0:07 welcome to my unboxing and first look at the dlink dwa 182 this is pretty M I
0:14 actually don't know of another one I mean there's media Bridges there's uh
0:20 not a whole lot else but there are not a lot of Wireless AC clients out there yet
0:25 and dlink already has a USB one so very very cool stuff so this is a dual band
0:30 ac200 Next Generation Wi-Fi remember guys this number right here refers to
0:34 how many megabit per second it is theoretically capable of delivering So
0:38 in theory this guy is capable of over a gigabit in terms of raw throughput now
0:42 remember there's overhead involved so you're not going to see that in the real world plus you know distance and speed
0:46 drops and whatever else but that's what it is theoretically maximum capable of
0:51 so there's the speed Superior range dual band so that means 4 point or 2.4 GHz
0:56 and 5 GHz 5 GHz remember is not quite as good for range but is a little bit
0:59 better for speed and there's a lot less interference on that uh frequency versus
1:04 2.4 gz which everything from like old Wireless cordless phones and all kinds
1:07 of other stuff's on there hd3d ready at that kind of speed it better be easy
1:11 setup okay so draft AC compliant n compliant G compliant a compliance so
1:16 it's got lots of different backwards compatibility WPS setup for easy
1:20 configuration this is basically all the same stuff it just told us on the back
1:24 oh they have 24/7 support now I didn't even know that and their packaging is
1:29 printed with with soy
1:34 ink Windows 7 compatible hopefully Windows 8 compatible too let's find out
1:38 what's in here so we've got a quick start sort of start here CD we can
1:42 download the latest off the dlink website got something in like Le France
1:46 oh written offer oh whatever source code thing okay I'm glad we put that on a
1:51 piece of paper uh dual band okay package cont really we open up the package and
1:55 it tells us the package well that's so that we can check and make sure that
1:58 everything's in there but seriously there's your quick start guide and
2:01 finally wow look at this thing this is this is a manly USB adapter important
2:06 install the software from the bundle TD before inserting the adapter they did
2:10 put it on a big yellow sticker so I guess I better make sure that I do that
2:14 although that won't help me the next time when this is in the pile of like
2:17 network adapters and I don't see that warning and then I forget and plug it in
2:22 with you know what I'm going to do this is something I highly recommend you guys
2:26 do for yourself is leave warning labels for yourself on things
2:31 there problem solved no you know what let's just make it not look stupid there
2:35 we go so there's your WPS adapter there's your indicator LED that must be
2:40 a new dlink logo because I've never seen that before there's a more traditional
2:44 dlink logo on the back you got some information including the Mac Address
2:48 and here we have a cardinal sin committed caps that
2:54 don't attach to the back that's that's a shame USB 2
2:58 interface um meaning we'd be limited to 480 megabit
3:02 per second anyway because that's the limit of USB 2 so so if we can get that
3:08 kind of throughput then I guess I'll be then I guess I'll be pleased with it because that's more than a g adapter can
3:12 do anyhow it comes with an extension
3:15 cable so if you don't want to plug it directly into something you want to get
3:18 it up sort of higher away from something then that'll help and it'll look
3:23 something like that oh there we go I
3:27 think that pretty much covers it thank you for checking out my un boxing and
3:30 first look at the dwa1 182 one of the first AC adapters for this new exciting
