So today we're going to be having a look at the G9 and the g9x now I grabbed both
0:07
of these from inventory thinking there might be some difference between them
0:11
now as far as differences go you can see
0:14
that they both have PC USB connection
0:18
they both have laser tracking they both have nine buttons they both have a tilt
0:22
wheel they both have full speed USB adjustable sensitivity weight tuning
0:26
hyperfast scroll and onboard memory they both literally have exactly the same
0:29
bullet points down here the difference as far as I can tell is that this has a
0:35
Next Generation gaming laser featuring
0:38
5600 DPI whereas the old G9 uses an
0:43
older laser with 3200 DPI so we're not
0:46
even going to bother unboxing the G9 because it's exactly the same thing as
0:51
the g9x except for the one small change
0:54
so let me see yeah 3200 and 5700 DPI for the new
1:01
one okay so let's open up the g9x here and get this unboxing show on the road
1:05
now the G9 original is actually my
1:08
second favorite mouse ever I use one at work and if you've seen some of my
1:12
videos you'll see it on my desk there the one complaint I have about it is
1:15
that the middle the the scroll wheel is metal and it often shocks me when I sit
1:19
down at my desk but what can you do uh the ergonomics are great it's kind of a
1:23
hybrid between a claw grip and a palm grip and I find it very very comfortable
1:27
it tracks incredibly well on a variety of surf surfes and I guess that's about
1:32
as much gushing as I really need to do um I don't know if you were able to read
1:36
that while the cameraman was looking at it but there's a durable low friction
1:39
corded braid there's a corded braid braided cord in-game sensitivity DP
1:45
profile okay so these buttons right here you're allowed to switch between four different levels of DPI or sensitivity
1:50
the back and forward buttons are invaluable when you're browsing the
1:54
internet and they are here or here that it comes with two different grips so you
1:57
can either use the wider grip or the narrower grip depending on the size of
2:01
your hands which is a great feature you can have adjustable weight in the mouse
2:05
I use mine fully loaded up but not Everyone likes a heavy Mouse so you can
2:08
lighten it up that way that's pretty much it yeah okay so
2:13
why don't we get the oh dry grip technology this is stupid I again if
2:16
you've seen the one in my blog uh videos the one that's on my desk you can see
2:20
that the grip is totally coming off the mouse and uh the reason for that is
2:24
because they use like this weird like rubberized grippy material that sort of
2:28
peels after a while and looks like your mouse has leprosy um so that I guess
2:33
would be my one complaint about this mouse and I mean that's a fairly minor
2:38
thing in the grand scheme of you know the world but that is my complaint about
2:43
the G9 Mouse and the g9x seems to be more of the same except better so why
2:48
don't we start with the accessory package here let's get this opened up
2:51
first of all it comes with a user's
2:55
guide okay so the wow the user's guide is actually really thick for a mouse it
2:59
seems to have have about 300 different languages uh no four sorry English
3:03
Spanish French and Portuguese of all things then you've got uh the same
3:07
information that we found on the box how to plug in a USB port how to change the
3:12
interchangeable grips how to turn on oh I'll have to show you this after the
3:16
micro gear Precision scroll wheel so you you can actually press a button on the
3:19
bottom of the mouse and then you can either scroll uh without clicks and you
3:24
can just flick it and it'll go for a really long time like if you have hundreds of lines in an Excel
3:28
spreadsheet or you can set it click it again on the bottom of the mouse and you
3:31
can have like clicky clicky line by line scrolling okay tune for the way you play
3:35
oh yeah you can change the color of the LEDs on the top of the mouse the one on my desk is pink but you can change it to
3:40
whatever you want green blue brown uh
3:44
set point 5.2 download the latest off the Logitech website they're always
3:47
updating with new features and stuff like that so you want to make sure you're grabbing the latest copy um yeah
3:53
here they're saying download the latest g9x software blah blah blah so that's
3:56
pretty much what I just said FCC compliance who cares us usage some USB
4:01
hubs oh they're saying this is a high powered Mouse so basically you won't
4:06
necessarily be able to use it in an unpowered USB hub now that brings me to
4:10
some of the Gigabyte boards that we've unboxed and had a look at recently which
4:14
offer their 3x USB power feature so that
4:17
means that if you had a Gigabyte board and you plugged it into a hub it could
4:21
easily run a few of these mice even though you're using an unpowered Hub
4:25
because there's so much more power coming from the USB port so as what was
4:29
talking about with the general ergonomics of the mouse you can see it's quite a comfortable grip the the butt
4:34
end of the mouse so to speak sits in your palm but then you actually grip the
4:38
rest of the mouse with kind of a fingertip grip so that's what I meant by
4:42
saying it's kind of a hybrid between the two and it has a little Groove here for
4:45
these two fingers and then a Groove here for your thumb and the back and forward
4:48
buttons are quite comfortable and easy to reach on the side now at the bottom
4:53
of the mouse this is the micro gear button where you can switch
4:56
between okay can you hear that
5:00
so that's it just spinning and spinning and spinning and then you can switch
5:03
between that and like a more clicky mode
5:07
okay at the bottom you can change the profile I never do that I can't imagine
5:10
why you would these Teflon feed are great uh they've taken forever in a year
5:14
to wear out I'm using it on an aluminum mouse pad so they should be wearing out
5:17
fast but they're doing really well I've had this mouse for yeah like well over a
5:21
year okay and then this button right here there you go is for removing the
5:26
interchangeable grips so here I'm going to show you the other one as well so
5:29
this is the more slim grip I never use this one mine is in like new condition
5:35
um but should you desire to use the Slimmer one you just pop it on like that
5:39
all the buttons are still exactly where you expected them but the ergonomics
5:43
change quite a lot so I mean I guess if you're more fingertip grippy you see it
5:47
no longer makes contact with the Palm for a comfortable grip on the mouse so
5:51
it's a user preference thing but you have to take the uh the tops off
5:55
actually in order to access the spring-loaded weight cartridges so there
5:59
we go and that's another accessory that I haven't shown you yet is the little
6:03
weight box so you can load it up with up to 28 GS or any combination of 4 G and 7
6:10
G weights you can put up to four in it at a time and then you just go in there
6:13
like that and I think that pretty much concludes everything I wanted to say
6:17
about the g9x laser thank you for checking out my unboxing and product
