0:07 welcome to my unboxing of the filco magist stouch 2 camouflage 10 keyless so
0:13 what does 10 keyless mean it means this is an 87 key keyboard it is
0:19 short here even like a generic keyboard it's like shorter see shorter so 10
0:25 keyless is for people who want space savings and don't necessarily need a
0:30 full number pad well or a number pad at
0:33 all all right so what do we got inside the Box first thing we find is a manual
0:39 that doesn't appear to have a word of English on it sweet ah there it is yes
0:45 handling a keyboard when you're using a keyboard dropping or any kinds of
0:49 activities may lead to accidents Place keyboard on a secure flat surface when
0:53 in use the keyboard is an electrical device that contains circuits and Transformers do not expose the keyboard
0:57 to water or any other liquid excellent
1:00 good advice adopting MX switches Cherry MX switches are mechanical switches
1:04 developed by ZF Electronics Corporation Germany key travel is 4 mm deeper than
1:09 comparative models the actuation point is located at 2 mm from the top when
1:12 pressed down this keyboard uses individual cherrymx switches that give
1:16 you light touch typing okay so
1:19 mechanical keyboards if you guys don't know this already they are one 100
1:24 billion times better and this is all sort of my own personal opinion than
1:29 keyboards that that are not mechanical because they are significantly more
1:34 comfortable they are significantly more satisfying to use because of the awesome
1:39 noises that they make and I can guarantee you like I I will put my
1:44 personal lonus guarantee of approval on
1:48 the concept that they will make you type faster almost everyone I've ever encount
1:54 no everyone I've ever encountered it's a guarantee has sat down in front of a
1:58 mechanical keyboard started to use it and realized after a short period of
2:02 time that they are typing faster on it and we're talking significantly maybe 10
2:06 maybe 15 20% faster than you can on a membrane keyboard even if it's a really
2:11 good membrane switch keyboard so let's keep on going with this guy right here
2:16 so this one uses uh cherry black switches so the black switches are
2:21 actually here there's a key remover so I'm going to show you guys what exactly
2:26 is the Deo with the names of the various
2:30 Cherry switches so Cherry MX that is the brand of switches that are used and then
2:34 there okay this is a very interesting hold on I'll don't worry I'll figure it
2:38 out like so you put it under the thing and then probably from oh okay he's
2:43 laughing at me now cuz I think you're supposed to go this way um so this is a
2:48 key removal tool and not not the awesomest one that I've ever seen there
2:52 that is what makes this a Cherry MX black the fact that the actual switch
2:56 right there is black so the characteristics of black is that they
2:59 have a linear less tactile feel so you don't feel that that click that sort of
3:05 that spring that that uh you don't really hear the noise as well other than
3:10 the key bottoming out so if you put the camera close you can actually
3:14 hear if I don't bottom them out they're quite quiet they don't have that they
3:19 don't have that loudness that is associated with mechanical keyboards
3:22 however it's still going to be louder to type on than a membrane keyboard just
3:26 because most membrane keyboards aren't built very well and it has a nice solid
3:30 back plane that you're going to be landing on if you're typing with any
3:34 kind of force whatsoever so I'm going to pull off a few more key caps here this
3:37 is probably the faster way to do it versus that tool that's the worst tool
3:42 I've ever seen for removing key caps um
3:45 not that I'm like criticizing or anything but that's sort of not yeah not
3:48 ideal and we're going to replace the WD keys with the
3:54 included WD keys so let's have a look at
3:57 the layout layout is for me the the deal
4:00 maker or the deal breaker of any mechanical keyboard and it can be the
4:03 difference between a keyboard that I love to type on but I absolutely hate
4:07 and a keyboard that I hate to type on but I absolutely have to use because
4:11 there's no getting away from it this has my favorite possible layout no changes
4:18 long shift key long shift key long Enter
4:22 key long backspace key no long delete key awesome I I absolutely love it in
4:28 every possible way you've got a fun function key here instead of a Windows
4:31 key I personally consider this to be a boon for gamers because I don't think I
4:36 put those on all the way there we go a boon for gamers because you're a lot
4:40 less likely to be bothered if you accidentally hit a function key CU then
4:43 you'll have to like accidentally also hit like f three to mute your audio like
4:51 what are what are the freaking odds like
4:54 um whereas if you have a Windows key here that could potentially bother you
4:57 however I actually use the Windows key
5:00 so having a Hardware switch to turn it off because I often forget to turn it
5:04 back on is really annoying because I'll actually press on it I want like the
5:09 menu to come up or I want to uh cycle through my Windows using Windows Tab and
5:14 I can't so there you go Windows key
5:17 function key uh it does have arrow keys however you notice the number pad is
5:23 missing everything else is pretty normal the one thing that you'll notice is
5:27 missing so it's still got your scroll lock and it still got your um caps lock
5:31 buttons or lights but it doesn't have a number lock button which makes sense
5:34 because there is no number pad keys are labeled on the tops
5:39 although filco does have a ton of options for keyboards we're actually
5:42 going to be taking a look at a fair number of their keyboards they have lots of different colors of keyboards lots of
5:47 different colors of switches lots of different configurations in terms of the
5:52 actual layouts of the keyboards there are one of the most um varied keyboard
5:56 manufacturers out there but the one thing they all have in Comm common is
6:00 they all use high quality
6:03 builds and they all use high quality switches so let's just take a quick look
6:08 at the rest of the physical attributes of the of the camo keyboard here which
6:13 actually I was expecting to look kind of cheese ball but it actually looks kind
6:16 of cool uh okay so you got a flip up here which will allow you to tilt the
6:22 keyboard a little bit you can see again just build quality the weight of it the
6:27 proper rubber that's used on it it's not going to go anywhere no matter how hard you mash on it we've also got rubber
6:32 here here here and here and then your part number and your serial number on
6:36 the bottom in case you need it for any particular reason so I think that pretty
6:40 much it comes down to uh it pretty much comes down to what your personal taste
6:44 is in terms of the look the layout the switches and what you're more what you
6:49 like best so in general blacks are considered more of a a gaming key switch
6:54 as opposed to a typist key switch so depending what you use your computer for
6:57 you might want to go with a different skew however I don't think most typists are going to be interested in the camo
7:02 uh the camo sort of look so it's probably appropriate that they used a
7:05 gaming switch on this model thank you for checking out my unboxing and first
7:08 look at filo's Magis touch camo 10
7:11 keyless don't forget to subscribe to L's Tech tips and don't forget it also includes a PS2 adapter in camo green and
7:18 these keyboards all include n key rollover I think well I think it's like
7:24 hold on just SEC yes it does have full End Key rollover which means you can
7:28 press as many keys as you want and you won't run into any difficulty also I've
7:31 been informed by Slick who's actually more of a keyboard nerd than I am that
7:35 this is apparently better than prying them off with your fingers because if you do it with your fingers you can
7:39 apply pressure in the wrong way and you can accidentally damage the switch so that's why they have this tool which
7:43 seems goofy to me but apparently it's for a reason so there you have it thank
7:47 you for watching
