people are going to be super hardcore throttled by at least the CPU
27:50 part of that you might be able to get away with the classic Mac thing where you buy the one with less RAM and then
27:54 upgrade the RAM yourself cuz it's way freaking cheaper but who knows
27:59 I don't know it's interesting yeah so I don't know I still haven't decided if
28:03 I'm going to do a piece on it it kind of depends whether I can sort of come up
28:06 with a coherent enough argument but it is something that I've wanted to talk about for quite some time Apple's sort
28:11 of schizophrenic approach to professional studio versus Mac Pro Oh
28:17 Lordy I don't well I don't necessarily so it's too early in the surface product
28:23 uh lineup line yeah for me to really
28:26 talk about you know uh Microsoft strategy cuz right now it's really hard
28:31 to tell what it is I I can't discuss um
28:34 one member of the family whatever that
28:37 really means yeah whatever Creator means I mean this thing spanks the surface
28:40 Studio on paper anyway performance wise definitely yeah and upgradeability wise
28:45 even yeah service studio is horrible nightmare to get into yeah um so should
28:51 we do the big announcement the reason that Jay's on the show today oh yeah
28:56 should we do that now actually you know what no what we're going to do is do it
29:00 after the ads oh get so why don't we uh
29:03 why don't we do our sponsor call outs first yeah um hold on I just want to do
29:07 a I want to do a quick tweet do you want to start one of them and then Jade should we just we'll just uh we'll just
29:12 put you away for now um okay I'll I'll duck out of the way okay cool uh sure
29:17 I'm going to conveniently start with Savage jerky box dog can I have some is
29:21 this a new box this is not a new box are
29:24 they still okay uh oh yeah probably I mean how does jerky go bad yeah okay
29:29 should I take on the reaper today what did you do last time I don't remember I
29:33 think I did the second hottest the one that like has more that's five bars the
29:38 one five bars uh yeah the reaper five bars so Savage jerky fairly
29:41 self-explanatory it's it's it's jerky or you can get bacon actually this maple
29:45 bacon that's mine you don't get any maple bacon that favorite one where's my
29:49 favorite one I'm going to do the do we have a Carolina Reaper that's already
29:52 open um there we go yeah there we go
29:56 yeah we got we got an open one this one one's not as popular just to eat for LS
30:01 because it uh oh no we don't have an open one I don't think we've done this
30:05 one since the last spot because if you into spicy jerky this is like for you
30:10 I'm not that into spicy jerky there we go Mojo habanero that's my favorite one
30:14 they all come with generally four bars of heat on the front so it'll tell you
30:19 how hot it is moah habanero is a three the reaper is special it comes with five
30:25 bars and they're all filled because it is just more hot than freaking anything
30:29 Savage jerky is a sponsor of ours they they use the best ingredients without
30:34 nitrates or preservatives um their goal is to create a snack that is full of
30:37 flavor and spice and won't actually be bad for you apparently their inspiration
30:42 came from the Flavor of garlic lime and cilantro M I believe that you can taste
30:46 it in almost all of them if you can still if you still have taste buds that
30:49 work after you're done with if you go for the reaper you might want not taste it for long they'll taste it for a
30:54 little bit at the start and then it goes away I Don't Fear the Reaper or the wind
30:57 or the rain be like they are come on baby apparently
31:01 outside of this just the traditional flavors most people go for Sriracha
31:05 bacon or Maple Buffalo bacon which makes sense to uh Linus' preferences but yeah
31:11 they're pretty freaking good they have a whole bunch of different flavors they're really into the spicy stuff hence Savage
31:16 if you're into that so you can check them out over at Savage jerky.com and uh
31:20 once I figure out how to get the package open because apparently they don't have
31:24 stupid people proof packaging and I mean I've I've opened them all flawlessly but
31:29 anyways you know what I've had enough of your crap what the heck if you use offer
31:33 code ltp you'll so you'll save 10% on your order which is pretty cool okay so
31:38 now I get to do the other two ad spots
31:42 with some pain heck
31:45 yeah okay well join cable mods cable modders
31:51 group on Facebook and enter for a chance to win um I took it
31:58 to LTX oh yeah okay may you better do

32:19 thing and it pulls you back what what all ones are going to be there we're going to have like six different
32:24 ones um do you need something no I'm
32:29 fine okay Brandon has soilent if you
32:32 want to buy some soilent off him and it actually works quite well no I'm
32:36 fine okay I'm going to keep going cuz I think he lost track of his thing um
32:40 outside of the carnival games there's going to be a bunch of other booths uh
32:45 like I'm going to be doing a VR Booth be editing things got so we're going to
32:48 have the bunge run we're going to have the hamster ball RAC race we're going to
32:55 have the uh pedestal joust oh that's cool we're going to have have sumo
32:58 wrestling motorized World Cup soccer which which is basically um uh rocket
33:03 league in real life yeah and softsided money Booth oh we're going to have a
33:08 money Booth that's pretty cool I'm not sure how that works but sure I have no
33:12 idea how that works um but yeah if you if you check out their site uh you can
33:16 enter to win tickets to that you'll still have to get their oh wow no two

33:25 winning Hotel airfare and the the limo tour of theice so C Mod is
33:31 sponsoring the crap out of that so go join their cable mod group over on

33:47 will be a link in the video description as well if you're watching this on
33:50 YouTube um but yeah you guys have seen cable mod cables we've used them in tons
33:54 of different stuff I use them in my personal rig we use them in probably
33:59 most of our builds at we use them in most of our builds at this point basically they're awesome there's no
34:03 reason not not to love those guys thas Bo um and they do other stuff now too
34:08 like the other guy whose name I always forget he's the bomb too you did a
34:12 pretty good job with that with what that jerky how much did you bite out of it
34:16 honestly I only had probably about a piece this big yeah eating a whole one
34:20 of those is like really rough um you got

35:51 what exactly why why why were you in the credits for all the episodes did you
35:57 take away my bacon no where did my bacon
36:00 go never take man's bacon no that oh wait yeah that is the Buffalo okay I'm
36:03 I'm not upset anymore okay okay Carry On sorry I got I was about to get real real
36:07 Angry cuz I thought my bacon jerky was gone Okay carry on Jay no I think it's
36:11 funny because uh I think Ed put the credits up or after the first episode I
36:14 think the credits were up and showed me there um yep right next to Jonathan who
36:19 uh because it said there thanks for loaning equipment when we needed it and other uh stuff right and some folks
36:25 there's some pretty sharp people out there in the audience and they were like oh I guess we know who the celebrity
36:28 judge is and I was like no clearly I loan them equipment that's why I'm down
36:32 here and Ed like liked that tweet he's oh yeah cuz I was trying to I this is
36:35 probably the hardest secret I ever kept we're like What 3 months like three
36:39 months past this it's been a yeah so I was the the guest celebrity judge on the
36:43 RGB Factor uhhuh so uh scrapyard Wars
36:48 Episode 4 have you seen it yet I have you have okay okay so you got early
36:53 access to it so scrapyard Wars Episode 4
36:57 is coming this weekend uh I think it's going to be on Sunday and uh without any
37:03 spoilers I think it's fair to say this
37:09 Jay is a very
37:12 impactful member of the cast for the
37:15 fourth and final episode he not only you
37:19 know did what he did as our celebrity guest he also lent us his Studio space
37:24 which was very generous and he hung out with us us until the we hours of the
37:29 morning because how many messages did I send you saying yeah hey we're not
37:33 coming yet it's going to be later hey actually it's going to be
37:37 later can we just stand around for a little while I I I I took it as an opportunity
37:43 to just sit on the couch here and watch some TV and some Netflix something I
37:47 never get to do cuz I clean the studio right I was like okay I want a fresh
37:50 late for you guys to be able to set up however you wanted to you know take take rain of the space and I had only moved
37:54 in 2 weeks prior to that so it was pretty empty right compared to now like
37:57 you have to you can't walk sideways to go through down the hallway but yeah um
38:00 no it was it was it was fun because I got to see scrapyard Wars for the first
38:05 time literally from the finale backwards
38:09 because it's like okay I see how it ends I Know How It Ends but I have no idea
38:13 how we got here so it was really weird even for me you know because I I knew
38:16 you kept sending me these texts like we're delayed we're sorry we're delayed we're sorry and I'm just like oh my God
38:20 what is going on over there I'm thinking this better make for some good drama and it didn't
38:24 disappoint so for those of you who want to watch scrapyard War episode 4 early
38:29 I'm actually posting a link in the chat Floatplane Club is um our Early Access
38:34 platform that we've got over on the Linus Tech tips Forum that we would love
38:37 to open up to other creators at some
38:46 point Sorry I think some of those coughs are legitimate cu the jerky no not all
38:51 of them but this is the maple bacon jerky okay no this stuff's fine um only
38:56 only the worst of content creators would consider such a platform yeah Early
39:01 Access it does nothing but hurt the audience except when they they don't
39:05 notice that it's happening yeah except when that happens uh also you know it
39:09 kind of helps the Creator there is the whole adpocalypse thing going on that's
39:14 I don't know if anybody noticed that yeah um all right doing okay but that's
39:18 literally killing something should we get back to maybe about 10 more minutes of news and then um we'll bid Ado to Jay
39:23 and bring on Nikki V for one final land show stream yeah did um actually okay we
39:30 kind of touched on this but this is sort of uh sort of a big deal AMD's GPU
39:34 Supply exhausted by
39:37 cryptocurrency so I'll go ahead and screen share here real quick here so if
39:41 you've been running out there trying to buy an rx470 or R excuse me 570
39:46 sorry of honly Freudian slip a 570 or a
39:51 580 um yeah you've probably had a bit of
39:55 a hard time because people are let's see let's have a look at what this stuff is
39:59 so what are these coins I don't even know have you been keeping up with this
40:03 Jay only a little bit see I I realized
40:06 it was starting to pick back up in popularity when it was becoming difficult to Source this because I'm I'm
40:10 getting to the point where I'm just kind of buying and building the systems on my
40:13 own right and not taking sponsorship on everything so I went and tried to
40:17 legitimately buy these for for a video and I'm like I can't get any RX based
40:22 graphics card 400 or 500 series uh and it was just like what the heck so I
40:26 started researching it and it seems like we've gone full circle right because at
40:29 the beginning everyone wanted less power consumption and and they wanted the out
40:33 of camera with the what it's actually called when they do the hashing or whatever right and they wanted um they
40:38 wanted more efficiency on that so they kind of started coming across with these
40:42 custombuilt computers I think Jerry did a really good video about uh you know
40:46 the progression of Bitcoin mining and then I don't understand how we got back
40:49 to here though well it looks like it's ethereum mining that people are really
40:54 into right now ethereum okay yeah so um
40:58 I actually had someone internally pitching to me that we should do a a
41:01 Bitcoin mining update and I was like not Bitcoin but cryptocurrency mining update
41:06 and I was like oh really that again and I didn't really look into it I really
41:09 should have because then we could have been a little bit more uh more topical
41:13 on been pretty huge yeah what's what's the price of Bitcoin right now because
41:18 no matter what people are mining they're all converting it out anyway so yeah
41:22 Bitcoin is equal to$ 3794 Canadian dollars so there a Gold
41:27 Rush again basically yeah I can try to find US Dollars which is that's one
41:31 whole Bitcoin right cuz I think they also you get them in bits right yes you
41:35 get part it's 2,824 is US dollar per Bitcoin which is
41:41 huge if you can see the hold what did
41:44 you search um uh just one BTC to
41:47 USD so I'm going to go ahead and share that with the audience here
41:51 yeah so there you go the charts you can see you can see the big yeah you can you
41:57 see it pop up big gold rush back in 2014 H late 2013 early
42:02 2014 oh sorry that was mid 2014
42:05 yeah and it was news mhm and then in the
42:10 last since since the end of last year it's gone from like 500 bucks to over
42:14 2,000 and it's it's very close to over 3K which is pretty insane yeah pretty
42:20 incredible so once again I've missed out
42:24 once again I suck at everything but I'm I'm over it uh what else we got
42:30 here um PCI Express 4.0 specs finalized
42:35 the original articles from tech report and also in other news PCI Express 5.0
42:40 is announced hoay so it's going to be 16 Giga
42:44 transfers per second on tap so basically
42:47 we're we're doubling it again
42:51 um so that's really important on the
42:56 server side of things and less important for consumers yeah I mean I guess it's
43:01 cool in the sense that like consumer platforms that don't have as many PCI
43:05 Lanes will be able to run like I mean at this point you're going to be able to
43:10 run in what a 1x slot or like a like a 4X slot what you
43:16 used to be able to run in a hold on a second so that would be an 8X a 16 okay
43:21 hold on a second you're going to be able to run in like a 2X slot which I believe does exist but no one implements it if I
43:25 recall correctly what you would have been able to run in a 60x slot back in
43:29 gen one so that's that's cool right that's pretty cool that's cool are we
43:34 excited throwing stuff into big 16x slot things isn't really going to be a big
43:38 difference though um yeah so it still needs to
43:42 undergo a final review but um scale of 1
43:45 to 10 Jay how excited eh I mean I I don't do my workflow
43:52 doesn't really matter that much on on PC e through put but is there a timeline on
43:56 that um well right now it still needs a couple little things um one big question
44:02 is whether or not AMD and Intel will even bother to implement PCIe Gen 4 on
44:08 consumer Parts yeah the timeline could be who
44:12 knows yeah um on the server side of things though PCI E Gen 5 which will
44:17 double it again uh designed to offer 128
44:20 gigabytes per second of total bandwidth will allow us to have 400 gabit per
44:25 second Ethernet Solutions like that's super sick that's cool so
44:31 that's like amazing yeah um oh this is
44:35 fun we're already like we have like no contact at Samsung whatsoever because we
44:39 suck um but we saw this earlier this
44:43 morning we were like yeah need to get our hands on some of that Samsung
44:46 announced I think it's a 32 by1 32 by9
44:49 sorry uh wide aspect ratio monitor have
44:52 you seen this have you heard about this yeah it's like three 4x3 yeah
44:57 that's ridiculous and that's that is curved
45:02 right yeah it is geez yeah with free sync yeah for
45:05 gamers that's pretty wild 144 Herz 1 ms
45:09 response time HDR 10 free sync 2 quantum
45:13 dot all the things all the all the
45:16 buzzwords Samsung's one of those companies where like they have world
45:21 class display technology and just no idea yeah like I
45:27 stopped by their Booth I think it was like two CES ago and they were showing
45:31 off like a freesync monitor and they
45:34 didn't have the refresh rate and nobody in the whole Booth I swear I asked like
45:38 eight people including like the guy who was in charge of the monitor section
45:42 knew the refresh rate I'm just like you
45:45 know that's actually like the important
45:48 spec for a gam monitor right now it's kind of like when I was shopping at uh
45:52 Fri Electronics I if you guys have those up there but Fri is Big electronic store
45:56 here in the St and uh I was shopping for panels and I was looking at high refresh
46:00 rate Stu and they had them all hooked up to HDMI so it was like not a single panel
46:06 was actually displaying anything towards like what it possibly could and when I
46:09 tried to explain to the to the manager of that section I was like you need to
46:12 put display ports on these uh he was like no it's HDMI it's fine it carries
46:16 audio too I'm like yeah so basically Point dude my
46:21 wife was with me on that one and even she knew more and she like doesn't care about any of this stuff she was like
46:25 yeah I don't think that's supped supposed to look that way oh man
46:30 terrible all right last one before we bring on Nikki V uh Intel coffee Lake
46:35 CPUs delayed so the rumor that Intel is
46:40 going to be releasing six and four core
46:44 coffee Lake uh processors on their mainstream
46:48 platform uh this year it seems to have been quashed it will instead be
46:52 apparently and this is all rumors um sometime in February of 2018 can you
46:58 imagine how much of a better position Intel would be in today if they had
47:02 brought six core before AMD launched
47:06 ryzen yeah if KB Lake was six core I I
47:11 think they could have but they got very complacent over the last decade on their
47:14 on their own road map and they just pushing stuff off I think this should
47:18 begin the lonus and J collab angry session the the angry the the anger the
47:24 299 talk I want I want to say something real quick I took a lot of FL oh just
47:29 copying L cuz he had a viral video I said that day in compy text I looked at
47:34 Nick and I said Monday we're recording this we're recording my thoughts on this
47:37 this is days before you and I ever talked about it and before your video
47:41 ever went up the difference is you took advantage of walking in the rain you
47:44 took advantage of walking in the rain you went for that whole like depressing
47:48 I'm surprised that that whoever edited that video didn't put a gray Hue on
47:51 there too and just make it super depressing but I saw that video and I
47:54 was like you son of a
47:57 uh but no I I I had I had to do it anyway um I mean there's so many things
48:03 you can talk about right I mean I shot that video like four times cuz I kept kind of dumbing it down I was like I I
48:07 was rambling so long on that and but there's so many things that are wrong
48:11 with that all the way down to uh a pay wall for raid I mean what the hell
48:16 man I just I liked that one I don't even
48:20 know cuz like I'll tell you this like even on the server side so I recently
48:24 rolled out an NVMe storage server so it's got uh 48 NVMe bays and I
48:30 actually had some issues with Intel's rst Enterprise drivers where it's
48:35 limited to maximum 12 drives and that
48:39 was just like a tech limitation that was like a driver limitation it wasn't like
48:43 a pay wall thing they weren't asking for anything it just straight up had no way
48:46 to do that um and I actually wanted to run Cheapo RS raid 5 on that high-speed
48:53 Nas and the reason for that is that I'm doing real time replication of that Nas
48:59 to a separate box so ultimately if I only have one drive of redundancy or it
49:04 just kind of craps the bed I'm going to switch everybody over we're going to be
49:07 editing off the other box while I rebuild it and get everything I mean it'll be inconvenient but it's not the
49:11 end of the world yeah so I couldn't do that because of like a driver limitation
49:16 well now I'm wondering if I'm not going to be able to do that unless I buy an
49:20 expensive dongle because if they're doing it on x299 yeah get like two more
49:25 minutes uh if they're doing it on x299 then they're probably going to do it on
49:28 the server side too right you I I guess
49:32 they could probably go both ways right if you're if you're already paying the Enterprise Solutions on on the on the
49:38 server side of things maybe it would be implemented but then again that kind of sucks too I mean because then you're
49:42 talking about double standards in terms of of their of of their
49:47 just uh their mentality regarding how
49:50 how they want to implement and roll out this stuff to me this honestly feels like they just were caught off guard by
49:55 a lot of of things happening in the industry right now and I feel like what
49:59 has kind of flipped on them a little bit is their official response regarding
50:04 ryen was they felt like the consumers are going to take a weit and see mentality regarding how well they want
50:08 to adopt ryzen I I feel like everyone jumped on ryzen and now everyone wants
50:12 to wait and see with Intel yep because
50:15 and that is such an ignorant like why would why would people wait and see wait
50:19 and see what you're either building a computer or you're not yeah and of
50:23 course ryz in like every other new launch had some had some growing pain in
50:26 the start but so did x99 you know and so I mean it's one of those things where
50:30 like today and that was a big thing I asked a lot of the the motherboard
50:33 manufacturers and odms out there at at compex was are things better on ryzen
50:38 now and they all really assured me like yeah things have matured the drivers are
50:41 good the memory stability and support is there um compatibility is is good and
50:46 they they basically were telling me like hey you should you should maybe try out ryzen a bit again because I did it for
50:51 the first 30 days at lunch had a couple of weird idioc secrecies there but then
50:55 I just kind of moved on to my Intel system which is already together and I
50:58 use it for work but I find myself now like okay I should probably I should
51:04 take another crack at it but I I would love to see the Threadripper stuff only
51:07 because like just like your workflow it's like I would I could take advantage
51:11 of all those cores yeah um but even the 1800x is is a good is a good place to to
51:16 to look at for absolutely cheap Enterprise solution I wouldn't convert
51:21 all of our editing machines over anytime soon just because like I mean you know
51:25 what we're going to have a video coming out where we roll all of our editing
51:28 machines up to 10 core 6950 XS M and
51:33 already on our Early Access people are like yo what what the heck Intel has new
51:37 stuff what about Threadripper what about this what about that stability is
51:41 important and I'm I I've responded there and I'll respond proactively now to
51:46 everybody else um it is no
51:49 coincidence that about 6 months or 4
51:52 months before x99 launched all our
51:56 editing machines moved to 4960x on x79
52:01 yeah there is something to be said for something that is powerful enough and
52:05 has had three years to work out all the
52:08 potential issues when you're talking about a workstation for what we do for
52:12 what we do maturity is way better for us
52:16 than just raw power and cutting edge bleeding edge technology they call it bleeding edge for a reason yeah and if
52:20 it was for myself no problem I'll run whatever random crap beta drivers
52:25 whatever but if I have a room of not necessarily techy people that are going
52:28 to come to me every time there's an issue with it yeah no man and like the
52:32 6950x isn't new either uh no it's not
52:35 upgrade immediately when it launched I'm doing exactly the same thing I'm going
52:39 at the end of the platform cycle and I have no problem with that out of
52:43 curiosity um what's your take on 6950x
52:47 versus 7900k then or excuse me 6900k so
52:52 any particular reason the exq um because the whole upgrade was sponsored by Intel
52:57 and if I can ask for anything I want I might as well take the 6950x it does
53:01 perform in my benchmarking I did a whole video on this a while back marginally
53:05 better got
53:08 it marginally plus plus it just it X
53:11 just sounds cooler yeah that's that's why they have X on all the new ones
53:15 anyway thanks Jay um I have to give the people what they want guys if you love
53:20 Jay then you can check him out over at youtube.com/ js2 cents that's Jay with a
53:25 zed not to be confused with Jay-Z that guy has a dash Jay's does not um also
53:31 over on Twitter at uh Angry Tech man who's who's salty
53:37 about Stu no wait what what is your Twitter handle again it's at js2 cents
53:41 right yeah I I'm I'm cross branded properly
53:45 hey had enough of your crap man all right anyway so guys go check out Jay
53:49 over there thanks Jay for coming on the show and I'm sorry I have to kind of kick you off now everyone watch episode
53:54 four go yes do that all right thanks for having
53:58 me okay thanks man I'm just going to hang up no
54:03 problem Boop all right so this is it my friends
54:10 this is your last chance for Q&A with the one the only
54:17 Nikki V who has some of his Civic cake with
54:22 him so this was a this was a parting gift for for the one and only Nikki ve
54:27 it's his last day today it's a uh it's a cake in the shape of the of the Civic it
54:32 looks pretty good it's a very good Recreation homemade Ivon homemade yeah
54:37 and it's good cake too except one Minor Detail that I can't leave out yes these
54:41 tires these are brown and you know that
54:45 the rims on that thing are orange but I noticed I saw in a recent picture that
54:49 your Civic uh rims are looking a little faded these days mhm I don't think we
54:54 did enough coats the rims are a little faded
54:57 you know want to know something funny about the Civic how long do you think
55:00 it's been since we painted it uh it was in the spring I think no I don't know
55:04 maybe a year and a half year okay so
55:09 um we moved in here I think 2 years ago
55:14 so it's been almost 2 years that's a long time that car has not been washed
55:19 yeah inside or out oh I know inside in
55:22 that time so if the paint were to be damaged or faded wow it makes sense then
55:28 but you know what I think maybe maybe the maybe the rims aren't fading though
55:32 maybe they're just covered in dirt but how are those windshield wipers holding
55:35 up they are most excellent they're most excellent well there you go okay we got
55:39 the questions rolling in who is going to prank Dennis now who are you handing the
55:43 mantle over to I would say who's got the capability I think you have the pranking
55:48 capability but you don't have the time I think Colton has the time but doesn't
55:53 have the ability maybe Colton maybe he's the the next prankster but I don't know
55:58 I think there's some people who could set up a pretty good prank all right and
56:02 of course the number one question we'll get this out of the way so people ask
56:05 other questions where are you going I am going to the lonus tech tips of biking
56:12 called pinkbike.com it's like if you didn't know what bike like if you
56:16 weren't really a mountain bike or anything you probably wouldn't know about it but if you had stepped foot on
56:21 a mountain bike or if you've ever bought one or anything like that it is like the
56:25 The Hub it's like the the only source there's other websites but this is sort
56:28 of the OG gangster ass website that started in Calgary and then kind of like
56:34 grew as the sport became a sport from nothing so pretty pretty awesome so this
56:39 is as much a question for me as anyone else what exactly will you be doing
56:42 there I'll be uh making videos um I'll
56:46 be running around with a guy named Brett Tippy he's like I would say the only
56:51 person I know that is comparable in energy level to you I would have to I
56:55 would I would run a poll like if people who know knew both both
57:00 people I don't know who has more energy you or him so it would be it would be a
57:04 pretty pretty good uh pretty good battle but uh I'll be making videos and doing
57:09 some web content and stuff for them and and uh you know all things biking just
57:13 trying to uh share my love of biking
57:16 with the world you know so I'm pretty excited we got someone asking will you
57:21 collab will I collab there's not a lot of overlap but I don't think it's I saw
57:26 the overlap and I've seen it with my very own eyes it's it would be a Teran
57:31 ebike thing of course oh Lord but ebikes are now like ebikes have always just
57:36 been like kind of a laughing joke of mountain biking like no who wants to
57:39 ride an ebike but they're getting lighter yeah they're getting lighter and they're making them more like off-road
57:44 capable and now there's some ebikes that are like uh somebody was explaining it
57:49 like the whole stigma around them is that they're stupid they're unnecessary
57:52 it's just the bike industry invol like innovating to make people spend more
57:56 money on that they don't need sorry I said I swore on here um but the uh
58:02 what am I going to do fire you yeah I guess so you could today hey you could
58:06 pull the Luke on me today um the one time I actually fire someone and it
58:11 actually means anything but uh they're getting better in like the regard that
58:16 somebody was somebody explained it to me really well and they're like well you know how Downhill Racing oh I'm Falling
58:21 Away Downhill Racing and stuff is always like really intense and whatever but now
58:25 you could have it where you know you're riding downhill and that's all scary and
58:29 stuff but then you're also like really accelerating uphill which is kind of awesome too okay so what's going to
58:34 happen to the Nikki V character we've got people asking about that I don't
58:38 know do we spoil it I don't know I don't know what happens I actually don't know
58:42 well we we do know what happens I know things aren't looking good for him you
58:46 know he's been If he if he doesn't die from you know health issues from all
58:51 that pain inhalation and uh you know drinking sauce and and all these sorts
58:56 of things that are just really not you know going to make you into a healthy
59:00 person I think uh he's going to suffer some serious health complications in the
59:03 future but you know that's just for me I don't know he probably has another uh
59:07 opinion on that one of these let's see what else we
59:11 got coming in here is there a YouTube channel that Nicki V will be on and I
59:16 think they mean Nick Van burkel of course if you mean me I'm not going to
59:19 try and beat that character to death I've tried to keep it as minimal as like
59:23 I know there's lots of it but it's something that can very easily be
59:27 overdone I'll just Tred to do it once in a while I probably won't be doing that
59:31 on my channel but if you want to see my my personal YouTube channel that has
59:35 always existed that you should have known about if you wanted to see it it's
59:39 just called Burl and I post a video there like probably two times a year if
59:43 that maybe once a year maybe I'll put some more up I don't know but like when
59:48 you do videos full time for a YouTube channel sometimes you like don't really
59:54 have time or energy to work on your own channel so it kind of gets neglected
59:59 okay I've got a tough one I'm going to put you on the spot Shan's potion asks
60:03 what is your favorite memory at
60:07 LMG H favorite memory probably most
60:10 intense memory was that prank where you robbed the house and because that was
60:15 like five things at once it was we had a good day like actually painting the car
60:21 this is all in the same day we went to Linus's house at like 9:00 a.m. or
60:24 something started painting the car then we did something else we played
60:28 badminton or something we ate pizza it was like a great summer day we come back
60:33 and then all of this crap goes down with the with the robbery and like I was I've
60:38 never been so fooled and so pranked in my life that I like I was like I don't
60:44 think anyone ever B you again no I don't think so I don't think so Dennis tried
60:48 to get me with that Tinder prank and he almost did like the one where it was
60:51 like somebody messaging me about like uh like hey it's blah blah blah from Tinder
60:57 and then I was like wait I have a Tinder but I'm very like uninvolved in the
61:02 actual conversation part I just literally have it it's almost like a game I don't use it or like I use it but
61:06 I don't like follow up but then I was like what the hell and then immediately
61:10 after I'm like closing my phone that's when Dennis comes by with the camera
61:14 like got you I was like no you didn't I I knew this all along so we've got a lot
61:19 of people asking about LTX and occasional guest spots and I'll kind of
61:23 jump in this is some these are two things or at least one of them that
61:26 we've discussed and I think it's kind of like um this is an amicable breakup but
61:32 it's still a breakup so I don't think either side is really talking about like
61:36 you know here what are all the things that we're going to do together in the
61:41 future the door is not being closed no and I don't think I don't think uh
61:46 anyone's saying that they would refuse to walk through a door that was open
61:49 we're just we're kind of going
61:52 okay we're going our separate ways and everything
61:56 everything's good there's cake um it's been a hell of a ride um it's actually
62:01 crazy looking back at it because now it seems like not a long time but then when
62:05 you think of all the things that we've done in the meantime been crazy there's
62:08 been like years worth of the pace that we go at here I think is like maybe some
62:12 other places like 5 10 years of work that's the amount of memories are you
62:16 expecting a slower Pace cuz like I was you know I don't know I've done a lot of
62:20 reflecting like I'm thinking about know like Germany like the Mexico trip which
62:25 was like M hectic it felt like we were down there for months but like looking
62:29 back at it there was actually a lot of like crazy kind of fun stuff and like I
62:33 do think some of the stuff is the same Pace like I um I've worked with these
62:37 guys once before in California and it was really high Pace but the one funny
62:41 thing was like because I'm so used to like a crazy crazy turnaround that we've
62:46 had here for the last I don't know 3 years m going to do something where it's
62:50 like okay this is going to be a stressful event you got to get like you
62:54 got to get a like two videos done today I was like oh no problem I've been doing
62:58 this every day for like the last 3 years it feels like this shouldn't this should
63:01 be a breeze but I don't know everything's new challenge so uh I don't
63:05 know Pace will probably be pretty high whatever you do you set the pace right
63:09 so maybe I'll burn myself out of that oh
63:12 sorry will there be a replacement editor actually I mean this is something that
63:17 it comes down to sort of responsible business management you know um Nick had
63:22 cut back to 60% earlier this year so we
63:25 had already proactively hired an additional editor just in case um cuz I
63:30 mean it's not been a secret ever that
63:33 your passion is biking and snowboarding um like I remember someone
63:39 I'm not going to name any names but someone before we hired you said I'm not
63:44 sure how long he'll last his real passion is biking and snowboarding
63:47 videos that's funny um I mean you you
63:52 came into a group where you already knew a lot of the people and they obviously knew you fair well M um so remember I I
63:59 remember even when the job was offered I turned it down and then
64:03 said I'm not going to take this job and then you're like you know what come down
64:08 and then I was convinced easily that's it a high five yeah never G me a hug
64:13 nope what what are we supposed to hug on wow dude you can hug on you can do
64:18 anything you want on W show as Long's yeah yeah or if we
64:26 oh all right Bud all right
64:30 dude get out of here Colton dude you're Crossing line people are asking what's
64:35 going to happen to Channel Super Fun um we don't know actually Channel Super Fun
64:40 Nick or not Nick has had kind of had some challenges over the last couple of
64:45 years we don't know if it makes any sense um the entire twitch chat is
64:49 cringing so hard Colton so thank you for that that was the most awkward hug since
64:54 like my Uncle have you ever se you see me hug my
64:59 wife I don't know I don't know and have
65:02 a great weekend see you later Colton bye guys um yeah well cuz it Channel super
65:08 changed so much because it was it started out as just a side thing for fun
65:12 when there was downtime or like a side thing to try something out that didn't
65:15 fit on the other channels then it kind of turned into like oh crap these
65:19 numbers are actually getting pretty good this might be a legitimate Channel and
65:23 then like taking the different sure I don't know what these are they're good
65:27 ohap buffalo bacon literal piece of bacon right on um yeah it Chang so much
65:34 that you know you don't want to keep beating something to death if it isn't
65:39 like organically growing so I think just maybe a different approach or whatever
65:42 like we noticed that over the past little bit mhm but there's some good
65:47 Golden Era uh Channel Super Fun episodes that I still love so
65:53 much Carolina Reaper jerky I I've have eaten all of that jerky I'll tell you
65:57 one thing it is delicious there's one of them though that like just killed the
66:01 insides of me it's too hot like you feel
66:05 it like everywhere it just destroys your
66:08 your entire insides so watch out for that
66:12 one um all right I don't see I don't
66:16 actually see much else here they want you to bring lonus cat tips back yeah I
66:21 yeah I don't see how often do you sprinkle water on that growing flower
66:26 growing oh I I don't remember the last
66:29 time I uploaded something there to be honest it's just like it's so it comes
66:33 down to when you're busy making videos for like a real Channel MH cuz the idea
66:39 behind line is cat tips was it would just be me like tooling around at home like playing with my cats or whatever
66:43 and like the last thing I want to do when I have a minute to like sit down
66:47 and like cuddle with my cat it's like get a camera like I I don't want to look
66:52 at a camera well that's been the same thing with like my my channel I like
66:55 I've always just put randoms whatever project I had been working on that I
66:59 needed to put somewhere on that YouTube channel of mine but yeah like when
67:03 you're if your week consists of like shooting and editing when you get off
67:08 work and you're like oh okay I need to go do something outside or something
67:11 like anything not related to what I've just been sitting and doing for the last
67:15 you know eight nine whatever hours yeah it's kind of hard to like make a video
67:20 at that point but sometimes you can we got people asking if you're going to
67:24 make a goodbye video if you're going to do final touchups on the uh the
67:27 Lamborghini and to that I will say we have something special in mind as a
67:32 final as a final video so stay tuned
67:36 this won't be the last time you see him but this is the last time you'll physically be in the building this is
67:41 the last time I'll be live that's right I'm
67:45 live are you going to become a daily vlogger I I so hope that nobody thinks
67:51 that that's what that to me like I'm like I hope nobody thinks I'm going to
67:55 like go and try and be all right now my main focus is my YouTube channel where
67:59 I'm going to daily Vlog my like no that's such a sad like spin-off thing I
68:05 see so many people do that like I don't know I I can't I don't know anyone's
68:10 name in particular but it's like and then they make the first video is like
68:13 why I left BuzzFeed or whatever and it's
68:17 like that video will probably do well because people be like oh why did this
68:21 dude leave whatever and then they watch it and then it's like then you can't
68:24 follow that up with like oh this is what I ate this morning
68:29 and yeah oh just no that's never been my
68:32 style come on you guys why I left BuzzFeed SL SourceFed are we going to
68:36 see that video why I left lus Tech tips all caps and then the the thumbnail is
68:41 going to be like me like this like uh some no that's no come on who wants to
68:47 watch that people want a spoof of that yeah you know what somebody else that's
68:51 not a terrible idea somebody else can make that video but know all right so
68:55 it's after 6 and uh the last thing I can do for people who are officially not on
69:01 the clock anymore is keep them here after work hours so the last thing I
69:05 have for you is a final Parting Gift a card well you might not want to read it
69:10 now it is actually a reference letter oh wow you already have a job wow thank you
69:14 very much but I figure you might not last long at it well thank you I'm very much
69:19 appreciate that so I proactively wrote that up for you thank you very much I
69:23 think it calls for an on camera hug L on
69:26 get in here all right it all
69:31 right and that's getting awkward I
69:34 wanted to keep it for just too long it's been a hell of a three years than I
69:39 appreciate that very much thanks guys for tuning in thanks to you for being
69:43 here and uh we will see you guys again next week same bat Time same bat Channel
69:49 thank yall wow
