0:07 so the jam boox got a fair amount of flak when I did my video about it for
0:10 being expensive because it's a Bluetooth speaker that acts as doubles as a
0:15 speaker phone it's got like you know bass and treble
0:19 and all that stuff this is a less
0:23 expensive alternative this is the Twist speaker with rechargeable battery it is
0:27 basically a speaker and speaker phone plus like
0:30 base and treble and stuff so slick wants
0:33 me to get the packaging off it in a hurry because it's pretty shiny so we're
0:37 just going to undress this Bluetooth speaker in a big way and Slick's
0:43 apparently tired and wants to sit down cuz he's trying to move that like stool
0:47 over here uh so let's see what the manufacturer has to say for themselves
0:51 um sorry stick there's nothing I can do it is Wireless okay
0:56 a2dp Bluetooth for wireless music streaming with a 30 foot range it is a
1:00 speaker phone with a built-in microphone an advanced noise cancellation for
1:03 wireless speaker phone calls bold sound two speakers and one passive subwoofer
1:07 auxiliary input which is Handy rechargeable battery okay offers up to 5
1:12 hours of continuous play time now I can tell you guys right now that that is
1:15 significantly less than the jam boox however if you were paying like you know
1:19 if you were paying per minute of play time then um The Twist is still a better
1:24 deal however you also lose the size
1:28 advantage that something like the jam box has so here we have a fairly large
1:32 speaker that is actually apparently supposed to go this way not the other way and uh here we have a significantly
1:38 smaller one and just for good measure I
1:41 am going to do the iPhone comparison yay
1:46 here you should get the top down
1:50 view so now you know how big they all
1:53 are um I don't know slick wants me to do
1:57 this there you go so let's go through the pairing
2:01 process together and see just how uh
2:04 just how awesome the Twist speaker
2:07 is settings Bluetooth so probably you just
2:13 like press and hold the thing right a
2:16 it's not charged oh it's not on oh there we go okay well why don't we take an
2:20 actual look at the unit itself so we've got controls here bluetooth volume up
2:24 volume down power and like something pick up the phone play pause put down
2:29 the phone uh you've got what appears to be ah
2:33 there's your two speakers there's your passive subwoofer so it looks like this
2:37 is actually kind of empty space I don't feel a whole lot in there or maybe
2:40 there's the battery there whereas most of the business end of uh things is in
2:44 this particular twist so there's the twist there's the like not as Twisted
2:48 parts for when you put it on the table so it doesn't roll um has kind of a soft
2:53 touch feel to it kind of like bit Phoenix
2:56 cases so let's press on see what happens
3:00 here and it's not
3:05 charged dancing makes more sense when there's
3:14 music so the pairing process took a matter of like seconds even for slick
3:19 who had incidentally never paired anything over Bluetooth to his phone
3:23 before this is Slick's phone um mine's out of battery from tweeting too much
3:30 honestly we're both really impressed uh for a fraction of the price and like 1
3:36 over three is a fraction I think so for a fraction of the price the twist is
3:41 louder and clearer with better more
3:47 um more Punchy base than the jam boox by
3:51 Jawbone so uh it loses the compactness
3:55 okay so remember it is significantly bigger it loses the Uber battery life
4:00 so that's kind of a big deal to a lot of people if it was me I'd probably still
4:05 go with the jam boox assuming they were the same price um however they're not um
4:11 and I think he said there was another yep yeah I know the one uh wait no I
4:14 don't know the one well yes I do another
4:17 one so this isn't even as loud as it goes however that was as loud as we
4:22 could get it comfortably and maintain the clarity of the base it does start to
4:26 distort eventually but not like the jam boox
4:30 it's empty in the valley of your heart
4:33 the sun it rises slowly as you walk away
4:37 from all the fears and all the fults
4:40 you've oh there we go bit of a delay there um so thank you for checking out
4:44 my unboxing and first look at the Twist speaker don't forget to subscribe to
4:48 Linus techtips for more unboxings reviews and other computer videos oh
4:51 wait one more thing and what's another thing that's great about it is that it
4:54 charges by mini not by stupid micro USB
4:59 which is is more fragile and less accessible there I have fewer micro
5:03 cables and I think most people probably do as well
