0:01 you are now streaming live to Twitch you're not we are I mean you could be
0:06 but live from Canada but also push somewhere else so actually from
0:10 somewhere else kind of yeah where are we broadcasting from it's like a fraking
0:16 mystery you know what else is a mystery what is this show even about well we're
0:21 GNA put that mystery down to pasture
0:24 with a bullet right now point bullet
0:28 point there aren't even bullets points on the dock no this is the kind this is
0:33 the kind of lazy crap that I have to deal with around here no
0:37 bullets how are we going to kill this show today with no
0:42 bullets that's a dash that's a dash you
0:46 know what a dash is a speedy substitute
0:49 for a bullet I can't change it I don't know
0:53 how to fix it on Google AMD sees his mental optimization that's topic number
0:58 one today star 's creatively named FPS
1:02 module star Marine is having some issues
1:05 maybe it's
1:09 underwater why would that oh oh
1:15 sorry e you sounded so disappointment it
1:18 made my it made my joy Juices Flow which
1:22 sorry that's not really what I
1:26 meant okay I think most they made me spit out joy juices of this bit actually
1:30 landed on the monitor so it's okay um
1:33 NVIDIA reveals new Warner Brothers knew that Arkham
1:37 night for PC was a mess months ago and didn't do anything about it woo intro
1:42 time yeah I have way too much energy today that's cool where is my intro
1:46 intro why is it not playing intro didn't
1:50 work I don't know this is a bad song we
1:54 can make the intro work if we drag the right thing yeah no no I am determined
1:59 this is try to make the thing work
2:03 but boom it'll work now swamp butt
2:07 clenching hard enough could you clench so hard to
2:13 die would that be possible well is that
2:24 Happ you know the idea behind this whole
2:28 thing was that Ed was going to do like ones all the time we ended up with
2:33 two and aren't they the wrong color no
2:36 no that's fine oh they are now they're right now no oh these outro no no the
2:41 sponsor things are a mess you mean the intro yeah the intros like we were going
2:44 to do like we were going to walk across different Landscapes all the time and it
2:48 just never happened in Ed's defense he's been extremely busy turning lonus Tech
2:53 tips into a fire pretty much not a fire
2:56 I don't even no we are not talking about fire pools today he's been turning
2:59 lineus Tech tips into what a lot of people are considering like worthy of
3:03 being a Bonafide TV show so uh for those of you who have already seen scrapyard
3:08 Wars 2E on vessel and for those of you who are waiting for it on YouTube uh
3:13 honestly overall like considering the
3:17 size of the team we have working on a project like that um yeah we're
3:21 extremely proud of it and uh I hope you guys are are looking forward to or
3:25 enjoyed the uh the final part depending on how that whole thing went yes so this
3:30 was posted by K 7 on the Forum k
3:36 k this link is bogus what is happening
3:40 it's like a Bogus Journey I what is going on with my
3:44 cursor if it doesn't start cursing better I'm going to start cursing I'm
3:48 going to get the link shared in the yeah the link is going to be people on Twitch
3:52 are going to be on that website before you are unless no I'm not logged in so
3:56 you'll win yes never mind geted bro all
4:00 right so uh this is a link to the AMD
4:05 Fury review hopefully there's something about mantle Fury X excuse me something
4:10 something well you know what whatever an on Tech probably talked about it at some
4:14 point so uh we called it I called it you
4:18 probably called it did we collectively call this yeah um AMD has confirmed that
4:25 while they are not outright dropping mantle support that is such a great way
4:29 of putting it it's like we are not outright dropping
4:32 support for oxygen remove it yeah we're not going to remove the oxygen we're
4:38 just not going to replenish it so
4:44 yeah uh they're not dropping mantle support they have simply ceased all
4:48 further mantle optimization um so the mantle driver has
4:53 not been optimized at all for gcn 1.2 is
4:56 that is that equivalent to like our efforts on installing a fire pool
5:00 uh yes we have completely well no it's slightly different in that there was
5:04 never going to be a fire pole uh so the
5:07 mantle driver has not been optimized at all for gcn 1.2 that means R9 Fury X R9
5:13 285 R9 380 and the cizo Apu uh mantle is
5:18 essentially deprecated at this point and while AMD isn't going out of their way
5:22 to break backwards compatibility they aren't going to put resources into
5:25 helping it either mantle was never going to work it
5:31 was a cool idea um I think I even like I
5:35 waffled about this a lot um and I I
5:40 actually you know what what are we look for right now oh
5:44 this is kind of embarrassing I don't remember if I ever made an AMD mantle
5:47 video yes I did so I did make an AMD mantle fast as possible on Tech Quicky
5:54 and you can you can even tell a year ago this many people were interested and 3
5:59 mon months ago this many people gave a crap about directx12 and Vulcan some of
6:04 this is because Techquickie has grown some of this is because mantle never
6:08 really mattered because it was like there was like there was always a list
6:12 of games that were getting support there
6:15 was never games where it actually
6:19 mattered like Battlefield 4 with mantle was just difficult to Benchmark there
6:25 was no benefit it was just unless you play on
6:29 that one uh aircraft carrier mission where everything was breaking and
6:32 sliding to the left then there was a little bit right which in single player
6:37 so mantle was never going to succeed until an actual industry standard
6:43 supported by everything and everyone 12
6:46 um managed to to take that whole concept
6:49 of dramatically improving CPU overhead
6:52 and uh draw call Performance and was
6:56 actually everywhere so that game developers could legit Ely design their
7:00 games for everyone to play because we already run into this where the PC
7:05 doesn't get a game because developers can't justify the additional cost of
7:10 porting it and I mean whether that's due to piracy concerns or whether that's due
7:15 to just being obstinate buttheads you know you look at you look at how much of
7:19 an impact it's had on ubisoft's business over the last few years to actually
7:23 release their games on PC yeah um so
7:27 whatever the reasons you look at how how it sometimes happens that the PC doesn't
7:31 get that's with all PCS included so you
7:35 want to start breaking it down and going oh well you have to do extra work for
7:38 AMD PCS or like you know that's what I think a lot of um software but mainly
7:44 Hardware developers don't understand when they're releasing new things that
7:47 are like oh this is very very gamechanging but you have to use like
7:51 our STK to use a FX
7:55 accelerator yeah even when NVIDIA took the fizx onto the G with their 65 or 70%
8:02 discreet market share they still can't sell that they still can't do it because
8:09 it's not ubiquitous yeah I mean NVIDIA
8:13 has gotten away with some things with uh with with Gameworks for example but that
8:18 involves them handing it finished to the
8:21 game developer basically take this plug
8:24 it into your game it makes it look better on our gpus and theoretically uh
8:28 doesn't harm performance on someone else's GPU especially if you don't turn
8:32 the feature on which I guess is true
8:35 um oh
8:38 interesting uh there is a
8:42 shirt that has been released released
8:45 actually there's a couple of interesting shirt news related items so number one
8:48 is if you got a lonus tech tips # first
8:51 shirt and it was red don't worry you
8:55 probably also got an email unless you didn't get an email in which case I'm telling you now you probably also got
8:59 got an email from Teespring saying that some of the shirts were printed red
9:03 which you already knew because you got a red one right yeah uh so you've probably
9:07 already got a shirt that's red unless you didn't order one in which case you
9:10 won't have gotten any shirts and I sincerely apologize um but Teespring
9:14 will be resending at their own cost properly colored shirts Teespring bro to
9:20 those of you who got red shirts that's cool which is good because I got red
9:24 shirts I ordered I ordered four shirts they're red
9:30 can the CEO of a company wear a shirt
9:34 that's the wrong color I don't think
9:37 so but you know I'd do it anyway but probably yeah be like oh well I've worn
9:42 this one for two weeks time to change it so good guy tpr they are making it
9:47 happen no one is being forced to return the red shirts which is pretty nice um
9:52 and we also have a new shirt to announce today unfortunately it has nothing to do
9:59 with fire PES which is fortunate um it
10:02 kind of does it has nothing to do with
10:05 Fire PS which is UN it has nothing to do with fire P which is nothing to do with
10:10 fire PES a very small amount this my friends you're not logged
10:16 in so this is taking forever yeah um
10:20 well this is weird I'm clicking log in and it's not doing a thing what I don't
10:26 even know the password that is the ultimate in password security did you
10:31 know not knowing it did you know why
10:34 this thing that they're going to figure out very soon actually they'll catch up
10:38 by the time you post it probably uh no I'm not ready to post it quite yet I'm
10:42 doing a straw pull first are you going to buy this shirt yes
10:48 no the usual option that everybody loves
10:53 so very much so this my friends is the
10:58 new shirt design it is on teespring.com
11:03 vote for nice turnip and the straw pull
11:08 my friends apparently this is only a 10day campaign Mr Mr Nick light is
11:16 getting aggressive about his campaign periods that's intense that is intense
11:21 that is not a lot of time to decide to
11:24 uh to buy one did we sell seven in the time that we've been
11:29 sitting here refresh showing it to
11:33 people maybe I have no idea no wait no it doesn't say apparently we only set a
11:37 reserve of three so who is planning to
11:42 buy this shirt reserve of three we have
11:45 a massive 63% of you saying
11:49 turnip with 28% of you saying
11:52 no and only 10% of you saying yes
11:55 apparently Nick light would like to join us on the W show
12:01 hello caller you're on the W show hey um it's not actually no caller caller
12:05 you're caller I'm afraid your belligerent tone is simply not going to
12:08 work for this show can you uh can you just compose yourself and call us back
12:13 once you are more calm
12:20 sir okay sir I'm afraid these comments about my mother are simply not going to
12:24 be
12:27 tolerated sorry you can you can talk now it's okay am I am I on speaker or what
12:32 you are totally on speaker okay um the
12:35 the campaign's not actually 10 days it just wouldn't let me set a higher amount
12:39 it's going to be like 20 something 24 days probably um I've already emailed
12:43 our rep so he's going to extend it when he can um but yeah no it's it's up there
12:49 unfortunately four F wouldn't work so I had to use a four sorry well you
12:55 wouldn't be the first person to take that shortcut yeah exactly okay anyway that's
12:59 all I had to say it's not actually a 10day campaign it's longer okay thank
13:03 you okay bye enjoy your day off okay bye
13:07 oh no oh you missed him you didn't get a buy uh what is he talking about four uh
13:12 oh the uh is it printed on there with a four the link is vote for turnup which
13:18 in my mind is really not that big of a deal that's fine so uh just click it
13:23 anyways yeah the reason why this has a little bit to do with a firep it has
13:27 nothing if you go go to firepole doco
13:31 shut up is there did you create this I
13:34 did not actually I'll go to firepole doco I will I didn't do it I will take
13:39 the bait and I will go to fire Poole do.
13:42 Co no whoa no
13:48 LL fire pole yeah I see yeah there you
13:54 go the fire pole straw pole pole
13:59 yes should lonus install a fire pole yes no
14:02 turnip and we are getting a massive 77%
14:07 voting for yes okay okay okay okay all
14:11 right we have to address it at some point the fire pole is very funny it's
14:15 amusing would I enjoy a fire pole yes in
14:19 fact before Luke trolled the crap out of
14:23 everyone on the entire internet by with
14:26 his BS about fire Poes in the new office
14:29 Vlog before that happened I actually created like an MS paint drawing of the
14:34 new office that did include among other
14:37 things a fire Poole it is a joke that I
14:41 personally heartily enjoy but I will I
14:44 am going to educate you guys about some business realities we're not
14:51 firefighters we don't need a fire pole
14:55 arguably firefighters don't need fire Poes right so if they don't need them
14:59 then we definitely don't need them thank you for feeding into my point also fire
15:04 Poes come with a not insignificant liability concern nah can you imagine
15:11 can you imagine the look on the workers's compensation you know agent's
15:16 face when you know Taran has a repetitive strain injury due to
15:22 repeatedly going down the fire pole and they ask him what exactly does
15:28 descending a have to do with your daily work
15:31 activities as a video editor to which he would have no reply he would receive no
15:36 compensation and he would be poor with a broken wrist is that what you want if we
15:41 pointed a camera at it could be could it be a super fun
15:47 prop tell you what if nobody ever rides it not
15:57 once I will consider putting it in okay but if anyone rides
16:02 it I will remove it could you resist or is it just better
16:08 for us to say it wasn't meant to be so if we don't point a camera at it I I
16:14 think as an alternative you should enroll Luke in some pole dancing classes
16:18 yes I think that's our new
16:23 Strength I'm not even kidding Luke pole
16:26 dancing lessons it's for
16:30 turnip whatever man super fun that could
16:33 actually be a very excellent super fun LMG P dancing lessons I'll film for that
16:40 one I volunteer ble volunteers to film
16:43 the hell you will you're participating smart guy I'm on to you I think you'd
16:48 actually do the best you think I would do the best in pull dancing I think your
16:52 weight to strength ratio is probably pretty good you know what I look a lot
16:55 stronger than I am yeah but like my left ARM is weak the Nicks and I aren't going
17:00 to be able to right you guys are pretty topheavy yeah so uh Luke P dancing
17:05 lessons we've got a massive 81% voting
17:08 for yes if you're paying for it like I'm not going to say
17:11 no so what else does that apply to you
17:15 know that God should we do some actual
17:18 topics we've been on the air for 20 minutes
17:23 no okay
17:27 question are you you on the air if your
17:30 entire broadcast Wi-Fi is over
17:35 Wi-Fi so you're on someone's air yeah
17:38 but it's not the air but the the broadcasting
17:43 station it goes straight to air but the mic would go through a
17:48 cable so you're saying the air between the microphone and my mouth qualifies as
17:53 air everything has a cable at some point
17:56 everything has a cable at some point internally Poss possibly I could show
17:59 you something that doesn't have a cable wow actually my belt okay no cable well
18:07 that's possibly true but what about thread fibers thread fibers you know H
18:13 okay so we actually did a fast as possible on wires versus um cables wires
18:20 versus cables I think so I think so yes we did that no so a thread is too small
18:27 because a cable the uh the size of it
18:30 the girth of it is
18:36 implied okay um okay so Sony launches FirstLight
18:43 crowdfunding site which basically appears to be a way for Sony to get
18:48 funding for new products because they're out of money it's only in Japan the
18:53 website design is horrible op here is a good bites let's go ahead I'll uh have
18:58 you dropped this in I'm moving on it I'm going to I'm going
19:01 to pull this up on bitte here so I'm going to link this in chat but you guys
19:05 need to Google Translate it so just a heads up so first flight's initial
19:10 campaign is for a customizable remote control based on a low power
19:15 electrophoretic Electro electrooptic excuse me I misread that eaper display
19:21 similar to the harmony family except probably not functional at all because
19:26 even Logitech couldn't figure out a multifunction remote mode on their own
19:29 and acquired harmony with their years and years of expertise knowing Sony
19:34 it'll work with you know your Sony TV and your Sony receiver and your Sony
19:38 Discman and your PlayStation that you definitely have all of like the
19:42 compatible ecosystem products for okay no it's probably could use the remote to
19:46 use your cell phone which should just be the remote anyways prob it's probably
19:50 meant to be Universal but and to be clear universal remotes have gotten a
19:54 lot better in recent years with even some phone apps uh being pretty darn
19:58 impressive so um yeah I mean this to me is even more
20:06 reprehensible than reprehensible no I I
20:09 think it's the right word because like an indie product developer like uh
20:14 someone like a pebble and I'm not talking the most recent Pebble campaign
20:18 I'm talking when they were actually a small company um you know getting
20:21 crowdfunding and not contributing Equity
20:24 back to the investors funders um you you kind of get
20:29 it kind of this is like a multinational
20:35 corporation yeah not giving Equity back
20:38 to crowdfunders yeah so Whois remote
20:47 um I don't know it's kind of weird it's only in Japan that's something that we
20:51 have to remember so yeah Japan exclusive right now like apparently there's zero
20:54 plans yeah no plans to launch elsewhere at all so it's not really that important
20:59 it's just interesting that a large company went this route it's I guess
21:03 it's not the strangest thing that's ever happened in Japan no definitely not
21:08 definitely not or even at Sony
21:11 really um so oh we didn't actually
21:15 published the uh the Youtube announce I saw you like kind of looking at it I
21:19 couldn't tell if it was public or not I thought it was public but that's okay
21:22 because you the 2,800 people here now
21:25 you guys are the real MVPs yeah yeah
21:29 yeah most valuable and now that those
21:32 other people are showing up you're the MVP Everyone's an MVP most valuable
21:36 Everyone's an MVP we actually appreciate everyone who who views our content I've
21:41 had a lot of people ask me like for something like wow where it's available
21:46 a lot of different ways you can watch live on Twitch you can watch the archive
21:50 on YouTube you can listen on sound which most people don't know about we need to
21:54 talk about that more yeah which most people don't know about in fact it's the funniest thing isn't there still like an
22:00 unofficial thread in the Forum where people are uploading audio versions of
22:03 the wow podcast prob get more downloads than the SoundCloud yeah so every single
22:08 W show when it's archived on YouTube has a link to SoundCloud under it if you
22:12 just want to and and I enable download rights for all of them so you can just
22:15 download them and listen to them at your leisure so a lot of people ask me what's
22:18 the best way to support you guys to watch uh quite frankly I think the most
22:23 profitable is on Twitch I'm actually not
22:26 sure I I actually don't I don't know you get anything from twitch yeah I think so
22:31 well we don't specifically run ads so it's not a ton but I'm pretty sure the
22:35 ad that people get when they tune in because we don't do like mid roll ads or
22:38 anything yeah yeah so I'm pretty sure twitch is the the do we collect that I
22:43 don't know I don't think so finances
22:47 we're not a partner we don't have a sub button or chat emot we we are a
22:51 part well no I'm pretty sure because when I
22:55 asked for partnership for my channel which is still in limbo because the new
22:59 office isn't built yet reasons um he was
23:03 like I can give you all the partner stuff because all the thing the only
23:06 reason why I really wanted it was quality control right um he's like I can
23:11 give you like this sweet of things or this sweet of things or this sweet of
23:14 things and I was like I'll just whatever I'll just take all of it but we don't
23:18 have any of it right we used to get checks well do we
23:22 have do we have quality control I think we do I don't
23:26 know I don't know this computer is so slow oh my God I I don't know but it
23:32 says medium so I think maybe okay so so at any rate uh I don't know but the
23:37 point is we just want you guys to watch everyone's the MVP we love it when you
23:41 guys watch that's me digging myself out of the hole where I position some of our
23:45 viewers as more important than others because that is not the case we love all
23:49 of our viewers equally like children secretly all parents love some
23:53 of their children more they just won't talk about it you're a parent now which
23:57 one is it I can't talk about
24:01 it all right so NVIDIA unveils plans for
24:06 GTX 950 series range of gpus so original
24:11 article here is from kit guru.net let's
24:14 go ahead and pop this baby up um and I think this is rumor at this
24:19 point exact specifications for the GTX 950 and 950 TI or Thai as the cool kids
24:27 call it are unknown but it's uh highly likely that oh wow this is like this is
24:31 some super rumor stuff going on here it's likely they will have more than 640
24:36 but less than 1,24 stream
24:41 processors huge gap so yeah um so basically so yeah it's
24:50 funny because basically what they've done is they've created a chart yeah
24:54 this is brutal 960 and like the old 750
24:57 Ti 750 that they'd be replacing and they kind yeah probably somewhere in there
25:02 good guess uh yes probably somewhere in there uh it's safe to say that they'll
25:06 be somewhere in the sort of 150 or lower range and they will deliver up-to-date
25:10 features like DirectX 12.1 not that you'll be really enjoying any of the you
25:15 know Uber rendering features of directex 12.1 on a low-end first of a generation
25:20 of directex capable cards anyway um one
25:24 of my favorite parts of that post on kitguru was at the very bottom where it
25:28 was was like NVIDIA did not comment on this news story it's like the headline
25:32 is NVIDIA preps lowcost Graphics maybe and then whoever star
25:38 coaster that is a misleading headline that you posted online as Tech tips.com
25:43 NVIDIA unveiled nothing got us um so
25:46 it's going to feature h265 encoding and decoding fully compatible with htcp 2.2
25:51 content protection over HDMI 2.0 and
25:54 yeah so it'll be like better than the old things proportionally according to
25:59 how much better Maxwell Replacements were for the other old things in all
26:03 likelihood and power efficient in case you were concerned about that um
26:08 speaking of power efficient uh we've got a couple cool videos coming out this
26:11 week uh Fury X versus 980 TI in the
26:17 sg13 um so it's a small form factor case
26:20 we learned a bunch of really cool stuff so number one is that open test benching
26:27 I think our I think its days are over I think we're going to have to switch to
26:31 inase test benching because the results
26:35 the prevailing results out there for Fury X versus 980ti do not necessarily
26:40 align with the results that I get in a closed a more enclosed environment and
26:45 yes did you use the working furx this time I did okay a small form factor case
26:50 is not the be all and end all of computers a lot of people have big towers where an aircooled card will will
26:56 do better but now that GPU boost and whatever AMD
27:01 calls their turboing are such a key part
27:04 of the performance of a graphics card the actual system the card is installed
27:09 in becomes a major factor speaking of
27:12 systems we're actually getting a system for review for the first
27:17 time digital storm is sending us a bolt three oh cool so we're going to be able
27:22 to evaluate what I consider to be one of the coolest pre-builts out there because
27:27 it's legitimately from what people can build by themselves I mean the
27:31 differentiating factor is predominantly the cas of course but that's always
27:35 surprisingly case oh great a problem with the case case
27:41 needed to test graphics cards thing is
27:45 uh we're going to have to pick mediums and you're probably going to have to do more than one case yep cuz like that
27:51 little Silverstone case is going to perform much differently than it will
27:54 some other one so I don't actually have a clear answer as to how we'll do that
27:58 we might like we might just have to go okay everyone who's a gamer has a
28:04 fractal Arc mid2 and um that's how it's going to be
28:10 deal with it you know
28:15 sunglasses Boop that actually pretty good I was
28:21 watching it in here so I can see it properly that was fantastic um so we'll
28:24 have to figure out a strategy but I can say it was an unexpected result and then
28:28 I have another really cool one coming that really threw me for a loop I used a
28:32 high-speed camera to take our highest end g-sync monitor our 144 HZ Rog Swift
28:37 and our highest end free sync monitor our
28:40 xl2730z from Ben q and a fury X versus a
28:44 980ti and I used a high-speed camera to
28:48 detect the latency between clicking the mouse and a muzzle flash in the
28:53 animation of Crisis 3 and the results
28:56 raised more questions than they answered
28:59 but that's all I can say about it for now because uh that's all I can say
29:03 about it for now you'll have to watch the
29:06 video Yeah stop asking no one's asking anything nobody Lally because they
29:11 haven't seen it yet probably uh next uh Nexus posted this on the Forum
29:17 I've already uh posted the link don't worry about it um I realized it's
29:21 actually pretty fast for me to just do that on my way to pasting it into the
29:25 browser it is actually it's okay but sometimes I forget which is why it's
29:29 good to have you here and it's smoother that so the Star Citizen FPS module is
29:33 delayed for the foreseeable future wow that is two video ads above the
29:38 fold on one page for the same thing if you don't want to see it in WID screen
29:43 you can see it in a a little box I finally saw that uh that movie I wanted
29:47 to see um Avengers Age of Ultron okay is
29:52 that what it's called yeah AV yes I enjoyed it it was far superior to
29:57 Fury far superior to Fury burkel doesn't
30:01 even watch Marvel movies whoa yeah he's
30:04 like oh I am Burl I am a snob I do not
30:08 watch Marvel movies you know what I really enjoyed surprisingly really
30:12 enjoyed was Kingsman haven't seen Kings man Kingsman yeah it's it's ridiculous
30:18 the whole movie is just ridiculous I would probably enjoy it
30:21 sounds like my kind of thing I was talking to Brandon about it and trying to describe it and he was just very
30:26 confused and I was like just watch it and it was in the plane and he burst out
30:29 laughing many times on the plane just absolutely ridiculous anyways moving on
30:34 so it's delayed they showed it off at a like backers press event thing at I
30:38 believe PS East in April yeah they demonstrated the module there the
30:43 problem isn't that the module isn't working very well because it was
30:46 actually working fairly well at the event which is one hell of a thing if
30:51 you know how events usually go but the problem is networking back
30:56 ends so they have about 15% of the team
31:00 working on Star Marine right now it's been a pretty major Focus because it's
31:03 their next public release but the networking backend is throwing a kind of
31:07 wrench in thing so there's no like
31:10 release date now which kind of sucks but I don't
31:15 really care when does networking not throw a
31:19 wrench in things that's true but like I just I just yeah personally I'm okay
31:26 with my money being like reserved away for now I just want them to finish the
31:29 whole thing and then I'll get really excited in like 3 years four years yeah
31:37 and you know what that a game like that is going to be constantly evolving too
31:40 so you can probably kind of jump in at any time and there's going to be like
31:43 really cool new and interesting stuff to do yep um I wonder how the vote for
31:47 turnup shirt is doing this is one of those things where we just kind of like
31:51 we kind of put it together because you guys were like yeah we want to vote for
31:55 turnup shirt apparently 16 people have vote for turnup swag on order already I
32:01 want to vote for turnup shirt I'm I'm getting one I always buy them though I
32:04 mean like if I don't if I don't consider it good enough to buy then we probably
32:09 shouldn't release should yeah should it be on the store it's a pretty good
32:13 metric I guess it's like you know what that one's
32:17 kind of crap it's okay for the plebs you
32:20 know out there watching the show but me no man if you if you like run Ford but
32:24 then refuse to drive a Ford it's like hm
32:28 maybe not good yes exactly speaking
32:32 about maybe not good Warner Brothers oh
32:35 what do you mean maybe what is maybe oh
32:39 hold on can I jump in really quickly here on the subject of networking being
32:43 a like gigantic load of poo um if there
32:47 is anyone who has actually managed to
32:52 get SMB 3.0 multi-channel working and I
32:57 mean working like bonding together network interfaces like like taking a
33:02 quad gigabit Nick and a quad gigabit Nick and then a dumb switch and having
33:08 that transfer at 4 gabit speeds on a single file transfer in theory it does
33:13 that as far as I can tell it is a gigantic load of because I have
33:18 done everything fresh Windows 8.1
33:22 installs fresh Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 fresh two ser 2012 r2s I have
33:29 tried uh link aggregation lacp I have
33:33 tried different modes of Link aggregation I have tried configuring the
33:37 Nick teaming from within the Intel driver I have tried configuring the Nick
33:40 teaming from within Windows Server 2012 r2's control center panel enable this
33:46 role and feature on the server it doesn't work I have found blog posts
33:51 from people who say it works but I have
33:54 never actually seen it work in theory
33:58 it just works no configuration no LCP no
34:01 smart switches no nothing in practice it
34:05 doesn't appear to do anything I even gotten as far as through Powershell
34:09 verifying that the SMB link is 3.02
34:13 between two Server 2012 R2 machines number of links open one number of links
34:18 that are always open one it's supposed to have multiple links
34:22 so if anyone's ever actually gotten it working and has some Pro tips I'm more
34:25 than happy to hear about them uh post on the Forum would be the best way to do
34:29 that it's down it's down it's down forum's down I know do it later um okay
34:36 so let's go ahead and move on to our next topic right Warner Brothers knew
34:40 that Arkham Knight PC was a mess months ago I'm going is not down yes yeah so
34:47 never mind so there's that so for the other like you know 150,000 people that
34:51 are going to watch then it's not you'll be fine yay you guys are MVPs too man
34:56 that's what I said so War
34:59 butts heyo yeah I remember when you used to
35:04 high five me and touch me without wiping your hands first you
35:08 learned I always used to like but you used to be a lot sweatier
35:20 yeah okay I'm sorry I'm sorry D you're toping anyways uh Warner Brother someone
35:26 there's a quote here but it doesn't say from who those are the best quotes
35:31 says I will say it's pretty rich for Warner Brothers to act like they had no
35:35 idea the game was in such a horrible State oh said one quality assurance
35:39 tester we don't know who exactly that sounds like a super
35:43 reliable quote who worked on the game for years apparently it's been like this
35:46 for months and all the problems we see now were exact were the exact same
35:51 unchanged almost a year ago
35:57 I guess do we even need to say anything else no yeah we do because because this
36:02 isn't news no that's my point
36:06 yeah obviously I mean you know the the
36:09 funny thing is is the online you know the bloggers and and even guys like us
36:13 will go how could they quality control blah blah it has nothing to do with
36:18 quality control it's not the devs we've talked about that a lot before like the
36:21 Ubisoft devs probably great not their
36:25 call to do a lot of the stuff that happens
36:28 so yeah I mean you you you I mean unless
36:32 you're like unless you're like sneaking into the office to like fix bugs on your
36:37 own time you have to do what the person writing your paycheck tells you to do
36:42 and honestly knowing some people in the gaming industry they do that they don't
36:46 sneak in but like they they fix stuff on their own time a lot of the guys do and
36:51 it's still not enough so I mean do we
36:54 need like a like a summary of like how utterly broken it is the good news is
36:58 that knows the good news is that Warner Brothers is paying for their sins uh
37:03 they are cuz they got wrecked they it is
37:07 costing them the steam fee every time you refund it which is great um steam's
37:13 refund statement is we want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing
37:16 performance issues with Batman Arkham Knight on PC we take these issues very
37:20 seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales with the PC
37:23 version of course we talked about that before um it is unclear in spite of the
37:28 minor patch that addressed some crashing bugs introduced rain effects and fixed a
37:31 few other issues is unclear when it will go on sale again here's something I want
37:36 to know after Batman Arkham hold on is
37:40 Arkham Asylum Arkham City Arkham Origins
37:44 after Origins why was anyone even buying this
37:48 game especially pre-ordering it like really I didn't even I I think I got
37:53 like 25% of the way through origins and I was just like who the hell are all
37:57 these people yeah yeah like really like the big twist
38:03 at the end is that it's the The Joker I mean I would say spoiler alert
38:08 but I how is that a spoiler it's like
38:12 the most obvious thing ever it's like a bunch of non-name nonsense it's like
38:17 stupid was stupid I enjoyed Arkham Asylum a lot he did I loved Arkham
38:22 Asylum I even enjoyed Arkham City I think because partly because I left a
38:27 lot of time in between playing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City so so it felt
38:31 more new I guess yeah I didn't play it right at release so I I had kind of
38:35 forgotten that Arkham Asylum was the same damn game yeah but then I played
38:39 Arkham Origins right away afterward cuz
38:42 I was like right I bought Arkham Origins and then I was like oh I should really
38:46 play Arkham City and then I played those two back to back at least the part of
38:50 Origins that I played and I was just like do I you know what maybe I should
38:55 just replay Asylum
39:00 because you know what that linear Corridor style gameplay works really
39:03 well for Batman and you know I I I've legitimately thought about just replaying Assassin's Creed 2 before when
39:09 Unity came out and I was like this is such trash and I was like I need an Assassin's Creed fix I was like I could
39:13 just install two in brotherhoods in Ascension okay at risk of going on
39:18 another tie rate about how rubbish Final Fantasy 7 is compared to six um I have
39:23 actually done this when I forget which
39:26 Final Fantasy it was but it was really stupid and basically I put it down after
39:31 like a few hours fortunately I borrowed it from someone I did not buy it um and
39:36 I replayed the entirety of Final Fantasy 6 cuz I was just like nope nope I am
39:42 going to damn it I'm going to have a good Final Fantasy experience
39:46 today I'm not in one sitting obviously it's a pretty long game but uh that's
39:50 awesome I I finished the Starcraft 2
39:53 campaign and was like really really frustrated with the end this wings of
39:57 Liberty yeah okay it's like good enough campaign you like RTS campaigns too so
40:02 you get it it's it's a good enough campaign and then the very last
40:06 cinematic I was very frustrated with so I was like screw this went back and
40:09 played the Warcraft 3 campaign the Warcraft 3 campaign is great I love it
40:14 it is so great it's really good yeah like oh Ben yeah it's it's really good
40:20 like you actually I'm more invested in in in like the characters of Warcraft 3
40:25 in some cases than I am in some TV shows and movies like you know watching him
40:30 turn from like you know the Paladin into
40:33 like the L night or whatever nonsense I
40:36 don't even remember the character classes or whatever rexar is bad all
40:39 that stuff and like uh whatever they all it's been a long time since I played it
40:43 but that that Elder Taran guy yeah uh
40:47 crap his name is it is it BL blood hoof
40:51 yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah he's awesome I love all those guys
40:55 those are just so good at that actually have we heard anything about what's that
40:59 uh what's that team based FPS that they've got going on something lock or
41:03 something over overlooked over Overwatch OverWatch yeah has there been any news
41:07 on that lately I think so yeah nothing major I think it's just been like oh
41:11 here's a new character or here's some
41:15 footage of people fighting on a map or something I don't think there's been anything huge beta confirmed for this
41:19 fall okay so yeah I'm I'm I'm gonna play it because like me too I I take a lot of
41:23 flack for not being a real gamer from people um I actually played like shed
41:28 loads of TF2 like hundreds of hours of Team Fortress 2 that's why I'm
41:33 interested in this and and but I'm done with Team Fortress 2 because it's free
41:37 to play Oh is OverWatch free to play probably oh okay well whatever uh anyway
41:42 you know seem be Blizzard's directions this is going to be like me being like a
41:46 snobby elitist well you know I paid for
41:49 The Orange Box so you know all these like trash freet to-play players it's
41:54 it's not about that it's about that it
41:57 really did change the dynamic when valve
42:00 got focused on selling hats as opposed to selling copies of a game for $59.99
42:06 it it really does change the game in a big way and there's reasons that some
42:12 valve games even ones that have free to-play aspects like say for example oh
42:16 I don't know gun skins or knife skins uh like csgo remain paid titles having that
42:22 pay barrier in place actually does keep
42:26 out some of the riff ra and I don't mean Riff Raff like people who can't afford
42:29 the game I me I mean Riff Raff like people who are buying multiple copies of
42:35 the game in order to dink with it or or
42:38 hack or just basically like not care
42:41 investing in being part of a community ultimately does tend to result in a more
42:47 invested Community member that's yeah I generally prefer paid games especially
42:52 paid MMOs freeto playay MMOs are just garbage
42:57 garbage in my opinion yes this is all I
43:00 am i o i our ho o i o ho o in our
43:05 opinion Yeah in our opinion we're basically one person as far as we can
43:10 tell I split off at some point that's why he's much larger than me yeah except
43:15 I'm older than you how does that work you must have may I split off and I took
43:19 too much matter no you were in an embryonic stage at the beginning or
43:22 something cuz you're cuz like your age doesn't start until you're born so maybe
43:26 it was pre-birth M but if we share a
43:29 mother then why is our hair color different it's not much different it
43:33 shouldn't yeah it's pretty different you're pretty blonde You' got kind of that Platinum nonsense that chicks dig
43:37 going on mine bleaches in the summer though yeah mine too but not clearly not
43:42 either that or have do you have gel in I do I don't you don't okay that could be
43:50 arranged something about marry reference
43:54 yes great work uh okay so um R9 Fury X
44:01 sound issues some people have reported
44:04 whiny pumps and PC per went as far as to
44:08 acquire I think two retail R9 Fury X's
44:12 uh this was posted on the Forum by Big stuns St and it has basically been
44:18 determined uh no I did not thank you it has basically been determined that while
44:24 AMD did tell some reviewers uh not us
44:28 that the pump whining issue that some reviewers were en counting like kind of
44:32 a high-pitched wine that you get with some cheaper pumps we had our power
44:35 supply wine but not our pump yeah and you know what the other power supplies
44:38 that I've tried it on since didn't wine so that was interesting um so our pump
44:43 didn't wind so we never really asked about it but they were told oh it's
44:46 fixed and the retail units will be fixed but PC per actually got retail units
44:54 that were whiny but some uh some
44:59 enterprising you know online community members have gone ahead and uh and and
45:05 started taking the front plates off of their Fury X's to reveal that there are
45:10 indeed two pump R Visions one with a shiny Cooler Master logo and one with a
45:14 colorful Cooler Master logo the shiny one is the new one um so if you have the
45:20 shiny you can actually check if you have the whiny pump version or the non- whiny
45:24 pump version by checking under that shroud that can
45:27 and this is something we didn't mention in our Fury x video because I complely
45:31 missed it um and I guess you did too since you hosted that video but AMD is
45:36 apparently providing the um like the the models for that front plate so you can
45:40 3D print your own like customized ones I don't that's think they told us yeah
45:46 that's pretty cool hey yeah yeah I would have liked to have called that out yeah
45:49 cuz I mean embracing the modding Community is like thumbs up from us we
45:53 love that stuff yeah um so so anyway yeah the pump wine
45:58 to be clear is nothing to do with whether the card is hey hey Ed's doing
46:02 the garbage don't forget to remind next next week's person who's that I think
46:06 it's Brandon yeah it's an order of higher date mostly except you're first
46:10 for some reason because I didn't want to make you first cuz I didn't want to like
46:14 cuz I made the schedule so I didn't want to be like ha you have to do it today so
46:17 I moved that and then everything else is there are so many things that I do just
46:20 in order of seniority more so that I just don't forget people than anything
46:24 else did you ever clean the bathroom I didn't you didn't why no I'm just
46:30 wondering I I will I well look at it this way realistically when we move out
46:35 who's going to be the one St cleaning the bathroom so at some point I will
46:38 clean it um maybe he might be asking because
46:42 there's technically no punishment if I don't clean the bathroom for someone to
46:46 miss I thought about it and then I took the garbage out
46:50 anyways uh so anyway the whining is
46:54 regardless of whether the card is underload or not underload and it's
46:57 actually something that even when I started hearing about it I didn't really
47:00 think anything of because most cheap pumps and when I say cheap I don't mean
47:05 like H it's cheap it will fail tomorrow I mean like when you're building a
47:09 custom water cooling Loop you're spending $100 on your pump an all-in-one
47:13 water cooler with a block a radiator a Pump tubing and like mounting hardware
47:18 and a fan is like less than $100 so let's just put it in perspective a cheap
47:23 pump is going to tend to have some noise whatever the silence enus
47:27 out there might think about it um so I didn't really think anything of it but
47:31 some people have been saying that apparently it's quite obnoxious whereas
47:34 our FX I could barely even notice it over like an air CPU Cooler for example
47:39 so and like I'm pretty picky you know this any of you who have ever seen my
47:43 rig in person and been like
47:47 what uh will probably know this so there
47:51 you go um uh someone in chat just asked if
47:56 we can see the chat no we cannot no um I
48:00 can look at it now it's a bunch of stuff about fire PES why am I even looking at
48:03 this nope nope you're
48:07 fired pull oh snap being fire pulled
48:12 would actually really hurt a lot fire pulled it's a large amount of metal like
48:17 someone hit you imp oh or impaled you with it impaled would hurt sort of
48:21 regardless of what it was with Y I mean unless it was not too long
48:28 wow well if it's a fire pull it's pretty did you know that
48:32 impalement is actually like like the death process is from your own body
48:39 weight no yeah yeah it's actually like
48:43 much wor like like impale can be used simply to describe like stabbing like
48:47 skewering but impalement like the execution when you're like dropped on it
48:51 is when no you're not dropped you're more placed oh right and then you like
48:55 yeah and then you you slide so the more you squirm the faster you die kind of
48:59 thing so that's sort of a gross fact that's
49:02 unfortunate maybe a factoid did you know that a factoid is an untrue fact really
49:08 yeah what this one I'll this one I'll
49:11 prove because most people don't know that factoid
49:15 definition a factoid a brief or trivial item of news or information an
49:20 assumption or speculation that is reported and repeated so often that becomes accepted as
49:24 fact wow interesting hey that becomes accepted as fact
49:33 yikes yeah kind of like that did you
49:36 know 90% of all statistics are made up on the spot or whatever thing you know
49:40 what my favorite Twitter account is which one stats Canada stats Canada it's
49:44 a fake account and it's hilarious they just released random fake statistics
49:49 about Canada and it's so funny while you
49:52 look up a real thing I'm going to look up that speaking of which we have a new
49:56 at real Canadian so our our hire from
49:59 the US is like getting his car
50:02 registration changed over today he's got his work permit I think he's planning to
50:07 start next week but he's not technically a Canadian yet no I don't think he has
50:12 citizenship he has a work permit but then once you're working in Canada for a
50:15 long time the process of applying for citizen BEC much easier becomes pretty
50:19 straightforward yeah um speaking of waiting lists this was posted by Jos on
50:23 the Forum there is now a waiting list for ipv4 addresses the end is nigh we
50:30 actually did a fastest Possible episode on ipv4 versus IPv6 and how IPv6 is
50:37 basically going to be enough for everyone in their dog to have hundreds
50:40 of thousands of IP addresses uh whereas ipv4 with the internet of things and
50:45 with all the houses being connected and businesses needing all these IP
50:49 addresses and websites and blah data centers and blah blah blah blah blah
50:53 ipv4 we are like straight up out of
50:56 addresses there are apparently only about 150,000 ipv4 addresses left in the
51:01 pool at Aaron one of five pools left worldwide so Aaron is the American
51:05 registry for internet numbers so they actually had to tell an applicant for a
51:09 new internet address to wait Holy balls now to be clear they are
51:14 reused constantly so it's not like like you you churn and burn through them or
51:19 anything like you know when you when your IP address changes with from your
51:23 ISP like your your external IP address you can have not as many as you want on
51:27 your local network but sort of as many as you want if you're a network admin
51:31 and you're super smart about it um
51:34 like okay the point is going down a weird tunnel here sir yeah don't worry
51:38 about worry about that tunnel yes you can assign
51:45 192.168.0 Point whatevers to your heart's content behind your your outward
51:50 facing uh IP address but that one can be
51:54 reassigned and recycled by your internet service provider so when you're done
51:57 with it they might pass it along to Jeff down the street or or whatever the case
52:01 may be a Jeff so um blah blah blah
52:06 so yeah so some of the ones that have
52:09 been assigned may get returned if an address holder goes out of business or
52:12 fails to pay its dues and there will be a few more distributions from a global
52:16 pool run by I can but for now getting weight listed is mostly a problem for
52:20 bigger entities but it is definitely a
52:23 thing interesting so I P V6 which has
52:28 some very um unfortunate compatibility
52:32 implications for older Network hardware and there's going to be some Hardware
52:35 upgrades there there there will be and they but they've been rolling out fv6
52:40 stuff for a really long time of course it will be a absolute crap storm yes but
52:45 they've been working on this for a really long time like it's been in
52:49 progress and like I mean okay it's like the uh we just shot a fast as possible
52:54 about um Wi-Fi security and like the the number of Articles
53:00 while I was researching and the the amount of facts that there is behind people
53:05 still using WP and
53:08 WPA encrypted passwords on their Wi-Fi access points is is obscene especially
53:14 when you consider that it has been by law you've had to have WPA2 support on
53:19 anything with a Wi-Fi sticker on it since 2006 for like 9 years I mean who
53:24 is actually using a computer from years ago when did wrt54 GS come out oh wow I
53:30 don't know I I'm pretty sure it supports WPA
53:36 to of course there's a Wikipedia article look specific R the GL is the kind of
53:42 the important one here this guy 1.3
53:46 yeah um doesn't have a date wow thanks
53:50 for that Wikipedia wow you're useless yeah useless pedia horrible I'm going to
53:56 to ignore your donation request even harder next time more than 20 I actually
54:01 donated last time to be clear I love Wikipedia I think what they do is
54:04 December of 2002 was the WRT54G well there you go so it's
54:09 probably a whole bunch of those great to be completely honest I
54:15 wouldn't be surprised at all oh my goodness speaking of things to
54:20 not be surprised about the W show has
54:23 sponsors yeah so our sponsor today are
54:28 linda.com CRF Linda what is going on
54:31 with the freaking doc here
54:35 it what the heck are you look the whole
54:39 thing shifted over I know there's no scroll bar I don't understand the things
54:43 that I'm seeing I am going to open a new tab never seen that before lonus is
54:47 solution to everything open a new
54:50 tab that my friends is why I have so
54:54 many browser tabs God it's like quick

55:03 millions of people worldwide okay now I told you that you were going to have to
55:06 have your mom's site on linda.com by the time we did our next spot but I wasn't
55:09 expecting it to be the following week did I say Linda right that makes no
55:13 sense linda.com can teach you to make a website that's true it can in fact it
55:17 can teach you many of the skills that you'll need to uh to um to to work on
55:22 your Squarespace website okay let's talk about linda.com so they've got more than 3,000 courses available with topics like
55:28 web development uh photography visual design
55:31 and business they also do software training like Excel and WordPress
55:35 Photoshop um now the thing about linda.com is it's not just for you young
55:39 techsavvy kids it can be for people like your parents if they're looking to
55:44 become young techsavvy kidss and they've given up on the young part and kids part
55:47 because they're your parents they can't be kids unless of course they have
55:50 parents in which case they would kids so the point is whether you want to set new
55:55 financial goals work life balance invest in a new hobby ask your boss for a raise

56:08 $25 a month head over to linda.com wow
56:11 to try it out and start learning today which leads us into the second sponsor
56:16 now I did set that deadline I didn't realize we'd be doing a Squarespace spot
56:20 the following week did you by any chance get the migration finished it's there
56:25 it's not done yet it's not fully done yet okay let's wait for the next one so
56:30 for those of you who missed it I was mortified through the entire Squarespace
56:35 sponsor spot last week because Luke in his infinite bloody wisdom told me that
56:40 his mom's site which we'll show you next Squarespace but his mom's site was on
56:44 Squarespace and that's why it was great and stable and wouldn't crash so I was
56:49 like yeah I'm totally getting like I'm
56:52 totally getting worked like a like a like a a a uh a cookie
56:57 dough I couldn't think of something you got there it's fine yeah I'm totally
57:01 getting I'm totally getting worked here but we're going to show the site anyway
57:05 here's Luke's mom's site it crashed immediately because it wasn't actually
57:09 on Squarespace so I'm sitting there we've got hostgator.com or something on
57:15 my screen share in the middle of me doing a Squarespace ad integration and
57:20 I'm like wow I really hope they don't watch this I got an email
57:26 like three hours later from our Squarespace contact who's not just our
57:31 Squarespace contact he watches the show
57:34 okay I was hoping he missed it that week
57:38 and he's just like dude that was hilarious that was like the funniest
57:42 thing I've ever watched like I swear he
57:46 enjoyed watching me stew so they haven't
57:49 dropped us they're still they're still sponsoring us and why do we love Square
57:55 Face well because they have a rocking ass product you can make yourself a cool
57:59 website whether it's for a store a Blog a portfolio or you just want to make a
58:03 website because you think websites are cool their plans start at $8 a month
58:06 they'll throw in a free domain if you sign up for an entire year you can save
58:10 10% if you use offer code Linus on squarespace.com their websites work
58:15 great across a variety of devices and they make it so easy anyone can do it
58:18 with 247 email tech support but why else
58:21 do we like working with Squarespace because they have a sense of humor and
58:25 they can handle working with us they've worked with us for a long
58:31 time and they've seen some bad sponsor spots man the worst of which was last
58:36 week yes there's been many bad on they put up with us anyway and that's what
58:40 business is about is about relationships we have dropped sponsors I
58:45 I don't like airing dirty laundry and I'm not going to name any names but some
58:49 people figured out one of them when we did a jack threads integration recently
58:53 so we have dropped sponsors because it's
58:57 all about figuring out are you working together and sometimes we get a
59:02 complaint about a sponsor whether it's through our Forum or through you know
59:06 contact information on our website which is powered by Squarespace not the Forum
59:09 by the way they don't have a forum module um but just Alliance medag
59:12 group.com website we we get
59:15 complaints sometimes and that doesn't
59:18 mean we drop a sponsor immediately because there there's always going to be
59:22 trouble but when we take that to the sponsor and they don't deal with it in a
59:28 in an awesome manner right away then we see that as a huge problem because we
59:32 don't want to be repping guys that aren't taking care of you guys aw that
59:36 puts us in a super awkward position
59:39 where we have to be bad people basically and neither Luke nor I wants to be bad
59:44 people nope we might roleplay bad people sometimes but that's not actually being
59:48 bad
59:53 people anyways moving on um we have more
59:57 news about things uh yeah some of these are very rapid fire um Windows 10 will
60:02 be rolling out and yeah we we'll talk about yeah yeah that's a big deal uh
60:06 Windows 10 will be rolling out in waves not everyone will get it at launch this
60:09 was posted by Bozo on the Forum but if you have the little Windows icon in the
60:13 bottom right hand corner of your computer and you've reserved already
60:16 then you'll get it in the first wave so that's great cuz I like hardcore did
60:21 that I think I did that on one of my god did I reserve this one yes I think I did
60:25 I did it on one of my computers and then I tried to do it on my other one and it
60:29 never gave me the option to actually reserve it oh maybe that is what
60:32 happened cuz I have reserved on oh maybe
60:35 this one didn't Reserve no but I got a confirmation for this one yes view
60:39 confirmation okay I'll go do that on my other computer yeah click view confirmation and then you guys should be
60:44 able to see buy hell your upgrade is
60:47 reserved so if you have that then you should be okay yeah and you can cancel
60:52 your reservation apparently I have no idea you could do that I don't want to I
60:56 want Windows 10 me too uh what else we got here uh the Plex forums were
61:00 compromised hackers gained IP addresses passwords and more so this was
61:05 originally posted on Droid Life I'm going to go ahead and fire that up here
61:09 um did you post this in they got encrypted Forum passwords yeah uh
61:14 although um H I'm I'm going to go gather
61:17 the Microsoft
61:22 one yeah okay uh encrypted Forum
61:25 password words are not always the most secure thing in the world now to be
61:28 clear the ones on Linus Tech tips.com
61:32 currently uh using IP board thumbs up uh
61:36 but we have encountered in the past with other Forum software um user password
61:42 encryption that was uh not strong enough
61:45 to resist some fairly rudimentary um migration so to
61:51 speak um
61:56 that is all that is all we have to say that made us very very uncomfortable and
62:00 absolutely everything was destroyed immediately um so there you go uh so
62:05 there you go if you're on Plex then you should probably be uh you should
62:09 probably be not using that password anywhere else ever and stuff like that
62:13 uh just in general highly recommend using a password keeper um so that
62:17 things like bunk passwords can be changed without so you can use different
62:21 passwords everywhere without actually having to remember them all we should
62:25 probably do like like an LSD episode of
62:28 like password Keepers cuz you've done a fair bit of research on them I have but
62:32 I'm finding issu for every piece of good
62:35 news there's two pieces of bad news yeah is how it kind of goes isn't it yeah um
62:41 so this is really interesting Facebook set to become a serious YouTube
62:47 competitor original article here is from recode.net and I don't know how much
62:53 stock I would put in this but did you ever read that article that I sent you
62:57 and Nick that was uh subject line required reading so did
63:03 you yes I did subtle hint
63:07 there yeah so I read and Luke read um or
63:11 at least he tells me he read actually no you replied to that with some with some
63:14 insightful comments so okay I believe you read it um so we read not together
63:19 like sitting together on the couch like reading it together um we read a really
63:24 cool article about about how much traction Facebook has in online video
63:30 without anyone actually really realizing it and it makes sense because of the
63:34 amount of sheer views that like our videos get yep and and little tweaks
63:40 that Facebook has put in place like autoplay as you're scrolling past it
63:44 with manual audio enabling smartest
63:47 thing ever I mean that's that's what some newer platforms like vessel for
63:51 example is doing stuff like that video thumbnails inspired by Harry Potter is
63:56 apparently what Facebook's developers said about this feature it makes sense
64:01 cuz if if it's moving it's going to be more interesting yes yes there's
64:06 legitimately been fa uh videos on Facebook that I've seen start going
64:09 especially very action heavy ones like super fun Style videos that I've been
64:13 like oh wa okay wait that looks pretty interesting when you see the ball
64:17 sitting still at the top of the Green Hill the big red ball it's like okay
64:21 when you see a bunch of dudes shoving it down the hill it's like okay that's more
64:25 interesting AUD we obviously believe that online video is the future we
64:31 wouldn't be investing our lives in creating online video I like to think um
64:37 but Facebook is set
64:40 to change the game a little bit cuz right now I mean Facebook for premium
64:46 content I consider kind of laughable I don't expect someone to watch an entire
64:51 video in that tiny window like an entire review in that little window uh Facebook
64:57 doesn't have tools for creators that allow us to see things like audience
65:01 engagement we can see a view number we don't know what they watched we don't
65:05 know how much they watched we don't know how engaged they were it it's really
65:08 very meaningless like they're still way behind in terms of more premium content
65:13 something that YouTube has made enormous strides towards but the one of the big
65:18 obstacles that prevented people from even wanting to post on Facebook was
65:22 that Facebook wasn't sharing ad Revenue
65:25 well now that's the big news Facebook
65:28 will start sharing ad Revenue with video creators same rev split as YouTube which
65:33 is pretty interesting um yeah I don't
65:37 know the sharability of Facebook is intense yeah like wow totally different
65:44 like it's like if YouTube's mainstream Facebook is like is like you're born
65:50 with it kind of thing like Facebook is super M People starting to do that
65:53 people starting to uh make Facebook accounts to their kids absolutely it's
65:57 the same idea you were talking about this a while ago about making a Gmail
66:00 account yeah it's the same kind of idea you post things to their Facebook page
66:04 before they actually start using it yep yeah this is this is all this is all
66:08 stuff that is that is a big deal and I mean we as online video creators didn't
66:14 even really need more of an incentive to upload to Facebook because it's super
66:17 simple you just drag and drop and you copy paste like if you're already
66:21 publishing somewhere uh this is this is really interesting we're at the very
66:24 final stages of signing a deal to get our content translated and posted on
66:29 Chinese video sharing sites so uh so it'll actually have uh Mandarin
66:34 subtitles yeah um and baked into the
66:37 videos and this will be an official Linus Media Group Endeavor so so for us
66:41 posting to something like Facebook where English is fine is even way less work um
66:47 so we've been posting there regardless of whether we're getting an ad share or not and so now to be offered an ad share
66:53 is even more compelling because it's just more reach it's just a broader
66:57 audience I thought in the early days of lonus tech tips you know maybe it'll be
67:03 possible to have 100,000 subscribers someday maybe there are a 100,000 people
67:08 on Earth who are interested in the kind of technology that I talk about that's
67:12 what I thought and I learn day after day
67:16 week after week that the sky limit on this thing new enthusiasts are born
67:22 every day and I don't mean that in the like h it's a play on the sucker is born
67:27 every minute no no it's not like that it's just we're replenishing our supply
67:31 new enthusiasts are coming to take the place of the ones who you know lose
67:35 interest or or whatever the case may be and so that's how we've continued to
67:40 grow and and and this audience is is it seems like practically unlimited so yeah
67:44 we're going to post to more video sharing sites and yeah it's a good thing
67:49 umle ask people where they where they like watching videos the most and do
67:55 like a bunch of the kind of main ones so
67:58 Facebook uh YouTube YouTube um vessel where else do
68:05 we publish we'll we'll do Google+ as uh
68:08 YouTube because it is um
68:12 mobile mobile is that fair CU a lot of
68:15 these things have mobile options though um can I segment it
68:22 out can I say YouTube desktop
68:26 that's going to be a lot of pull options but sure you can add more so yeah does
68:30 Google so so through and when we say goog plus we're talking like through go+
68:34 like you're actually on Google+ watching like viewing a video isn't that just
68:38 YouTube links though embedded YouTube videos yes I think so okay okay so let's
68:45 leave that out and I'm actually going to switch be I'm going to uh I'm going to
68:49 uh break out iOS and Android okay um and
68:52 then I I'll leave in another
68:56 um can you think of anything else Daily Motion I don't think it's going to get
68:59 any votes but Daily Motion I I already
69:02 know the answer to that because our videos have been on Daily Motion forever
69:05 like we've been um like it's actually automatically uploaded from YouTube um
69:11 like that there's an official LTT daily motion and no one watches it no um like
69:16 what else is there I mean really Facebook and YouTube
69:20 are the ones twitch yeah twitch is something I was thinking about so twitch
69:24 um uh as
69:27 Boo and we're talking in terms of experience not necessarily where you
69:31 watch where do you prefer to watch who delivers the best online video watching
69:37 experience in your mind and there's a lot of different ways to interpret this
69:41 and you'll just have to kind of leave it up to you whether you whether your experience is mostly dictated by the you
69:47 know the compression algorithm or whether your experience is mostly
69:50 dictated by the discoverability of fun new content uh that's entirely up to you
69:55 TV G oh sorry I it's fine it's not going to get any anyways okay so I'm going to
70:00 go ahead and post that
70:03 um who was saying vessel vessel's in there vessel's in there yeah don't worry
70:07 got oh Vimeo oh we okay uh people people
70:13 who want Vimeo just just other I mean basically other is going to be Vimeo at
70:17 this point I think yeah uh so hold on I
70:21 wanted to go back to the notes from that Facebook thing so Facebook claims they can get
70:26 more eyeballs than YouTube by being a social network first and video platform
70:30 second which I think is an interesting point because I would make the argument that YouTube is very much a social
70:36 network I mean to call it anything else is sort of stupid um there's saying it's
70:41 a social network first they're not saying it's not a social network yes
70:44 that's true um but one thing that they are correct about is that YouTube's
70:51 social network is less less group oriented it's more wheel
70:56 and spoke where it's like you've got your hubs the creators and then you've
71:01 got the people interacting with them the spokes don't interact with each other as
71:06 much the way that they would on something like Facebook where it's all
71:09 spokes pretty much and then hubs are just bigger spokes so to speak um and
71:16 this is an interesting quote those people don't need to be following your Facebook page either last I checked
71:20 someone can Google search how to build a computer and they can find our videos they don't have to be following us on
71:24 Facebook YouTube Twitter gole Plus or you
71:28 know this polls going extremely skewed I
71:32 know I know but it's still you know it's
71:36 always nice to hear from the twitch chat well yeah no it's true I just something
71:40 that I thought of outside of the fact that everyone's watching on Twitch right
71:43 now is that um the mobile versions are
71:48 going to be harder to vote on
71:51 yes oh for you guys I didn't think about
71:54 that so Android and iOS would probably be considerably higher so this is
72:00 interesting well no remember too though the question is where do you prefer to
72:05 watch videos not where do you do it necessarily yeah but if someone's
72:09 currently doing it there's a higher percentage likeliness that they're going to prefer doing it true that's very true
72:15 still overwhelming majority major majority overwhelming majority are
72:20 saying YouTube desktop and I think it would be that way anyways I just think
72:23 the numbers would be slightly different yeah because I mean we see from our
72:26 mobile viewership numbers that more of you are watching on mobile than
72:30 necessarily prefer to watch on mobile um
72:33 with a actually 7% of you saying vessel you know vessel implemented a really
72:38 cool feature recently where the video just gets small and plays at the top
72:42 when you scroll and read the comments as a Creator 95% of what I'm interested in
72:48 on the video playback page is comments comments yeah and so being a but being
72:52 able to kind of watch the video in the corner of my eye is like oh yeah that's kind of neat cuz a lot of the time the
72:56 editors throw in stuff that I don't think of especially fast as possible and
73:00 Channel Super Fun those are as much fun for me to watch as you guys I think
73:05 we've got some fun Channel super funs coming we actually filmed you weren't
73:09 here yesterday I haven't properly been in one in like a month and a half oh my
73:13 goodness okay so it's been a long time
73:17 the uh the golf one is pretty hilarious I had Jack from NC Tech tips film with
73:21 me and so we play golf on a pitch and Putt course with PL clubs and plastic
73:26 balls um and then the one we filmed yesterday is this game if you can even
73:30 call it a game it's just stupid um where
73:33 you hold four handles each person holds
73:36 a handle and then it plays spooky music and like a light changes color and you
73:42 have to press the button as fast as you can or you get an electric shock and
73:45 it's pretty similar to the dog cers okay so it's like it's not like hey you were
73:50 last it's like hey don't be last again yeah
73:55 poor Brandon that's all I have to
73:59 say and like the more times you get shocked it seems like the slower Brandon
74:03 gets probably that makes
74:06 sense
74:10 um what's up there's selfie pay for MasterCard I actually didn't read this
74:14 what the hell is this this is supposed by Jaws on the Forum I I'm going to let
74:18 you handle this cuz I actually didn't make it this far in my doc prep today I
74:22 was I was busy organizing all the videos that I need to do over the next couple
74:25 of months it turns out that if not a single new product were released nor a
74:29 single new idea generated by anyone who works at Linus Media Group we would have
74:33 enough content to make it through the next quarter or so yep oop um there's
74:38 there's there's uh some interesting counter points to this whole idea but
74:43 basically you get a Microsoft uh or Microsoft you get a Master Card app on
74:48 your phone and then for authorization of payment you take a selfie so uses facial
74:53 recognition now to get get around people using still photos they make you blink
74:59 once but that doesn't mean you couldn't just like hold the phone there no
75:03 because getting a video of someone blinking once hold on I'm going to I'm going to I'm going to I'm going to
75:08 switch to full screen so you can see the look on my face better I think that's what a lot of
75:13 people did um a bunch of people are saying from
75:16 a privacy standpoint this is awful
75:19 because then MasterCard is just going to
75:22 have like endless amounts of videos of you looking at a camera and all of your
75:27 banking information but MasterCard is stating that they're only holding ones
75:31 and zeros not photos or fingerprints
75:34 which are made of ones and
75:41 zeros anyways it's super weird I don't
75:44 really know uh one thing that you guys might be enjoying right now is that HTML
75:48 5 chat is now live on Twitch I'm going to post this into the twitch chat um
75:53 okay I can my face actually started to stick there oh wow I'm super not
75:58 impressed with selfie pay no I don't
76:01 think many people care why does it take apple to revolutionize mobile payments
76:06 because everyone else is a complete idiot because people at MasterCard were
76:10 like the young people the young people like taking selfies let's make let's
76:15 make credit card selfies um anyways apparently it kicked
76:19 off on June 30th it's a actually a lot better than the previous flash base chat
76:23 thank freaking goodness that we're getting away from flash uh chat loads
76:27 apparently four times faster chat uses fewer CPU resources and you don't need
76:32 to do anything to upgrade as long as you're using a websocket capable browser
76:36 let's um let's do a thing let's reload
76:40 this page and see if the chat slows it
76:48 down it worked we benchmarked it wow
76:55 oh geez luckily most benchmarks online is
76:59 Tech tips are better than
77:02 that actually have some amount of comparative
77:07 data actually have an ounce of thought put into them I'm going to F5 and see
77:12 what happens woooo okay anyways that's super cool I'm
77:18 very happy about that personally what else do we have to say oh iPhone 6s
77:21 leaks right uh original article here is from 9 5 Mac so the chassis has been
77:29 revealed uh this is really unexpected to
77:32 people who have never seen an Apple product release cycle before um but the
77:37 iPhone 6s will look nearly identical outside but will feature numerous
77:41 changes inside right when the iPhone 7 comes out we should release a chassis
77:46 leak of the iPhone iPhone 7S we should
77:50 we'd be first yes that would be awesome so
77:54 according to the the leak basically nothing is going to change about the
77:57 outside in fact even less than usual like in the past we've seen things like
78:01 an antenna line here or a logo there or
78:04 whatever else like little tiny changes uh this time it looks like pretty much
78:08 nothing in spite of Apple's patent filing for a way to anodise their uh
78:14 their antenna lines which personally I don't even mind the antenna line I don't
78:19 think it's that big of a deal I mean we're not talking like panty lines here it's just an antenna line everybody's
78:24 got to have antennas and we all know that no one should be wearing panties so
78:28 that's why it's much less offensive no you just like people going commando oh
78:31 yeah I'm all about the commander are you Commander right now um no but I'm
78:36 wearing skin tight panties so you don't see the lines what color are they
78:40 they're black because I is that like a glossy black or a matte black remember
78:45 Black Panties are only for when you expect and or want someone to see
78:49 them is this from me I think it's from are you there God it's me Margaret
78:55 which is a book it might not be from that book enjoy that might not be a book
78:59 at all in Seattle I got to see The Princess Bride props no way physical
79:04 props shut up what uh the swords shut up
79:08 um the one of the main dresses the the
79:12 uh the As You Wish suit thing no way in
79:17 person sick I even know they that also
79:20 Star Wars stuff is it touring or is it like a museum or something like can I go
79:24 yeah yes oh my good oh wow also Star Wars wait I think I'm I'm going to
79:29 Seattle shortly go to the uh EMP EMP
79:34 museum EMP museum yeah definitely like right beside the Space Needle um there's
79:39 Star Wars they have all the new stuff they also have a bunch of old stuff there's two main like themed rooms going
79:44 on can I skip the new stuff yeah can I
79:47 never look at it I I can tell you how to avoid the new stuff because I went to
79:51 the new stuff and was like I don't want to see any of this and then eventually found the old stuff and was like awesome
79:56 and then left and went to the other areas but there's a fantasy area where
79:59 they have um Princess Bride and they have Lord of the Rings and stuff in
80:03 there as well then there's a Sci-Fi area that has like Star Wars stuff and Star
80:07 Trek stuff and then there's a dedicated Star Wars area oh I have to go down
80:10 there for that I'm actually I'm going down for uh Chris perillo's vlogger fair
80:14 thing oh cool yeah uh I'm only going down for like one day cuz I think
80:18 there's like an industry day or something like that and I'm like yeah I
80:22 don't really care um so if like if people want go check it out uh vlogger
80:26 fair I have a discount code or something so you can get 15% off your admission um
80:31 I I don't I don't really I don't I don't know I I don't know how much admission
80:35 costs or anything like I'm I'm not I don't get paid or anything I'm just going down to kind of hang out and uh I
80:40 couldn't make it last year and I had told Chris that I really wanted to make
80:43 it so I can make it this year so if I didn't make it this year then I'd
80:46 basically be just being a gigantic douche canoe so wow I didn't want to do
80:50 that um yeah go to that thing there's also like it's supposed to be a music
80:53 place the majority of the stuff in there is actually props oh I give zero craps
80:57 about that so yeah yeah there's like Nirvana
81:03 and exactly no he's a big deal he he used to
81:07 put acid in his headband Jimmy Hendrick yes there's jimmi Hendricks and Nirvana
81:11 for music exhibits and then there's just like actually cool things at the props
81:15 like I I I like I like the music stuff but like there's I don't know it was
81:20 much less interesting than the props which I felt was weird considering it's
81:24 a music museum right anyways so the uh
81:28 iPhone 6s will allegedly feature a
81:31 pressure sensitive display so that's that new Force touch thing that we've
81:36 seen on um the MacBook 2015 where I
81:39 really liked it and the Apple watch where I think it's a gigantic steaming
81:43 hunk of completely unnecessary nonsense so uh whether they do a better job in
81:48 the iPhone 6s remains to be seen there was rumors that there would be a dual
81:52 element camera or something like that it looks like that will not be the case um
81:56 space gray will remain light in contrast with the space gray Apple watch which is
82:01 darker it's amazing the kinds of things that Apple people care about uh same
82:06 connectors um are is rumored so we might
82:10 still be looking at a lightning connector as opposed to a USB type-c
82:14 connector but this is a leak none of it
82:18 could be real so yeah head to 9o5 Mac if
82:21 you're interested in learning more about it otherwise um I guess we could move on
82:26 to not Apple things whoa there's been a bunch of Reddit drama like super duper
82:32 Reddit drama um basically like the the
82:37 The Exodus seems to be kind of starting between the finally cuz they freaked out
82:42 last time and then we're like I guess we'll just keep using Reddit you know
82:45 what one funky town thing though yeah everyone is talking about leaving Reddit
82:49 on Reddit like I guarantee you Reddit has a
82:53 huge traffic Spike right now yeah I was
82:57 talking to someone about this earlier today and it's just like
83:00 guys man like the AMA request for whatever the heck her name is the chick
83:05 that's running Reddit now um is like one of the most upvoted things like
83:11 ever just if you want to protest just actually leave basically Ahmad was
83:17 unexpectedly let go from her position with Reddit um some mods were not
83:22 notified the admins didn't realiz how important she was something something
83:28 was made public again later as far as I know no one knows specifically how or
83:32 why she got fired y there's already been job offers for her mods have been
83:37 increasingly upset over the admins not keeping them or the users in the loop as
83:41 much as they believe they should they H to get a better relationship with it was
83:45 an admin yeah sorry excuse me it was an admin who who did a lot for the AMA yeah
83:51 so there you go some subreddits shut down so would comment on them um notably
83:57 r/f funny books Science music gaming history art jokes documentaries today I
84:03 learned so like some like reddits that even I've heard of as not a redditor and
84:07 like that I've browsed as not particularly a redditor so uh there you
84:13 go the rebels are the rebels are rising
84:16 or rousing Rebel R hopefully they remember for more than like 4 days it's
84:21 Reddit so I don't know I don't even remember remember what the last thing
84:25 was I think they like closed down some subreddits or something and like Reddit
84:29 exploded for like 24 hours and then no
84:34 one gave a crap okay I mean it's not like I don't
84:39 think it's specific to Reddit I think it's just any mainstream site a very
84:43 mainstream site is going to have your very mainstream user who is not the
84:47 emotionally invested user so as like
84:50 once something reaches that critical mass um it
84:55 takes it has a lot of momentum I mean that's what critical mass means um so
85:02 once you reach that critical mass you gain a lot of momentum and even if you lose some really important like Keystone
85:08 pieces of a community it can keep a lot of momentum for a long time you could
85:12 potentially have a huge amount of mass without momentum yes if you weren't
85:17 moving thank you but that's not what
85:20 people mean when they say reaching critical mass so I think you understood
85:23 me fully and are just being a jackass and on that note thank you for
